A while ago I made a playlist for Jan Faust and Alcor based on the incredible fic Judgment Day, I re-read it last night and finally decided to post this.

IF YOU HAVNT READ THIS PLEASE GO READ THIS AS SOON AS YOU HAVE THE CHANCE!!!!! IT IS SO WELL WRITTEN! I DONT WANT TO SPOIL ANYTHING. PLEASE READ IT ITS ONLY ONE CHAPTER, IT TAKES AN HOUR AT THE MOST (I don’t actually know please just read it before bed or something)

Anyway, I wouldn’t recommend listening to this before reading the story, in case I somehow spoil something.

WIP Wednesday (4/10) | Vampire Andrew AU (Part 106)

“Should I chase you around first next time?” Andrew asks. He’s clearly making a joke, but Kevin’s mind blue-screens at the thought. Because Andrew is fast. Faster than anyone or anything Kevin’s ever seen.

Of course, he’s only witnessed Andrew’s top speed a couple times, during night practices. Oh... What if Andrew were to chase him around next time? He only gets to imagine that scenario for a few seconds before Andrew is shaking his head.

“Of course you would have me chasing you around the court.” He sighs, seeming disappointed but not surprised.

“Where the fuck else would we be running?” Kevin snaps, not expecting an answer. He gets one though.

“In the woods. At night. It’s cloudy and the moon isn’t out. It’s so dark you can barely see where you’re going,” Andrew says immediately, like he’s thought about it before. And Kevin is entranced by that notion. “But I can see you, clear as day.”

“Your night vision is that good?”

“Yes.” Andrew answers, then he blinks. “Even if it wasn’t, I would be able to hear your heartbeat. It would be erratic, panicked. Like now, but… More.”

“I wouldn’t stand a chance,” Kevin whispers. And god, why is this turning him on? Is Andrew doing this on purpose? Kevin looks to him for an answer, but he doesn’t get one. Instead, Andrew pulls Kevin’s arm to his mouth and licks his lips.

How did you decide what species Kip and Twig were going to be? Did you play the game as a Charmander or a Mudkip, or did you decide some other way?

So, fun fact about Twig: she's a reinterpretation of my first ever PMD2 Hero OC, Kitsune! (I pronounced her name as “Kit-soon” as a child, you can burn me at the stake for my idiocy)

Kitsune was, as you might notice, a skitty and not a charmander. Her partner, Deu (pronounced “Day-oo”), however, was a mudkip. I originally thought about keeping them both their initial species, but Kitsune was so vastly different from her first iteration that it felt strange to keep her as a pink kitten, even if it killed me a little to change her. 

To come up with a new species, I decided to take the PMD2 personality quiz and answer as if I was Twig. My result was a brave female charmander. I was tempted to fudge my results a bit and go with a hardy female treecko, but I felt a bit guilty doing so— and besides, I never could understand how to draw a treecko’s tail and make it look nice. When I realized the fun contrasting parallel that could be drawn if Grovyle, local grass lizard, had his partner turn into a fire lizard, I knew I had to stick with the quiz result. 

(Twig’s tail flame was originally rendered to look like a maple leaf in autumn as an additional nod to her connection with Grovyle, though this was later changed in favor of more expressive fire shapes.) 

Kip, meanwhile, is a mudkip because Deu corrupted me into thinking a mudkip partner is the perfect partner in PMD2. His talk sprites made him look like a Muppet sometimes, which I adored, and I feel like their art really captured the enthusiastic-but-anxious partner personality. I love PMD2 mudkip partner so much and I can't see that poor baby being anything else. 

Golly, I rambled for a while there. TL;DR— I played the games as a skitty with a mudkip partner the first time. The partner stayed the same species, but I took the pmd2 personality quiz as if I was Twig and received a charmander assignment as a result.

... Okay, one last bonus piece of prehistoric Twig lore: her name is a reference to a stick Kitsune would beat people up with.

What was your first Hyperfixation?

My first hyperfixation that I properly remember is Five Nights at Freddys. (FNAF). I got into it when I was in year 4-5? Which was around 2016-2017. I was nine or ten? I made fan content like fanart.

But if we wish to go even FURTHER back, I'd say MLP? I wasn't into it as much as FNAF, but I remember when I was 6, my father owned a small business. I would sit on the floor and watch My Little Pony episodes on this tiny little DVD player.

MLP is actually how I found FNAF and Matpat. I watched a 'Five Nights at Pinkie's' playthrough, and ended up being slightly traumatised. And then continued consuming more and more content for it.

A few other fandoms I remember being in at around the same time include: Creepypasta, Minecraft (DanTDM, PopularMMOS, Little Kelly/Carly), Gravity Falls, Undertale, Animation Memes, Bendy and The Ink Machine, Doki Doki Literature Club and Cup Head. I uh... was considered a little strange back in primary school. But I look back on these memories with a fondness. Currently listening to my 2000's weird kid playlist!
