As for where to start with the games--this is all really depending on how your own personal playstyle! Do you like games that are more easy going and light on plot? Or do you like ones with heavy amounts of story? Or do you prefer games that are a perfect blend of the two? Pokemon's got a mixed bag of all of the above so you really can't go wrong

If you're into that really nostalgia feel I'd recommend starting out with the first Pokemon game I ever played as a kid, which was Pokemon Emerald! You can actually play this for free by downloading a Gameboy Advance emulator and the Emerald ROM. I have a lot of fond memories of Emerald and it's still one of my favorite games to date. I actually even prefer Emerald over its remakes (Pokemon Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire) bc it just doesn't quite hit the same lol. I think even without having played Emerald as a kid it'll just spark that nostalgic feeling? It's that kind of game, at least to me :")

Going off of that if you REALLY want to hit nostalgia central and start where it all began, Pokemon FireRed/LeafGreen is also a good game to start out with. It's a remake of Pokemon Red/Blue, which were the first ever Pokemon games that were made. Personally I'm not a super huge Gen 1 fan bc I feel like it's been WAY overdone at this point (it's had two remakes already) but if you've never played a Pokemon game again it's definitely a good starting point. It's barely got any plot so it's really a game you can just dive into and enjoy without focusing too hard on the story. AND as an added bonus, Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver is the direct sequel to Gen 1 (and a remake of the original Gold/Silver/Crystal) so I'd definitely play that one as well, it's lots of fun!

Of course I will also recommend Pokemon Black/White and Black 2/White 2, which is generation 5 and my FAVORITE mainline Pokemon games of all time. BW released right before the transition to the 3D games so it still has sprite art. It's a GORGEOUS game honestly and I think it's really well balanced with story VS gameplay. It's got great characters and fantastic design elements (with everything honestly like the Pokemon designs are great, the character designs are great, the city/town designs are great, etc) and the most KICKASS soundtrack ever (looking at you Driftveil City AKA Toothless dancing meme music). I could go on and on and on about Gen 5 for hours lmao I really hold it near and dear to my heart. Also it's one of the very few games that actually has a sequel which I LOVE. BW2 takes place two years after BW and I love the story and character progression 🥰

Shouting out Pokemon Platinum as well, I know it's a huge fan favorite and honestly I also love it very much!! Platinum came out before BW did so it's got that early DS era feel to it. It's got a decent plot and classic fun gameplay elements. Also Pokemon Legends Arceus which ties directly into Platinum as its prequel (but you should play Platinum first? I know it's confusing lol). PLA is SUPER fucking fun, it's got a completely different gameplay style and mechanic than regular Pokemon games, and it ties in with Platinum so well.

And to my last few recommendations -

Pokemon Sun and Moon!! There's mixed feelings about this one from a lot of people but it's one of my personal favorites...I think people dislike that it's so plot heavy, there's a LOT of dialogue even when starting the game so if you're not into that I wouldn't go with SM. But I LOVE games that are heavy with plot and SM just does it so well. The characterization is really well done and I love watching Lillie go through her development arc 🤧 But yeah it's SM NOT Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon which are like. The same games but Worse. USUM took SM's plot and stomped all over it so I would not go for those lol

And, of courseeee. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet! These are the most recent mainline games to release and ohhh my god. Is the game laggy and bugged out as hell? Yes. Is it also fucking FANTASTIC and has made me cry multiple times? ALSO yes. If you don't mind occasional shitty graphics then please please PLEASE play SV. The open world aspect is a ton of fun, the new Pokemon designs are so charming, the characters are wonderful, and the STORY??? The plot literally blew my socks off the first time I played it. SV endgame you will always be the king of my heart. It's definitely heavier than any previous Pokemon game and it had me reeling for DAYS after. The story is just. So so so good. And we get a continuation of the story kicking ass in the DLC. I love SV to death it really redeemed Pokemon after the disaster that was gen 8 for me (and it's REALLY fun to shiny hunt in).

