my idea was that some of these could focus on just all might's life, and others could focus on birthday things! I'm gonna do this as a little event and if anyone else wants to join, they can do it too! it's just a fun little thing to celebrate all might related stuff :]

All Might's Birthday Bash

A series of prompts for June 1st through June 10th - All Might's Birthday. This birthday bash was created by @dogwaterdish and you can find the original post and list here.

I took these prompts and used them to create a 10 part story. Not 10 chapters, these are pretty short, but one cohesive story. Toshinori POV, multiple, if brief, other character appearances. Gen fic. I'll post a part a day for the next 9 days. Happy Birthday, sunflower man!

Day One: Save the Date

There was the usual rumble of conversations and clacking of keyboard keys around the staff office that morning. Toshinori sat hunched over his desk with one pencil behind his ear and a red pen in his hand as he worked on grading a recent hero course exam. One of the many sticky notes on his computer reminded him that those grades needed to be in by tomorrow. No, he hadn’t procrastinated on that, thank you.

His focus was interrupted as Nemuri sashayed over to his desk and hitched a hip on the corner of it. Toshinori paused mid check-mark, leaned back in his chair, and blinked in surprise at his coworker. The dark haired woman smiled and waggled her eyebrows, waving an envelope around in her hands. “I’d think an old pro like you would do better about getting fan mail sent to his agency and not the school!”

Toshinori focused on the mail, which Nemuri tossed in front of him. On top of the test he had been grading. It read: ‘To All Might, UA Academy,’ in a precise printed font. “Ah…”

Ken laughed from a few desks over, his cement like features creasing in a smile. “Like we have control over what our fans do. Didn’t a fan send you an inflatable doll with their own picture taped to the face of it to this office just last year?”

Hizashi had stood to join the conversation then, leaning over Toshinori’s computer. “Pretty sure I saw Nemuri move that in with the rest of her things to the teachers dorms.”

The woman flicked her hair with a coy laugh. “We all have our little fan gifts that we collect, Mic! Its not my fault they all send you headphones and earbuds.”

“Anyway,” Hizashi waved that off, “Do you still have an agency these days, Yagi? How does that work with retiring?”

Toshinori had picked up the mail. It’d been a while since he’d managed to receive something directly. It usually went to the mail room at Might Tower. He read some letters here and there as he could in his career, but All Might had received millions. “Might Agency still exists, for now. Finishing up the last of the hero related paperwork and required documentation. I’m working on transitioning it to a charity and R&D specific organization after that.”

Ken sounded inordinately pleased about that as he commented from his desk, “I’m glad to hear that. I don’t think anyone could hope to take over the Might Agency as a hero without severe backlash. Transitioning is likely the best way to go.”

Nemuri was impatient. “I’m sure that’s all lovely. Now open your mail, Yagi. I want to see what salacious things All Might’s fans write to him!”

Toshinori groaned. His staff did a great job of sorting those letters out and they usually didn��t make it to All Might’s desk. There was the one mail room worker who, after All Might had forgotten her name once, took great pleasure in slipping the wildest, most sexually explicit, fan letters on to his desk once a month in revenge. He was starting to blush now just thinking of it.

Still, with both Nemuri and Hizashi watching in avid expectation, Toshinori took a letter opener and neatly cut through the envelope to pull out the paper within. It was not in anyway what he expected. Someone had meticulously cut out words and letters from a variety of magazines and newspapers published in English. There was a small pile of glitter and confetti tucked into the creases

It read: ‘To All Might, you're my favorite hero. I love you like no other fan does! Retirement doesn’t change that. I know its your birthday this month. Consider this an invite to the best party you’ve ever had. Save the date! Love Always, your very biggest fan.’

The silence among the three of them at the desk stretched so long that even Ken stood up to join them. Finally Hizashi asked, “Is this one of those letters we put in the threat category, or not?”

Even Nemuri didn’t look quite so amused as she had. “If they would have just typed it, I’d call it the usual fan adulation and a weird way to say Happy Birthday. The pasted on words and letters though? Creepy.”

