Tag Nomination Instructions
To nominate tags, you need an AO3 account, so request an invite if you haven't done so already! Tag nominations will open May 29, with the Discord server, and will remain open until June 12.
Tag nominations will determine what relationships and fairy tales are included in the exchange. These will be the ONLY ones included, so you want to nominate tags, especially if you have niche taste!
With that said, please:
Only nominate if you want to participate.
Join the Discord server before nominating, and put your AO3 username in your Discord nickname so I know who you are.
Only nominate things you want to offer or request (so don't nominate something just because you think it should be included).
Tutorial below the cut!
Nominating Relationships
Go the tag set on AO3. Here, you can see what has already been nominated.
Click "Nominate" in the upper right.
If you use pseuds, select the pseud you will be participating in the exchange under. If you don't use pseuds, you can ignore this.
Tumblr media
Okay, now you're going to start nominating! I'm going to start by nominating Sophie/Fitz. The slash means that this is the romantic ship between these characters. That's an important distinction!
Tumblr media
Next, I'm going to nominate Sophie & Fitz, which is the platonic form of the pairing. I want to offer both dynamics, so I need to nominate both!
Tumblr media
Just like that, I'm going to continue down the line, entering all of the relationships I want to nominate.
Tumblr media
Until... oops! I've hit a pairing that doesn't have a canon tag. I want to nominate Sophie & Silveny, but it's not an option in the dropdown. So, I'm going to need to make them a tag.
Tumblr media
The proper way to do it is:
Characters alphabetical by last name. Silveny doesn't have a last name, so I'll just use "Silveny," but I'll use "Foster" for Sophie. So Sophie Foster will go first!
Using the correct relationship indicator (& or /). In this case, an ampersand (&) for platonic!
And since I'm creating a tag, I need to put the fandom in the second box.
So my nomination will look like this:
Tumblr media
Another useful thing to know is that you can nominate tags with more than two characters. If I have an idea that really focuses on Sophie, Edaline, and Grady, I can nominate them as a trio!
Tumblr media
You can technically put even more characters than that, but I wouldn't recommend it, since that makes it harder to match with someone.
So with all that knowledge under my belt, I'm going to finish my relationship nominations! I'm going to nominate a full 10, since I have lots of ideas, but you can do fewer than that. My finished relationship nominations look like this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And now I can nominate the fairy tales I want to include!
Nominating Fairy Tales
Time to nominate the fairy tales that will be used for AUs in the event!
For this, we will not be using the dropdown. You are going to enter the name of the fairy tale manually, with "AU" at the end.
If it is an oral tradition or legend, and you don't care which version, you can just put the common name: Cinderella AU
If you are nominating a specific book, include the author name in parenthesis after the title: Ella Enchanted (Gail Carson Levine) AU
If you are nominating a specific movie, include the year in parenthesis after the title: Cinderella (1950) AU
If you are nominating a specific play or musical, include the year it premiered and the type: Cinderella (2013 musical) AU
Remember, though—just like with nominating relationships, if you're too specific, you might not match with anyone. So keep that in mind!
My finished nominations look like this:
Tumblr media
I have two specific ones, because I couldn't resist, and because they're pretty different from their original fairy tales!
And that's all! You can hit "Submit," and we moderators will take care of the rest of the work!

Week 3: Chapter 2 + Logotype - 1/26/24
It was interesting to read about the technical terms for the anatomy of type in Chapter 2. I learned a lot of these names and concepts in Typographic Design I, but that was my first brush with a lot of these technical words. I have a hard time remembering a lot of the specific words for parts of type, so it was good to refresh my memory and learn some new things as well. I found it neat to read about the impact of writing and writing tools on typographic anatomy; I also thought it was cool that the ampersand came from French et as a ligature, because I’ve never realized that or thought about it. I have also wondered about the difference between book and normal in a typeface, but it makes sense that they refer to the same font, just differently named.
I really enjoyed working on the logotype sketches for this week. It was a bit hard to come up with a lot of variations on the ideas, but I found that once I got working it became easier to get in a groove and explore a lot of unique concepts. I worked with a lot of ideas; I wanted to play with the word “heat,” so many of my designs were inspired by fire or melting. It was cool getting to apply the kind of stuff we watched in video tutorials last week, such as how to make certain letters unique, or how to create unity and flow in the overall designs of the logotype. Keeping all those techniques in mind through the design process was a big help, and I'm looking forward to narrowing down my designs for the final logo.