And LAST but certainly not least. My favorite Pokemon game of all time period ever in the history of Pokemon. Not a mainline game but a side/spinoff game--Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky!! If you want the classic Pokemon experience I probably wouldn't start with this since it's so different from the mainline games but I'd 10000% play it after finishing your first Pokemon game. It's a dungeon crawler, you get to BE a Pokemon, the music is phenomenal, the gameplay is phenomenal, the story is PHENOMENAL, everything about it is incredible and I will love this game until the day I die. I CANNOT recommend it enough. It's so so SO good and it means so much to me I can't even. Please play PMD Sky this goes to everyone who hasn't played it I prommy it's worth it

So basically:

Easy games with no/light plot: FRLG, Emerald, HGSS

Games with a perfect blend of actual gameplay and plot: BW/B2W2, Platinum, PLA

Games that hit HEAVY with plot/storyline: SM, SV, PMD Sky

Honestly you really cannot go wrong no matter where you start out. Even if it's with one of the games I DIDN'T personally recommend, all the mainline games have their own unique charm and each generation has its die hard fans (UNOVA GANG RISE). I've played all of them and they're all enjoyable!

As for the anime, my personal recommendations are the XY saga and the SM saga! The SM saga is my ultimate favorite, it's really cute and charming and fun, with some heavier plot arcs sprinkled in so it's a good blend between lighthearted stuff and more serious story. XY is VERY plot-heavy especially in the latter part, there's a lot of character development and crazy stuff going on, so I'd go for that one if you want to get hit hard with Feels. I haven't watched as much of the anime so I'm sure other people would recommend other seasons (I know the original saga, the Hoenn saga and the DP saga are fan favorites).

I'd also recommend watching the sub instead of the dub,, especially if you haven't grown up watching the Pokemon anime like me the dub is VERY hit or miss. I prefer subs as well bc the dub actually cuts out a LOT of stuff? I know for SM they had fun extra little bits at the beginning and ending of each episode that the dub just. Didn't include. For some reason? Like they'd cut out entire scenes. Idk. It's up to you either way tho ^^

A lot of work goes into them, and I have the greatest respect for COD render artists, so I don't want to be compared to them—I did nowhere near the same amount of work that goes into their renders.

If I can be real with y’all a bit, I have a feeling that Indigo Disk might be the last bit of main series Pokemon content on the Switch. It’s obvious that the system is in its twilight years, and it’s not long before the next console inevitably gets announced, but from a conversation that me and @thesmashwaffle had, Indigo Disk has a bit in common with the Ultra games from Gen 7, and that can be applied to both Sun and Moon and Scarlet and Violet as well.

Both games have the following in common.

Battle mechanics involving elemental crystals (Z-Moves and Terastillization).

Groups of strange, otherworldly late-game Pokemon that serve as threats to the regions they’re introduced if left alone. (The Ultra Beasts and the Paradox Pokemon).

Trios of characters that include a spunky rival wanting to get stronger a troubled kid related to a major figure involved with the main story, and a misunderstood recluse standing with a team of band of misfits (Hau and Nemona, Lillie and Arven, and Gladion and Penny).

The aforementioned teams of misfits (Team Skull and Team Star).

The box legendaries being a main part of the games instead of randomly appearing at the end (Nebby and the Raidons).

The champion battles being handled in unique ways (The Alola games having the player be the first champion of the region and defeating the title from other trainers, while SV has the player be one of many champions, along with only fighting against the Pokemon League once).

Third legendary who are involved with the aforementioned battle gimmicks and groups of late-game Pokemon (Necrozma with Z-Moves and the Ultra Beasts, and Terapagos with Terastilizing and the Paradox ‘Mons).

The Indigo Disk has the return of Pokeball throwing styles, which were introduced in the Alola game.

And while things like the return of multiple starters and legendaries might sound like another point to add to the list, a lot of other Pokemon games in recent memory have done that exact thing, so I’m not gonna count it.

Point of the matter is this; In the very same manner that the Ultra games were the main series’ last hurrah for the 3Ds era, it’s very possible that the second half of the SV DLC will be the last content for Pokemon on the Switch. It’s rather obvious that the console is nearing the end of its life, it’s been going on for more than 6 years at this point, and the Indigo Disk has this same air of finality that I haven’t felt since 2017. I say the franchise is about to leave the Switch behind to move on to whatever new console Nintendo has planned.

