Lilith Opposite Eris - Everything is fine. STOP SAYING EVERYTHING ISN'T FINE!

So I’ve been thinking a lot about Lilith - the point in the Moon's orbit that’s furthest from the Earth. Long story short for those who don’t know - Lilith is calculated in two ways which astrologers generally call Mean, and True. Despite these names there’s no true way to calculate it - both are valid. I tend to use Mean for Personal Reasons.

No, I can’t just leave it at that. I use Mean because I did some digging on the chart of the first person to use Lilith and looked at correlations between where he calculated it was, and where it actually was and the mean calculation was really intensely apt, and it just generally seems to work better for me. Your mileage may vary but sometimes in astrology you have to make a call on something or become obsessed with how vast and confusing the universe is.

Mean or True, Lilith is in Libra. One way to think about Lilith in Libra that I quite like is to think about obsessive peacekeeping. Being on your last nerve and still trying to be friendly when maybe you shouldn’t be. It’s in the nature of Lilith that emotions related to it are imbalanced and aggressive. It can lead to absolutely obsessive behaviour, or an outright rejection of that energy at all. Sometimes both. Someone who obsessively tries to keep the peace and keep things nice can flip and suddenly not be able to handle this at all.

Right now, Eris is pretty much exactly opposite Lilith, and this makes sense to me. The opposition reached 3 degrees on 8 January and will remain so until 5 March. Eris is a Dwarf planet that's almost exactly the size of Pluto. The difference is, Pluto has a big moon to go with it. So, Eris is, to my mind, the best candidate for something with Astrological meaning that's smaller than Pluto. This includes Chiron. It's just a shame we're still learning about it.

One important key phrase I use with it is that Eris is the immovable object. What happens when someone with immovable views negotiates with people who are obsessively keeping the peace? What happens when someone is obsessed with keeping the peace to the extent that they are immovably commited to believing that things are fine?

Eris is pretty damn near conjunct my sun and I noticed this aspect in my personal life first. But I think it maps well to world affairs. We have Democrats dancing in their meetings, we have Keir Starmer negotiating with Trump to keep Britain out of a trade war as though Trump is doing normal politics. The last Conjunction of Lilith and Eris was in Aries in August to September 2020, when Trump was formulating the ideas that would lead to him taking the pretty unprecedented act of trying to overturn an election result in the way he did. He announced his reelection in November 2022 during the square. The next square is April to June 2027 with Lilith in Capricorn so note your diaries.

On a personal level, this is a tough aspect. I'm looking at Venus because it rules Libra. My Venus is in Taurus so I'm resting and trying to find calm in comfort and pleasure. The Aspect will continue within 3 degrees till 5 March. All that time, Venus is in Aries. Ultimately this is making me think that action is a great form of self care for now. Jeongguk - fhdjasf our little edgelord! Ah his birthday was so self indulgent, fluffy, and a chance to see his softer side under all that iciness he usually displays. I think the longer time wears on, he'll let go of more of that frostiness and become more comfortable showing Y/N his tender side. fjdksa I forgot about the scene where he offered her a cigarette at Hoseok's meet-- such a twerp!! Kind of thinking of the dance marathon scene where Luke and Lorelai discuss kids which in retrospect seems like cruel foreshadowing that leads to nothing but...when you think about what they actually say to each other, neither of them seem that enthusiastic about the prospect. Luke doesn't seem thrilled about dealing with babies, but might reconsider...later. Maybe. Lorelai is not sure if she wants to do it again without motherhood being tied to so much of her formative experiences...but she might consider it again. Maybe. Someday. This actually isn't an obscure topic for either of them, as they are both raising teenagers, and that story doesn't end once Rory and Jess both leave home (Luke is always the person Jess fights with in his return appearances, the one he needs to make amends with, the person who lends him money, advises him on his love life, shows up for his special events...it's always Luke, not his actual mother). So the whole idea of parenthood being this special experience that will take place in this ideal far off future is never a reality. It's happening, it's always been happening, it will continue to happen.

