-When he wants to clear his head, he loves going on a water adventure, and by water adventure i mean he’d turn to a boat and stray as far away from land as possible, then completely stop in the middle of the ocean, letting the waves drift him off to whatever direction they please, the isolation combined with the rhythm of the waves help

-his constant martial arts training is not only his way of venting, but his way to calm the anxious thoughts of being unable to protect his family when they truly need him

-finds difficulty in distinguishing between what he wants and what he truly needs (for example, being on team Prime is what he wants, being a rescue bot alongside his friends who he knew for a millenia is what he needs)

-gives off so much youngst child energy, I like to believe he’s the youngest of the group, ironically, despite his arrangement in the age ladder, he has eldest daughter syndrome

-naver uses words to express his love for his family, but always shows it through the little things he does like chasing zombie hamsters when Blades tells him to, his love language is acts of service

-He and Hightide become good friends actually, grumpy meanie on the outside, absolute softy on the inside duo

-besties with Quickshadow

-the reason he seems angry all the time is cause he doesn’t really know how to express his emotions any other way, anger is easier to translate into actions

-speaking of anger, I’d say he’s become angrier than he used to be, all due to different circumstances like waking up from stasis to find out his home is gone, having to pretend to be a lifeless machine and getting used to their new home, anger is just another word for grief

-and speaking of finding out Cybertron is dead, he blames himself to an extent, self loathing for not being part of the fight, and that’s why he’s so adamant about joining team Prime at the beginning (it absolutely is not his fault)

-greatly enjoys hugs, he’d just never admit it (not that he needs to, his fam got him <3)

-he finds kids incredibly annoying, yet he loves them dearly, he has a big mom mode

-speaking of mom mode, HW is what you’d call a Mama-bear

-he’d never admit it, but he likes his boat mode far more than any of his other modes

Boulder

-boulder sometimes wishes he could use different art mediums like digital art, but is unable to due to his size, which then is solved when his family makes a screen big enough for him to use with an art program to try out

-while emotionally intelligent, he sometimes struggles with expressing his emotions through words, that’s why art is great for him as a tool to express himself, he doesn’t need words when he can draw his feelings

-outta the bots he misses Cybertron the most, but is the best at coping with his loss compared to the others

-I like to believe he’s the oldest, and while HW is usually the one to take care of the team, Boulder acts as a mediator (and as the voice of reason) when HW’s anger gets the better of him

-he’s the sunshine the team desperately needs, his optimism and kindness is contagious in the best possible way

-he strives to make everyone happy, which means he sometimes forgets that his own happiness matters too

-the best at social interactions

Chase

-Chase enjoys games that gives him a challenge and makes him use his brain, like chess and jigsaw puzzles

-he and Blades are super close, and that’s in part due to the fact they’re both middle children, Chase would be second oldest

-his love for laws is both cause they’re interesting to him, and cause they make more sense to him then the mess that is life which can be really unpredictable

-isn’t afraid to speak what’s on his mind, good at being polite while doing so tho

-loves to go on late night rides with Charlie

-a workaholic night owl, yet an early bird, yes both at the same time, Heatwave keeps an eye on him to make sure he recharges and doesn’t work himself to death

-loves writing actually and while bad at it, it doesn’t stop him from keeping it up, happy creator goals

-relies upon his brain rather than heart most of the time, yet to find a balance between both

-has high pain tolerance and low pain sensitivity, which means he sometimes doesn’t realize how hurt he is unless it’s really bad

Blades

-has Thanatophobia (aka death anxiety, which is an intense fear of death whether for one’s own life or the death of people they love, i like to believe his fear is in line with the death of loved ones)

-second youngest

-Adhd-er, fixates super hard on tv shows

-has nightmares, goes to Chase for comfort

-opposite of Chase, low pain tolerance and high pain sensitivity, which makes getting hurt an absolute nightmare, jinxed to always get hurt in some way shape or form

-don’t let him know about horror games, he’d play them nonstop

-really emotionally sensitive, has abandonment issues

-gender? what’s that? Literally uses he/him mainly simply cause people used that for him and he honestly doesn’t care so he went with it, any pronouns queen

-if he could, he’d wear a lot of dresses

-clouds are his worst enemy

-a lot smarter than what he’s given credit for, despite his anxiety, as an emergency medical bot, he has the best sense of danger and is the best at assessing the situation around him

-loves to receive compliments from those who don’t impress easily (Hightide and Heatwave)

-HW and Quickshadow train together sometimes

-Quickshadow loves to finish rescue missions before any of the bots arrive sometimes cause she loves to piss off HW, bestie goals

