Has anyone seen any meta around comparing Lydia peeling the yellow-ish wallpaper to the short story "The Yellow Wallpaper"?

I know it has to be a coincidence because I don't trust the writers, but it still makes me a bit feral to consider the comparisons

Do you think that the donor storyline pivoted at some point? We don't know the end of the storyline and I'm betting my opinion will change by season end but to me it seemed headed in one direction with all his friends not quite on board (group phone call) and then it just like disappears only to be used as a weapon against Chimney's father only to disappear again. It's like the longest storyline that quite frankly doesn't really seem to be producing any point (good or bad). I get it takes 9 months to make a baby but this thing is just tiring at this point.

i mean...for one thing, the storyline isn't wrapped up yet. we've all been watching this show long enough to know that they usually don't focus on running through and wrapping up a single storyline (especially a relatively minor one) all in one stretch. for another thing, the donor storyline isn't isolated—it's part of the larger whole of the theme of parenthood and buck's search for meaning this season. and...the way it was brought up in 6x10 actually did give us some major insights? we got a good look at how the buckley parents disregard the very notion of buck accomplishing a meaningful life change such as parenthood. we also got to hear buck talking about how exactly he perceives his role in all this to be. that's not insignificant.

...i'm not sure why you're finding it so tiring. this storyline was only in major focus for 2 episodes (animal instincts and cursed) and was briefly referred to in red flag, in a flash and recovery. that's a grand total of 5 episodes out of 15. it's a little weird that you're complaining about it "being dropped" and simultaneously saying that "it's taking too long and is getting tiring". this is how season-long storylines work. and the donor plot point, like i said, isn't existing in a vacuum.

alright casual 911 viewer roomie was traveling this week so we had to rewatch 6x11 last night, her thoughts below:

"This child (Jee)'s sleep schedule is a plot device"

when Buck get's rolled into the hospital "too many sad dads. and one very sad husband"

"HIS KIDS????????" shouted so loudly and for so long that she missed the teacher reveal and we had to rewind

Thunder by Imagine Dragons playing when coma!Buck shows up at Chimney's apartment had us both dying laughing

"No one's tchotchkes are safe" about the train in Chimney's apartment

"I hope the sister and the guy (Madney) get married at the firehouse and then gay dads (Buddie) decide to get married too in a Mamma Mia-esque 'everyone lives happily ever after' way"

Athena saying "Buck is going to be fine. He has to be" roomie responded "because this is a TV show. And he's hot. And he's one of the only single characters left"

"Awwww dream Chimney called him Buck"

"Which one is that one. They all look so similar" this is baffling to me. She got Buck, Eddie, and Doug confused all episode.

Hen saying "you'd be angry too if you lost your kid" roomie goes "THEY KILLED THE KID?????????" once again so loudly that she missed the context of how Eddie lost Christopher

"How are they not making a consistently bigger deal out of them co-raising this child. I mean I guess it's not that weird. We might have a kid together" apparently we might have a kid together, this was news to me

When Chris tells Buck he has to "come back" and coma!Buck echoes it with "I think maybe I'm supposed to come back to where it all started" she fully started sobbing. She had never seen Chris before watching this episode

"I thought she was handing him a head of cauliflower" when May is forcing a sandwich on Bobby outside the hospital. "Don't tell the people on the internet I said that!!!!" I am telling them

Had to pause for a good 15 minutes to explain the 118 extended family tree. She did not get it. To be fair the Buckley and Han parents being around does make it REALLY confusing

"ANOTHER OMINOUS TCHOTCHKE!!!!" She loved the trauma tchotchkes

"Love snarky dead drug addict dad. Wish he could stick around"

"Love how this guy floated no other alternatives beyond being in a coma dream. Like it couldn't just be a regular dream. He hasn't entertained the option that he like accidentally took a hallucinogenic drug or something" I informed her he has in fact been accidentally drugged before "Okay so I'm hearing that there were multiple other conclusions he could've come to. But he just knew it was a coma dream. okay."

Buck telling his parents "I know you did the best you could" roomie says "NO THEY DID NOT. They My Sister's Keeper'd you dude"

It is really refreshing to read your take on Buddie and whether it's been portrayed romantically yet at this point. I feel very much in the same boat, where I'm not convinced yet that they're actually going to go there, but that there have been scenes in recent seasons that definitely COULD be romantically coded, that don't necessarily make sense the way they were shot and framed if you don't read them that way.

With that in mind, what do you think of tthe green smoothie scene in the most recent ep- specifically the shot of Eddie ostensibly looking at Buck's glass, where the framing of the shot realllllly made it look like he was focused on Buck's, ahem, torso instead?

Obviously you can argue that he was of course just looking at Buck's drink, but I was honestly surprised when I went back and re-watched the scene, how they made it genuinely ambiguous, both in Eddie's expression and in the way Buck's body was very much framed in the center and in focus, not the glass. Like, Eddie's eye was caught, for several seconds, and that is traditionally a shot used to indicate attraction/interest for one character for another.

thank you, anon!! 💖 i'm not gonna lie, i watched that ep 7am on tuesday morning and haven't rewatched it since so i genuinely didn't notice eddie looking at buck in anyway out of the ordinary. i thought it was more a moment of him scrutinising buck/trying to figure out what the deal was with the smoothie without having to ask. because eddie generally Always knows what's going on with buck (as evidenced by bobby and athena turning expectantly towards him for an explanation)

so i mean, i'm more than happy to also interpret is a look of interest for my own enjoyment but i think i'd have to rewatch the ep to see if it's more noticeable/pointed a second time around!

