Off the back of Morrissey Official’s four sold out residency shows in Las Vegas, Morrissey announces fourteen brand new North American shows for October and November starting on Halloween, October 31st in Houston, Texas.
“There is currently something happening, a finesse and ferocity coming from Morrissey and the band that is unparalleled to anything I’ve seen in my tenure as Morrissey’s guitarist for over 21 years. It’s an infectious excitement coming from him directly manifesting through the band and into the audience leaving everyone in a euphoric state,” says Jesse Tobias. “As much as he and the band have historically been put against the ropes, doubted, disregarded and judged while others are given a free pass, Morrissey and the band will liberate and astound everyone with our forthcoming releases and shows ... that’s if you are open to music as a method for change and genuine excitement.”

Post-Hardcore Supergroup L.S. Dunes Debut New Single “Old Wounds”
Tumblr media
Words by wookubus Photo by Kevin Estrada August 24, 2023
Post-hardcore supergroup L.S. Dunes have dropped their second stand-alone single of the summer, “Old Wounds“. As with this past June’s “Benadryl Subreddit“, this song was produced by Alex Newport (The Mars Volta, Fudge Tunnel) during a recording session at Ranch De La Luna in Joshua Tree, CA.
Guitarist Frank Iero (also of My Chemical Romance, commented:
“‘Old Wounds‘ was a song that Travis brought to the band a while back. In getting ready for the upcoming desert session, Anthony came back around to it and ended up singing an incredible melody over it. After hearing Anthony‘s voice on that song, it was pretty obvious what needed to be played over those existing melodies. ‘Old Wounds‘ definitely feels like it represents the cold nights out in the desert for me and it might be one of my favorite songs we have done as a band.”
Vocalist Anthony Green (Circa Survive, etc.) added, “‘Old Wounds‘ was inspired by something I thought that I had lost that I actually needed to let go of.”
Guitarist Travis Stever (Coheed And Cambria) shared:
“The way everyone drifted into this song and brought their own energy was one of the most organic and natural approaches to songwriting I have ever been a part of. From the initial instrumental ideas to the vocals Anthony added, all the way to the production, it just flowed. Like we had a road map for where the song would go already. The feelings it derives from me, and the continued layers make it possibly my favorite song I have ever been a part of writing.”
The group will remain active on the road throughout the fall, having been booked for the below run of shows.