-despite Blurr’s behavior with HW, Blurr genuinely looks up to him, too bad HW has a bit of a thick skull to realize it

-Blurr loves to make up quotes that he then claims to have been said by some of the great leaders of cybertron, he’d say shit like “ as Optimus Prime himself once said ‘there’s not greater strength than speed’”

-Salvage is a unique embodiment of the “looks like a cinnamon role, can actually kill you” meme, he’s a gentle giant but also can kill you if he gets angry enough, which doesn’t happen easily which means you have to be such a douchebag to anger him tho you can save yourself cause he’s also easy to calm

-Blurr has raced against Knockout at least once without realizing it

-after the war ended, the rescue bots had to deal with some negativity concerning how “they never got their hands dirty” aka never fought in the war, they got through it together tho, Hightide (as a respected bot) doesn’t let them get hated under his watch whenever he’s around

-Hightide’s fave bot is Blades, no one needs to know about that tho

yesterday i had a 3 hour meeting with my project partner. i went to the library and stayed until closing. it was raining which made me even more miffed about having to go outside. today we had a 3 hour 30 min meeting where she assigned me more articles to read bc the prof made a comment about our lit review section and now she's paranoid that we didn't read enough relevant articles........on top of the assigned reading, i have to do the methodology part involving pylangacq (which i tried to explain what it was to her and she cried) and then tmrw we have to meet again.

needless to say i am ignoring my semantics final exam entirely and my final homework and final project for methods 2.

the final hw for methods 2 is homograph disambiguation where i have to experiment with multinomial linear classifiers using sci-kit learn .......i haven't shared this with my project mate at all but i feel like my first language acquistion final is eating up precious necessary time i need for my methods 2 class which has wayyy more weight and relevance since i'm in the computational linguistics track !!! the amount of programming i have to do and learn for this FLA project is making me panic about my methods 2 final project where i will actually be graded on my code

okay since i’ve spent time rambling and complaining about this essay and generally being semi inactive, i gotta talk about life in general.

I MISS CREATIVE WRITING!!! I MISS DOING THINGS ON A CREATIVE LEVEL!!!

But I’ve been sick, I’ve been busy, and I’ve just been hanging out with friends (what the heck) until like 2 or 3 am, and it leaves me too tired to form coherent thoughts and sentences and stories. And depression has sort of been eating at me.

I have two one shots drafted to be worked on, both of them based off of prompts, and one that’s a genre that I’m really not used to. I mean, I’m usually in the library doing homework until 11:30 or 12 am when my friends get off work or people might see me active on discord or hell, I might be reblogging or liking a post or two, but that’s because it doesn’t require much thought and commitment.

I’m backlogged on the things I need to read and reblog, and I swear I’ll get around to them, just rn, I gotta focus on hw and enjoy being around friends since when school’s out at the end of April, I won’t see them again until Pride (though it’s unknown if I’ll ever see one of them again since he graduates soon, and he’s going off the radar for whatever reason).

Also, I have a bit of a minor writers block--but I do sometimes bug one of my friends with thoughts and ideas for SSTK, mostly silly stuff but still stuff nonetheless.

I’ve got two asks to get to, and I’ll answer them at some point when I don’t feel exhausted.

Next week will be my first seminar where I have to do an actual interview and an actual notetaking to write an actual article that wasn’t fictional or from videos.

Guys, I still have no idea how to write ledes.

They suck.

Newswriting is annoying because I can only use “he said”, “she said” AND ITS LIKE. NO. THATS BORING. LEMME JUST. EXPAND. DESCRIBE THINGS. My professor has told me a few times, “But that’s not factual, it can’t be attributed.”

I’m getting better, I guess.

So basically Tuesday

Do i even remember this morning

This morning I woke up and I was just so. Tired. So tired. Like hard to move in a literal way. 

It was either this morning or yesterday - I think yesterday but when I went to open my blinds to let the light in it was like blue. Maybe that was Monday. Anyway.

Last night I slept in the dark with the door completely closed and the kitchen light off. I guess there was nothing scary to me about the dark anymore.

This morning I took a painful shower and I got dressed in my lined mom jeans that I’ve been avoiding and my grey turtleneck, and my denim jacket. I knew I’d sweat through the turtleneck. I was in denial. I packed a bag. I made some tea. I put my last lara bar in my pocket. I walked to Ryder. 

Meeting with Jesse at 8:45. Was amazing. 

I blabbed and he actually made sense of it. 

So. Sounds like you like to make shit. 

Yeah. 