I managed to fix the RSS issue! Turns out you're not allowed to use ampersands in feeds.
Also changed from .txt to .xml, because the one neocities tutorial i used was lying to me about file type, even if .txt technically works.
If you're using the feed, simply change .txt to .xml in the feed's url in your feed reader. That is all.
to anyone using the rss feed - has it also not been updating to everybody else?
I'm subscripted to it just to check whether it updates or not, but whether i update the feed from github or directly from neocities, entries since isabeau end talks haven't shown up.

Sassy CSS - Parte 2
Tumblr media

Master NumPy Library for Data Analysis in Python in 10 Minutes
Learn and Become a Master of one of the most used Python tools for Data Analysis.
Tumblr media
Introduction:-
NumPy is a python library used for working with arrays. It also has functions for working in domain of linear algebra, fourier transform, and matrices. It is an open source project and you can use it freely. NumPy stands for Numerical Python.
NumPy — Ndarray Object
The most important object defined in NumPy is an N-dimensional array type called ndarray. It describes the collection of items of the same type. Items in the collection can be accessed using a zero-based index.Every item in an ndarray takes the same size of block in the memory.
Each element in ndarray is an object of data-type object (called dtype).Any item extracted from ndarray object (by slicing) is represented by a Python object of one of array scalar types.
The following diagram shows a relationship between ndarray, data type object (dtype) and array scalar type −
Tumblr media
It creates an ndarray from any object exposing array interface, or from any method that returns an array.
numpy.array(object, dtype = None, copy = True, order = None, subok = False, ndmin = 0)
The above constructor takes the following parameters −
Object :- Any object exposing the array interface method returns an array, or any (nested) sequence.
Dtype : — Desired data type of array, optional.
Copy :- Optional. By default (true), the object is copied.
Order :- C (row major) or F (column major) or A (any) (default).
Subok :- By default, returned array forced to be a base class array. If true, sub-classes passed through.
ndmin :- Specifies minimum dimensions of resultant array.
Operations on Numpy Array
In this blog, we’ll walk through using NumPy to analyze data on wine quality. The data contains information on various attributes of wines, such as pH and fixed acidity, along with a quality score between 0 and 10 for each wine. The quality score is the average of at least 3 human taste testers. As we learn how to work with NumPy, we’ll try to figure out more about the perceived quality of wine.
The data was downloaded from the winequality-red.csv, and is available here. file, which we’ll be using throughout this tutorial:
Lists Of Lists for CSV Data
Before using NumPy, we’ll first try to work with the data using Python and the csv package. We can read in the file using the csv.reader object, which will allow us to read in and split up all the content from the ssv file.
In the below code, we:
Import the csv library.
Open the winequality-red.csv file.
With the file open, create a new csv.reader object.
Pass in the keyword argument delimiter=";" to make sure that the records are split up on the semicolon character instead of the default comma character.
Call the list type to get all the rows from the file.
Assign the result to wines.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We can check the number of rows and columns in our data using the shape property of NumPy arrays:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Indexing NumPy Arrays
Let’s select the element at row 3 and column 4. In the below code, we pass in the index 2 as the row index, and the index 3 as the column index. This retrieves the value from the fourth column of the third row:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
1-Dimensional NumPy Arrays
So far, we’ve worked with 2-dimensional arrays, such as wines. However, NumPy is a package for working with multidimensional arrays. One of the most common types of multidimensional arrays is the 1-dimensional array, or vector.
1.Just like a list of lists is analogous to a 2-dimensional array, a single list is analogous to a 1-dimensional array. If we slice wines and only retrieve the third row, we get a 1-dimensional array:
2. We can retrieve individual elements from third_wine using a single index. The below code will display the second item in third_wine:
3. Most NumPy functions that we’ve worked with, such as numpy.random.rand, can be used with multidimensional arrays. Here’s how we’d use numpy.random.rand to generate a random vector:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After successfully reading our dataset and learning about List, Indexing, & 1D array in NumPy we can start performing the operation on it.
The first element of each row is the fixed acidity, the second is the volatile ,acidity, and so on. We can find the average quality of the wines. The below code will:
Extract the last element from each row after the header row.
Convert each extracted element to a float.
Assign all the extracted elements to the list qualities.
Divide the sum of all the elements in qualities by the total number of elements in qualities to the get the mean.
NumPy Array Methods
In addition to the common mathematical operations, NumPy also has several methods that you can use for more complex calculations on arrays. An example of this is the numpy.ndarray.sum method. This finds the sum of all the elements in an array by default:
2. Sum of alcohol content in all sample red wines
Tumblr media Tumblr media
NumPy Array Comparisons
We get a Boolean array that tells us which of the wines have a quality rating greater than 5. We can do something similar with the other operators. For instance, we can see if any wines have a quality rating equal to 10:
3. select wines having pH content > 5
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Subsetting
We select only the rows where high_Quality contains a True value, and all of the columns. This subsetting makes it simple to filter arrays for certain criteria. For example, we can look for wines with a lot of alcohol and high quality. In order to specify multiple conditions, we have to place each condition in parentheses, and separate conditions with an ampersand (&):
4. Select only wines where sulphates >10 and alcohol >7
Tumblr media Tumblr media
5. select wine having pH greater than mean pH
Tumblr media
We have seen what NumPy is, and some of its most basic uses. In the following posts we will see more complex functionalities and dig deeper into the workings of this fantastic library!
To check it out follow me on tumblr, and stay tuned!
That is all, I hope you liked the post. Feel Free to follow me on tumblr
Also, you can take a look at my other posts on Data Science and Machine Learning here. Have a good read!

