Was looking through old Elite Dangerous screenshots and found these ones from my trip to Sagittarius A*. These particular shots use the lensing from a black hole to distort a nearby planetary nebula. It's honestly my favorite system I've ever found!

Started watching classic who and so far I love it dearly
I can see that the Susan hype was there for a reason
Ian is so obsessed with Barbara it's embarrassing for him
One and Ian have the same dynamic as Nine and Mickey and it's bringing me feels
One is a fucking maniac: kidnaps Susan's teachers, probably considered murdering them, gets into a physical fight with his 15 y/o granddaughter on the first ep, doesn't know how to work the TARDIS, manipulates everyone by lying just cause no one wanted to indulge his fucked up curiosity after he nearly got them killed by cavemen... He's like pretty much the villain in the first ep and at best the main anti-hero in the following ones (he doesn't want to save anyone cause "it's not their business", tried to leave Barbara stranded on an alien planet when it's HIS fault she got lost in the first place and everyone got radiation poisoning because of his whimsy). Oh, and he laughs like an absolute cartoon villain when his shenanigans start to work. I'm here for it
Susan is pretty fucking weird herself. Like, asp they're talking about the daleks and Barbara is like "maybe they're not just machines, maybe there's someone in there". And Susan just. Laughed like a maniac and everyone looked at her weird and she was like oh you were being serious. yikes ok sorry. Wrong moment I guess.

THE ONE WHERE HE SAID HER NAME
For people who aren’t aware, Chris was just interviewed on Access Hollywood where he is promoting his dog food brand and talking about his wife’s connection and relationship with “their” beloved dog. Go Portugal!
youtube
First remark, she will no longer be known as Voldemort as it’s the first time since the start of this shitshow that he has ever said her name. Good for her and shame on him.
Second remark, his background has been blurred for more… privacy (sarcastic coughs).
Apart from those 2 new elements, it’s pretty much the same old stuff. Let’s dig.
THE TIMING OF THE INTERVIEW
This interview takes place at a time where Chris is gaining a lot of momentum. He just made a very talked about cameo in a huge Marvel hit. As a positive sign, he is gaining followers again, which at least looks organic whether they are real or bots or a combination of both. He is working hard, doing stunts with ASP, in order to look deserving of the Spirit of Service award he is going to receive on September 11th which, by the way, coincides with the one-year anniversary of his wedding.
This interview is about promoting his dog food brand and their partnership with a giant retail store. Because obviously why not ride this wave of publicity, make more bucks and get more attention? Especially after that planned story on his Insta about his Deadpool cameo and the variety article that suspiciously followed so quickly after it.
Not coincidentally, this date was supposed to be the one when a BUA was to be announced, as Team PR blogs were insisting. (By the way, that fact alone should enrage Chris’ fans as his team clearly looks in cahoots with them, as many suspected.)
TEAM PR AND THEIR LASTEST DECEPTION
Team PR blogs have been claiming the contract expired on July 26th, that the BUA was imminent and was to happen before the end of July.
They were clearly lying like they have been lying since the start of this shitshow. Particularly about the ending which was supposed to happen after the Ghosted premiere, after the Peter Holmes interview, after he came back to Insta, after theForbes article, after the papwalk in December… …during the shooting of the Materialists…
The fact people actually gave credence to their most recent claims is not a testament to their “cunning” manipulation techniques or people’s gullibility but to how much this fandom wants this shitshow to be over.
As you noticed, one key and vicious member of Team PR was explaining yesterday that Chris’ wearing the ring meant nothing and “was insignificant”. How hypocritical, isn’t it?  When Team PR, Team Real & Team Middle have all been talking & trolling about the precious for months.
Notice how those Team PR blogs are now deflecting once more with silly diversions such as dog behavior or how allegedly his family will suffer for it (oh please), or play the victim card as they are allegedly receiving threats and hate messages. All of this is meant to distract from the fact that they lied once more. And they did it for several reasons, the most important being...
ANOTHER CLASSIC BAIT & SWITCH FOR ADDED SHOCK VALUE
We have seen this movie before and repeatedly, haven’t we? The pattern is so similar to what we have witnessed in February with the ski trip.