I have finished rewatching Teen Wolf. You mention s6b to me and I become a windup doll that says "6b stydia should have been like matteo with david in the last episode of his season in druck" and "stop making the downsides of stiles' absence so clear"

Didn't mention anything about what this season does with spiders because honestly I'm not even sure how to go about it. The big web in lydia's vision is like in The Mist (like real spider's webs discovered in 2007 year of The Mist btw) but no actual spiders there. Spiders only in scenes where its the horror of thousands of tiny invertebrates with many legs. Near the start Mason mentions scarabs too and it would have been fun to see them do more with all that

5a pisses me off so much because objectively stiles's story in it is exploring his character flaw in believing he's always right and his pride, and how that leads him to lose faith in his friends very easily, yet simultaneously with the show exploring that they were saying "look we know stiles is being unreasonable, but this guy is totally not to be trusted, you shouldn't trust him, and stiles is the only one who's really seeing it, and again stiles is being a bit over the top here, but he's also right" so the ultimate takeaway was always going to be "stiles is always right" and it was made at scott's expense. and that will always annoy me.

things I've noticed after rewatching season 6a for the first time in 4 years (I only read fanfic after that):

stiles and lydia are actually kind of cute together (I'm still in denial about this tho, they're better off as friends)

I remember not liking Liam and Mason at first but this time I really really loved them and their dynamic

Liam is just a little excitable puppy

I miss Derek

Peter and Stiles remains a very underrated friendship and I would die for both of them

Derek is amazing and I miss him where is he

It's really a shame that Mason was only introduced after the hype train of season 3B ended because Mason is such an outgoing extrovert. He's intelligent and a sweetheart, capable of befriending anyone, including his reclusive bulldog for a best friend and even more reclusive himbo for a boyfriend. Mason is here for a good time, and getting possessed by an 18th century serial killer isn't about to stop him. This sunshine factory has my heart

I swear I need to do a rewatch, when did Sasha say something about Richonne?

When Sasha's still going insane from grief and PTSD in Alexandria, and Michonne and Rosita go out to find her in the woods. Sasha very pointedly tells Michonne that Michonne can't help her with her grief because it all worked out for Michonne, and questions why Michonne can't see that. And Michonne just gives her shocked pikachu face lol.

Interestingly, of all the various people playing Greek chorus to Michonne in 5b/6a, Sasha is the one who's most specifically referencing Richonne. (Outside of the Alexandrian guy with the post-apoc wifey story, but he's a plot device and doesn't KNOW that he's describing Michonne and Rick's situation. He's just the writers' mouthpiece outlining the relationship arc to the audience so they understand what's about to happen.)

Spencer could just be referring to Team Family as Michonne's "life back there." The implication exists that Abe and Deanna know what the likely result is of them pushing Michonne to claim a life for herself that she wants. Deanna especially clearly clocks Rick and Michonne as partners and so approaches them as such and pairs them up in her Plans. But deciding what you want and going and claiming a life is ultimately still open-ended as they present it to Michonne.

But Sasha can't be talking about anything except Michonne's relationship with Rick (and Carl and Judith) specifically. Because without the understanding that Michonne is, effectively, Mrs. Grimes, Michonne is in the exact same position as Sasha is. A member of the extended found family, but with no lover/partner and no immediate family of her own, because those people are all dead. The only difference would be that Michonne's grief just isn't as fresh, but she would still, in direct contrast to what Sasha says, be the exact person who could help her. And it's even more significant that Sasha directs this specifically and exclusively at Michonne even though Rosita, who has a whole acknowledged romantic relationship, is right there. Because Sasha not only sees that Michonne and Rick are a thing, but (accurately) recognizes what they have as something permanent and settled--a happy ending.

As a Sterek shipper, my heart aches knowing we could have had Derek and Stiles trying to escape the wild hunt together.

However, my Stydia side rejoices every time I rewatch season 6a.

Bottom line: watching s6a is like eating one of those sweet candies with a sour center.

what do you think eddie's fantasy is, the one he's keeping to himself (because it's better/safer than the reality)? even this convo with carla aside, it does feel like he's sitting on something this season? not repressing anything like in prev. seasons, but not willing to share with the class (the 118 or us lol) yet either

hmm honestly? i'm not sure!! i think eddie's a little hard to read this season so far because it's not clear as of yet where his storyline is going???? like, i can't lie, i watched the ep at 7am yesterday and haven't had a chance to rewatch so i might be wrong but from what i remember from the context of that conversation it doesn't quite fit with what happens with chris in the ep?? i mean it sort of does bc they call back to it in the scene outside the school but it also felt very "just make sure you're following your heart, not christopher's"-esque, y'know?

so yeah, i think eddie's very much back in observation mode like he was in s4 for now. but i'm very intrigued as to how he'll play into the story more in 6b!!!
