merlin’s secret being a visual thing. when he is around arthur or gwen or leon or morgana or [insert whatever character here] merlin seems pale and thin, almost like a ghost or an apparition. when the sun lands on him he reflects it like a corpse, he eyes seem dark and dull. he has this ethereal beauty to him, this otherworldly visage that leads many to believe he is of fae blood. he just doesn’t seem to be 100% human. but when he is ONLY with lancelot or gaius (cough or gwaine bc gwaine DEFINITELY knew) merlin is heartachingly human. merlin shines in the sunlight, colors are brighter and more vibrant around him, and his smiles are wide and his laughs are boisterous. he takes on color and leaves everyone wanting to know him. but when other join in or interact with the two, merlin shifts before their eyes so quickly and suddenly that they aren’t sure whether or not what they saw was a trick of the light. the idea still leaves them wanting more and wanting to see the merlin who is just so full of life but that merlin only appears for a small select group of people. merlin who has a guard so high that it has an effect of other’s perception of him.

Proship dni for my comfort thanks.
I feel like everyone portrays F/Os as these romantic, perfect all around lovers, and while that's all well and good! I prefer F/Os who are flawed, who don't always say the right things. Who can sometimes be petty or selfish. F/Os who have a habit of seeing conflict as a contest on who can talk the loudest, instead of a conversation. F/Os who run out of patience sometimes and have to go cool off mid-conversation, even if they're right. F/Os who struggle to communicate their emotions.
I find comfort in the idea of a relationship where mistakes like that are allowed and given room to breathe. A relationship where, no matter what the conflict is, the walls eventually come down. Maybe it takes hours, maybe days until you're both calm enough to work it out. Maybe it takes several conversations to solve it, but each end in Hey. I love you. I'll talk to you tomorrow.
You're not perfect, and neither is your F/O. That's okay. That can be beautiful, too. There's not a hug that's more comforting than the firm, tearful one after reaching mutual understanding. Knowing that you didn't mess it up too much, you didn't break things permanently. You couldn't if you tried. They missed you... and you've got some serious affection to catch up on.

the moralization of love as a motivation and survival as justification in fiction will always be baffling to me, tbh. characters do terrible things in the name of genuine love all the time. characters do terrible, necessary things to survive all the time. that doesn't mean any of those things aren't traumatic. that doesn't mean any of those things aren't a tragedy. if you lean into that more encompassing headspace, you will get a more fleshed out book worldview and more interesting, nuanced characters, i promise.

oh my god, they both ditched the port mafia two years ago and never realized the other did too. "why are you here??" "tf do you mean why i'm here, why are YOU here?? you're a port mafia CADRE??"
My idea is that everything is almost the same: the whole of Dark Era happened, Dazai left, the bomb in the car happened, the whole thing. But!
In the Dark Era light novel, when Dazai goes to Mori to request help for Oda, he mentions forming a "small team of executive-level ability users". Obviously, that idea never came to be, but Chuuya fits that description, so what if Dazai had followed through on that idea? Because of the timing, Oda still dies, that team never made it, but now Chuuya is involved in that mess.
The aftermath of Dark Era has grey areas, and by playing with that, Chuuya, now personally involved in these events, struggles to accept Mori's "sacrifices (of our own people) must be made for the greater good" philosophy, realizes the threat can come from the inside, and after a while, decides that he needs to leave and find a better way to protect (not save!) people.
While Dazai goes directly to Taneda, we know Chuuya has history with Ango (plus he's also involved in this) and that's who he goes to for help. Ango knows about Dazai's plans, mentions Chuuya to Taneda, and Taneda is delighted. He decides to do the same thing with Chuuya he's doing with Dazai. The PM just manipulated them into giving out a legal permit, two can play at that game.
And that's what leads us to a two-year-long buildup to Taneda's greatest punchline yet
Give them a minute it's been a while
(and as to what happens next, well that's still quite nebulous lol)

white people will be like “but the military is made up of a lot of minorities! theyre forces to bcuz they’re poor minorities and join the military to get an education! if you criticize the military you’re hating minorities!” babe as a poor minority yes I’ve been extremely targeted by recruitment, however literally all but a small handful of military people I’ve seen are white as fuck and come from a white ass military family who loves America and loves imperialism. and id rather die in debt than serve this fucking country.
