OK, so, I’be been told today,
by a middle class American woman in her 50ties, living in Florida, that “any time Democrats are in power, they run the economy into the ground, any time Republicans are in power, economy flourishes”. And, for that reason, she used to be a Democrat, but will now vote Republican.
I said that this is not what I’m reading; “what you read is biased”. I don’t have time, willingness or in-depth knowledge to argue, but I imagine there are some hard numbers about economy, that are, maybe, unbiased? 🤔

*leans on table while twirling my pearls like a 50ties housewife on the phone with the gals*
haven't you heard? Kevins house got SWATed just yesterday i know right? soooo bizzare like who could've thought he'd have bombs in his basement i wonder how he got them and who called the SWAT
(it was me. i placed the bombs and called the SWAT but shhhh making origami dragons and model origami swans for Sarabi is more important)
Now that he is in prison, Kevin also gets charged with conspiracy to commit fraud since he tried getting Sarabi to stay legally dead and since he was getting Sarabi's benefits... well, that falls under fraud. (If it doesn't, pretend it does.)
The only question is, who snitched on him?
(It was his loser boyfriend, turns out he's not as loyal to Kevin as Sarabi was. He cut losses with Kevin as soon as Kevin landed himself in prison. Fitting partner for a man like Kevin.)

Hi Dreamy beloved
What are the aspects or parts of writing that while you're doing them you feel most assured that you're good at them? On the other side, what are the parts that it's apparent to you, at least, that you're not so good at?
I'm really good at writing deep interesting characters, dynamics and relationships, different povs, introspection, emotional scenes. Dialogues are fun as well, I like rereading them after.
I don't have any particular weaknesses, just things I don't like to write, so I either don't write them (detailed visual/apprerence/setting/food descriptions/complex and epic/action/external plots), so they are missing for those who do like them or they are not done well...cause I don't practice them cause I don't like them lol. This is only a problem when I don't like doing something that would be good for the story, that's why I design stories around what I like doing ha. So being self-indulgent is the really not a question of should/shouldn't but of quality writing. Who would have thought. What a good reason to write like that.
I have been told by my perfectionalistic relatives I don't write "close enough to real life", neither dialogue nor characters and I'm sorry about hearing that, cause it's way too insecurity inducing, and keeping me from evaluating it objectively for myself (what do 50ties know about how 20ties talk anyway?). It's what's been keeping me from writing a purely slice of life story version of Tears of Iron (admittedly the desire is relatively new as I grow bored with the fantasy elements of my setting). Fantasy has always been my puffer, my distancing method to not to get too close, but I do think that's a desirable if scary thing to aim for.
So maybe my characters hug inappropriately and talk about "protecting" each other, which normal people don't talk about and who said contemporary/romance/ya or na books are realistic anyway? So many books about saving/changing/helping someone, when that's not usually manageable/possible/desirable to experience in real life.
Yeah anyway, using your ask to talk about current writing concerns. And these / are a thing now, cause I want to say 3+ things at once.
Thanks for the ask, Sleepy darling

I love women with wide, tight belts as used in late 50ties or beginning of the 60ties. I am an elder Swiss man and would be extremely glad receiving any reply of people, particulary of females, with same interest. thks Rodolfo

Archeology stuff I cried about today:
Some time in the late bronze age/urnfield culture, a man in his 40-50ties was buried in a special graveyard for warriors, located in southern Germany. He shared his grave with two other men his age and they probably died within a close timeframe .
He was given not only a sword and two ceramic pots, but also a delicate gold ring, worn on his left hand middle finger. The ring would be a modern size 60 showing that he had very strong hands.
I don't even know why this last part makes me so emotional, but just the knowledge that he wore this ring and that he had strong hands made me realize once again, how incredibly human we have always been. I know men with hands like his, men his age, men with golden rings. I can make myself a picture of him, probably no to accurate, but still.
Archeology truly forges a connection between us today and all the people that came before us and sometimes I just have to cry about that.

Critical thinking, China's dark history w/ Li Schoolland
Tumblr media
(Picture published by Diego Jimenez on Unsplash.com)
China is a good example of how good intentions can pave the road to hell for people. The CPC (Chinese Communist Party) in China got a lot of followers under the motto of equality and liberation until it overtook China in 1949 and ruled in cruelty with a communist mindset.
In the early 50ties, the government, calling themselves “the parents” used the law to scare and intimidate its people. They literally took everything from the people, the rich and the poor, and redistributed it according to their own will. People lost their rights to property and business owners were persuaded to give their businesses to the government. The refusal led to imprisoned or death. The government started to “steal for steel”. All possessions containing steel (pots, knives, etc.) were collected to the government's advantage. Due to the lack of right food distribution, a shortage of food forced people to “tighten their belts”. Soon, what didn’t kill people was used for food. Desperation has spread. Children couldn’t pull themselves together and started stealing food. Li told of children beaten to death, and parents forced to bury their own children alive.
The government labeled people with all kinds of crimes and created enmity among its own people. Whenever someone said something against the government, they were labeled and put into a concentration camp (Jia Pi Gou). Prisoners, by identifying other people's wrongdoings, could shorten their sentences. They couldn't trust each other anymore. The impacts on the people are immeasurable. Even cannibalism became a thing. Children for example, out of hatred killed their teachers and ate them.
Growing up in communism, Li realized that if she’d make her life depended on who is ruling the country, she won’t have a life at all. She learned to focus on personal freedom, protecting it like her most precious belonging. Today she calls herself “a survivor, not a victim”. Forgiveness and deep dependence on the Lord set her free. She encourages us to "kill the victimized mind". To focus on what we love, to see ourselves and other people equally, and not label them like the Chinese culture (still) does. Devaluing ourselves will just destroy us.
Still today, China is using its power to intimate and scare others. An example is seen in China’s web threats; businesses with locations in Taiwan were forced to add “China” behind Taiwan to make clear that Taiwan is still a part of China. The shocking reality? All businesses followed the 'request'. The country hides its flaws. More than 50 years later, people are still not allowed to go to the concentration camp Jia Pi Gou. Most people live unaware of the dark history. Li calls out for awareness.
This week reminded me to appreciate my freedom and God’s daily blessings. The circumstances I grew up in shouldn't be taken for granted. I saw that things can start with good intentions but turn out bad if we aren't careful. And overall, whatever circumstances I find myself in, what truly gives me dignity is God alone.

Gitte - Soon to die rpg character
No, it's not what it sounds like.
I'm not going to intentionally kill her. Well... She's meant to die within moments of the first session. On New Years Eve. And then be reborn. Early 50ties music teacher. Soon to have her death turned over.
