Interesting to come across this photo of the site were the album art was taken, because one of the main themes of the album "Wish You Were Here" is Absence, and this photo is absent of the guys shaking hands, with the one guy on fire. (Theme within a theme) Ironic and iconic.
The album art on the cover is depicting the "absence of trust", by showing that the one guy is on fire (representing his feeling of getting burned and not trusting the guy he's shaking hands with, implying they are making a deal) I this photo, the fear is gone!

ahh elizabeth vandiver's lectures pointing out a heartbreaking moment in the odyssey i wasn't even aware of:
telemachus addresses eumaeus the swineherd as atta (ἄττα). in my fagles edition it's translated as "old friend", but as vandiver points out, atta has two meanings: it can be used as a familiar-but-respectful form of address to an older man (which is how telemachus uses it), but significantly it's also baby-talk for "father", parallel to papa/dada. it's what telemachus WOULD have called odysseus growing up, but now telemachus refers to him as xenos, a visiting stranger/foreigner.
like imagine. odysseus is in disguise as a beggar, it's the first time he's seen his son since infancy, and one of the first things he hears telemachus say, to another man, is "daddy, who is this stranger?"
#it's the switched roles! the topsy turvy conditions that have developed at ithaca in odysseus' absence#okay technically he asks 'from where does this stranger come to visit you' but he is ESSENTIALLY asking for his identity#and like of course it's wonderful that telemachus knows to trust and look out for eumaeus who is a really good person#eumaeus greets him with kisses like a father when odysseus can't#and odysseus does not act jealous of their bond but. how clear the loss of that time together IS at that moment#tagamemnon#the odyssey#odysseus#telemachus#eumaeus#🏷️

As a survivor of abuse I relate to Machete so much. I've always felt unclean for no reason except being told I was unclean, and it made me feel worthless or revolting by default. Like, no matter what I did I would be filthy and unpleasant to be around.
Seeing that he can be loved, makes me feel like maybe I could be loved too.

#abuse is one of those things that can strongly warp your perception of yourself and the world around you#if you're told you're a bad person often enough (especially by someone you should be able to trust and rely on)#you start to believe it yourself#even in the absence of any proof of that being the case#sometimes you're able to view the situation objectively and come to a rational conclusion that you're not#uniquely awful/ugly/stupid/sinful/worthless#you're just a normal person and you have been brainwashed to resent yourself for your imaginary flaws#it's still really difficult to free yourself from that way of thinking once it has taken root#it's not impossible but it is a test of perseverance#in the beginning it just feels like you're lying to yourself when you make the conscious effort to fix the damage#and think of yourself more kindly#sorry that got off track#answered#anonymous

i really love the 'it came to me in a dream' moments when writing.. i had just made the main human knight character for this story and named him but had no appearance in mind until i woke up this morning already 100% certain that he looks EXACTLY like george harrison
#he's the next in line for the throne but he is NOT the eldest son. the eldest son is a bastard#who is trying to be legitimised by killing a dragon that killed the king's brother#so our guy mr harrison is like aw fuck i cannot let my older brother be recognised as legitimate. i need to kill that dragon first#but holly was a witness to the king's brother's death and knows that no dragon killed him. kingbrother killed himself thus rendering him#unable to go to heaven by christian* doctrine and a sinner. meaning that avenging him shouldn't be rewarded at all#*sorry the concept of knights is completely inextricable from religion & the absence of xtianity in medieval european fantasy is a shame#anyway when bastard son kills the dragon and gets the evidence of kingbrother's body out of the cave this forces sir harrison#(a complete jerk btw)#to work towards making this tiny little pest kobold thing someone whose eyewitness testimony would be trusted in court. no easy ask.#dog knight story

have been watching some of my fav cr2 moments all day bc if criticizing one campaign does anything it certainly reminds me what i cherished about previous ones and genuinely man i think fjord & jester might be one of my favourite love stories and i have a horrendously long draft i’ve been working on for months analyzing why i think their story is so well done but like. it truly has such a good build of friendship to confidants they allow to see pieces of them no one else does to the pining and then swapping who was pining and them growing to be steady supports and protectors of one another and after All That. they actually get into a relationship and find love with each other. and now they’re looking for wedding venues on the moon . get me out of here i love them so much
#as always w fjorester posting#bracing myself for the comments about the laura and travis of it all and like i do agree that they are a sweet couple and the things they#say about one another through the vehicle of fjorester are great and funny and sweet#but like. they are so good to me because of the characters they are. and of course in the sense that all dnd characters are comprised in#part by who creates and embodies them. the relevance travis and laura have to the narrative strength of fjord and jesters love story is#minimal in terms of how their marriage influences it. like it. certainly matters in terms of them being two players and actors who trust#each other. but that’s the case for like. how laura and taliesins trust informs percahlia#like if Anything i actually think fj haters are more ideologically correct than the fj lovers whose first line is always about the laura and#travis of it all. because i do think that a developing relationship portrayed in an improv setting by a couple who is already in a committed#relationship actually dead greater risk of falling flat narratively because the existing bond between players will blind them to the absence#of an analogous bond in their characters.#but fjorester is compelling because of the incisive character work both of them do that amounts to two characters who find home in one#another. nobodies doing it like fjord and jester#(i say in full view of the fact that percahlia is fully equal 2 them in my mind)#fjord stone#jester lavorre#fjord + jester#fjorester#critical role#cr2

I dropped out. Anyway, thankfully, I can start a 19-hour schedule in start/mid January, so I´m very happy about that, but I'm still extremely disappointed in myself and my "health."

#p4#p4g#persona 4#persona 4 golden#hanamura yosuke#yosuke hanamura#im so so so so weak for this scene because it's really... yosuke stepping up to fill in for yu in yu's absence#teddie's the one that jumpstarts it when he says he wants to visit nanako but yosuke makes the connection immediately#and doesn't let it become a missed opportunity and his actions became so crucial in this scene#he understood the gravity of the situation and starts reaching out to everyone else#also when yu is down for the count kanji is yosuke's first point of contact#listen LISTEN the yosuke kanji friendship is so dear to my heart#yosuke called kanji first and then naoto second even though naoto is supposed to be the “sensible” one#but its also about the way he delegates - he trusts kanji to storm the police station with him while getting naoto to check on nanako#and having naoto disseminate information to the rest of the team#and it's actually so clever because naoto may be known by the police#kanji is more intimidating and yosuke understood that speed and force was more crucial here#but naoto's level headedness made him a better candidate for checking in on nanako#because if nanako had disappeared then naoto as a detectice would be the first on scene as well as being the best in assessing the situation#intuitively i would have thought to being naoto to the station#but this was actually way better#chewing glass like yosuke being yu's second in command really isnt just some kind of throwaway line like he really gets it#he knows how to strategise and he knows the strengths of his friends the way yu does and how to best get them going#and also how yosuke's directions go more or less unquestioned? especially in this time of crisis? when yu isn't around?#the team doesn't splinter off and quabble amongst themselves they paid attention to yosuke and listened to him!!!#because they trust him like how they trust yu!!!!#AAAAAAAAAAAH#yosuke oh yosuke yosuke truly my beloved#he's good with his queue