And even recently, with all the time she was seen spending in her home country without him (the concert, the birthday), her furnishing an apartment in Portugal, his wearing and hiding the ring every chance he got, and more importantly the stunt at the walk of fame of Kevin Feige where she was seen to be a no show so ostentatiously… Look at how staged that was, and you will realize what the purpose for it was.
So, what they did was to try to breadcrumb a separation once again, to build up the fans’ anticipation before pulling the rug out from under them in order to add shock value.
Well done! But FYI the aftereffect might prove very counterproductive for Chris, as his complicity looks more and more obvious and his playing the victim card looks more and more infuriating.
CHRIS’ COMPLICITY
Chris claimed in his SMA interview how much he hates any forms of manipulation. He should have added that he was fine with it as long as he was the one doing the manipulating.  Indeed, his complicity is absolutely undeniable.
I have written a post about this topic, if you want to check it out.
Let’s add to this his recent shenanigans and more precisely what he did with the precious ring. I won’t go too far back and will just use 2 recent examples.
Do people remember the Jinx commercial where he uses his pinkie to “hide” the ring as he gives food to Dodger? What he is actually doing here is to draw more attention to the ring and promote his relationship with Alba, he also looks ashamed to gain sympathy from his fans and manages to feed the discourse (real or not?) in the process.
Isn’t it exactly what he did again for that walk of fame ceremony where he allegedly arrived without the ring (like he would forget to wear it) and then get photographed with it from every angle while his wife was a no-show?
Now let’s move on to the most interesting aspects of it all: the brand deal.
THE BRAND DEALS CONNECTED TO THIS SHITWHOW
First observation. You can see the similarity to the interview he did on The View sponsored by Jinx when he came back to Insta just in time for the Black Friday.
I am not privy to any private information and haven’t seen the contracts but it’s safe to assume that certain businesses of his are directly connected to this shitshow for the simple reason that they have been getting an incommensurable amount of “free” publicity from many prestigious publications & media outlets.
And by the way, it started before Alba even entered the scene. We can safely deduce Chris had already cashed in on those checks (“free” publicity) and this shitshow was also used as a payment for it.
Because clearly, dog food and a civil engagement platform are not the “sexiest” businesses. And, the amount of media coverage those companies have been getting seems totally disproportionate compared to Chris’ status and the marketability of those businesses.
Compare this to the media coverage his fellow Avengers have been getting, like Jeremy Renner’s cigar and alcohol businesses, or Scarlett’s The Outset.
Obviously, Chris gets to promote his businesses Jinx or ASP when he talks or breadcrumbs his relationship to Alba because this is far more selling and salacious for the media and the public.
Sidenote, now observe the media coverage his commercial for a much “sexier” brand like Audi got, a commercial where he did not have to wear the ring by the way.
So if you guys are enraged by this shitshow and how it is conducted, not looking at this train wreck won’t change a thing or the timeline but what might have an impact is to boycott the protagonists and the brands that are playing and manipulating you.
THE ENDING OF THE SHITSHOW
Clearly this shitshow is long-term and won’t be ending anytime soon. And the reason for that is simple. The optics of this relationship aren’t great as he looks like her old uncle and the power imbalance is all over the place. He HAS to stay married to her for a while to give value to this relationship.
Because clearly, he looks like another Hollywood cliché going through a midlife crisis. The only thing that could salvage a part of his public persona is to make this marriage last so that he doesn’t look like a “one-dollar Leo but without the talent”.
In fact, it will likely last for much longer and might even escalate (DM is breadcrumbing baby rumors) because one thing appears crystal clear at this point: this marriage seems to be much more than a rebrand and a publicity stunt.
WHAT MIGHT BE COMING NEXT?
There is a rumor that Chris might be selling his LA home after he just sold his Concord house. Not so long ago it was the one in Vermont.
Like some Team PR blogs rightfully said, it was purposefully leaked to the fandom after the house had already been sold. It was a great and very smart PR move. Suddenly, Chris seemed like he was at a crossroads, like it was a new start where anything is possible.
But as you guys noticed, the background was purposefully blurry for this interview, which gives the illusion he is private when he is really not, also puts emphasis on the crazy fan narrative (Chris has to hide to protect his family from his crazy fans) and more importantly helps to present any fabricated life he wants to the general public. It is a white canvas so to speak.

