This is a real patriot's home for sale and it's very attractive outside- the inside, not so much. I like the mailbox thanking the military. The house was built in 1990 in Albuquerque, NM, 3bds, 3ba, $489K.
Tumblr media
Check out the roof.
Tumblr media
It looks cute from the front. Kinda beachy.
Tumblr media
Looks like the roof is stained down there.
Tumblr media
Behind the house, the patio around the pool is red.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This looks nice.
Tumblr media
One photo of the interior. It's nothing special.

[FAN STORY] "Presley's WONDERFUL -- Singer's Kiss Leaves Girl, 13, Real Shook" by Naomi Callarman — Albuquerque, New Mexico, April, 1956.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"He kissed me and ... oooh!"
Those older and more sedate may find 13-year-old Carla Singer's statement a bit incoherent. But not any of her fellow teen-agers enraptured by the nation's current bobby-sox favorite, singer Elvis Presley.
Carla [Singer], daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Singer, 4916 San Luis, NW, is the envy of all her feminine classmates at St. Vincent's Academy today--she was kissed, "really kissed" by Presley following his performance at the Armory last night.
Her big moment came when Presley was leaving the Armory about 11:30 following his final performance. As Carla breathlessly tells the story (. . . all the girls want to know just everything that happened):
"We were all crowded up there at the door waiting for him to come out and when he did all the girls started swarming around him and pushing to get up closer ( . . . and he almost had his coat pulled off) and some of them begged him to kiss them. . . ."
"Friendly Kisses"
"So he kissed two or three of the girls . . . but they were just sort of friendly kisses on the cheek . . . he kissed Nancy (classmate Nancy Hebenstreit) like that. . . ."
"I was just sort of standing there and he looked over at me real sweet and reached out his arms and put them around me and kissed me, not just a friendly kiss (Nancy said he even closed his eyes).
". . . I'm still just dazed, I'll never forget it ever, it was the MOST wonderful thing that's ever happened to me."
Carla, "still just dazed" as she is, and Nancy, (even though she got only one of the "friendly kisses") are fired today with plans for starting a local chapter of the "Elvis Presley Fan Club."
"I'm going to have to write back to his main fan club in Tennessee and see what I have to do to start one here (I want to see if I can get his picture too). . . I know there are at least 12 girls here in school who'll want to join right away," Carla says.

Attracts Big Crowd
Presley, a "rock 'n roll" singer who was recently signed to a long-term movie contract on the basis of his sudden success with the teen-agers, attracted one of the largest crowds ever to attend a performance at the Armory.
Police Lt. Walter Coleman said that 10 off-duty policemen were hired by the Armory management to handle the crowds, mostly composed of teen-agers like Carla and Nancy.
After the show the police officers had to form a "guard" around Presley to keep him from being completely mobbed by his eager fans.
About the only comment that Carla can manage today on Presley's performance is " . . . Oh, he was just wonderful."
"I'll never forget it," she breathes dazedly.
The London Daily Mirror flew its Hollywood correspondent here to report Presley's appearance.

ADDITIONAL INFO: Now, Carla Singer, the girl Elvis "really kissed" we're talking about here, was friends with Nancy Kozikowski (then Nancy Hebenstreit). Nancy is a successful artist today. She had her picture with EP taken in Las Vegas, 1956 (unfortunately Carla didn't have the same good fortune as far as I know), and has a story to share on that. I shared a different article on that story here.

The Middle of Nowhere
Friday, October 13, 2023
We spent last night in rural Kansas. A friend asked where we were. We were parked at a rest stop on a minor state highway that we found via the iOverlander app. The DPW or whoever maintains the rest area bathroom indicated it was out of service by erecting a big Road Closed barrier across the front of the entrance.
The name of the town we were in has been lost to history. The map shows us midway between the northern and southern Kansas borders and 3/4 of the way to Colorado. The nearest interstate is 100 miles away.
Tumblr media
We tell the friend we are somewhere between no man's land and the middle of nowhere.
Tumblr media
Dora went outside to play after dinner, but got chilled through by the gale. 🎶 "Oklahoma where the wind comes sweepin' down the plain," all the way to Kansas where it fetches up against the side of our RV all night.
--
This morning, the wind is still carrying on. We check the weather. The National Weather Service had a number of pieces of important information for us. One was the speed of the wind which was gusts up to 65 miles an hour. That's a hurricane to us East coasters. Second, the nearest town was named Ingress. Third, the grain elevators we had been passing all day were called cities. Come on, NWS, shouldn't a city at least have a gas station?
Tumblr media
The cloud cover forecast for Farmington is iffy, and it is well more than an 11-hour drive away. The forecast for Albuquerque has improved. Albuquerque is much closer. We revise our plan, and make for Albuquerque, which is right in the middle of the eclipse path.
We exit Kansas, drive a nasty narrow highway through Oklahoma, and find a lunch spot in New Mexico where the wind has mercifully diminished. A fellow traveler points out our first view of the Rockies in the distance. He tells us he is visiting the end of the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta with his family this weekend. Balloons!? What a treat. Let's go!
Tumblr media
We find a nice camping spot just outside of Santa Fe, only an hour outside Albuquerque. It is the parking lot of the petroglyphs we had visited with Glen and Jeanne. We all get out of the car and stretch our legs as we hike the steep, rocky paths to see the ancient runes. They are still there.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After dinner, we meet some people in the parking lot who are coming back here tomorrow to view the eclipse. We imagine the parking lot will be jammed.
Tumblr media
We turn in early, as tomorrow has a tight schedule: up at 4:30, drive to Albuquerque for the 6:30 dawn launch, lead a 7:30 community service Zoom call, then drive back up north, and find a good site for eclipse viewing by 9:30.

