So! I offer up ‘the ultimate music list’, something I started doing on YouTube last year. Maybe earlier. It’s a living list, it will never be complete.

1. Your first OC ever?
...Hmm, I suppose that would be Elias, Tristan and Isolde Bishop from my Living off the Land. On tumblr thought - It was Priscilla Hendersen.
2. Do you have a personal favourite among your OCs?
...Bennette - I’ve given her a lot of my own personality as well as used my own personal experiences in some form for her backstory and things she’s experienced as a parent.
3. Have you ever adopted a character or gotten a character from someone else?
...Yes! Braylie was my first actual adoption. I had to apply as my sims and wait for two other simmers to be interested in her and then have the simmers behind the scenes chose who would be her forever home. The Bartolini’s were chosen for her. My second adoption was Ariana and Bennette and Theron adopted her in a similar fashion - I had to write a letter as my OC and the powers that be chose which tiny pixel they thought best suited my sim family.. It was a lot of fun.
The first sim I was ever given, that wasn’t MADE for me - but was already established and given to me was Salem (who I made Memee to pair with him). The second was Theron (who was paired with Bennette in an AU ship).
4. A character you rarely talk about?
...I have a lot of those, lol! Maybe Koa? Just because he’s one I’m still building that backstory for and getting to know. Or Sasha!
9. Would you ever be willing to give any of your OCs to someone else?
...I have already done that, lol. Probably won’t be the last time either.
12. Name an OC that isn’t yours but who you like a lot
...Mathilde, Eisley, Hattie, Juliet, Tobyn, Finn, Doc, Clementine, Skye, Karley, Nikki, Brianna, Sultan, Nyanaath, Sara, Seth, Andromeda, Louie, Tabitha, Nica, Maegan, January, Campbell, baby Jessica, there are so many!
15. Do you like to talk about your OCs with other people?
...I talk about them with my husband, my Mom, 2 of my non sim playing friends, etc. etc.
19. Introduce an OC that means a lot to you (and explain why)
...See #2 lol
23. Introduce OC that has changed from your first idea concerning what the character would be like?
...Hmmmm...... idk. I guess, Freeman. He was made purely to counter the bad teen dad stigma, but also to collab with a friend who was gettin left out of stuff and I wanted them to feel included etc. He definitely was never meant to go on from a single Dad to having 5 kids, married, homeowner and an FBI Agent, lol. After his child turned 5 he was going to move away aka be gone forever.
24. If you could meet one OC of yours, who would it be and why?
...Ooo, that’s a hard one. Hmm, Bennette. Since she is most like myself we’d have a lot of great laughs.
25. The OC that resembles you the most (same hobby, height, shared like/dislike for something etc?)
...Bennette, lol, but also Oona and Yuri. Not to the extent Bennette is - but there are other tid bits in there.
26. Have you ever had to change your OC’s design or something else about them against your will?
...Yes.
36. Do you have OC pairs where the other part belongs to someone else (siblings, lovers, friends etc)?
...Yep, lol.
43. Do you have any certain type when you create your OCs? Do you tend to favour some certain traits or looks? It’s time to confess
...I favor brown/hazel eyes and well porportioned faces and bodies, however I always try to have diversity when it comes to my sims.
45. A character you no longer use?
...There are also a lot of those, too, lol.
47. Has anyone ever (friendly) claimed any of your OCs as their child?
...A couple, yes, lol.

