#ACT YOUR AGE EVE BROWN BY TALIA HIBBERT

still waiting for the brown sisters trilogy by talia hibbert to get a movie or (preferably) series adaptation. so many books being adapted into film and none are by popular Black authors, especially the romance books that are the easiest to adapt without the pressure of turning them into a big franchise. there is a severe lack of adult romcoms for Black women but a huge market for it, it's so frustrating

I did said I wouldn't write month for the rest of November, but I never said I wouldn't read smut for the rest of November. I couldn't helps but think of Nanami in these scenes. Talia Hibbert is one of my favorite author. Act Your Age, Eve Brown is one of my favorite romance novels.

Nanami would be like Jacob. Jacob would be my boyfriend in real life if he was real. Please excuse the hearts in my book. If I love a page in a book, I put a heart on the page. Kimmy made this wonderful art

Not me currently binge-reading my way through the Brown Sisters Trilogy whilst trying to get over a bad head-cold.

Every time there’s a plus-sized FMC in a romance novel, I give a good tip of my hypothetical hat to the author because damn, it’s sexy as hell.

Redford Morgan > Jacob Wayne
Chloe Sophia > Eve Antonia
Button > Sunshine
My two January books. The first and third book of the Brown sisters series by Talia Hibbert. I skipped the 2nd book but will come back to it in the future.
The above is my preference in terms of main character likability and relatability, maybe bc Chloe and Red were closer to my age and their issues were easier for me to understand.
Not gonna rate them bc I frankly don't know how to.

♡ Mid-year Book Freakout Tag ♡
No-one listens to my rants about the books i read in real life so I'll gladly subject to all of you on here to it >:)
i. the best book you've read so far: Assassin's Apprentice by Robin Hobb. (Read it once and re-read it again)
ii. the best sequel you've read so far: Act your age, Eve Brown by Talia Hibbert
iii. book that made you cry: The Seven Husbands Of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid. (But I'm an easy crier so there were many more)
iv. book that made you happy: Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman (re-read cuz i found the full cast audiobook)
v. biggest disappointment: BI: The Hidden Culture, History, and Science of Bisexuality by Julia Shaw. (It wasn't bad, i just expected it to be much more insightful and informative)
vi. biggest surprise: The Route Of Ice And Salt by José Luis Zárate. (Everyone should get their hands on this queer retelling of dracula from a mexican author)
vii. newest fictional crush: Jacob Wayne from Act Your Age, Eve Brown by Talia Hibbert. (Would burn down cities for him)
viii. favourite new author: Robin Hobb
ix. most anticipated new release of the second half of the year: Compound Fracture by Andrew Joseph White. (Already read an ARC and can't wait to re-read it the second it comes out)
x. books you need to read before the end of the year: The Body Keeps The Score by Bessel van der Kolk. Royal Assassin and Assassin's Quest by Robin Hobb. Titus Groan by Mervyn Peake. The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas.
Literally anyone who wants to join in can go ahead <3

2022 wrap-up, part 2
click here for part 1 | click here for part 3
aaaaaaand we're back for more of a look at this year. today's topic is reading, which is considerably less sparkling than writing for the reasons below.
top reads in 2022
woof I did so little reading in 2022. I really thought I'd do more once grad school was done, but by then I was doing amm and working on book things for my debut, so it just kinda. didn't happen. I read 14 new books, and 4 of them didn't happen until I was at my parents' house for the holidays.
so maybe it doesn't mean a ton since I read so little, but here are my top reads this year, in no particular order:
Silver in the Wood by Emily Tesh
as you know if you followed me when I actually read this book: obsessed. I wrote so many posts like OH MY GOD THIS BOOK until ofmd distracted me. I read this book twice in one month, in one sitting each time, and posted nonstop bullshit on twitter about it, too. super short, excellent forest vibes, folkloric, gay, what's not to love
Legends & Lattes by Travis Baldree
cozy fantasy, sapphic, not too long, exactly what I need from my fiction, and broke a reading slump that lasted most of my year thank god (no literally I read Silver in the Wood twice in march and then kinda cycled between books without finishing any of them until I read this in probably october)
The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches, Sangu Mandanna
new comfort read, ahoy! again a cozy fantasy, chock full of found family, so goddamn SOFT and again exactly what I need from my fiction, made me cry but mostly in a good way
The Mutantsitters Club by SJ Whitby
finally, a standalone in the Cute Mutants universe!! all the things you know & love about SJ's works, but softer, sweeter, and bite-sized, which is exactly what I need in my old age and also bc I'm a coward who hasn't even finished the original series yet bc I'm so scared of the many ways SJ might break my heart
the Brown Sisters trilogy by Talia Hibbert (reread)
obviously fantastic bc I reread at least one of them every year and this year went for all three. heartwarming & heartbreaking and digs into various mental health issues as well as neurodivergence (implicitly with Dani Brown, explicitly with Eve Brown) and chronic illness (Chloe Brown)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
upcoming books I'm looking forward to
The Love Match by Priyanka Taslim
YA contemporary, debut author
Bianca Torre Is Afraid of Everything by Justine Pucella Winans
YA mystery, debut author
Flowerheart by Catherine Bakewell
cottagecore fantasy romance
The Ashfire King by Chelsea Abdullah
epic fantasy, sequel to The Stardust Thief

The Brown Sisters Series! This was such a fun time! I absolutely loved this family! I love Talia Hibbert writing! She writes such good spicy scenes! And has such great representation!
My rating
Eve Brown - 4/5 stars
Dani Brown- 3/5 stars
Chloe Brown- 3/5 stars
Eve was my favorite, her story was the one I resonated with the most, failure, and trying to find your way! Eve and Jacob were so cute loved their dislike to friendship to love 😍 it was so addicting!
Dani was a close second, watching Dani try and deal with the emotional block with commitment and relationship and Zafir with his kindness and patience was wonderful!
Chloe maybe be my least favorite, but her and Reds story was still so fun to read, Red helping her find her place again with her chronic illness, and helping her accept herself was just beautiful and their relationship was just one you should strive for 😍😍
Check out the Brown Sisters Series you won’t be disappointed 😍🥰🥵

Eve Brown mixes up her words in conversation and just wants to be around people that will roll with it know what she means. Me too girl! Thank you Hibbert for writing this in! Thank you for committing to writing her as autistic! I felt so seen! <3

The Last Thorn is New York Times bestseller Talia Hibbert’s debut fantasy novel. Hibbert is best known for her romance writing, including Get a Life, Chloe Brown. But The Last Thorn is pitched as a spicy magical Beauty and the Beast retelling. It’s set in Albion, an alternative modern-day Britain, which is recovering from a turbulent civil war. And it’s home to a secret society of magic-users. We follow a hero after the war is won, and hope a flawed heroine can save them both from their darkness within. Featuring a diverse cast of characters, a cursed hero must form a soul bond with his enemy's exiled daughter – or lose himself entirely to the monster he hides inside.

Act Your Age, Eve Brown by Talia Hibbert
Rating: 5 stars Pages: 400 Tagged: couldnt-put-down, romance
I was looking forward to reading this ever since Eve first showed up in Chloe Brown, and it was not a let down! It was just so adorable, I loved the setting (a B&B with an upcoming gingerbread festival?! c'mon that's perfect), and Eve's journey of realising she has autism was realistically and beautifully written. An all around great romance!