Against All Odds
Part 713
McCoy
He stared after Scotty as his fiancé hurried from their room. McCoy frowned. Father had told them so much. His fist curled again as he thought of Jocelyn being allowed to stay at the school. If their roles really had been reversed, if he had forced himself on her, wouldn’t he have been kicked out? His fingers twitched.
At least the lies would be exposed for the lies they were. Slowly he got up from his chair. Grabbing his things he left the room for his own afternoon classes. Scotty had pulled away so fast. McCoy’s thoughts couldn’t stop their worry. A couple classes then he could see his fiancé. Just a few hours and they could hide away in their room, work on their homework, together. The thought brought a faint smile to his face.
McCoy returned to the room after class more worried. Scotty hadn’t responded to half of the lights McCoy had tapped on his ring.
“Hey darlin’,” he called as he opened the door. “Oh.”
The room was empty, and McCoy turned to check the bathroom as he set his books on the desk. Also empty. Well, maybe Scotty had got caught up talking with someone, a teacher or one of their friends. McCoy tossed his jacket on the bed, and kicked his shoes off. Scotty would be up soon. McCoy settled in to start his homework.
A nervous, creepy feeling went up McCoy’s spine. He tapped his pen as he read, and he couldn’t seem to get comfortable. The minutes passed slowly and still Scotty didn’t enter the room. Finally he put the pen down and tapped his ring. Waited. Tapped again. Still nothing. McCoy frowned and swallowed nervously.
Scotty had looked surprised about having to give interviews. But he’d said he’d be ok, he’d do it. McCoy frowned again, but turned to put his shoes back on. Where was Scotty? Why wasn’t he answering McCoy’s lights?
A wave of worry was rising in McCoy’s chest. What if something had happened? What if someone else was still working for Khan? McCoy stood up abruptly as the thought went through his head.
No! Khan was locked away. He had no more influence.
Scotty was probably busy somewhere. Maybe he was waiting for McCoy in the lounge or the library or- or somewhere. They hadn’t had time to agree on somewhere before Scotty had left earlier.
McCoy grabbed his jacket and the door slammed behind him as he left the room.
He hurried to Scotty’s last class. He peeked in but it was empty. Ok. Lounge then. His chest was tightening, and he tried to slow his breathing. Panicking for no reason would get him nowhere.
His eyes searched the lounge, looking for a familiar flash of Scotty’s auburn hair. Jaylah waved as she saw him and he absently waved back. Scotty wasn’t in the lounge. McCoy stepped back out and leaned against the wall. Where else could his fiancé be? He tapped his ring again, but still got no reply.
Library. McCoy’s feet carried him there. A quick glance at the study tables showed no Scotty. McCoy darted into the shelves and made a quick search.
“Hey!”
McCoy jumped at the voice behind him.
“Hi Chris,” he said, turning to face her. “Have you seen Scotty?”
“Not recently,” she replied, beginning to frown.
“Oh, uh, I’m not sure where we were meeting,” he lied quickly. His own worry was enough; he didn’t want anyone else to worry too. “If you see him, tell him I’m looking?”
“Sure,” Christine said.
Outside the library McCoy paused. He took a deep breath, but his heart was still racing. Scotty was the one who had suggested maybe the Romulans would try again. Had they? Had they grabbed Scotty to make a try at McCoy again?
McCoy forced himself to breathe deep and slow his thoughts. Of course that couldn’t have happened. That was irrational. He wandered down the hall to the music room, but it was empty.
He glanced in the lounge again, then headed for their room. Maybe it was nothing. Maybe Scotty was waiting for him there now, wondering where McCoy had gone. His fingers trembled on the doorknob.
The room was still empty. McCoy crossed to his PADD. Pulled up Scotty’s and called. It rang and rang. Finally he sent a message telling his fiancé to call him.
Robbie!
McCoy shot back up.
Maybe Scotty was with his brother down the hall. He ran from the room, and was knocking at Robbie’s door before he knew it.
McCoy pushed in as Robbie opened the door.
“Oh!” he said in disappointment. “Scotty’s not here?”
Robbie was looking at him wide eyed.
“Scotty’s missing?”
McCoy heard the younger boy’s panic.
“I- I don’t know. I haven’t seen him since lunch when we talked with Father.”
“What did you talk about?”
McCoy filled him in briefly.
“I’m sure he’s somewhere just thinking it all through Leonard,” Robbie tried to reassure him. “Giving interviews after all the press has said about you two is a lot.”
McCoy left Robbie and returned to his room. He tapped his ring every few minutes, and couldn’t focus on his homework.
Finally it was dinner and he made his way downstairs, nerves on edge, chest tight with anxiety. He stood just outside the dining hall after seeing Scotty wasn’t inside.
His heart leapt at a flash of red coming up the hall.
“Scotty!” he almost yelled as he ran towards his fiancé. “Oh my- where have you been? I’ve been worried sick! You weren’t responding to my lights or my messages!” McCoy had his arms around the Scotsman by now.
“You’re freezing!” he said in surprise and stepped back. “Where were you? I was so scared something had happened!” He was running his hands through Scotty’s hair, trying to hold him close and watch him at the same time.
Part 714
Scotty
He had not paid attention to the time that passed. Only when the sun began to set did Scotty realize that he must have been sitting in his hiding place for hours.
Slowly he got to his feet, wiped the last tears from his face and made his way to the boarding school building... where he was already greeted and embraced stormily by Leonard.
"I..."
He had muted his PADD, but it was a mystery to him why he hadn't noticed the ring blinking.
"Have you been outside all this time?"
Scotty managed a slow nod as his gaze rested on his ring. Why wasn't it working? Absently, the Scotsman tapped it, but nothing happened.
"It... must be broken. I'll take care of it."
He felt Leonard's widened eyes on him, however, he didn't dare to look him in the face.
"I was afraid something had happened to you! I thought you had been kidnapped again or hurt or-"
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to cause ye any trouble."
But he honestly hadn't thought that Leonard would panic like that right away, either. After all, he had told him they would see each other at dinner.
"I just... just needed some time. Alone. Just for me."
Cautiously, Scotty lifted his gaze to look properly at his fiancé's face. He could see that Leonard seemed overwhelmed with his reaction. And confused.
"Why didn't you send me a message? And why haven't you responded to mine?"
Scotty shrugged.
"I was rattled and didn't think about it. And my PADD was muted."
Leonard was about to say something else, but fell silent as someone approached them.
"Mr. McCoy, Mr. Scott. Dinner will begin any moment now. Would you please take your seats?"
Archer. Even though he had let the two students get away with a lot lately, he was still the stern head of the boy's dorm.
"O-of course, Mr. Archer."
"Aye, sir."
A prompting look from Archer was enough and both boys went ahead and sat down at the table with their friends.
The clarifying conversation would have to follow after dinner.
Scotty heard their room's door close behind him and his heart sank into his pants at the thought of the upcoming conversation.
He really didn't know how to tell Leonard what was bothering him. It was just so incredibly hard for him.
"We need to talk."
Scotty swallowed hard before sighing and turning to look Leonard in the eye.
"Aye. We do."
Tears filled his eyes as he felt the large lump in his throat. How was he ever going to tell him the truth?
"Come on, let's sit down."
Carefully, Leonard grabbed Scotty's wrist and led him over to the bed. The moment the two sat, the prince instantly put an arm around his fiancé and pulled him closer.
"What's wrong?"
As Scotty closed his eyes and the first tears ran down his cheeks, he grew hot with shame. Slowly, he shook his head.
"I... I can't."
His voice broke and he swallowed again and again.
"What-"
"I cannae give interviews, Leonard."
The Scotsman felt his fiancé's body tense.
"B-but... you said-"
"I know what I said! I... I know I told yer father I was going to do it, but... I just can't! Do ye understand, Leonard?"
Through the veil of tears, he recognized Leonard's shocked expression. He was pale and opened his mouth to say something, but no words came out.
"I'm not made for this. I... I'm not made to talk in front of these people. Especially not alone."
Carefully, he placed a hand on Leonard's cheek and gently stroked his finger over the skin.
"And I'm so sorry. I'm so terribly sorry, mo ghràdh."
"What... what do you mean?"
Scotty was shaking all over.
"That I'm letting ye down. That I cannae manage to give an interview. Not alone."