Foco no aprendizado do dia: 1, 2, 8, 9, 10, 16, 21, 22, 28
Aprecie e comemore: 4, 5, 13, 18, 19, 26, 27
TOURO: ♉
Foco no aprendizado do dia: 4, 5, 12, 18, 24, 25
Aprecie e comemore: 1, 2, 6, 11, 16, 19, 20, 28
Principalmente no amor!
Foco no aprendizado do dia: 6, 7, 19, 20, 21, 27
Aprecie e comemore: 3, 4, 5, 9, 10, 21, 22
Foco no aprendizado do dia: 1, 2, 8, 9, 10, 15, 17, 22, 28
Aprecie e comemore: 6, 7, 11, 12, 18, 24, 25
Principalmente no lado social e amoroso!
Resiliência é a palavra!
Foco no aprendizado do dia: 5, 11, 12, 18, 19, 24, 25
Aprecie e comemore: 4, 8, 9, 10, 13, 22, 26, 27
VIRGEM: ♍
Foco no aprendizado do dia: 6, 7, 13, 14, 19, 20, 26, 27
Aprecie e comemore: 1, 2, 11, 12, 16, 24, 28
LIBRA: ♎
Foco no aprendizado do dia: 1, 2, 9, 10, 15, 16, 22, 28
Aprecie e comemore: 3, 4, 5, 13, 14, 18, 27
Foco no aprendizado do dia: 4, 5, 11, 12, 18, 24, 25
Aprecie e comemore: 6, 7, 10, 11, 15, 16, 19
Foco no aprendizado do dia: 6, 7, 13, 14, 19, 20, 26, 27
Aprecie e comemore: 4, 5, 8, 9, 10, 18, 19
Foco no aprendizado do dia: 1, 2, 9, 10, 15, 16, 17, 22, 28
Aprecie e comemore: 4, 11, 12, 15, 16, 23, 24
Foco no aprendizado do dia: 4, 5, 11, 12, 18, 19, 24
Aprecie e comemore: 9, 10, 13, 14, 21, 22
PEIXES: ♓
Foco no aprendizado do dia: 6, 7, 13, 14, 19, 20, 26, 27
Aprecie e comemore: 11, 12, 15, 16, 24, 25