Toshinori found it equally creepy. However, being Japan’s #1 hero had brought out a lot of very creepy fan letters over the years. Really, he didn’t see most of them, but the ones his mail department had flagged as concerning or threats in the past were much creepier than this. “I’m sure its harmless,” he mused, “It’s not like they gave me a location for the invite to go to. Just a very strange birthday letter, I guess.”

Nemuri nodded, along with Hizashi. “You’re probably right. Hey, aren’t those test grades due tomorrow, Yagi?”

“Yes! That’s why I’m working on them!”

How to honor the sacrifice of our fallen service members

For the second time in three days, our current president managed to desecrate the national day of remembrance for service members who gave their lives so that we might be free. The details of that desecration matter, but let’s first discuss how we can honor the sacrifice of the fallen.

First, join the nationwide protests on No Kings Day, June 14, 2025.

June 14, 2025, celebrates both Flag Day and the 250th “Birthday” of the US Army. Both are being hijacked by the current president to serve as a celebration of his birthday—which also falls on June 14.

The president is using Flag Day and the Army’s birthday as a ruse for a military parade in his honor. He has been lobbying for a massive military parade for eight years--since 2017. See Business Insider, (2/6/2018) 'I Want a Parade': Trump Reportedly Pushing the Military for a Parade.

Per the 2018 article in Business Insider,

Trump's idea was reportedly triggered by a French military parade he attended in July [2017] in honor of Bastille Day, according to The Post. Trump was met with a grand display of military vehicles and troops, to which he later noted to Macron that "it was one of the greatest parades I've ever seen." "We're going to have to try to top it," Trump reportedly joked to Macron at the UN General Assembly in September.

By linking his long effort to “top” the Bastille Day parade to the Army’s 250th birthday, Trump has made it impossible for the Army generals to resist his demand as they did in 2017.

The US military will, therefore, be forced to serve as a giant ornament for Trump's birthday bash. The men and women of the military who participate in the parade are not to blame for being co-opted for political purposes. But it is a dangerous precedent that echoes the military-religious “triumphs” for Roman generals who processed through the streets of ancient Rome after a significant victory.

This is where we come in. Many groups are organizing “No Kings Day” protests across the nation. If millions of Americans engage in peaceful public protests on No Kings Day, the story will be the massive resistance to Trump's policies rather than his vainglorious self-adulation at the cost of $45 million to American taxpayers.

I urge you to join the events being organized by existing grassroots organizations. But if your local group is not participating, check out No Kings, a website that will allow you to locate a nearby protest by zip code or map. More importantly, the No Kings website has a “toolkit” to allow you to plan your own protest!

Hundreds of thousands of men and women gave their lives to defend the liberties and freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution. The best way for us to honor their sacrifice is to engage in peaceful protest to defend the rights they sought to preserve for us.

Second, stop the Senate from passing the reconciliation bill.

The reconciliation bill passed by the House is an antidemocratic, inhumane ploy to subvert the Constitution by granting privileges and benefits to the wealthy and powerful at the expense of all other Americans. The reconciliation bill is antithetical to the idea of an America in which rich and poor are equal before the law, and in which government exists to promote the common good.

Among the hundreds of thousands of service members who died for our nation, not a single soldier did so to ensure that the already wealthy could get richer at the expense of the middle class, poor, elderly, and disabled Americans.

Again, there are thousands of ways to help stop the reconciliation bill in the Senate. I mentioned last week that Indivisible is running a phonebank every Tuesday and Thursday in June. But this is no ordinary phonebank! You will be calling voters to connect them directly to their Senators!

Trump's desecration of Memorial Day 2025.

I wrote about Trump's speech at the US Military Academy at West Point on Saturday. On Monday, Trump doubled down on his hateful, partisan take on Memorial Day.

Out of respect for readers, I will not repeat the full text of Trump's initial post on social media, but if you want to view the entire post for yourself, you can see the full text here.

Any rational observer should conclude based on the content of the message, the syntax, and the style (ALL CAPS!) that the president is likely suffering from an ongoing mental health crisis that deserves (at least) professional evaluation, a family intervention, and invocation of the 25th Amendment.

