I'm endlessly fascinated by the CDTV, an Amiga system that I didn't even know existed until well after the CD32 had come and gone. I had no idea that so many CD32 games were just repackaged CDTV titles (Lemmings in particular - oof, Psygnosis didn't even try with that one, huh).
I've still never seen one in the wild, and chances are I never will. But look at that keyboard! It's gorgeous.

A game I feel that more people played on the Sega CD, though I also know this game originated on the FM Towns. It also saw a port to the Commodore Amiga CDTV and various computers. You get three cases to solve: The Mummy's Curse, The Mystified Murderess, and The Tin Soldier. Starring Peter Farley as Sherlock Holmes, and Warren Green as Dr. John Watson (Norio Wakamoto and Masao Imanishi in the Japanese versions), this is the kind of game that requires patience and concentration, if only to keep track of all the names being bantered about. Personally, I think Sega America greatly overestimated its target audience when they included this (well the Sega CD version) as the Sega CD pack-in game, at least in America. I found the stories to be quite entertaining though your mileage may vary depending on whether you are a fan of this content. I personally feel that the PC Engine's FMV quality is nicer than the FMV quality from the Sega CD version as a result of it boasting quite some more color. My copy came with a poster offer from the US version.

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
#retrocomputingmx #MAXIS #SimCity