NIKI RELEASES NEW ALBUM 'BUZZ' & SHARES TITLE TRACK MV
Rosa Gulliver of TINYGMUSIC | 9th August 2024
Tumblr media
Jakarta-born, LA-based singer-songwriter and producer NIKI firmly plants herself as one of the most dynamic artists of today with the release of her new album Buzz via 88rising, out now. Accompanying the release is the music video for title track “Buzz,” directed by Isaac Ravishankara. The video, a cheeky line-by-line depiction of the lyrics, encapsulates the rush of raw emotion and bittersweet nerves of a budding romance – glimpses of buzzing bees, a crackling guitar amp, and longing looks between two people, all signaling towards the start of something new. NIKI was initially inspired to name the record after the budding growth she observed in her garden every spring. Across thirteen tracks on the album, the singer encapsulates the feeling of being on the precipice of something undiscovered.
youtube
The album’s release joins previous singles; the love struck summer track, “Tsunami,” astrologically-inspired song “Blue Moon,” and flirty lead single “Too Much of a Good Thing.” NIKI plans to celebrate Buzz with a comprehensive world tour, produced by Live Nation, kicking off this fall. Tickets are available now HERE. See below for full routing.

What eventually became Buzz, the third studio album by singer-songwriter and globally-renowned star NIKI, started with an urgent quake from the innermost core of her being. What surfaced in its wake was a collection of warm, stirring folk-rock songs, which crackle and flare like a bonfire between close confidantes. “I went through an identity crisis,” says the 25-year-old of Buzz. “It took a lot of trial and error, and I just stumbled upon pieces of myself along the way. I named it Buzz because it feels like I'm on the precipice of something about to happen.”

For NIKI, things have been happening progressively since she was a high schooler in Jakarta, Indonesia. As a student at an international academy, she cut her teeth scribbling lovesick poems in English class and performed acoustic guitar covers of American pop songs on YouTube. With a six-string in hand, and her family and classmates cheering her on from the audience, Nicole Zefanya then staked her claim to global stardom as NIKI.

And claim it she has - with over three billion streams worldwide, sold out shows on multiple continents, massive sets at festivals across the globe, front row seats at Paris Fashion Week, four songs on a Marvel film’s soundtrack, and some of the most phenomenal, confessional songs being released in 2024, NIKI has already established a veteran’s resume before the age of 25.
Tumblr media
NIKI - Photo Credit: Annie Lai
On Buzz, her songwriting remains as intimate as ever. In her initial sketches of songs for Buzz, NIKI took cues from other lane-paving women with confessional, honest lyricism soundtracked by guitars.  “Joni Mitchell is my songwriting north star,” she says — and uncompromising feminist luminaries like Stevie Nicks, Carly Simon and Liz Phair. To match the wandering spirit of Buzz, NIKI cultivated her own elastic approach to guitar.