The fact that Trump's Memorial Day social media post is similar to thousands of other posts over the past eight years is no defense to an assertion that external signs strongly suggest that the president is deeply, seriously mentally ill and should be evaluated by a qualified professional.

The early morning social media post matters because it provides context for Trump's speech at Arlington National Cemetery later in the day. The speech and the post together represent the president’s desecration of Memorial Day.

In his post—which begins, HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY TO ALL—Trump attacks his political opponents (SCUM), President Biden (INCOMPETENT), and the federal judiciary “USA HATING JUDGES” and “MONSTERS WHO WANT OUR COUNTRY TO GO TO HELL.”

Much of the rest of the post is spent slandering immigrants who have come to America in search of a better life for themselves and their families.

The only thing missing from Trump's Memorial Day message on social media was any mention of the service members who died so that we might be free. The day honoring their deaths was nothing more than a platform for Trump to attack his enemies. Converting Memorial Day into an opportunity for partisan ranting dishonors the death of every service member who died in the line of duty.

In short, the social media post desecrates their memory and their sacrifice. Trump does not care about them a whit. Indeed, he holds them in contempt. See (9/05/20), Fox News confirms Trump mocked US troops as ‘suckers’; Biden calls him a disgrace - syracuse.com.

Later in the day, Trump delivered a speech at Arlington National Cemetery. The full text is here: Transcript of Trump’s Memorial Day Speech May 26, 2025 - SJO Daily.

For much of the speech, Trump delivered words written by others, words he did not believe. He could not restrain himself from going off-script to use the solemn occasion to promote his greatness and to suggest that God wanted him to be president for the 250th birthday of the Army.

In the passage below, you can see where Trump veered off course to talk about himself (bolded and italicized):

These extraordinary American heroes and their immense and ultimate sacrifices, they offer only the faintest glimpse at the infinite grace we have received from all who laid down their lives for America over the past 250 years. We’re going to have a big, big celebration, as you know, 250 years. In some ways, I’m glad I missed that second term where it was because I wouldn’t be your president for that. Most important of all, in addition, we have the World Cup, and we have the Olympics. Can you imagine? I missed that four years, and now look what I have, I have everything. Amazing the way things work out. God did that. I believe that too. God did it. You know, I got the World Cup and I got the Olympics. The 250 years was not mine, I’d like to take credit. But I got the Olympics, I got the World Cup when I was president, and I said, boy, it’s too bad I won’t be president then, and look what happened. I, it turned out, and we’re going to have a great time. We’re going to have a great celebration. But most important of all is the 250th anniversary that blows everything away, including the World Cup and including the Olympics, as far as I’m concerned. In any corner of the cemetery, at any resting place for our war dead, anywhere on Earth, you’ll find untold stories of equal hero, heroism and heartbreak, unmatched patriotism and devotion, and acts of selflessness and courage.

In his speech at Arlington, Trump conflated Memorial Day and his big birthday bash-- “the 250th anniversary that blows everything away.”

No part of commemorating the fallen involves self-adulation or claims of divine intervention in partisan outcomes. (“I missed that four years, and now look what I have, I have everything . . . God did that. I believe that too. God did it.”)

To state the obvious, if President Biden had stuttered or tripped over a word during a Memorial Day Speech at Arlington, the headline would be, “President Biden gives halting speech at Arlington.��� But Trump desecrates a Memorial Day speech with pathological narcissism, and it is treated as an aside.

It is, therefore, up to us to honor those who gave their lives in defense of America, its Constitution, and its people. We can do so by protesting the grotesquerie of the military homage to Trump on June 14 and by preventing passage of the reconciliation bill.

Hundreds of thousands of men and women gave their lives so that we could live in a democracy free of dictators and kings, supported by a government that placed the safety, health, and security of its citizens above all else.

Greetings, you all may call me Mod Nova, thank you for stopping by my humble corner here in the infinite vastness of the internet.

I'm an introverted, mildly socially awkward young adult aspiring to make it in the music/voice acting industry. I have way too many hyperfixations for my own good and my ADHD makes me rely on music to do literally anything. Budding competitive fighting game, Pokemon, and first person shooter player. Drummer since 2 years old and wanting to learn guitar as well. I have zero idea what the hell I'm doing. Might as well write some HCs and shit while I'm here. Some rules first tho.

