i feel like there's such a disparity between how big houston is (and how many big names are from here) versus how often houston is shown/mentioned in fiction compared to other big cities like nyc, la, chicago, miami, detroit, atlanta, new orleans, etc... like nothing is ever set in houston, because if you want something set in texas, you probably want some sprawling cattle ranch in the scenic rolling prairies further north/west and not an oil refinery in mosquito hell. every character who's from texas is from an idyllic small town where humans are outnumbered by poultry. the only time characters in fiction ever talk about houston is to tell us that they have a problem

I headcanon that while Dick and Jason may not have gotten along super well before Jason died, one thing that they bonded over was their love of Dolly Parton. Jason had heard of her, but wasn’t really familiar with most of her discography (he didn’t really have a lot of money to spend on music or time to listen to stuff while trying to survive on the streets). Dick plays him “A Gamble Either Way” and “Silver Dagger” and both hit a little close to home for Jason. he quickly got into the rest of her music.
after Jason comes back and is on better terms with the family, they do a family movie night (the first since Jason’s return) and Dick puts on 9 to 5. during the opening sequence, Dick looks over at Jason with a glint in his eye and starts singing along. Jason rolls his eyes but sings along perfectly, getting kinda into it, just like before he died and it was just the two of them. everyone else is surprised to see the two of them acting this way, except Alfred who is smiling fondly at them
