we interviewed like, literally the perfect candidate today (for another job I'm on the panel for, sadly not for my team) but also they work with Sam so I was like 'NO. I SHOULDN'T ask Sam 'hey is [name] sound?'

but because I have no boundaries instead I went into his room as soon as I got home and went 'THE INTERVIEWS WENT WELL. BY THE WAY WHO ARE THE PEOPLE WHO YOU LIKE AND HATE AT WORK.' which inevitably triggered a guessing game which. is just asking 'is [name] sound' with extra steps

Whilst I'm alarmed by the staff direction and manipulated reality vibes of AYS, it's a giant No to this as an example.

We should stop using Jimin recording the section stings from his phone as proof of scripted scenario. It is not.

He's been asked to record them and is receiving the direction then and there. He is literally just doing what he'd be doing in a studio for post, direction included, but as diagetic audio on location. "Should I make it sound sadder?" is perfectly reasonable for this situation.

I mean I have questions about why they would do that without a studio mic and soundproofing, that's insanity to me. I'm assuming to save time. But it's only shoddy production values, it's not an example of unnecessary scripting or director input. 👍

as a big fan of zero escape, ai: the somnium files and danganronpa, i love starting the hundred line and predicting what will be carried over from uchikoshi and kodaka’s previous titles and what will be completely different. i went into this game fully expecting that there will be uchikoshi standard timeline shenanigans and knowing that there are actually one hundred different endings makes me certain of that. main character almost gives me junpei vibes and i fully expect that either he or his childhood friend will have some major twist about them that hav been in front of us the whole time cause both uchikoshi and kodaka love doing that in the work ive seen. the cast and execution is very Danganronpa esc in nature of course, but is clearly deviating a bit in its own direction and even making fun/playing with the usual roles. i am so hyped to see how this game surprises me even with these prior experiences and expectations!!!!

I feel like the misuse of AI tools for profit or exploitative/ fucked up gain really devalues the genuine usefulness of the programs.

as much as i always wish to go to a HUMAN for help like this, i was low on time so i will admit i used CHATGPT to summarise some legalese.

I am firmly against alot of things people are trying to do with AI these days, its actually fucking ludicrous how far its being taken.

(sorry for how wordy this is I have a few things to say)

I also feel like the use of AI for giving any second opinion on academic knowledge cuts off an important connection people develop with (good) teachers and professors, who would respond to my email and give me this response (if i had time)

(basically i dont condone or enjoy the use of AI as a replacement for asking for help that could be provided from another person)

I dont use CHATGPT to write essays or schoolwork, regardless of how highly people praise it, i find its just genuinely shit and I wouldn't be doing a course if I'm not prepared to fail at it (personal philosophy).

But i jokingly mocked a friend i saw had a CHATGPT tab open recently (i wagged my finger and said "tsk tsk tsk look at you becoming a slave to our robot overlords"), and they told me that actually they use it to summarise painfully worded text and school documents and shit.

So today I took that idea, and used CHATGPT to help me summarise some legalese (as much as consulting tumblr was my first option i wasn't prepared to put my faith in you guys for something due so soon)

and this thang WORKED, very well, i get it now

I didnt use that text in my essay, but it HELPED yknow

and i just wish i didnt have as much guilt of using AI when I was in a painful spot, on a deadline, in need of help

Also just in case its ever not been clear I'm rlly against the misuse of AI to push people out of jobs and erase human creativity across various artforms like thats rlly rlly bad! Worse than becoming a luddite because of AI actually or any other ideological incongruities exploiting people and AI for corporate greed is the worst of it all.

like yeah dude it’s really cool that you used AI to complete an art piece that was purposefully left unfinished because the artist was dying of AIDS as the government ignored the mass loss of life and health. all you really did was show that technology can bring an art piece into the modern age but why? why do we need to do that? what does it say about us if we feel that a piece needs to be ‘completed’? how are we viewing completion?? can seeing an ai generated “completion” of unfinished have the same effect of seeing the parts haring left blank and the parts where the art drips into the blank? does it aid the narrative of it in any way? can AI understand the levels at which artists used their pieces about AIDS as a form of protest? of begging to be seen? how can it when an AI’s concept of ‘completing’ the piece is just guesswork of what the colours and shapes would look like to match what haring made which is nowhere near the same level of intention that came from him? you said you ‘completed’ the piece with ai because his story is so sad but does that mean we should try to rectify sadness by getting rid of the representation of it? should we not continue to sit in the sadness and discomfort that unfinished and other AIDS inspired art asks us to do because those feelings are only a fraction of what the people who died and lost felt, is that not the least we can do for them? and what good does any of this actually do when we can use technology to ‘complete’ a purposefully unfinished art piece about an artist’s untimely death from AIDS but we can never bring keith haring or any other person who died of AIDS back to life? where does haring, the person whose illness and death lives in those blanks, come into your self fulfilling ai generated completion of his work?