So then we go back to the other big reference, Lorelai telling Luke "kids would be good" after they get engaged. She's not enthusiastic. When she meets the real estate agent who's handling the sake of the Twickham house and the agent mentions the house is great for tons of kids, Lorelai says "Oh, no. Not you, too." Doesn't sound like she was that in love with the prospect, even when it came time to discuss it. And of course (and this is fucking ridiculous, but anyway) she never even considers the subject in nine years of common law marriage with Luke (and he only seems to consider it briefly himself).

So....did they really want kids? Luke did by season 6, he was open about that. I think he had a real need to experience fatherhood without having an absent biological father as competition, something he never got with Rory or Jess. That's what April is for, whether people like it or not....and by the time she was introduced, ASP was close enough to the endgame to know she wanted to give Luke this because she was never going to let him and Lorelai have a baby (and if it helps destroy their relationship so she can finally live out her Christopher and Lorelai dream ship for a while, even better!) I mean, it would have been great if these two could get their shit together, blend their families, and finally have that traditional family experience, but...that's not really their story, has never been their story, and I don't think that's a tragedy. I don't think Lorelai ever wanted it, and Luke didn't want it that badly once he had April (and realized that Jess had turned out so well and hey, maybe he didn't screw up that badly the first time after all).

And even if it had happened...if it was shown to the fandom in any kind of semi-realistic detail, they wouldn't have been able to handle it. There's always this fantasy that Lorelai ends up being this perfect stepmother, but fans couldn't handle the way that was portrayed in AYITL when Luke refuses to concede to her suggestion that he force April to get a job before he spends any more money on her. They couldn't accept that Lorelai could be informed on April's life, and spend time with her, and make suggestions, but that she was not the parent and she doesn't get to make decisions for her. It was always about Luke being an evil ogre who is keeping Lorelai apart from April, that he's the real reason they aren't closer, that he is irredeemably evil for not giving Lorelai what she wants and letting her control the entire situation. So unless it ends up with Lorelai being this fantasy figure who gets to win every argument...no, this fandom could not have handled an actual blended family situation.

So, yeah, maybe it was in their best interest not to have kids.

(BTW, Luke was absolutely correct in that situation...Rory had moved her ass home, she had no real job or plans for her life until Jess showed up and gave her a push in the right direction, and Lorelai was doing zilch to actually encourage her to do something productive. So Lorelai's a hypocrite by suggesting that April is a mooch and should get a job, and her offering money to Luke for something she doesn't support is not a good idea. But yeah....this is a pretty common sort of stepparent argument about adult children).

Fantasy Deep Dive: Roles

What role does your muse see themself in?

Riona sees herself as the caregiver. This is both because of the expectations put upon her by her parents and because of who she is naturally. In both her main verse as a faerie and in her human AUs, Riona’s parents end up putting an unreasonable amount of pressure on Riona to be the perfect daughter, and as the older sibling, it is her responsibility to care for Soll. However, Riona also put that responsibility on herself, because from the moment Soll was born, she did not want anyone else to take care of him. The only thing that she was willing to let anyone else handle for her was the breastfeeding, because she could not physically do it herself. This caregiver role was something that she wanted, and she desperately clung to it, and after Soll died, it was the only thing that she knew how to do. If she could be a caretaker, then she could prove her value to other people. So she clung to that role, she clung to that label, and she tries so hard to make sure to take care of everyone around her, and she does so at the detriment to herself. But her parents had proved to her that their love was conditional, so she needs to prove to others that she deserves their love. And if that means putting them first, then that is what she will do.

How does your muse feel about that role?

Riona defines herself by this role way more than necessary. She needs to do some serious soul searching and figure out how to take care of herself. She definitely becomes a martyr in a lot of ways for her caregiving role, and it is not something that she does on purpose, but because she is filled with so much guilt and self-loathing over Soll’s death, she believes that she deserves to suffer. She would be absolutely horrified if anyone else ever called her a martyr, but she has become a caregiver at the detriment to herself and has made a life out of self-neglect and suffering as penance.