To further harness this creative and personal sea change, NIKI began enlisting producers who had worked with her favourite contemporary singer-songwriters. She tapped Tyler Chester, who’d captured tracks with Madison Cunningham and Sara Bareilles; she also recruited Ethan Gruska, who counts Fiona Apple and Phoebe Bridgers as collaborators.
Buzz reverberates with the hard-earned wisdom of a young woman who charges dauntlessly towards her dreams — but can still spare a laugh if she stumbles.
About NIKI
NIKI born Nicole Zefanya on January 24 1999, is an Indonesian singer-songwriter. She is currently based in the United States and signed with the record label 88rising. She released her first full-length studio album, Moonchild, in 2020. It was followed by Nicole (2022) and recently Buzz (2024). Her debut headlining concert tour, Nicole World Tour (2022–2023), visited over 40 cities across North America, Asia, Australia, and Europe.
NIKI has garnered global recognition for her songwriting and musicianship and is among the most popular female artists from Indonesia. In 2020, NIKI was listed among Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia.
About 88rising
88rising, stylised as 88⬆, is an American record label established in 2015, known as a multifaceted entity combining management, record label functions, video production, and marketing.
The label has risen to prominence as a music platform and record label, especially for Asian American artists, and has been dubbed "The Disney of Asian hip-hop." In 2019, 88rising earned the title of Label of the Year from Netease, a major music streaming service in China.
In 2018, 88rising launched its inaugural Head in the Clouds Festival in Los Angeles, which Billboard promptly recognized as "the Asian Festival You Need To Know."

LUCKI ANNOUNCES THE GEMINI TOUR – KICKING OFF 7/18
Tumblr media
Chicago underground icon turned national rap mainstay, LUCKI has just announced that his first US headlining tour, The Gemini Tour, will kick off on July 18th in Raleigh, NC. Produced by Live Nation, the 27-date tour will make stops in Miami, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Boston, Brooklyn, and more before wrapping up on September 7th in Atlanta, GA. The forthcoming tour will support his new album GEMIN! which is set for release on June 14th. The recently-released 2-pack of singles titled 2 Faced Pt. 2 (the Coupe-produced "Heavy On My Heart" and the Brent Rambo-produced "Courtesy Of") served as the first glimpse into LUCKI's forthcoming follow-up to 2023's s*x m*ney dr*gs, with the former serving as an upbeat outing buoyed by LUCKI's candid bars over a soulful instrumental while the latter is a hard-hitting victory lap draped in his distinct raspy flow. A longtime staple of Chicago’s underground scene, LUCKI’s hazy cloud rap confessionals saw the then-teenager grow a cult following in the Windy City and beyond before garnering mainstream recognition with his 2022 debut album FLAWLESS LIKE ME (which boasted appearances from Future and Babyface Ray) and hit track “New Drank”(200M+ Streams). The upcoming album marks LUCKI’s first full-length outing since the aforementioned s*x m*ney dr*gs and arrives on the heels of a high-profile appearance on “Broke phone” (7M+ Streams) from Veeze's 2023 album Ganger as well as a strong run of 2024 singles, including “PAIDNFULL”, “COLORFUL DRUGS”, and most recently “All Love”, where he linked with Lyrical Lemonade for a Cole Bennett-directed music video, as well as a guest outing on Southside’s latest track “Elegant”.
Serving as the debut offerings from LUCKI’s upcoming fourth full-length album GEMIN!, “Heavy On My Heart” and “Courtesy Of” are the initial foray into what will be a busy summer for the Chicago-grown artist. He’s currently slated to make appearances at both Rolling Loud and Lyrical Lemonade’s Summer Smash this summer before embarking on his first US headlining tour, The Gemini Tour throughout the summer. LUCKI also recently dropped two trailers for the forthcoming album – "2 FacedSlatt :(" & "2 FacedSlatt :)", showing off the two different sides of himself embracing his mafioso-like stature in the rap game. Both, along with the two new singles, are showing off the two different sides that make up LUCKI as an artist – someone who's grown from an underground Chicago mainstay into an international star with critical acclaim, using his hazy cloud rap confessionals to pave the way for the sound of modern Hip-Hop. With his GEMIN! era officially in motion, LUCKI is continuing to assert his legacy while proving just how far his movement has carried over the past decade.
