Hell High (Real Trouble, 1989)
"Let's get out of here while we still can."
"No."
"You're pushing our luck. She's had enough!"
"I said I'm gonna finish it."
"It's no good, man!"
"What do you owe her?"
"Look, there are limits. There are certain laws we can't break. This is real trouble, real jail. Our future!"

Do you have a list of good sex ed books to read?
BOY DO I
please bear in mind that some of these books are a little old (10+ years) by research standards now, and that even the newer ones are all flawed in some way. the thing about research on human beings, and especially research on something as nebulous and huge as sex, is that people are Always going to miss something or fail to account for every possible experience, and that's just something that we have to accept in good faith. I think all of these books have something interesting to say, but that doesn't mean any of them are the only book you'll ever need.
related to that: it's been A While since I've read some of these so sorry if anything in them has aged poorly (I don't THINK SO but like, I was not as discerning a reader when I was 19) but I am still including them as books that have been important to my personal journey as a sex educator.
additionally, a caveat that very few of these books are, like, instructional sex ed books in the sense of like "here's how the penis works, here's where the clit is, etc." those books exist and they're great but they're also not very interesting to me; my studies on sex are much more in the social aspect (shout out to my sociology degree) and the way people learn to think about sex and societal factors that shape those trends. these books reflect that. I would genuinely love to have the time to check out some 101 books to see how they fare, but alas - sex ed is not my day job and I don't have the time to dedicate to that, so it happens slowly when it happens at all. I've been meaning to read Dr. Gunter's Vagina Bible since it came out in 2019, for fucks sake.
and finally an acknowledgement that this is a fairly white list, which has as much to do with biases with academia and publishing as my own unchecked biases especially early in my academic career and the limitations of my university library.
ANYWAY here's some books about sex that have been influential/informative to me in one way or another:
The Trouble With Normal: Sex, Politics, and the Ethics of Queer Life (Michael Warner, 1999)
Virginity Lost: An Intimate Portrait of First Sexual Experiences (Laura M. Carpenter, 2005)

Bonk: The Curious Coupling of Science and Sex (Mary Roach, 2008)
Transgender History: The Roots of Today's Revolution (Revised Edition) (Susan Stryker, 2008)
The Purity Myth: How America's Obsession with Virginity is Hurting Young Women (Jessica Valenti, 2009)
Not Under My Roof: Parents, Teens, and the Culture of Sex (Amy T. Schalet, 2011)
Straight: The Surprisingly Short History of Heterosexuality (Hanne Blank, 2012)
Rewriting the Rules: An Integrative Guide to Love, Sex and Relationships (Meg-John Barker, 2013)
The Sex Myth: The Gap Between Our Fantasies and Realities (Rachel Hills, 2015)

GLSDB-ről van szó! @hochfunf @kgyst
Már novemberben írta a sajtó, hogy ha beindítják a "gyártását", akkor indulhat a szállítása Ukrajnába. Mondjuk a tavaszt ezzel is kell várni.
Mi a GLSDB?

vintage bridal fashion: 1978
i love how many 70s wedding dresses feel turn of the century and edwardian. the hats help.
princess caroline of monaco in christian dior by marc bohan: this is a typically disliked royal wedding look, which of course means i love it. people call the length awkward because the hem doesn’t touch the ground but i actually like the interesting shape of the skirt, you don’t see skirts like that very often.
she changed into a different dress for the reception and wore her mother’s diamond tiara. it’s kind of a boho eliza doolittle moment.
french television personality denise fabre, 1978. i love to see fur.
this dress!!! worn by andrea de portago.
german actress margot werner. color! the skirt has a beautiful leafy lace overlay.
a portrayed wedding dress: amy stryker in a wedding (1978). designed by j. allen highfill. beautiful veil.
meryl streep as a bridesmaid in the deer hunter (1978). designed by eric seelig.
katharine barker in emmerdale farm (1978). i love the little jacket.
past doing the past (1970s does 1890s): marie osmond in the gift of love (1978). designed by sandra stuart. those are baroque pearls hanging off the skirt...

Because they're literally appropriating and forcefully changing the meaning of our own identity and when we refute having our identity taken from us we're called bigots and told we're wrong?
What if I started telling everyone I was black, huh? I'm not. I'm white. But if I feel black that's fine according to you. Because identity is "complicated" and it doesn't matter if what I'm doing is literally harming other people.
Lesbianism and gayness are mono-identities. That's it.
“The label "bi lesbian" originated in the 1970s as a result of the effects of lesbian separatism, a belief within some strains of lesbian feminism and often within radical feminism which advocates for separating women from men in as many ways as possible as a strategy to achieve women's liberation.[1] Subsequently, this lead to lesbian separatists rejecting and often discriminating against women who refused to withdraw from their involvement with men, particularly bisexual women. Lesbian separatists accused bisexual women of "sleeping with the enemy" and forcefully removed them from lesbian spaces and from claiming the lesbian identity for themselves, by redefining it as "a homosexual female/woman" or "a woman who does not sleep with men/is not attracted to men". It is because of lesbian separatism that the bisexual label became very popular starting in the 1970s, as the word to describe a woman who was attracted to other women before was "lesbian", whether they were attracted exclusively or not, and now that had suddenly changed” (LGBTA Wiki).
“What is a Lesbian? To me, a lesbian is a woman-oriented woman; bisexuals can be lesbians...” (Lavender Woman, Volume 2, Issue 5, August 1973)
"Unfortunately, many of my experiences as a lesbian-identified bisexual woman have said to me that having an appearance or demeanor that diverges from the expected means I will not be accepted as truly belonging in the lesbian community” (Amy Wyeth, "Don't Assume Anything", Bi Women Vol. 13, No. 4, Aug-Sep 1995)
So what does all of this sum up? Bi lesbians have existed in history for a long time. There’s many documented instances of them, there’s signs from people at pride parades that mention them. Nobody is “forcefully changing the meaning” of lesbianism. However, as always, TERF bullshit (radical feminism) seeps its way into the lesbian community. In fact, queer spaces tended to be more broad and accepting throughout history. Recently, we have focused more on shuffling people into their exact labels and complaining if we think they stray from it. I recommend reading Transgender History by Susan Stryker. I think Stone Butch Blues by Leslie Feinberg and things written by Alison Bechdel are also really good reads if you want to learn more about queer history. Normally I would delete the stupid anons I get, but I thought it was a good reason to show some more resources about queer history and bi lesbianism in particular. And let me repeat it. The label someone chooses to use is none of your business and does not affect you.

Thank you for posting those excerpts from Amy fox's piece. There's not much writing about butch trans women around and it means a lot
there's tons, just gotta find it or write it! Amy made a tv show for pete's sake, and Susan Stryker has been doing her history work for ages. There's trans butches everywhere and they are a prolific bunch.

At the outset, grandmother Lillian Gish lies in her bed too ill to attend the wedding but giving last minute instructions to wedding reception coordinator Geraldine Chaplin. Then we see a bit of the wedding ceremony. Half-senile John Cromwell, who has been coaxed out of retirement by friend Gish, is stumbling through the service as the groom, Desi Arnaz, Jr., is becoming one with bride Amy Stryker, who still wears her retainers.
The groom’s mother, Nina Van Pallandt, Gish’s daughter, is a glamorous woman who is married to an Italian of mysterious origin which will be revealed later on. He is portrayed by the superlative Vittorio Gassman. Her sisters are the very regal Dina Merrill, strangely paired with Pat McCormick, who plays an art collector; and Virginia Vestoff, who is conducting an affair with Miss Gish’s black butler, Cedric Scott.
