Scrum, Actually: Fixing the Daily Catch-Up
We called it a “daily catch-up.”It felt more like a group panic disguised as a status update.Nobody knew why we were doing it—just that we had to. Then I read the Scrum Guide.Turns out, we were doing it wrong. Here’s how we fixed it. The first time I experienced a Daily Scrum, I thought it was a job interview. Every day. For the same job. That I already had. At 9:30 AM, we’d gather like…

Workflows That Work: Bring Order, Focus, and Flow to Your Delivery
Workflows That Work don’t just happen. They’re designed—with clarity, intention, and a deep understanding of how value actually flows through a team. But let’s be honest. Too often, the workflow boards I see in software and digital product teams feel more like a visual mess than a helpful tool. Tickets pile up in ambiguous columns, blocked work is buried under layers of “in progress” confusion,…

Thriving in the Digital Age: The Imperative of Agile Transformation
Introduction: Navigating the Digital Landscape
In the rapidly advancing digital landscape, businesses are presented with unprecedented challenges and opportunities. The emergence of new technologies, changing consumer behaviors, and global market dynamics have transformed the way companies operate and compete. To thrive in this digital age, organizations must embrace agility and adaptability, making agile transformation a necessity rather than an option.
1. Understanding Agile Transformation
1.1 What is Agile Transformation?
Agile transformation involves adopting agile principles and practices across an organization, with the goal of improving flexibility, innovation, and responsiveness to change. It encompasses a shift in mindset, culture, and processes, empowering teams to deliver value more efficiently and effectively.

In today's dynamic business landscape, traditional and rigid project management and product development methodologies are inadequate. Agile transformation enables organizations to stay ahead of the curve, responding quickly to market shifts, customer feedback, and emerging opportunities.
2. Key Principles of Agile Transformation
2.1 Customer-Centricity
Agile transformation highlights the importance of aligning with and satisfying customer needs.By prioritizing customer value and feedback, organizations can deliver products and services that truly resonate with their target audience.
2.2 Iterative Development
In agile methodologies, iterative development is encouraged, with projects segmented into smaller, manageable increments. This allows for frequent testing, feedback, and iteration, leading to faster time-to-market and higher-quality outcomes.
3. Implementing Agile Transformation
3.1 Leadership Support
Successful agile transformation requires buy-in and support from leadership at all levels of the organization. Leaders must champion the agile mindset, empower teams, and create an environment where experimentation and innovation are encouraged.
3.2 Cross-Functional Collaboration
Agile transformation breaks down silos and encourages cross-functional collaboration. By bringing together diverse perspectives and skill sets, organizations can foster creativity, problem-solving, and knowledge sharing.
4. Overcoming Challenges
4.1 Cultural Resistance
One of the biggest challenges of agile transformation is overcoming cultural resistance to change. Organizations must address mindset shifts, communication barriers, and fear of failure to create an environment conducive to agile practices.
4.2 Scaling Agile
As organizations grow and evolve, scaling agile becomes increasingly complex. It requires careful planning, coordination, and alignment across teams and departments to ensure consistency and effectiveness at scale.
Conclusion: Embracing Agility for Success
In conclusion, thriving in the digital age requires organizations to embrace agility and adaptability. Agile transformation enables companies to navigate uncertainty, seize opportunities, and deliver value in a rapidly changing landscape. By understanding the principles of agile transformation, implementing best practices, and overcoming challenges, organizations can position themselves for long-term success in the digital era.