They fled violence in Nicaragua by the thousands. What awaits them in Costa Rica?
By Joshua Partlow, Washington Post, September 2, 2018
SAN JOSE, Costa Rica--In a tree-shaded downtown plaza, in Central America’s most peaceful nation, few could have predicted the angry mob.
Hundreds of men dressed in red shirts and jerseys marched into La Merced park carrying knives, baseball bats and glass bottles stuffed with gasoline-soaked rags.
Apparently motivated by false and inflammatory online messages, they had come to confront Nicaraguans who had fled their country and turned the park into a base camp, a place to receive free meals and coffee from local churches and charities.
“Get out Nicas!” the crowd chanted, according to videos posted online later. Fights broke out. More than 40 people were arrested, government officials said.
The confrontation that unfolded on that Saturday afternoon last month has shaken a country known as a relative oasis of peace in a tumultuous region where mass migration and gang warfare are common. The arrival of thousands of Nicaraguans in recent months--fleeing President Daniel Ortega’s violent crackdown on protesters--has laid bare undercurrents of xenophobia in Costa Rica and prompted the first major crisis for President Carlos Alvarado, who had just completed 100 days in office.
His administration is investigating whether Ortega’s government, or its supporters on either side of the border, were involved in fanning the anti-immigrant flames.
“Using social media to call people together who were deliberately inciting hate,” Alvarado said in an interview, “this hasn’t happened before.”
Migration caused by political crises and economic collapse has put enormous strain on Latin America. An exodus of more than 2 million Venezuelans has caused upheaval in Colombia, Brazil and Peru, among others. Although Nicaraguans fleeing across the border constitute only a fraction of that number, the increase has worried government officials and is testing Costa Rica’s generous asylum policies.
“We will protect our country in every way, but these acts are not welcome, nor will they be tolerated in any way,” Foreign Minister Epsy Campbell said. “We cannot permit even the smallest space to feed a xenophobic attitude.”
Since April, Ortega’s security forces and armed militias in Nicaragua have attacked protesters in street battles and house-to-house raids. The government crackdown has left more than 350 people dead and has prompted thousands to flee south to Costa Rica.
“The level of persecution is such that many of those who have participated in the protests, defended the rights of the protesters, or simply expressed dissenting opinion, have been forced to hide, have left Nicaragua or are trying to do so,” said a report released this week by the U.N. high commissioner for human rights.
The exact numbers of those who have fled into Costa Rica since the unrest began is unknown because many crossed the border illegally and have not identified themselves to authorities. So far this year, more than 24,400 Nicaraguans have expressed their intention to apply for asylum in Costa Rica, compared with 58 asylum applications from January to August 2017.
But a significant portion of these applicants already lived in Costa Rica and decided to apply for asylum given the upheaval in Nicaragua, immigration officials said. As neighbors with intertwined histories, roughly a half-million Nicaraguans lived in Costa Rica when the conflict in Nicaragua began.
At migration agency offices in the capital, hundreds of Nicaraguans lined the sidewalk earlier this summer, some sleeping in tents for days, waiting to apply for asylum. They receive appointments to come back early next year.
Xochil Soto, a 27-year-old accountant at a Catholic church in Nicaragua, and her boyfriend, Moises Alejandro Silva, a 25-year-old accounting student, applied for jobs at a McDonald’s in San Jose after they fled the unrest at home. But they don’t have work permits as they wait for asylum, so they have been making tacos and burritos to sell on the street.
“We hope to get by, little by little,” Silva said. “We have faith we can survive here.”
Some Nicaraguans spend days loitering in parks and plazas, wearing donated clothes, without homes or work permits. Others bunk where they can, with friends and relatives, in shelters or dingy motels.
Scarleth Osorno, 21, and her husband, Cristhian Rosales, 19, spent their first nights as refugees in San Jose sleeping on the ground under a tree in La Merced park with their 8-month-old daughter.
The couple had given coffee and water to protesters manning barricades in their hometown of Diriamba, the site of one of the deadliest clashes with Nicaraguan paramilitaries. They were later identified as dissidents by government loyalists in their neighborhood, and masked gunmen showed up at their home.
“They were armed to the teeth,” said Rosales, a welder. “When they knocked on the door I ran out the back.”
The family escaped through a ravine, caught a bus for the border and arrived in San Jose in late July. They were at La Merced Park on Aug. 18 when the redshirted mob descended, hurling insults, calling them cowards, demanding that they get out of Costa Rica.
Osorno still came to the park each day, hoping someone might donate food for her baby. She looked around as pedestrians streamed by.
“I’m afraid to even be standing in this spot,” she said. “It’s not safe here, either.”
Costa Rica has become familiar with mass migrations. In recent years, thousands of Haitians and Cubans transiting north toward the United States have gathered in Costa Rica as Nicaragua blocked its border to migrants, prompting government officials to organize airlifts. Venezuelans have migrated in large numbers to escape their country’s economic calamity.
The Nicaraguan community is large and well-established in Costa Rica. Many went into exile, or fled the fighting, during the guerrilla war against the Somoza dictatorship in the 1970s. Among those who fled south were Daniel Ortega, who would later become president. The subsequent Nicaraguan civil war in the 1980s between Ortega’s Sandinista government and President Ronald Reagan’s CIA-backed “contras” pushed thousands more across the border.
The two countries “are like twins, one more rebellious than the other,” said Alejandra Gutierrez, a Costa Rican who married a Nicaraguan, Alfonso Robelo, who was initially a member of the Sandinista ruling junta and then joined the contras and went to war against. “They fight a lot but at the end of the day they often give each other a hand.”
Last month, on websites and Facebook pages, false rumors began spreading that Nicaraguan migrants had been burning Costa Rican flags. Posts spread quickly that Alvarado was giving chunks of the Costa Rican budget over to transgender Nicaraguans and that universities were providing refugees full scholarships.
“There was a lot of fake news immediately before the event,” Alvarado said.
Public Security Minister Michael Soto Rojas said that the presumption is that an “external or internal influence tried to maximize” the protest. Among Nicaraguan refugees, there is widespread belief that Ortega has allies in Costa Rica, surveilling protest leaders who have fled or fomenting disruptions.
Soto said that there is no “conclusive evidence” that Ortega’s government helped organize the protest or has spies on the ground pursuing protesters, “but there’s an expectation that it could occur or is occurring.”
Representatives from Nicaragua’s government did not respond to requests for comment.
Anti-Nicaraguan feeling “is not the popular sentiment,” said Marcela Rodriguez-Farrelly, an official with the U.N. refugee agency in San Jose.
But the Costa Rican government fears that further waves of Nicaraguans could worsen tensions. Already, many Nicaraguans who played an active role in protests are living like fugitives here, some in safe houses, some under government protection. New arrivals say even though they’ve escaped imminent danger in Nicaragua, they remain uneasy.
“I assumed this country was safe,” said Ariana Gutierrez, a medical student who fled. “Now we’re afraid to say we’re Nicaraguans.”