At the very least, they better not rush out the next game, dammit. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. These things need more time in the oven to be better than what GameFreak’s been cooking with. As much as I’ve had a lot of fun with my copy of Scarlet, I’m more than willing to wait a few years for another Pokemon game. No matter if it’s another generation, a new Legends game, or another remake, I much rather prefer to wait 3 or 4 years for one of these things if it means we get something among the lines of BOTW or Pikmin 4.

With that said, I’m at least ready for Indigo Disk when it drops. Me and the boys have been busy for a while.

All right, lemme tell you some words and what they mean when used in the dicemaking-world !

Keep in mind that this is not a universal way of working/ doing things, it's just my experience. Everyone does dicemaking their own way, as they should as long as it works for them.

dice : polyhedral, ttrpg dice. Not just d6s used for Yatzee with your Gran (no shade, Yatzee with Gran is awesome, get her some handmade ones for her bday)

dicemaker : a person who handmakes dice; also see "dice goblin" and "dice gremlin".

dX (insert a number for X) : a die with X amount of faces. D6 = a six-sided die.

sharp-edged : most handmade dice are sharp-edged (and some d4 can stab your foes), as opposed to factory-made dice which have rounded corners and edges

spin-down : a die (usually d20) with numbers in ascending order around the die, usually used to track points (health, mana, whatever) in various games.

stabbies, stabby boi : sharp dice that you could commit crimes with

atlernate shapes : new "weird" shapes that differ from the traditionnal factory-made dice; think crystal shapes, clipped corners, elongated shapes, etc...

dice goblin : a dice enthusiast

masters : a 3D-printed model of a die/a set of dice. Most dicemakers sand and polish these up to a mirror finish to make molds with them.

forbidden cronch : dice

PPE: Personal Protection Equipment; resin is not good for your skin, for your lungs, or any other soft tissues of yours. Nitrile gloves, a respirator with proper cartridges and a well ventilated space are a must for resin work.

molds : silicone molds dicemaker usually make themselves using 3D printed resin masters, there are different styles of molds; most common a sprue molds and cap molds.

resin : what handmade dice are usually made of, it's epoxy resin.

jesmonite / faux stone : a particular type of resin, makes dice that look like actual rocks and stones

a pour, pouring : a resin-pouring session. We mix our resin, our pigments, flex our skills, pour it into our molds.

math rocks : dice

dice gremlin : a dice enthusiast

silicone : most molds used in dicemaking are made of silicone.

pressure pot : a hermetic sealed type of tank, usually converted by the maker from pressure paint tanks, it's where we put the dice right after pouring to get rid of bubbles in the resin.

compressor : used in tandem with the pressure pot, it allows us to pressurize the pot in order to shrink the bubbles still present in the resin to shrink to undetectable size. Some makers use bike pumps in lieu of compressors.

forbidden candy : dice

raw : dice that just came out of their mold. They're uninked, unsanded, unpolished, and might look like they partied too hard.

flashing : not what you're thinking of. It's a thin sheet of resin that forms where the mold connect to its lid, or near the sprue

finishing : the steps after the dice came out of the molds; each maker has their own variant of it.

sanding : first step of the finishing process, the dice are sanded with whatever grit the maker deems appropriate, to even out faces and remove marks and/or flashing

click clacks : dice

polishing : second step of the finishing process : it turns sanded face back to a beautiful shiny finish.

inking : last step of the finishing process: painting the numbers in

blessing the dice : when the animal of a dicemaker boops the dice in an insanely cute manner, the dice have been blessed

Ok so love me a classic super nerd Flora, absolute grease monkey that girl, would casually rip off the back of the slate and fix something in there without pausing her sentence, I'd also pin her down as a sewing nerd, not just cause she was the one who made all the champions clothes but cause i think she has like a 3d puzzle brain, and both mechanical problems and clothing construction slot right into that perfectly (i have ideas about all the zelda's being some flavor of fiber art girlys but that's an aside thing)