However, this also leads to some resentment, deep down. She may not even consciously realize it. But she is pissed at her parents for letting her assume this role in a way that no child ever should have assumed the role, and she hates them for putting that kind of responsibility on her shoulders. With therapy, Riona knows that she would not carry the kind of guilt she has over Soll’s death if it weren’t for this weight on her shoulders that he was her responsibility. She was a child herself, and it never should have been her responsibility. In her faerie verses, the age gap is wider; it is twelve years apart versus the four years of the human verses. Riona has her patterns and takes care of Soll during the days when her parents are doing their own duties amongst the community. In human AUs, it is a form of parentification at its finest. She was the eldest daughter of Irish Catholic immigrants; it was expected of her to take care of the house and family. She may have accepted it and doted on Soll, but that does not change that it was not her responsibility from the start.

What role(s) do other people believe they fall into, and how do they feel about it?

Well, the entire point of the novel trilogy is that Riona is the hero because she chooses to be the hero. She will never quite see herself as the hero, but her friends and her mentor, Morrigan, do. While she will never like or enjoy the hero label, Book 2 is especially about her journey of accepting this label. She is absolutely a reluctant hero, because she feels like she is just doing the right thing, the necessary thing. She does it for the sake of everyone else, because she is a caretaker, not a hero.

Are there roles they aspire to but fall short of?

I think Riona mostly aspires to be a caretaker, and she falls short of being a caretaker in a healthy way. I think that with time and therapy and self-discovery, she absolutely can be a healthy caretaker, but that has yet to happen within her current character development.

I think that the one she really aspires to be is an explorer. And in many ways, she succeeds in this, though she would never define herself as an explorer. But I think it fuels her, especially after the events of the novel trilogy or after her closure with Soll. She needs to rediscover herself and who she is and what that means, and she needs to explore. It is why she becomes an anthropologist in human AUs, why she is a writer, and it plays a huge role in her worldview post novels.

Alleged fake Police memo ordering withdrawal of Police from VIPs stirr contoversies

There is controversy over an alleged “fake memo”, currently circulating social media with the order for the withdrawal of Mobile Police personnel from very important personalities (VIPs) with, a Mobile Squadron Commander, CP Mike Ademola (rtd) saying there is no such order. CP Ademola, who is conversant with signals and memos having led the Mobile police before retirement, while reacting to the memo, said it didn’t come from the police authority and therefore, it is fake. He explained that the wording of the memo shows that it is fake as the police signal does not appear without proper identification and directions. “From the memo, you would notice that some persons were not properly identified and this is a sign of fake news”, he said. He also commended the acting IGP, Olukayode Egbetokun for having the courage to initiate policies that would reform the Nigeria Mobile Police and bring back the lost glory. He said, with an initiative like this, the IGP has set the police ready for a better future. When contacted for clarification of the purported memo, Force PRO, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said the Force management team is currently having their meetings now where critical decisions will be taken. So far, checks have shown that no mobile squadron commander has withdrawn their personnel from the VIPs mentioned in the memo as at Monday. Part of the memo had named important personalities like former secretary to the government of the federation, Boss Mustapha, former governor of Ogun State, Gbenga Daniel, former Zamfara State governor, Matawalle among others as people whose police were withdrawn. Recall that when the acting inspector-general of police, IGP Olukayode Egbetokun resumed duty as the police boss, he had stated that he would effect the withdrawal of Police Mobile Force personnel from VIP escort/guard duties. This was even as he established the Special Intervention Squad which according to him would have 40,000 highly trained police officers including selected officers from the Police Mobile Force. He had explained that this action was to allow the mobile police take back its place in the internal security architecture of the country and reclaim its lost glory. He had said, “In a bid to kick-start the process of regaining our pride of place in the internal security architecture of our dear country first and foremost, modalities for the creation of a new special squad – the Special Intervention Squad have been initiated. “This special squad shall consist of 40,000 specially trained elite officers. The Squad will be formed by selecting officers from the pool of existing Police Mobile Force personnel and all tactical units in the country. “These officers will undergo an intensive pre-deployment training to make them combat-ready for frontline operational duties in all the states of the Federation, with a particular focus on areas plagued with unrest and turmoil. “By pooling together the expertise and experience of our PMF personnel and other tactical units, we can establish a formidable force that is well-equipped to handle the evolving challenges we face.” The IGP also said the establishment of the squad would help the police to promptly respond to security threats, noting that 1000 personnel would be deployed to every state.