I recently saw someone share this old ASP interview snippet where she talks about using music in TV and how she tries to make her song choices really say something supplementary or complimentary about what's going on on the screen, so on this current rewatch of mine, I've been trying to pay extra attention to the song choices and why they were made...
I knew this song was in GG - it's on my big beautiful comforting GG spotify playlist haha - but this is the first time I really noticed where it is. They play it in the background the first time Lane is perusing Sophie's music store - before she or we, the viewers, know the drums are her destiny.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Oh, I sincerely miss those heavy metal bands I used to go see on the landing in the summer She fell in love with the drummer She fell in love with the drummer She fell in love
Shiny, shiny pants and bleached blond hair A double kick drum by the river in the summer She fell in love with the drummer Another then another She fell in love
I miss the innocence I've known Playing KISS covers, beautiful and stoned
Unlock my body and move myself to dance Moving warm liquid, flowing blowing glass Classical music blasting masks the ringing in my ears"
Tumblr media
I almost teared up because there's something so sweet about kind of reclaiming what feels on its surface like your standard love song where a man is reminiscing about a young, innocent girl falling in love with a musician and framing it to be about that young girl falling in love with HERSELF as the musician and the instrument itself... I imagine grown-up Lane hearing this song come on shuffle in her car and feeling nostalgic and wistful for her early band days and falling in love with music and her big dreams. idk I just felt very charmed by that and wanted to share! :')

Do all your rwby kids gonna have an allusion like your emercury daughter?
yes! art history and literature are two of my main interests, so the allusions are the main reason I’m making them at all. the characters might have more than one allusion too, based on their role in the story. (Naja, for example, is based on the Asp from Shakespeare’s Antony and Cleopatra, but she’s also inspired by the goddess Isis)
My theme for my fankids is classic literature and theatre. i haven’t come up with all of them yet, but i have at least four down

Guest Post: Comparing two different R170 SLKs
Tumblr media
Editors Note: This is part four in a series by Nick Gruzevskis about owning a Modern Mercedes convertible – in this case his R170 SLK230.   The previous entries can be found here.    Two cars of the same chassis/model often drive differently after 20-30 years, depending on mileage, maintenance & number of owners. I got the opportunity this weekend to drive a 2003 SLK230 Special Anniversary Edition, enabling a comparison with my 1998 SLK230. To be completely transparent, these cars are quite different, the Special Anniversary Edition SLK230 has a touch over 70,000 Kilometres on odometer and is completely original, while mine has 185,000 Kilometres, has engine mods and has a set of R171 17” staggered wheels.
Tumblr media
I met Franco at the MBCV Clubhouse, pulling up next to his car. Franco is a newish MBCV member and was keen to meet up with other R170 owners. Since purchasing my R170 I haven’t met anyone else that owns one, apart from a Jensen Club member who lives in South Australia. This started me thinking, how many R170s were sold in Australia, it was over 2500, with the SLK230 accounting for over 80%.
Tumblr media
Franco was very knowledgeable about his M111 engine, as he quickly told me he had the smaller clutchless M45 supercharger and I had the larger M62, with the modified ASP pulley kit. Franco went onto to say, the M62 is more tuneable, as its larger and moves more air, but spins slower and engages at 2700rpm. The M45 moves less air but is always engaged. The facelifted R170 has the M111.984, it has higher compression, but also MAF sensor has been relocated close to throttle body, to provide smoother throttle response. I won’t bore you with any other differences, but they are listed in this Benz World thread. The SLK230 Special Anniversary Edition, had chrome strips around the window edges, chrome bar above rear number plate, a lovely Nappa leather interior, aluminium looking upper and lower dash console, grey speed and engine RPM gauges, unique 16” alloy wheels.
Tumblr media
I offered Franco I drive of my SLK, but he declined, so I took him for a drive in mine. My SLK230 has a Jekyll and Hyde personality. It can be driven normally, and it’s quite & refined, but when you get over 2500rpm, you can hear the whine of the supercharger and becomes a different beast.
Tumblr media
Moving to Franco’s car, his steering felt a bit lighter, and the body felt tighter, probably a combination of the additional mileage and upgraded 17” wheels on my car. His car felt more responsive down low and slightly more refined, but when stabbing the accelerator, didn’t have the outright acceleration as mine. Would be interesting to compare an original pre-facelift SLK230 to Franco’s facelifted car.