I also!! love dragon traits!! on Flora!!! which is why i've be hesitating with her redesign cause my brain is struggling to figure out the engineer-draconic design marrying without it getting way too busy

Shes totally got autism, her and Wild got that opposite autism disease, he's strong silent very non verbal and shes a massive chatterbox that cant help herself but explain everything, he's super hands on with everything, can't help himself but touch to figure out what stuff is and shes super squiked out by texture and wears her gloves so she doesn't feel any bad sensations, i imagine she whacked off her hair cause she couldn't stand the feeling of it long but like put up with it because of her father/for the princess image? (also maybe inspired Riju to cut her own hair shorter, i love Riju and Flora being besties) Wild loved braiding her hair as a fidget thing and grew his own out cause he liked hers so much, I think she began to understand why he liked that so much when she cut her own and used her hairstyling knowledge on him, it's way more fun to do it to someone else then to wear those styles all day you know?

If she keeps some form of scales after totk i think she picks at them as a nervous habit (and probably gets multiple slaps on the wrist from Wild to not pull them for research Zelda please-) i also really like the idea of her like, back spike guys? being like fingernails, it that she still has the crystalline spikes back there and so she can still lie down on her back Wild helps her chip them down to like flat crystal discs on her back, they still probably grow and they need to be cut off regularly but she probably has a tonne of the crystal lying around and makes stuff out of it, also the antler horns! (this is not from my love of scott empires rivendell shut up) she keeps the antlers! and they have actual deer antler stuff! like they will just randomly fall off! and they will be super velvety when they regrow! the image of the soft velvet falling away to reveal like glowing holy crystal underneath is a sick af image and also its horrifically gorey looking cause the velvet has alot of blood vessels in it, i dont think its painful? it just looks like a horror movie lmao

I have some stupid ideas around both Wild and Flora having adhd, in the sense that Wild had the inattentive type and Flora the hyperactive type before everything, Wild being a knight spaces out very easily, is terrible with organizing his personal quarters, boredom is a mind killer and find focus on instructions and tasks near impossible, Flora as the princess with the weight of the world on her shoulders struggles with fidgeting and standing still, being impatient and acting out of turn, by 17 she had social rules all but beaten into her and is kind of living in a personally design hell, but after Wild comes out of the Shrine of Resurrection and after Flora wakes up from the 100 years of sealing Ganon and the millennia being a Dragon, they both now have the combined type lmao, being trapped for so long outside of time has made focus for Flora hard and fucked with her attention span, she also now spaces out alot, i think it would also have the exact opposite effect, and she would seek out excitement and desperately avoid boredom and quiet

I also think shes got echolalia! her stims are mainly vocal and she will absently repeat fun phrases she hears, Purah is a terrible person for her to hang out with because of it, she has called Wild 'Linky' without realising multiple times and he doesn't have the heart to tell her About Purah, her and Flora get on like a house on fire and its terrible for everyone around them

I personally love some exploration of botw/totk and the power/wisdom/courage goops, i'd think flora would put alot of research into the blue shiekah energy and canonically she was looking into the malice/gloom, i'd love her looking into the green Zonai energy and the purification chamber that mummydorf was being used as a battery in and the conversion between the 3 goops (i need to stop or i will start ranting about gods and divinity speculation again) all this to bring up the fun images in my head of her using the glowy blue water in like attacks and animations an stuff like Wilds ascend, if you've seen the kda more music video the little glowy finger trails would be cool for her or even like full steam punk mechanical stuff with tubes full of the stuff, considering that the blue stuff stores information and how she uses her own tears as a dragon to store her memories a collaboration with the Zora and Sidon specifically who can control water to make a more robust storage system that cant be destroyed in a calamity style cataclysm would be cool, like Monomon's archives in Hollow Knight if you know of that, you could even crystalize it to be like the Zora history tables?