Flash flooding in a New Mexico village prompts rescues and evacuations, with more rain in the forecast.
Monsoon rains have triggered 19 Flash Flood Emergencies in burn scar areas from the South Fork and Salt fires. Firefighting crews warn that soil affected by wildfires can repel water, overwhelming drainage systems.
A village in south-central New Mexico, known for attracting outdoor nature enthusiasts and cultural tourists, experienced its 13th Flash Flood Emergency due to runoff from heavy rain over burn scars left by recent wildfires.

The National Weather Service in Albuquerque issued a Flash Flood Emergency around 11 p.m. local time on Friday, warning that rainfall exceeding an inch would impact bridges, culverts, and low-lying areas around Ruidoso.
Three additional Flash Flood Emergencies were issued on Saturday as heavy rain continued, bringing the total number for the South Fork Fire and Salt Fire burn scar areas to 19 since June 19. Ruidoso has been included in 13 of these emergencies.
The NWS Albuquerque forecasts more excessive rainfall on Sunday, with many areas expected to receive at least an inch of rain. A Flood Watch remains in effect through Sunday night.
Lincoln County Emergency Management reported issuing several evacuation orders and conducting at least two water rescues.
On Saturday, the New Mexico National Guard reported rescuing or evacuating at least 12 people and two dogs.
"You can't help but feel for these folks. Ruidoso just can't seem to catch a break," the National Guard wrote on Facebook Sunday.
Approximately 100 National Guardsmen are in Ruidoso, distributing sandbags, assisting with road repairs, and implementing flood mitigation measures.
Mud and debris on roadways created slippery conditions, contributing to at least one major crash, Lincoln County Sheriff Michael Wood reported on Saturday. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Climate and Average Weather Year Round in 45458-Dayton-OH:

“The bottom line is, a large part of Lincoln County in New Mexico is essentially redesigning itself,” Wood said in a video posted on Facebook. “We’re encountering new waterways that we’ve never seen before, causing issues we haven’t faced due to the recent fires and flooding. Stay alert, be extremely careful, and exercise caution.”
Burn scars from nearby fires, such as the South Fork and Salt fires, have left the soil unable to absorb rainfall, increasing the risks of landslides and flooding.
Monsoonal rains and wildfires have caused damage or destruction to hundreds of structures and resulted in at least two fatalities.
In response, over $6 million in federal assistance has been allocated to the region following President Joe Biden’s declaration of a major disaster area on June 20.
Actor Matthew McConaughey recently shared on social media about the village's difficulties, providing a link on how to help local residents.
"The fires happened, but don’t forget us," village officials posted on Facebook. "Flooding issues are ongoing and may be forgotten in a few months. The best way to support local families affected by the fires and floods is through the Community Foundation of Lincoln County, which provides daily assistance to those who have lost their homes and need immediate support."
Monsoon Activity Shows No Signs of Letting Up
The FOX Forecast Center has warned of an elevated risk for flash flooding over the next week due to enhanced monsoonal moisture combined with a frontal boundary.

A ridge of high pressure over the western U.S. and a trough of low pressure in the Plains are channeling moisture into the Southwest, leading to daily chances of showers and thunderstorms. Rainfall amounts could range from 1 to 2 inches, with some areas experiencing significantly heavier totals.
A Flash Flood Watch was issued for much of New Mexico over the weekend. Alerts will likely be updated as forecasts are refined to identify which communities are most at risk.
Increased rainfall has lowered concerns about wildfires and heat, as the region benefits from greater cloud cover and moisture. Fluctuations in the monsoonal pattern are expected to continue through mid-September before easing.

1 dead after shooting inside Ohio movie theater police say
One person is dead after a late-night shooting at a movie theater in Ohio, according to police. Around 11 p.m. local time on Friday, the Massillon Police Department was notified of a shooting that happened inside Regal Cinemas, 175 Cherry Road NW in Massillon. Officers responded and found a man dead near the front of the lobby. The victim was identified as Daron Davis, 27, from Canton, Ohio. An individual was taken into custody outside the Massillon Police Department shortly after 11:30 p.m., police say. That person, who has not been identified, “is considered a suspect at this time,” police say.  The investigation is ongoing. According to the Regal Cinemas admittance policy on their website, “Protecting the safety of our clientele and cast members is always top priority at Regal Entertainment Group. Therefore, REG does not allow admission to our locations for guests of any age wearing masks*, face paint or face-obscuring hood; or possessing weapons, props or fake weapons.” In recent years, movie theater shootings have occurred across the U.S.  In 2023, an argument over seating at an Albuquerque movie theater escalated into a shooting that left a man dead and sent frightened filmgoers scrambling to flee. In 2014, a man was killed in a movie theater after a shooting in Florida that stemmed from a dispute over a cellphone. And a 2012 shooting at an Aurora, Colorado, movie theater left 12 dead and many others injured.  Source link via The Novum Times