Tumblr media
It was a fantastic way to spend Saturday morning at the MBCV Clubhouse. I want to thank Franco for kindly offering me a drive of his stunning Special Anniversary Edition SLK230. Fear, Formula One and family values; Interview
The Times, 24 Nov 2003 (by Penny Wark)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Should you let your child pursue his dreams, whatever the risks? Lewis Hamilton, the rising star of motor racing, has been driving since the age of seven. Penny Wark talks to his family
THERE IS something very touching about the Hamilton family. It is not just their pride in Lewis, the phenomenally talented 18-year-old racing driver, though there is plenty of that. It is that no matter which member of the family is talking about his extraordinary and precocious success, the word they most often use is "we".
"When you start go-kart racing you have to do six novice races and we won them all," says Lewis. "We made a really good team."
He was seven. His father Anthony, then an IT manager, had spotted the quality of his son's hand-eye co-ordination when he had regularly won races against experienced adult remote-control car enthusiasts, and introduced him to go karts which he thought might be more fun. Lewis responded by becoming unbeatable on the go-kart track and at ten he won his first British championship. "I thought, he's got something extra," says Anthony. Did Lewis realise this? "Not really, I was just playing," he says.
Lewis is no longer playing. Today he is the youngest Formula Renault UK champion and has just raced in the Korean F3 Super Prix. Since he was 13 he has been sponsored by McLaren and Mercedes Benz; such commitment to a young driver is unprecedented and he is expected to progress to the Formula One circuit in two or three years' time. No one in the sport, it seems, doubts his ability, his maturity or the support of his family.
That, however, is not to suggest that the Hamiltons have had it easy. In particular, Anthony explains, they have had to teach Lewis to use his gift with responsibility. It is the classic parents' dilemma: letting your child grow up and take the risks that will allow him to follow his dreams. And when the dream involves speeding around a racetrack, the pressure is magnified. Has Anthony ever had any doubts?
"Never about Lewis's ability," he replies. "It's difficult to explain. When you put Lewis in a go-kart his personality changed. He didn't become a monster, it was more like giving a kid a gun and saying, 'What are you going to do with that? Are you going to be sensible or are you going to be silly or immature with it?' He knows what to do with it. As an eight-year-old he was getting up to 60mph. When he won the world cup in 2000 he was getting up to 90mph. Now he's racing at 150-160mph. Put him in a car and he doesn't have to think about it, he does what comes naturally. He's an 18-year-old kid but when he gets on the racetrack he's not any age, he's just a consummate professional."
Quietly Lewis says that he is aware of the potential consequences: "It just doesn't have an effect on me." He is a calm and understated young man who exhibits none of the usual teenage neuroses. His handshake has the presence of every high achiever but he does not dominate the conversation in the family's home in Hertfordshire. It is Anthony who tells their story, and he does so not with bravado but with realism and concern for his family.
"Because it was dangerous I was always very keen to make sure he did it right, not to abuse his ability, to think about it," he says. "We made sure that when Lewis went to the racetrack he never had any problems or issues. If he's going to sit in a car and race he's got to do it with a clear mind. The danger of crashing was always key and still is, probably the most frightening thing that makes your heart pump at ten times its normal speed. I've not enjoyed watching most of Lewis's racing apart from when he's clear out in front and there's nobody near him to hurt him. This is why he has a yellow helmet, we could see it a mile away and know he was safe. There have probably been two or three accidents in Lewis's career that could have been disastrous for him and you consider the danger aspects, and everything else outweighs them. He's doing what he loves to do. You get a lot of emotions that contradict each other."
I ask about the accident Lewis had in September, at Brands Hatch, which led to an overnight stay in hospital. Again Lewis has a measured response. "You start to mature and to realise certain things," he says. "It shook me up and I had to step back. The danger's there. I'm aware of it. But it won't knock me. Next time I go out I always improve. It's turning a negative into a positive. My dad thinks it's not worth risking my life, I think it's not worth damaging the car."
Anthony is more graphic. "Self-doubt rarely happens to you," he says to Lewis.
