Journalist Islam Bassam Barbari reports on the growing number deaths at Al-Shifa Hospital. Since October 7th, when someone dies at Al-Shifa, IOF attacks prevent most people from bringing their loved ones to a cemetery. An emergency cemetery was built on-site to give the dead some dignity, help loved ones grieve, and prevent diseases spread by decaying bodies. Islam reports that the emergency cemetery has gotten so full that a second one had to be built. There are now two cemeteries on Al-Shifa property when prior to October 7th, there were none.

NASA's Day of Remembrance
NASA’s Day of Remembrance is observed annually on the last Thursday of January and this year will be marked on January 25. This day is organized by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (N.A.S.A), a body responsible for managing U.S. space research and other activities. Space exploration is perilous, yet scientists and astronauts accept this challenge bravely. This day commemorates the members of the N.A.S.A. family who gave up their lives to advance the cause of space discovery. These include the crew members of the space missions Apollo 1, Challenger, and Columbia. This year, the NASA Day of Remembrance also commemorates the tragedy of Apollo 1, which occurred 55 years ago.
History of NASA's Day of Remembrance
N.A.S.A. has always shown a deep concern and respect for fateful events such as the Apollo 1 fire, the space shuttle Challenger disaster, and the like. Early commemorations focused on jubilee anniversaries or milestone years. On the first anniversary of the Challenger disaster in January 1987, a National Day of Excellence was announced by Congress under Public Law 99-478, which was signed by then-President Ronald Reagan. The Space Mirror Memorial was established at Kennedy Space Center on its fifth anniversary. Its tenth memorial observance was held at both Kennedy Space Center in Florida and Johnson Space Center in Houston.
Local N.A.S.A. centers and communities also organized commemorations across the U.S. Around 18 years ago, on the first anniversary of the space shuttle Columbia’s mishap, the space organization altered its approach and introduced the agency’s annual Day of Remembrance. Three separate tragedieS — the Apollo 1 test capsule fire in 1967, the Challenger space shuttle explosion minutes after take-off in 1986, and the Columbia space shuttle failure during re-entry in 2003, all occurred in the same calendar week, decades apart. This is the reason why the Day of Remembrance is observed.
Each center observes the Day of Remembrance in its own way. This year, Kennedy Space Center hosted a ceremony at the Space Mirror Memorial at Kennedy’s Visitor Complex. On the other hand, employees held a commemoration in the Astronaut Memorial Grove at the Johnson Space Center.

Etoiles: And yeah, I think it's important. I think it's important to talk about [Palestine]. I think that the mods put it... did they put the link to just click? And if you don't agree when people are dying, go fuck yourself. If you are mad, go fuck yourself. And uh, and if you are racist, you have been watching an Algerian for 3 years. [Laughs] Well. It's- yeah. Other- other- yeah.

First there was a protest against Femicide in Kenya that American news media barely covered. Now there was a protest in Honduras that was barely mentioned.
February 7, 2024
Dressed in black as a sign of mourning, about 300 women marched on Thursday in Tegucigalpa to the National Congress, on Honduran Women’s Day, to protest the increase in femicides.
“We come to demand that the lives of Honduran women be respected, that’s why we come to this National Congress,” an activist who covered her face and hair with black scarves said through a megaphone.
The police placed barriers around Congress as a new legislative period began with the attendance of President Xiomara Castro, but the protesters managed to jump over them and reach the lower part of the building.
“We are marching today against all violence, from domestic violence to femicide. We demand the approval of the Comprehensive Law against Violence that the president promised; we can’t wait,” said Sandra Deras.
According to the Women’s Rights Center, violence against women is on the rise in Honduras. In the first 15 days of 2024, at least 16 women were murdered (according to preliminary police reports there were 15).
According to the National Autonomous University of Honduras’ Violence Observatory, 380 femicides were registered in 2023, compared to 308 in 2022.
According to UN Women data, Honduras is the fifth country with the highest rate of femicides in the world, 6.47 per every 100,000 inhabitants, making it the most dangerous country for women in Latin America.
Congress established January 25 as Honduran Women’s Day because, on that date in 1955, women were granted the right to vote and participate in the country’s political life.

Journalist Anas Al-Sharif reports a massacre by the IOF at Kuwait Roundabout in Zaytoun, northern Gaza. He writes on Telegram
The death toll rose to 25 martyrs and 120 wounded as a result of the massacre committed by the occupation against citizens while waiting for an aid truck near the Kuwait roundabout in the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood south of Gaza City, and ambulance crews are still transporting the wounded until now.
Simultaneously, journalist Ahmed Hamdan documents a surge in activity at the entrance to Al-Shifa Hospital after the Kuwait Roundabout massacre. Dozens of injured are being taken to Al-Shifa in hopes that there is something the dedicated staff can do for them. He writes in the caption (auto-translated into English)

Journalist Wadea Abu Alsaoud, also stationed at Al-Shifa, documents the crisis inside Al-Shifa’s emergency room, where more than a hundred injured people are waiting for treatment for wounds ranging from moderate to severe. As you can see, there is barely room to walk because there are so many people, and the number keeps rising. Instagram user sarafalastini was kind enough to provide an English transcription of the video, pasted below.
this is Alshifa hospital (north of Gaza), this is catastrophic scene. Many injuries and martyred. There are no beds or rooms available so everyone is being placed on the floor. More are still coming in, the flow of the injured is unending. There are various massacres taking place against the civilians. There are at least 100 injured people who arrived. The medical teams are trying to save as many lives as possible but the numbers are huge and the capacity isn't there. In the background you hear people moaning in pain, describing where they were massacred and where there are martyred, and towards the end one person says that they stand with the resistance and won't leave. Wadea repeats a few times how catastrophic and heartbreaking the scene is.