I really like the idea of Zelda needing like reading glasses? maybe some lingering weirdness from the dragon eyes or she just reads too much, she has a pair of glasses she doesn't wear very often for reading and for looking at small machinery components, maybe some form of prescription goggles made by Purah? I think she probably has needed them for a long time but only actually started using them recently, i think shes a thin wire frame with smaller rectangular ish lenses kinda gal, very perched low on her nose while sitting reading in bed

Hi, so I'm wondering how I could channel an unknown energy? Because lately I feel as though something/someone important has been trying to speak to me and I'm not sure who or what it is. I thought about trying to channel this energy but I'm not very experienced with that, so I was wondering if you have any tips? Thank you so much!

idk why i feel the need to say this, but it isn’t unknown if you only don’t know them/it in this version of reality. my main advice for channeling someone you don’t know in the 3D would be this: asking the universe to speak to the being that has been trying to reach out to you!

literally, by just affirming or speaking “i am channeling the spirit that has been trying to get in contact with me” is enough. you just have to believe it! the universe will never lead you astray. but, here is my channeling process for anyone else who wants to know! it’s quite simple, but it does take a lot of belief in order to complete it

My Channeling Process

meditate

i primarily do this for my focus, but if i’m channeling on a whim i won’t do it (like before i go to bed, i may just affirm)

2. protection affirmations!

another way is crystals that are blessed w protection around/near you

“i am divinely protected by my spirit guides, deities, angels, and the universe itself”

“i will not channel any negative energies during this session, as i am divinely protected.”

“i am protected by the universe, nothing i don’t want to channel will come within my reach.”

“i am in control of how i channel, and my guides protect me.”

“every positive energy that has looked after me and will look after me is protecting me during this channeling session”

i usually visualize a circle of some of the guides i know, but i used to visualize white humanoid figures ‘dancing’/circling around me.

3. affirm/call the person i want to channel.

now, i usually channel loki (or he channels me bc he’s a BITCH N SCARED THE SHIT OUT OF ME!) or my soulmate — the only other beings i’ve channeled were gage (a spirit guide) kairi (a spirit guide) piper (a spirit guide), my dr best friend, and lucifer (the deity, he was nice).

to call on them; i similar say “i am channeling ____” and if they’re from a dr then i usually add “from ____ desired reality.” I mix this in between affirmations.

4. ask them for a sign they’re present

some ways to ask are for a specific sign (like open pinterest while doing this), a touch (if you have your clairangecy activated) or other means, like a candle flicker or a lightning strike if it’s raining!

5. talk to them bro!!!

literally js chit chat! once u get the sign, you’re set. you’ll hear the voice in a different spot than your head voice. for example, my head voice can be on the left side in the front or near the top center. if i feel another voice in a different spot, or a different voice, i know it’s another being.

to end the session, you ask them to leave and say “i end this channeling session.” i often forget to say i end the session, so if im talking to my s/o before going to bed n i fall asleep, i often wake up w him 💀💀 (he’s an idiot btw)

(Previous) Miriam slowed to a stop. She carefully yet easily shifted Shep into one arm so she could use the other to point down the hallway. “Certainly. From here, you just need to take that left that we came from and…” she put that hand to her chin. “But the stairs probably messed up the order… Uh, you may have to also go back down… And then…” Curses! Why was navigating the Glornch not a problem when walking through it, but when it came to verbally describing directions, it was near impossible? Miriam shoved her hand in her pocket and dug around before pulling out a large marble. She shook it briefly and said “laundry” in a firm voice. What looked like a 3D model of a bright yellow arrow appeared in the tiny crystal ball, along with a flat 2D path beneath it that represented the hall they were in. She extended it to Teddy. “This will get you there better than I can. I would like it back eventually, but there’s no rush on that.” She started to leave once more.

Teddy blankly accepted the ball before staring at it in amazement. How long had he longed to see a map of the Glornch? Especially when it was more confusing than the Skullship itself.

After a long pause Dr. Walters said, "Thank you. I'm honored that you entrusted it to me."

Then he followed the yellow arrow out. And once he was out of Revenard Miriam's sight he periodically stopped to sketch everything the orb showed.