Journal #1
Module 1: Introduction to C
-How’s my experience?
Transitioning from Python to C programming was like returning home after a ten-year length of the trip. It feels so familiar yet so different. Numerous commands are fundamentally different from python but provide similar functionality. Thus, a well-composed introduction is vital in guiding us to the journey of C programming, especially for people like me who have little to no background education with regards, particularly to C programming language. Which in this case, was excellently provided by our professors utilizing lecture handouts, tutorial videos, lecture slides, and most importantly, lab exercises like the ’BMI Calculator’ which we will be investigating more in the latter part of this journal.
-What Have I learned?
Our initial activity is to develop a Body  Mass Index or BMI Calculator that, just like its name, calculates the BMI of  the user making use of their entered weight and height either in the form of  Kilograms (kg) and Centimeters (cm) or Pounds (lb) and Feet (ft). Utilizing  the provided materials, I was able to successfully develop it within a day  with proper effort. To summarize it all, I have learned the basics of C programming, namely the use of conditional statements, switch statements, loops, and other preliminaries like the format and organization of codes, do’s and don’ts, and numerous more essentials in C programming. Initially, I am also able to learn how to install, update, and utilize Ubuntu WSL in running our codes. Overall, I successfully applied all the knowledge we have gathered in our entire course for module 1 to our first-ever hands-on exercise.
-Problems and Difficulties?
Of course, this does not come without encountering any single drawback. Although there are no major struggles that keep me from finishing my activity, the single thing that I consider to give me the most trouble is in the technicalities of my codes.  As I have mentioned before, we are currently in between the transition from Python to C programming language. At some point in time, I unconsciously omit mistakes in my code treating its syntax like Python instead of C. For example, in Python, you are able to directly create a conditional statement with three variables in comparison like ‘1.5 < n < 2.5’. In contrast, C requires you to create two separate conditions in the same branch with the conjunction of two ampersands ‘&&’ in between them. Thus, instead of inputting the earlier condition I have mentioned, I instead need to format it like this: ‘1.5 < n && n < 2.5’. See the image below. Aside from that, other minor struggles I have is in locating the directory of my created directory using Ubuntu.
-How did I solve it?
The most effective method I found in solving these types of problems is going back, and repeatedly studying and keeping pointers about the foundations of C programming, especially the introductory part. Basically, learning it by heart. The recorded sessions of Professor Arian together with the playlist tutorial videos of Sir Koy massively assisted us in accomplishing our task while learning the basics of C programming. I likewise browse through the internet for some additional information that are supplementary on our current topic. With that, I was able to develop a fully functional BMI calculator complying with every given instruction and abiding towards the objectives and goals of our module 1 lab exercise.
-Conclusion
Overall, I can say that the first given exercise serves very well its purpose of introducing us to C programming with very comprehensive use of the learning materials provided, which likewise did an excellent job in educating us regarding our current topic. I would recommend practicing this specific programming exercise for anyone that is looking forward to engaging in C programming for the very first time as it teaches us the very foundation of the more complex and structured programming language in future discussions and practices for C. I am looking forward for more in the following weeks ahead!