10 songs i can’t get enough of at the moment
thanks for tagging me angie @dontfreakout! i’ve actually been loving a bunch of songs recently so i really wanted to do this lol. if i’d had space, you guys know the whole chuck soundtrack would be here, but i tried to keep it within songs i’m partocularly loving right now.
1: Paradise- George Ezra
I think I’ve mentioned this song here before but I keep hearing depressing breakup songs on the radio and they just make me sad and I’m like, love is happy, we need more happy songs!! This is one of those happy songs, i always always smile when I hear it, I love it so much.
2: Beyond- Leon Bridges
Another happy love song! Heard this the other day, fell for it.
3: Nica Libres at Dusk- Ben Howard
This is my current ultimate chilled out summer jam. Just, listening to this, out in the sun, nothing feels better.
4: Warm On A Cold Night- Honne
I totally blame Karen for this. She put this in her fic months ago and I’m STILL in love with it, even when the nights aren’t even cold anymore, and they were when I first listened to it. So, a curse on you for that, @victorianoir (But I also love it so much I can’t even be mad, tsk)
5: I’m Going To Go Back There Someday- Rachael Yamagata
Yes, it’s that song from The Muppet Movie. But I’m dealing with a lot of achieving-stuff-i’ve-always-wanted-to rn, and this song has always been my soundtrack for that. Never having been somewhere, but knowing the way. So it’s been on repeat in my head a lot of days recently.
6: Breathe- Mandy Gonzalez
See above achieving stuff note. This song calms me down when the freakout in my head gets a little too much, and reminds me to breathe.
7: One For My Baby- Frank Sinatra
Okay, this is not technically a happy song, but it’s never on the radio so I don’t mind listening to it by my own choice, which I often do.
8: No Tears Left To Cry- Ariana Grande
C’mon. It’s a bop.
9: If You’re Over Me- Years & Years
Also a bop.
10: How Far I’ll Go- Auli’i Cravalho
Another song that’s a little like a soundtrack to me. Though Moana and I are dealing with very different situations, I still really relate to this song. Just, being called by something else, trying to get there. Love it.
aaaand i tag @victorianoir since I’ve already mentioned her here lol and @anonymous033 and anyone else who wants to do this and share some tunes!

I know that this won’t change anything but it’s been on my mind lately. My first question is, what is wrong with people? Why are they doing this? When I first paid my attention to terror attack was that one in Paris. I couldn’t believe, I cried and prayed for poor souls that had died. After that I started paying attention to Syria every time that I have heard of those attacks I was sad and angry because people can’t stand up together and defeat ISIS? Instead of that they are yelling at each other who’s fault is this, like can’t they see that yelling and accusing each other doesn’t help? People are still dying, EVERYWHERE now. And I always get so angry when I heard that they have killed children, CHILDREN for god sake, which they didn’t do anything wrong, their whole life was in front of them, but they died too soon. I can’t describe how sorry I feel for them that they couldn’t have normal childhood, like I had.
After Paris was attack in Nica, after Nica Brussels and Berlin, Stockholm, Manchester, London.. and many more.
And I will always accuse attack on Ariana Garnde’s concert. How many beautiful young souls went to her concert with exceintmen, because they would have meet their idol for the first time, this was supposed to be the happiest day of their lives, I can tell how excited I was when I went to my first concert, I was so happy, I had the best time of my life, because I have seen my idols so many happy memories from that day. But what they will really remember? Explosion, many people dead lying on the floor, many more people with hard injuries, losing their loved ones, friends, family members.. i’m terrified, broken and sad because there is nothing that I could to to help. I’m scared that one day I’ll be walking down the street and something will happen, or something will happen to my family or friends.
Please stop this.