-Posts that aren't requests will be tagged with #nova's ramblings. If you don't wish to see any of that feel free to block the tag.

-No NSFW. I am 18+ and I can read NSFW just fine but I'm not too comfortable or confident in writing it. NSFW talk in general is allowed though. Posts will be tagged appropriately, feel free to block tag as needed.

Lilia's Birthday Bash

Happy New Year! I hope 2024 went well and I wish everyone an even better 2025.

Lilia has lost count of how old he is, and he doesn’t really find value in having birthdays.  When he was younger he enjoyed celebrating with friends, but now he thinks it's kind of pointless to celebrate another year of life when he has lived so many.  Malleus, Sebek, and Silver will obey Lilia’s wishes and not make a big deal of the day.  They all may try to make his day easier by offering to cook or take care of dorm chores, but they all also give Lilia a small gift.

Malleus would probably gift Lilia a new book he has been reading that he thought his caretaker would like, Sebek has an ongoing tradition where he challenges Lilia to a duel to see if he can finally beat his mentor, and Silver probably crafts a small item for Lilia (depending on what has interested him throughout the year, Silver has gifted Lilia many knitted, crocheted, and sewed items).

After a small breakfast with his family, Silver will carry on with his day, going to school and enjoying time with his friends.  Most of his classmates might not be aware of Lilia’s birthday, but it’s only because they don’t know when it is.  They only find out because Sebek or Malleus might let it accidentally slip out.

At school, you overhear from a few classmates that today is Lilia’s birthday so you manage to track down Malleus to plan a surprise party for the Vice-Housewarden.  Malleus jumps at the opportunity, excited to switch things up this year for his closest friend.  The two of you will disappear for most of the day, joining forces with Sebek and Silver while trying to avoid Lilia’s watchful gaze.

Of course Lilia gets a bit suspicious when he sees you whispering with his friends, and you guys were almost caught a few times when he suddenly appeared or floated above your group.  He’ll give you a sly smirk, asking what you guys are up to, but every time you return his smile and quickly come up with a believable excuse.

In the end, all four of you have to take turns distracting Lilia and steering him away from the dorm.  When it comes to you, you decide to sit under a tree and ask Lilia about his past.  Since he feels comfortable around you, he’ll let you lay your head in his lap as he plays with your hair and tells you stories about the battles he has fought.  He’ll gaze up at the sky, watching the clouds as he mindlessly twirls your hair in hands, using his words to paint the war.  He’ll spare you the gory details and all the horrors he had to commit, but at the end of his tale, he’ll sit in silence and wait for your reaction.  He doesn’t expect you to grab his hand that is tangled in your hair before kissing his knuckles.  Although no words are exchanged, he knows that you don’t judge him and that you’re just happy that he can tell you all this calmly.

The both of you spend the rest of the afternoon exchanging stories about your lives, laughing and crying together as you strengthen the bond between you two.  You’re only shaken back to reality when your phone pings and you quickly check your text to see that Malleus has messaged you that the surprise party has all been set up.

Lilia will try to peek over to see the message, but you’ll hold your phone close to your chest and smile up at him.  You sit up and tell him that you have a surprise for him back at the dorm which gets him quite interested as he quickly stands and tries to race you back to his dorm.

When he inevitably beats you, he pushes the doors open with glee as you trail behind him.  He looks confused when he is greeted by darkness, but his frown grows into a smile when his friends jump out as the lights blink on.  He’s so calm that he must have anticipated the surprise, but Lilia is actually pleasantly startled that everyone spent the time to put this little party together.  The five of you move to the decorated living room to be a bit more secluded and Lilia is more than happy to spend some family time with you guys.  The others had prepared some snacks and drinks while you were resting with Lilia, and the group played some games to pass the time.

Lilia gets really competitive when playing the games, and the others might be lenient and let him win on purpose a few times since it’s his birthday and all.  After playing a few games, everyone will sing Lilia “Happy Birthday” before dividing the cake and lounging around the room to enjoy the sweet.  When all of the small cake is eaten by a very energetic and willing Lilia, you present your gift to him.