Sailor Moon Review Event - Day 2
So behind on this, @sailormoonreviewevent! Going to start with Day 2, and circle back to my rec list later, since that list will indeed be long and mighty *cracks knuckles* - and in repentance for my delinquency, my Day 2 is going to cover more than one fic (because oh, there are many) that hasn’t let me go, even years after reading. There are also a few that others have written up, like On Razor’s Edge by LovelyLytton, that would totally qualify, but let me see if I can cover some new ground here. Most of these are Senshi/Shitennou unless otherwise noted, since that’s the playground I tend to stomp around in.
Day Two - Nov 24th | Write a review for that one story you keep remembering, that doesn’t let you go.
The Crys-T Series by @charliechaplin2blr
This series makes me ache, in the best way possible. Charlie has a way of getting to you with her dialogue; it’s real and raw, and the characters are flawed and believable. I love that this Crystal Tokyo is neither a utopia nor an apocalypse; rather, it’s a smart, nuanced portrayal of what it might actually be like to live forever, and the toll that can take. Some of my favorite work from Charlie, and I love everything this woman does!
Tempus Fugit by @caffeineivore
Such beautiful, dreamy writing and I love how each of the Shitennou is given such a clear, defined background that’s shown to shape them into who they become. Oh, and it doubles as travel porn, too, which never hurts.
The Other Side of Dark by @commas-and-ampersands
The definitive post-apocalyptic Crystal Tokyo scenario, methinks. The darkness and desperation in this one is hard to forget. And Minako is so beautifully characterized here, hardened by her fate and those of the girls and her Princess and Prince, but ultimately still (with a last tiny shred of Sailor V’s optimism) clinging to hope. The end will make you gasp (and hurt).
Vespers by Melete
I wouldn’t consider myself anything close to an Ami/Mamoru shipper, but this fic is so beautifully, hauntingly written that I find myself still coming back to it for inspiration - it’s like poetry. I won’t spoil the story of how Ami and Mamoru fall for each other and where that love goes, but know that it’s done so naturally and in-character, and like many of the other fics on this list, the end will make you both smile and cry. It’s bittersweet and ephemeral and I love it.
Duende by Ame Yumeko
An oldie but goodie with my favorite couple. Gorgeously descriptive writing in this brief vignette that makes you wonder what might have been in a lifetime somewhere between the Silver Millennium and the modern age.
Playing Dress Up by @luna-whiskers
I love all the Senshi/Shitennou ships dearly, but this is the fic that made me sit up and say “I GET IT!!!” once and for all when it comes to the Ami/Zoi dynamic. Tenderly characterized and perfect pacing; also, her portrayal of Ami and Sasha make them completely unforgettable characters in their own right, characters you want to read more about even if they’re not your ship or even in a relationship at all. I would happily read Sasha’s biography (and grocery list, and watch his makeup tutorials on YouTube because I know he has them) if you gave it to me, @luna-whiskers!

Video Transcript for the above video:
In this video let’s see how you can update Ubuntu via the command line so I’m just going to open up terminal
And you’ll just type this command and that will update your Ubuntu. So you can just do this to update. This will first of all check for the update and then this will run all the upgrades that need to happen.
So this is just to combine two commands . You can even run this first and run this after this one but if you want to run them in one line you just connect them using this ampersand . two ampersands .
If you want the updates not to ask you to confirm the updates when there are any updates, you can just add -y . so after upgrade you can do -y .
And here as well you can do -y . And it’s going to check if there are any updates. okay . so that’s it , you can see my system is updated so if you want to run your updates in one line just do that. just take that sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade -y .
That’s it for this video
