Eight of Cups

Disappointment, abandonment, withdrawal, walking away, leaving behind, disillusionment, escapism. Giving joy, mildness, timidity, honour, modesty.

The close of a year is the perfect time to consider what you need to release, and what is worth taking with you as you move forwards. Don’t look back in regret or bitterness. There is no need to consider the past with shame, or deny it completely. You don’t have to hide, or flee - but you can unburden yourself in whatever way feels right.

"Great, you're not getting it." Janie says with a shrug as she heads back outside to the clerk's sputtering.

Fuck it's hot out. Fuck she misses the A/C. Fuuuuuck she's gonna have to find another bookstore.

Still, Janie's pride has taken a lot of beatings recently. She has no desire to take anymore.

"Maybe any shopkeeper will just drop story lore on me if I walk in. Like if I walk into that Laundromat the guy collecting quarters might tell me who the fuck the Captain is." she muses.