Then he says: "He couldn't move his legs. It took 50 minutes to get him out of the car. Straight off to hospital. X-rays. Feeling eventually comes back into his legs. Then you think it's not worth it. I can replay the accident in my mind in slow motion. Can see him coming out of the tunnel in the wrong place at the wrong time. They're going to take him out. Straight into a wall at over 100mph. It isn't fun any more."
So the contradiction is insoluble: Lewis loves the sport that has become his job, and it carries risk. This is far from being the only difficulty that the Hamiltons have faced as they have nurtured Lewis's talent, but by operating as a tight family unit they have tackled obstacles as they have arisen.
The initial problem was money. Anthony, who had grown up in West London in what he calls a typically tough West Indian family, and his wife, Linda, were earning Pounds 1,300 a month and living in a flat steeped in negative equity when they spent Pounds 1,000 on Lewis's first second-hand go-kart, which Anthony duly stripped, painted and polished. Unlike the families of more affluent drivers, they had no motor home for weekend races, just a rusty Vauxhall Cavalier and a trailer.
It is significant that Lewis has still never raced against another black driver.
"I don't think anyone came from the same background as us. Most people had wealthy parents," Lewis says.
His success rapidly attracted donated engines and tyres, but even with this help the family spent money they didn't have. "We are not risk-takers," says Anthony.
"But as things became more serious we decided that if we wanted to continue with this we would have to change our lives. My younger son Nicolas's life and my life and Linda's life have changed utterly because of Lewis's ability. What he does is so strong that we all have to do it or not do it at all. There's a fine line between being a pushy parent and a supportive parent - or are you a lunatic? We consider that we do these things for the right reasons."
So when Anthony found taking time off work to attend races increasingly difficult, he and Linda took redundancy, not knowing how they would survive but feeling certain that they wanted to spend every weekend racing and testing with Lewis.
Contract work enabled Anthony to earn more and to work flexibly, and sponsorship removed the financial pressure. Eventually he set up his own computer company, which now employs 25 people. This has given him and Linda time to support Lewis, with Nicolas, 11, at home and at races.
But the commitment is intense. Although Lewis is now managed by Ron Dennis, of McLaren, Anthony manages his son on a daily basis, which requires him to shift continually between the emotional role of father and the detached role of manager.
"When I say 'I don't want you to go out tonight' I'm not being fatherly, I'm being a manager who knows Lewis can't go partying because he has a regime that he has to follow," Anthony says. "You go clubbing, get into a fight, opportunity's gone. You drive too fast on the road, crash, opportunity's gone. It's difficult to be manager and dad at the same time because for Lewis it appears that I'm restricting his movements when in fact I'm protecting his career.
"If you want to race you've got to sacrifice other things to make it work. At 18 I was gallivanting, going out with girls. Lewis gets asked where he's going tonight, who with and when he'll be back - kind of control-freaky, but it's necessary because at any stage he could lose his future. So during the racing season he trains every day and at weekends he stays in, because if he doesn't stay in and loses sleep and races the following weekend he makes mistakes."
Lewis accepts this. "My Dad has pointed that out to me," he volunteers. "I wouldn't really have noticed until it was too late. I'm mature enough now to work out that stuff but still I need sometimes to be guided. Hate to say it." He smiles.
So Lewis lives at home and accepts that the freedom of the average 18-year-old boy is not something he can experience. "I want to make my family proud of me, that's what drives me," he says. "Yeah, it has been difficult - I'm different to a lot of people my age because I don't laze about, have girlfriends. I guess I could do some of it but it doesn't interest me at the moment because there's somewhere I'm aiming to get and I'm not there yet. To get to Formula One means you're one of the top 20 drivers in the world, and I want to be the top of that."
There are a few silver trophies in the sitting room but most of Lewis's 300 plus awards are in the loft. A new room is being built above the garage to house them, but this is not a family that shows off. As Anthony puts it: "You live every day as though you're just beginning, because then the realities of what we do mean more when you finally do succeed. Right now Lewis is regarded as one of the hottest prospective Formula One drivers. Well, that's actually worth nothing at the moment. He has an opportunity and he's still working to get there and there are plenty of kids who have had an opportunity and squandered it. That's why we have made racing the priority as a family."