Lilia will pout, saying that you didn’t have to give him anything, but he’s very grateful as he opens your gift.  You’d probably give him a gift similar to Malleus’ or Silver’s.  You either present him with one of your favorite books, one that you know he hasn’t read before but one that you think he’ll definitely enjoy, or a handmade object like a small keychain or an article of clothing.  Whatever it is, Lilia is so in awe, tracing his fingers over the object, amazed by human creativity.

Lilia will stay close to your side throughout the rest of the night, asking you to read the book with him or asking you to show him how you made the gift.  When it’s finally time for you to return to your own dorm, he’ll give you a hug and a quick pat on the head before sending you on your way.  Lilia will follow you back to your dorm, hidden in the shadows to ensure you get back safely before returning to his own dorm.

Lilia will check in on his family, finding Sebek and Silver sleeping peacefully while Malleus is still up reading a book, before retiring to his own bedroom.  He’ll change into his pajamas and tuck himself into the warm covers, thinking about the wonderful birthday he had today.  Lilia will glance over at your gift that he placed on his bedside table before drifting off to a peaceful slumber contemplating how he plans to spend his future years with you by his side.

All Might's Birthday Bash

A series of prompts for June 1st through June 10th - All Might's Birthday. This birthday bash was created by @dogwaterdish and you can find the original post and list here.

I took these prompts and used them to create a 10 part story. Not 10 chapters, these are pretty short, but one cohesive story. Toshinori POV, multiple, if brief, other character appearances. Gen fic. I'll post a part a day for the next 8 days. Happy Birthday, sunflower man!

It wasn’t just questionably creepy fans who knew All Might’s birthday was in June. Much like the name Yagi Toshinori, All Might’s exact birthday had always been prioritized as a secret. Over the time he’d been #1 hero, his agency PR team had agreed that releasing the month of All Might’s birth and his Zodiac sign of Gemini would be a boon for the adoring public. It made June a more hectic than usual month for politicians, big corporations, and the media all demanding his attention for various published birthday parties.

The PR department may have deemed it good, but Toshinori loathed those June engagements.

All Might’s unexpected coming out, so to speak, at Kamino Ward had not put a damper on those publicized invites. PR department be damned, Toshinori had no interest in joining any of them and being expected to smile while be forced to eat cake that would give him nothing but digestive troubles for the rest of the day. No, he was using the barrier UA provided as a respite this year. He knew any of those birthday events would inevitably devolve into interviews about the current sate of his physical self. The state of Japan. How it was all his fault.

Toshinori had given more interviews than was healthy in the weeks after Kamino. If he decided to hole himself up behind UA’s walls right now, that was his prerogative.

Why Toshinori thought that meant he would get away without any birthday celebrations at all even he couldn’t answer. It did mean he was in fact surprised to walk into the teachers office one fine June morning to see balloons taped to his desk and streamers trailing from his chair.

Before anyone else noticed he was there, Shota was striding up to him. The man had a mixed box of tea in his hands, unwrapped, a bow stuck to the top. He pushed it into Toshinori’s hands and paused long enough to say, “Happy Birthday, Yagi. I’d stay, but the problem class needs their babysitter.”

Toshinori managed a, “Thank you?” even as Shota continued his even strides out the door.

It wasn’t his birthday. Toshinori’s birthday wasn’t for another eight days. Then again, only two people on staff at UA knew that. Not including Toshinori himself. Both of them were stood chatting by what was clearly set up as a snack table with more balloons taped to that. Nezu and Chiyo both smiled cheekily back at him and waved.

That was about when Hizashi realized he was there and belted out in almost perfect English, “Happy Birthday, All Might!”

There were happy birthday wishes from multiple members of the staff then. Also many gifts of tea. Toshinori had to laugh about it. Ectoplasam patted him on the shoulder. “Happy Birthday. We consulted with Chiyo and the internet when making treats for you today. We’d usually have someone make or bring a cake, but we wanted you to enjoy it too. I can recommend the coconut granola crunch.”

While it came as a surprise, Toshinori had to admit this was probably the nicest and most low-key birthday party he had had in years. This one he could enjoy instead of suffering through.