If you wanna do the new york thing and pound the pavement for a while you can. If you want to stay in boston... you can.

- He said I could get into movement right now. Ugh. Yesterday was the last day to drop a class without “withdrew” on transcript. 

- If I wanna do a BFA program and just grind it out and wear black every day and be in a conservatory setting I can- probably not gonna be this year. That’s okay.

- MFA is an option. Maybe not recommended unless you have a trust fund or a strong desire to teach

It’s weird right. You’re here for theatre and surrounded by like. STEM majors. They’re robots.

Advice for acting & life: don’t wait for someone to teach you. don’t wait to be instructed. If the opportunity arises to learn and do, do something.

Okay shop for 4 hours. Climbed scaffolding. Super grateful Julia Chase a normal human being was there.  Mätthew’s nice and it’s fine. I hate Jenny. Jeanie. Whatever her name is. And that other kid whose name I don’t remember but he has an absurdly low voice and a beard and he’s tall and he’s stupid. I apologize for the strong language. Ultimately I don’t hate them I just like can hardly stand being around them because they’re just so cringey and rude and like the combo makes me want to go off. It makes me wanna be like yo. Jennie. I know. And stop holding the screw while you drill. That’s why you keep bleeding. But we got a lot done and especially when it was just me julia and matthew i really did like save the day with my ideas several times. fun! draining though and hadnt eaten in like a while besides the lara bar

Home. Was gonna research summer while eating my ubereats smoothie bowl because Jugos closed at 5 and it was like 3 and i wanted to sit and eat and research. No thank u Bgood u are a heartbreak at the moment. 

Accidentally didnt put in my address for ubereats. What was in there was Park Plaza. Mhm. Ow. I called to fix my mistake but it was already on the way. 3 miles away. via bike. Angry ubereats biker. 

I went to atm at MARINO and got money out, crying, came back, waited. Called mom weeping. He got here. He was biking away. What? I said hey excuse me he said “it dropped. It fuckin dropped. Im sorry okay you wont get charged it dropped.” I made him take $10 and apologized for the mistake and he said he was sorry for freakin out, sorry for making me cry. He made me think of Maddie Dinsmore. SO, MUCH. He said you’re a female I’m sorry I hate making girls cry and I said oh no trust me you didnt. I said the address I sent it to by accident was just a place I was at with my boyfriend like a month ago and we just broke up and I never order ubereats but i was really hungry so it made me cry.

And he said youre obviously hungry and you didnt even get your food and offered to go get me something from nearer by. He said he was moving to california on friday. I gave him the $10 and said no no that’s fine but good luck in California.

 I don’t know why I felt the need to overshare to this stranger. I think it was two things. One was that I saw someone who felt very badly and who’d just biked 3 miles and who wasnt getting paid for it. I am a decent liar sometimes. When it seems like the right thing to do. Or at least I have been. But I’m so fuckin done with that. Not a bone in my body had the capacity in that moment to say oh no it’s not you I totally just bombed a test I literally just didn’t have it in me. But I didn’t want this person to have any guilt or sadness from today. So I just told the truth. Because yeah he was mad and it made me cry but ultimately it wouldn’t have if not for the circumstances. Because the circumstances made me feel stupid and like essentially I started feeling well enough to eat and okay enough not to be scared to eat or to at least be brave enough to leap that hurdle and the universe said fuck you. You should be hurting. And you tried to eat and this is what happens. I don’t believe that to be true. It’s just how it felt in the moment. 

And I’m also just so heartbroken and it couldnt hurt to tell this person that I’ll never see again, who could judge me if he wanted but whose judgment would ultimately have no bearing on my life

Back inside. Back in bed. Talked to mom. 

Made eggs.

ok so my mom is going back to school to actually finish a degree (which, like, go her bc that shit isn’t easy at any age let alone when you’re 40) & rn she’s in the 2nd of 3 college algebra classes that are required for her program & she’s taking them all in a row to get them done & over with. my sisters & i have been helping her through it, bc we’ve actually taken a math class in this century & mostly remember how to do things & on top of being the 40-year-old freshman my mom is dyslexic af & doesn’t have a math brain & all that fun stuff. you’d think it’d be totally fine, right?

while i’m the kind of person that has been all but conditioned into not asking for help, my mom will ask for help at the first sign of trouble. & since the dynamic between us is so willy wonky & she is so much Like That™ (see my “my mom is problematic tag” for tip of iceberg), me “helping” her is primarily doing the problem for her, either in my head to check her work because she’s been on the same section for over an hour & is frustrated to the point that heads are about to start rolling unless she gets this next problem right & can finally move on or on paper so she can see what the hell she needs to do because holy shit this shit is explained in a language not even traditional college kids who are used to hearing stuff like this can understand. the number of times i have silently taught myself something just to turn around and attempt to explain it to her are staggering.

