The Unknown Queen of Egypt

Archeologists discovered a tomb of a woman who was buried among the great pyramids of the Old Kingdom of Egypt. They found some inscriptions inside her tomb calling her "The Wife of the King" and "the Mother of the King".

When this woman was alive 4500 years ago, she would have been one of the most important people on the planet with a greater power than any other woman in the nation. Surprisingly, nobody actually has any idea who she is.

The Kaunos Rock Tombs of the Kings of Ancient Anatolia. The tombs are best seen from the river for the full effect but the site of ancient Kaunos can be visited too. The river ride is well worth it - it’s beautiful, lush and the tranquil (and the route to one of the best beaches on the planet!). The nearby village of Dalyan is super affordable and offers a variety of accommodation. It’s close to these ancient sites, mud baths as well as being a short boat trip to the boat-only accessible beach - the magnificent Iztuzu beach and turtle sanctuary. From 2019 Sept 05 - Valley of the Kings Me with Ramses III. I was just hanging out with him the other day at his temple in Karnak. . . . The Screaming Man. Ramses' mummy was found in the stash of mummies at Dier El Bahari. But there was another body with his and it was not embalmed. It was a man that looked to have died in agony. There was indication that the man's wrists and ankles were bound. The internal organs and brains were not removed as was the usual practice in the mummification process. Also, the corpse was wrapped in a simple sheepskin which is pretty shabby when it comes to traveling to the next life. As it turns out, with DNA testing, this horribly kept body had a filial connection to Ramses III.