THE BIRDS MOTIFS!
AFTG - Bird mafia (Ravens)
TRC - Ravens (Chainsaw is the best mascot)
Haikyuu - Crows
SOC - Crows
CORVIDS! (Little too excited about this but I do love corvids)
CORVIDS! NO YOU ARE NOT TOO EXCITED!! I LOVE CORVIDS! I AM ALL ABOUT CORVIDS!
(I keep nuts in my bag and I feed the crows by my apartment like.... once a day minimum, and they follow me everywhere and it's the sweetest little thing. When they see me and they get all excited when I shake my backpack and it's sorhefj I love corvids so so so much.)
Corvids, especially crows and ravens, being incredibly devoted and protecting those who gave them kindness and comfort. And the way they mate for life, and they form packs and bonds. And when you're with them you're with them for life. They remember your face, the little mannerisms that form you I just rtgejfds I love corvids so so so much. I love found families with bird motifs, especially corvid motifs.
#crows for the afterlife and wisdom and intelligence and TRANSFORMATION (looking at you Kaz Brekker; Kageyama and Tsukki)#ravens for wisdom and knowledge and MAGIC AND TRICKERY and symbols of the unknown#MA G I CIRTFEJWDM#B E I N G KNOWN#adaptability and agility and i just glefjadsfehjdwnsm ahhhhhhHHHH#the bird symbolism gets me every. damn. time.#also robins. because they symbolize happiness and good luck and rebirth; and loss and as messengers for loved ones#(compare ravens to foxes who are also intelligent and full of wisdom and known for guiding others through difficult times and turmoil)#(difficulty and challenges and trickery oooooo)#i could go on i fuck with animal symbolism#(big his dark materials fan. probably has a part of it)#fun fact my animal clan is a sturgeon#in ojibwe culture it's associated with teaching/healing idk just wanted to share that bc i practice traditional medicine and#especially teaching and intelligence and science idk i think it's neat considering but that's a separate thing sorry sorry#it ties into that fascination with animal symbolism#(i am ojibwe btw i'm not appropriating)#rederiss#aftg#haikyuu!!#six of crows#the raven cycle

Well tonight's practice did not fill me with confidence.
We treated runs like the real thing and had classmates in the ring. On our first run Forte broke his start line sit to circle the person who threw the piggy for him last week, looking for it.
It took an embarrassing effort to get him back.
Our second run he hit the contacts but blew through them instead of stopping for 2on2off. I went back each time and made him stop but it took several attempts.
And our last run was better in terms of performance but I was super anxious and the instructor called me out on sounding too stern. Which, fair. This is supposed to be a fun game we are playing together.
My plan is to not bring the piggy in from the car at all for the trial. I'm going to try to let go of any feelings of embarrassment and just figure we'll NQ.
It's an opportunity to practice in a different environment since I expect it will be far busier than practices. But at least it's at our club so there will be some familiarity.
At the end of the day, a Q is not more important than maintaining positivity both for Forte and for myself.
I am glad I only signed up for two runs a day and two days. I think trying for four runs in a day or three days, even with only two runs, would be too much for me.
This is a reminder to myself to take deep breaths and not let my anxiety get the better of me. We both enjoy playing agility and it would be foolish to sour it with putting too much pressure on either of us.

#dogblr#belgian tervuren#forte#dog agility#agility#at work this week i practiced mini runs with dog distractions#one where i asked my boss to stand right at the gate/ring and has her PSA dog bark#and where i had my coworker play with her dog in the ring#that dog is Forte's bestie#both times he never even flicked an ear in their directions#I've decided that no matter what the outcome#I'll spoil him with something special afterwards#maybe a hamburger from a fast food place#really though i think nerves getting the better of me is our biggest hurdle

Rethinking Estimations in the Age of AI
Rethinking estimations in AI-driven processes has become essential in the fast-paced world of IT and software development. Estimations shape project timelines, budgets, and expectations, yet traditional practices often lead to inefficiency and frustration. In a previous post, I explored the #NoEstimates movement and its call to move beyond traditional estimation techniques. Here, I’ll dive deeper…

For a dog that doesn't practice agility she sure remembers a lot!
I do think we need to practice some handling exercises. She doesn't remember her directionals and her distance handling is pretty much gone. (gamblers did not happen at this trial!) I think we can practice with bars on ground exercises this winter.
I'm also rusty with my timing and cues. Yet I was very happy with both of her regular runs. She got two Qs and her YPS was still the fastest out of anyone in the open class, not just the ace senior class. (Which was just her)
#my heart is so happy to play a bit of agility#i think to make things smoother for both of us we do need to practice but we can keep it low impact as possible.#agility#australian shepherd#dogblr#aayla#dog#aussie#asca nationals 2023