my mom is inside working on hw at the kitchen table. i’m out in the backyard, vibing at a picnic table we have out there & facetiming with melanie bc two years prior had been the concert where we met in person for the first time & we were being sappy af. at one point my mom comes out to ask me a question, which i could answer pretty quick & it was all good.

a little while later, she comes back out. she’s starting a new section, topic, whatever ya wanna call it, & it was similar to what she was doing before but it was like a different way of doing it. i hadn’t seen it before, but there was an example that walked you through how to do it, so ya girl learned. melanie is vibing on facetime, literally the most patient person on the planet & the greatest friend i could ask for. once i understand, i try to start explaining.

i feel the need to mention that i was a touch intoxicated (on the tail-end of my first hard cider of the day), which was known to my mother bc the nearly empty bottle was sitting on the picnic table in front of me. this would not be the first time i’ve helped her with math while intoxicated. it will not be the last (unless i magically never help her with math again, which hahahahaha fat chance). there’s a chance i was on my second drink, but i’m pretty sure it was my first. idk for sure (monkey brain memory), but either way i was a little gone but not that far.

i walk my mom through the steps once. she gets parts of it (like i said, it’s similar to what she was doing before) but overall still doesn’t get it which, like, fair. i go through it again. after a 3rd time, there’s a small thing she’s stuck on that isn’t part of the overall technique. then she starts asking me why she has to do this, why it works like that, why is there a -1. i try answering her why questions, but she keeps asking the exact same questions. she’s fixated on why -2 divided by 2 is -1. she thinks it should be 0. the amount of flagrant disregard for the basic laws of algebra & math in general, & the fact that i apparently can’t possibly know these things that she doesn’t know, really gets to me. she asks me why one more time, & i finally lose it.

i say (& this is paraphrased bc my memory is absolute shit), “because i have a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from [insert school name] & took 6 semesters of math while i was there & know what i’m talking about when it comes to math, that’s why!” in this weird, high-pitched yell that was trying really hard not to be a yell bc we were outside & also bc i was a daughter yelling at their mother & also also bc i was intoxicated & trying so desperately to act like i wasn’t.

there was this moment of silence where we just looked at each other. i was trying not to laugh, bc my go-to when there’s even a little stress or tension in any situation is humor & my brain was jumping right to “this is the most absurd situation you have ever been in in your entire life. you just had to yell at your mother about math. remember when she taught you the real long division bc the school was teaching you some shitty confusing way to do it? remember when she taught you about fractions two years before the school did? & now she’s doubting your math knowledge. she’s been telling everybody & their brother on social media how proud she is of you graduating college, & you just had to remind her that you’re the one with the bachelor’s degree. not her. all because she thinks she knows more than you. holy shit. you can’t make this shit up.”

after she was done staring at me, i shit y’all not, she shrunk. she made herself small. she rolled her shoulders forward, & hung her head, & reached forward with this little dinosaur arm to grab her scratch paper from in front of me. she physically victimized herself bc i had yelled at her, & i fell for it. an apology started rolling off my tongue before i could even think to make it stop, which i’m sure is exactly what she wanted. she grabbed all her stuff & went back inside, & she soon stopped doing hw for the night.

but y’all, maybe it’s bc i’ve never really yelled or been at all, yanno, confrontational about her behavior, but i’ve never seen her switch her behavior that aggressively to get what she wants before. i’ve seen smaller doses of things that point to narcissistic behavior in the past, but never anything like this. nothing ever this glaring. my only qualm with my reaction, & i know this isn’t my fault especially since this is the first time it’s happened this aggressively to me & i only really recognized what happened after the fact, is that i played into it. i gave her what she wanted. at least i know what to expect in the future & can be prepared for the next time this eventually happens, at any scale, so i won’t play into it & give her what she wants.

“In general, the overall quality of this lesson is great, it shined some light on how to process to grasp more OOD concepts and knowledge. However there are 4 things I feel that could have been better, and that is why i took one star off. 1. There are certain trivial things that could have been left out, for example a couple class that implement one particular interface, if the implementation is for one has been mentioned, and if the second implementation is pretty march the same without tricky parts, then the typing of the code and repititive explanation should be fast forwarded. I am not asking to the same standard, but at least please do not delay it till I am almost through the class. Overall, the class is good, the material is just what I am looking for.
