i think what upsets me most, besides the fact that this means no more accordion unless i somehow miraculously get it fixed, is that despite my best efforts to be careful and not mess up, i still managed to make a mistake and fuck it up. despite understanding and appreciating how expensive and valuable and fragile this instrument is, despite my best efforts to keep it safe and in good condition, i still managed to mess up and damage it.

like ... I just mess up. I have something nice, something of value, and I cannot seem to keep it safe and taken care of. things end up ruined. shirts get holes, dresses get stains, electronics get battery acid leaking or cracked, dishes get broken, book pages get torn or bent, trinkets get chipped, instruments are bonked and rattled. i am so terrified of handling anything that things most often just stay sitting in lidded bins so they are safe from carpet beetles and dust and dirt and food and me.

i just feel awful, i dont understand why I can't just keep things safe and in good condition ?? why is this so impossible for me, especially when i care so much ??

I've seen an increase in accordion content warnings (not the instrument, the collapsible drop down menu which is otherwise hidden except for a tiny symbol) in the author's notes on AO3.

Please don't use these.

They're hard to notice, and you can just put your content warnings in the end notes and say they're there, and a person can click, see them, and then return to the back of the chapter.

The tiny little arrow is not super accessible, is not visually immediate to readers, and is not a 'clever way' of hiding your content warnings (which should also be in the goddamned tags unless you ran into a tag limit or are just writing 400~ kinks and can't be bothered).

You're not supposed to be hiding your content warnings. Spoilers never matter more than your content warnings. You can choose to put your content warnings in the end notes and avoid the spoilers, because a sentence: 'CWs in the end notes' is so much clearer than a tiny little > symbol that people have to click to see all your warnings.

Don't do it.

Save the cleverness for a site that's not built on being open and transparent about your content warnings if you're not going to choose Creator Chose Not To Use.

Super quick doodles vs. Full sketches!

I wanted to see just the stark differences between my doodles and my render sketches (idk what else to call em LOL) and so I drew this for funsies and to practice my own style! -Anddd to play around with the DCA outfits o3o

The sketch is just cleaned up, not drawn over with lineart, so it's still messy but got that flowy sketchy charm!

Usually Moon is my favorite but that Sun pose and face is just PERFECT. I am so surprised at how I was able to draw that - especially so easily! I was struggling with Moon's face for a bit, so maybe that practice made Sun just come out extra noice!

You'll probably notice some interesting design choices.

Long story short, drawing the ruffles are a bit meh for me, and ironically I don't like drawing necks - which the ruffles hid.

My fix? Put absolutely NOTHING there. Magic✨✨✨

Bendy accordion torso hehe-

The pants have elastic drawstrings for 2 reasons.

1. Ease of access/adjustable. 2. I wear pants like that and they make me happy :3

I also kept forgetting to draw the ribbons, but I decided to play around with the idea of them to see if i could turn it into something fun for me. I turned them more into a wristband with dangling bells - it reminds me of paddle drums! I added them to the bottom of the pants to make the design repeat just a little. :)

Idk what possessed me to draw them so cunty but here we are. o3o

I love the goofy and stylistic mouths I use when I doodle them, but they end up looking like they don't fit right when I render, so unfortunately they disappear for the normal smile...

At least the normal smile is still very charming! ^^

Very interesting chalet style 1999 home in Beaver Creek, Colorado. 7bds, 14ba, 11.5ba. $18.5M + $125mo. HOA fee.

The main sitting room has a very dramatic ceiling and there are 3 double doors to the garden.

The dining room has 2 tables. Maybe one is for everyday dining.

The kitchen is different. Look at the huge island. The kitchen's kind of an odd shape, though.

The family room has a mural on the ceiling that reflects the mountains outside the window.

This cozy bedroom isn't the primary but it has a great fireplace and a terrace.

The mountain views from the bedroom terraces are beautiful.

Very nice home office has a gorgeous fireplace and wood paneling.

This guest room looks like a hotel room with a desk and sitting area. It also has a larger terrace.

Seems like it would be cold out here in winter, though.

The primary bedroom has it's own living room. It's nice how the accordion doors can close the bed in for privacy.

The home theater is spread out with comfy living room furniture.

The billiard room has a bar.

And off the billiard room is the bunker, probably b/c this is ski country and they may get lots of visitors.

The indoor/outdoor pool.

It has a garage door, but would that keep the water warm in winter? When the door is down, there's still a gap.

The patio in winter with the hot tub frozen over. Or is that steam?

The room where skiers suit up.

I like it much better in the summer.

The home's proximity to a park and ski access is very close by.

I like this view from the terrace better. I hate the cold.

am i ACTIVELY working on them? No I got really caught up in kfak verse!

