I'm watching this episode and the fact that we have this beautiful Thomas and Mitchell storyline, Buck figuring out his love life, the episode being called Buck actually and Tommy's favorite film being love actually

After the shooting, Buck comes over one night after Eddie is discharged and they’re playing video games with Chris . It’s something sports related. But after Chris goes to bed they switch to something else because he’d be mad if they went to the next level without him.

It’s a game with guns and explosions which never bothered Eddie before, even after the army. But the volumes on loud and the first time Buck hits a target they both drop their controllers.

Eddie is still almost like he’s barely breathing and he’s staring at the floor.

Buck is wide eyed , gasping for air, shaking.

Eddie looks at him and reaches out a hand.

Eddie speaks first. “I don’t remember much. But guess you do?”

Buck nods.

Eddie continues “I remember the sound. And I remember you.” Eddie’s breathing is heavier and he’s shaking his legs nervously.

Buck chokes back a sob. He still can’t speak. So he moves closer, wrapping his arms around Eddie’s back and pulling him back toward him .

They stay like this for a while in silence. Eddie’s hand on Buck’s knee and Buck’s in Eddie’s hair.

Buck speaks first “You asked if I was hurt. You were bleeding out and you asked if I was hurt.”

Eddie inhales sharply “It’s all I remember . You covered in blood and I’ve never been so scared in my life.”

“Wh-what..?” Bucks voice is barely a whisper.

Eddie tilts his head back to look up at Buck. “I meant what I said. You think you’re expendable and you’re not.”

Buck blinks back tears , trying hard not to have them fall in Eddie’s head.

It’s silent for a few minutes.

Eddie let’s out a shaky laugh “Guess we should get rid of this game?”

Buck laughs too and pulls them back further onto the couch , Eddie resting his head on Buck’s chest. In this moment, Eddie knows they’re going to be ok.

Hours later Eddie blinks awake. Buck is snoring softly , his hand still resting in Eddie’s hair.

Tomorrow I’m going to tell him I’m in love with him, he decides. And he’s no longer scared that he won’t be loved back.

we all saw the way they reacted to him dating he who shall not be named and it just makes sense they hate gay people

imagine young buck cutting his hair for the first time and wearing 'boy' clothes and his parents seeing him and only being reminded of what Daniel could have been. not only did buck fail to save Daniel in their eyes but now is becoming what Daniel could have been???? they would have shut that shit down instantly

No wonder buck would be so eager to leave when Maddie gave him the jeep because he wanted out of a transphobic and neglectful household. it would also back up the him not knowing he liked guys until well until his adult life, he's still discovering himself as a guy because he never got that chance as a teenager, maybe he confused attraction for gender envy (me fr fr)

I feel like he wouldn't necessarily hide it from most of the 118 (maybe cap and Athena because they are his parents and the trauma from the Buckley's has not been resolved) but just forget to mention it, like what if Maddie was showing off pictures of young buck and everyone getting confused by there being two girls in the photos (him and Maddie)

actually so pissed at ppl on twitter and tiktok for acting like 911 is suddenly queer because buck is now canonically bi. it's been queer since 2018 in season one episode one!!! look no farther than henrietta motherfucking wilson!!!! i need to see everyone putting more respect on her name because that is in short supply. not to mention micheal!!! he's been gay since the start and ALSO figured it out later in life but he's thriving!!! it's been there the entire time but noooo they need a white man to consider it representation because they don't care about poc queers. especially if the only recurring queer characters are black women and black men. get real.

illicit affairs

buddie | E | chapter 5 of 10 | 12k (of 35k and counting) | just a boy helping his boy bestie figure out gay sex, with a side of infidelity Eddie doesn’t believe in jinxes. But if he did, he would sure think he’d jinxed himself with what he said, and didn’t say, in his therapy session.

Chapter 5: so you leave no trace behind, like you don't even exist

“How are you, Eddie?” Frank asks.

They’re more than halfway through Eddie’s hour-long appointment. Frank has been patient with him, he always is. He’s been Eddie’s therapist for long enough to know when to let Eddie talk about something unrelated as a means of settling in, to know when it’s, in fact, an avoidance technique and he should be pushed.

Their appointments are less frequent than in the immediate aftermath of Eddie’s breakdown. Officially, they meet every two weeks. Oftentimes, with Eddie’s schedule, that’s just not possible. He and Frank occasionally do a phone call, if it’s hard to fit in a face-to-face appointment, but Frank prefers to meet in person. Eddie joked once it’s because over the phone Frank can’t see the fear in his patients’ eyes. Frank hadn’t laughed, but he’d smiled in a way that made Eddie think what he’d said was closer to the truth than is comfortable for said patients, Eddie included.

Eddie has spent the last forty minutes giving Frank an update on Chris’ dating life, his concerns and woes over it. And while that is legitimately something he should be allowed to talk about in therapy, it’s less pressing than a couple of months back when he had just found out about the two-timing — try five-timing — about the Shannon of it all. Now, he probably is using it to delay talking about himself, at least a little bit. And he’s come a long way that he can admit that to himself.

He shifts in his seat, pokes a hand back to prod at the cushion behind him. But he doesn’t need to. As much as everything else about therapy is uncomfortable, the seating in Frank’s office is anything but. And Eddie has been in here often enough to know this is the best cushion for him, works well for when he’s seated ramrod straight or when he’s slumped down. Across the room, Frank waits for Eddie to reply, ever patient.

“I’m good,” Eddie answers, truthfully. He is. Things are, generally, going well. As mentioned, Chris is doing better — he’s more secure and he currently seems to be talking to only one girl in a romantic capacity. Work is going as smoothly as it can for a first responder: Bobby back at the helm, Hen and Chim besties once more, Ravi freed from B-shift, so their core team is stable again. Eddie’s getting on well with his family, his dad consistently trying. He knows there are still sore spots there, and more so with his mom, but it’s the effort that matters to him. He summarizes as much to Frank, who knows all this already.

Frank nods, flips his pen over in his fingers. “And how are things with Marisol?”