(prev) Shep’s prognosis drastically calmed Dr. Walters. Even brought a hint of a smile to his face. He immediately bowed out of gratitude and said, “Thank you Revenard. Does anyone have those things you grew up with and go back to at random times in your life?

For me, it is the Etrian Odyssey 3DS games. I grew up playing EO4 and then moved on to fanfic. Was so happy when I found the fics in there at the time. Especially from this one author because I was still young in my love for BL turn LGBTQA era. It was that one author’s fanfics and the 3DS games that drew me back to them at random points in my life.

I did take a break near the end of EO4 because I couldn’t defeat the Cursed Prince and the Leviathan. But then the Untold Series were being released and I loved playing them to the point I completed the main story for both. Then I took another break from the games until EO5 came out but only played enough to the third Stratum and then paused again. Though in between all of the pauses throughout the years I have been reading my favorite EO author’s fanfics when I am in the mood for EO but not wanting to play the game.

Now I am enjoying the games again and looking back at how much fun I had with my guilds and imagining what all of my guild member’s dynamics were with each other.

Currently I now need to defeat the Titan to save the Priestess, clear the Crystal Stratum to continue the rest of the journey to climb Iori’s Yggdrasil, and start Nexus when I am done with those two games. (Yes, I made sure to get them in the 3DS eshop before it shut down). Then when that is done, I could and start the first three Etrian Odyssey games that started it all on the Switch.

Hopefully in the months to years it will take me to finish EO1-3, EOU3 will be released on the Switch. I’ve heard a lot of good things about EO3 and can’t wait to enjoy it on my own.

Anyways, this is just some ramblings from a long time on and off Etrian Odyssey fan who has been feeling nostalgic about the games and need to get back into playing and reading fanfic from that one author one day.

Super Paper ROBLOX: Hundred Year Symphony

Act 1, Prologue: Into the Forest

(This is a rework of an original version of this that I've done in like April of this year, that I only had one chapter of. Reworking on it because the original version [Now deleted] was honestly shit, shit enough to have me not want to continue it. here's hoping this version isn't shit too)

Wiscara, walking on the forest path, was pondering something. “If Antgon was just a kid, why did people like Rozanda follow him? Even someone like Tretone.” she thought to herself. She kept walking until she saw a slight red glow in the distance. “What the?” she slowly sneaked towards the glow. Staying in the bushes, she pushes some leaves out of her view, showing her a group of robed people talking around a summoning circle. A robed person with a cut in their hood for a broken halo to go through walked up to the circle with a large red crystal with the silhouette of a robloxian inside. “This will have to do, a group of us may have failed but we can release him with one of those pure hearts.” the person said. “Let us begin then.” a familiar voice said before the circle was surrounded. Between the robes, Wiscara could see the crystal begin to crack and break as the ground began shaking. 

All stopping suddenly when the crystal and the person inside breaks into pieces and gets pulled into the marked circle, with inky like liquid coming out of the circle. The group backed up, out of Wiscara’s pov, giving her almost clear view of the liquid starting to take shape. “What the-?” she accidentally quietly spit out, before covering her mouth. Causing one of the robed people’s, near the bush she is in, attention for a split second. Unintentionally saved from being spotted when a robloxian-sized rubber hose cartoony ram demon ink creature finally forms.

“Ram ink demon”:*stretching* Ah, Finally free.*sees their form before looking to the crowd* Alright, who failed to get the book?

Familiar Voice: My lord, to be fair. We were only following your orders, which were to follow Antagon’s orders and get the book. You trusted the little necromancer kid to “take the wheel”.

“Ram ink demon”:...He was a kid?! *sighs* Are you kidding me… Well, You and your group still didn’t get the book, so you 3ds don’t have any use to me anymore. 

broken halo person: My lord, please reconsider their punishment. They can still have more use. I promise they won’t fail again, if you-

“Ram ink demon”:*senses someone* hold it… *turned his head around suspiciously* we’re being watched..

“Oh crap” Wiscara thought to herself, before quickly and quietly back away. Once she was a good distance away, she ran back on the dirt path. “This can’t be good; I need to tell the others.” she thought as she ran with all her might.