Right now I',m ending out the chapters of my brady/benny fic. Then finishing Bikeriders smutfic because its ALMOST done (part 1 at least)

and then after that it will be LB part 4

But plans for it are some rough angry car sex (consensual) and maybe we'll get John's backstory

a snippet for you:

“You’re really hitting me in the ‘yes daddy harder’ places with that face you’re pulling right now,” John says, swirling his finger through the over-complicated mess of a coffee in front of him.

It tasted awful, but he ordered it just to see if the kid behind the counter could actually pull it off.

Chick continued to keep his ‘yes daddy harder’ expression, which was in fact a look of profound exasperation and disappointment. And didn’t really awaken anything in John, but he found it plenty amusing to see the way the older mans eyes narrowed ever so slightly.

“I could have you thrown in jail today if i wanted, you know,” Chick Harding takes a sip of his own soy latte, “I could make up a reason, I hold your life in my hands.” 

“That’s a misuse of power and a miscarriage of justice, and also you like me. I’m your favorite little POW just admit it.” 

“Someone’s going to pop you one in the mouth, mocking veterans like that.”

John spreads his hands wide in a dont shoot the messenger sort of gesture “hey, I can claim it. My great gandpops was a POW. Got his flight jacket and everything hanging in my closet. This is my history.” 

“I think I should arrest you.”

John grins at him.

“You been meeting with Brady?” Chick asks, setting his coffe down with a pleased hum, begins folding his utensils wrapper accordion style until the cheap paper has become nothing more than a little square. It’s the same thing he does every time, restless fingers the only betrayal that the parole officer wasn’t just a robot.

Which John already knew was false. He’d looked the guy up the moment he’d had access to internet again. Had a neatly sealed Juvenile record and an exemplary military record which meant the guy was both secretly interesting and also probably a little batshit.

“Every couple weeks just like those fascist fucks tells me too. Just like i meet you every six weeks and we pretend I’m in need of babysitting and you pretend you’re not hoping that college boy will finally write his number on your coffee cup.” John leans forward on his elbows,the table creaking under his weight  “I could do it for you, if you’re too shy.” 

Chick doesn’t give him the satisfaction of blushing, but John can see the way his sholulders straighten slightly.

“He even looks like me a bit too. Curly brown hair,” John smooths his fingers across his mustache, “ the sexy landing strip. You sure you’re not displacing some sexual attraction?”

“You are the devil incarnate. That barista means nothing to me.” 

“You shouldn’t be so grumpy, meeting your favorite little felon.” 

“Only person around here that seems grumpy is you, Egan.”

“Me?” John stretches, tilting his chair back with one foot until he nearly topples backward, “Whay’ve I got to be grumpy about? I’ve got a shitty dead-end job, a dying grandma who, by the way, isn’t actually even my grandma, and i’ve got to check in with some middle aged drill sergeant with a thing for some guy who looks like Sean Cody’s next up and coming.” 

“I don’t know what that even means.”

“Oh you so do.” John smiles.

I really need to start making my whiteboard drawings smaller, or at least not spend so much time on a sketch AVJDBK–

I wanted to do more stuff today on the Whiteboard (made by @00lari00) but I wanted to add Accordion and Violin to it first. So I added their stick forms...and got carried away with their human forms

ngl, I do love the bigger sketch I worked on, but by GOD I gave up trying to colour the clothes because Whiteboard is homophobic (/j) and won't let us have access to the Fill Tool. But really, I gotta stop doing a sketch before doing the art if I wanna be faster at this...but I caaaaaan't–

Magz perspective so far. Comparing function alt text and image descriptions on Tumblr, specifically.

Alt text.

Pros:

Discreet. Can open and close image information as needed.

Easy way add information about image.

Often conforms to common screen reader etiquette.

Original purpose is supposed give information of the function of an image (example: "infographic about bird population"), but is compatible with more in-depth image descriptions text so both can be used.

Cons:

If have big text settings (common accommodation for low vision), it not take many words for Tumblr mobile's alt text window to be difficult close or navigate (the close button overflows off-screen), as Tumblr is not well accessible design.

Less guarantee alt text window will conform to a device's text appearance settings.

If an image is deleted by staff, or a blog deactivates n nukes some of the images they uploaded - the original alt text context also disappears.

Image descriptions.

Pros:

Original purpose is for information given about an image is descriptive, as opposed to just functional. Giving more contextual information.

If an image gets deleted or censored on a post, still have the information about what the image was, on the post.

The ID, because of being part of the text post, will often conform to whatever text accessibility settings a user has on their device (unless Tumblr entirely refuses to).

Cons:

The descriptions tend be made vision-centric in choice (example: colors), which not all low vision n blind users would be able relationally get (though some would).

Long descriptions, especially without breaks, can create visual noise (or audio noise in the case of screenreaders) - despite at times being necessary. The information cannot be "collapsed" as needed (besides the automatic long post shortening on dashboards). A limitation of options given to users for posts (no in-text post "accordions", for example).

Everything is pros and cons, and one not inherent better than other. They can both be used for help visual disabilities n visual processing disabilities.