Gilmore Girls & "I Love You"
Okay so I've just finished Gilmore Girls for the first time (I say this knowing I'll rewatch it many many times in the future) and naturally, I'm obsessed with Luke and Lorelai. There was tension!! There was banter!! There was a beautiful first kiss interrupted by naked Kirk running down the steps!! All the classic romance things I love.
But there was not an "I love you" moment for Luke and Lorelai and I gotta say, I'm kinda upset about that. We saw how important Rory's first "I love you"s were with Dean, Jess, and I guess Logan too. But Lorelai should have had that moment too.
ASP had the opportunity to give them that really sweet moment, bc really we all knew they've been in love for what feels like forever. They could've talked about that, about watching each other go from person to person (like Luke says in AYITL) while slowly realizing the feelings they had for each other. And I know ASP had a quote where she said something about them not needing to say I love you to each other because they show it in a 1000 little ways (or something like that anyways) and I completely understand that. That definitely is them, you can see how much they love each other in everything they do and I love that for them. But I still would have liked to see one big moment. You know, maybe in a little argument and one of them goes "because I love you!" (Although Dean and Rory got the "bc I love you, you idiot" which could also work for Luke and Lorelai.)
Oh, also I know there was that time on Valentine's Day weekend when Luke says "because I love you, and I am going to marry you, and at our wedding, we will have lobster." And Lorelai says "I just need to hear that a little more" or something along those lines. Me too, babe. Me too.
Anyways, yeah, that's me ranting bc I love them and I just wanted that one little thing for them, Amy, please and thank you.

PRAISE FOR purl by Michele Evans
purl, the remarkable debut by Michele Evans, accomplishes so much of what I admire in contemporary poetry. Revisiting, subverting, and modernizing mythological characters, from aeolia to sirenia, from arachnia to xenia, Evans makes their stories ours, and our stories theirs. The poems interrogate family, violence, love, leaving the reader moved, with “eyes unveiled.” Fierce, feminist, experimentally formal (the “diademia” sonnet crown is a tour de force), these poems are carefully crafted (stitch, purl) yet absolutely urgent, “swirls moving forcefully across the page.”
–Moira Egan
In purl, Michele Evans bends Greek mythology into a vessel to deftly capture the rage, the love, and the memory of generations of Black American women longing to be heard. This debut collection marks the emergence of a long-simmering poet ready to shake the world–and anything unrooted–with her elegies.
–Brooke C. Obie, award-winning author of Book of Addis: Cradled Embers
With poems that take their titles from Greek mythology references, Michele Evans‘s purl layers the reader in a world at once unique and at the same time achingly familiar. Evans’s poems weave threads of intimacy, anguish, loss, and more in a work that ranges in form and voice. And it’s these voices that become a chorus, singing their human songs in this crowning debut.
–Teri Ellen Cross Davis, author of a more perfect Union and Haint
These virtuosic poems swirl and sing. Michele Evans‘s generous debut collection knits together Greek mythology with contemporary reflections that feel both prescient and deft. As Evans reflects, i recast their sorrows in/stanzas, statues, and stones/replacing my reality/with illusions. Her work is a weaving and reimagination of Greek mythology that is compelling and necessary.
–Saida Agostini, author of let the dead in

Silver medal on the party, they dined together, danced, listened to Cassandra play piano, and sang together. Mortimer was a little slow in serving drinks, but maybe next time the Goths can redeem themselves and earn gold.
Cassandra Goth loves classical music, and plays piano, she is also working on her violin… that has a way to go yet. Alexander finds nothing more fun than books and responsibility. They’re good kids, but should they have some friends?
Cassandra started a good friendship with Molly Prescott, and together they snuck out to the hidden pet cemetery on Deadgrass Island one night. They didn’t find any ghost pets but they did bond and even build a snowman together- marking the first snowy night in winter.
Alexander looks up to his dad, Mortimer, who has gained three levels in parenting and forged a supportive bond with his son. Alexander is working on getting all his manners in the green before he eventually ages up. Two days away-
Bella used asp perks to gain the observant trait, hopefully it will help with her secret agent career. She’s been having nightmares about abductions again.
Mortimer got promoted at work… maybe now he’ll have the confidence to start writing his book.
-Cameo of Molly Prescott (Friend of Cassandra)
-Several cameos in their dinner party. Do you see Don?
-This family was originally remade by kawaiibambifawn, I enjoyed playing them.