Pinoy Akapela in 2017
Vocal group performance has persisted to be a style for the Filipino mainstream audiences to listen to, to watch, and eventually to imitate. It really has been more accessible for aspiring a cappella solo singers and groups to join in the loop, find their own tricks and knacks, and to truly just have fun and share what they have worked on -- may it be by simply arranging covers, sharing them online, or going as far as getting into tireless months of training and rehearsing to compete in local and international competitions. And what has probably generated such a bustling and astounding contemporary a cappella atmosphere in 2017 would be the independent labors of the unceasing up-and-coming groups to further accelerate in honing their craft; and their renown. Filipino morale in contemporary a cappella has just gotten ever lustrous this year.
Here is an overview of some of the milestones achieved by these who have made this 2017 a remarkable one (based on my Manila-based radar, hehe), casting the affirming imprint that contemporary a cappella is also a Filipino thing:
Acapellago’s international and local stardom. The group has gone a long and exciting way, highlighting this 2017 with their First Prize and Audience awards at the Vokal Total 2017 International Festival in Graz, Austria. Beating other groups from Europe, their powerful repertoire includes their own arrangements of Ain’t No Other Man (Christina Aguilera, arr. by Happy), Conga (Gloria Estefan feat. Miami Soundmachine, arr. by Acapellago), Safe and Sound (Taylor Swift, arr. by Josh), and Queen of the Night (Whitney Houston/Lani Misalucha, arr. by Happy)
(photo from Facebook)
The streak continued on with the group producing and launching singles under Viva Records Corporation. Their first single is Peroplano, joined a few months later by some Christmas songs which are now available on Spotify. Performances here and outside the country continued to grow in number, as well as their fans. Always trending with their video posts, Acapellago knows how to keep their music-making active and their audiences entertained, not forgotten. They have given pop and novelty a new (and challenging) style to be enjoyed, giving viewers their fun takes of Titibo-tibo by Moira dela Torre and Pasok mg Suki. The group closes the year with more recognition under their belt given by one of OPM’s sought after award-giving bodies, The Awit Awards: Best Vocal Arrangement for Stars are Aligned with Jimmy Marquez, The People’s Choice Award for Best Group Recording Artist, and the International Citation Award for their accomplishments at the Vokal Total A Cappella Competition in Graz. Awe-inspiring, Acapellago! More power to you, Mitch, Almond, Josh, Bogart, and Happy!
Competitions not only help in finding the finest in the a cappella community, and giving the opportunity for groups to develop their skills. They also, on the surface, give contemporary a cappella an identity to be raved about. COMBI A CAPPELLA BATTLE NATION made this hype big this year, creating this riff-off type of battle ground for the finalists at the Trinoma Mall in Quezon City last October 21. Finalists include previous competition winners like Astrafellas (2016 Akapela Open Champion), ConChords (2016 Akapela Open 1st runner up), GVBS (2016 Akapela Open Finalist), Musikality, Music Beats, and The Playlist, whose some members have joined Akapela Open as well. The brand’s ambassadors Acapellago performed, including 2016′s winner, Phisix (Akapela Open Finalist). Confident and promising when it comes to musicianship and musicality, Jowin, Coleen, Nica, Jec and Val of ConChords, all students from the UP College of Music, took home the badge. They performed their arrangements of You Give Love a Bad Name (Bon Jovi), Greedy (Ariana Grande, arr. by Lancelle Nantes), and a Moana Medley. GVBS came in 2nd, and Astrafellas came in 3rd.

Another competition that featured the current performance practice of popular a cappella singing sans the use of individual microphones would be the MBC National Choral Competition. Aside from their performance of a folk piece and the contest piece (by The CompanY's Moy Ortiz), part of each finalist’s repertoire must contain a “novelty performance” -- that is, having each choir’s own arrangement of a popular song or a medley of songs, complete with choreography, without a conductor in the middle.

The winners for the open category are Coro Obcento (Grand Champion) followed by the Oratory Boys Chorus, Tarlac Chamber Choir, and South Cotabato Chorale. Original tunes such as from the likes of Ricky Martin, Little Mix, Gwen Stefani, and Bon Jovi were heard in the competition, complete with exhilarating dance moves and even acrobatics. Flexibility and gusto in performing various styles of singing are really thrilling to know about our continuously evolving choral community! Mabuhay ang korong Pilipino!
As I mentioned earlier, persistence is such a crucial key when it comes to making a difference, or pursuing another opportunity to having a breakthrough. Pinopela, the Baguio-based group who has been together since the beginning of the Akapela Open Competition in 2013, has continued to make the rounds in performing especially for corporate events. This year has been quite busier for the group, despite some changes in their membership, as they performed for local and foreign delegates in the various events of the ASEAN Summit. Capping off the year is their prestigious win at the Hongkong International A Cappella Contest, leading other performances from Japan, Hongkong, Taiwan, and Mainland China. They bagged 2 awards - Best Presentation and the recognition as the Champion. Their repertoire includes Salute (Little Mix) and a Power Hits Medley which includes, Say You’ll Never Let Me Go, Uptown Funk, Don’t You Worry ‘Bout A Thing, Hey Momma, Salute and Can’t Hold Us. These were arranged by the group’s resident arranger, Ryan Vincent Lamaroza. Congratulations and thank you for your will and courage, Pinopela!

All male group Ten Thousand also went out of the country to compete at the 2017 Incheon Airport International Competition. Thank you for continuously representing the country and spreading our enthusiasm and presence in this field of performance! Just like being promoters of the Ricola brand through this jingle:
https://web.facebook.com/RicolaPhilippines/videos/1012797868860759/
PhiSix, another all-male group which was last year’s winner at the Combi Nation Vocal Battle, bagged the first prize at the 2017 ACaChamps in Singapore held in July. The group was followed in 2nd place by Ten Thousand, who also won Best in Vocal Percussion. Pinoys certainly have begun warming up overseas. Congratulations, guys!
A lot of schools, universities and companies seem to have involved more intensified a cappella singing competitions in their events especially this past Christmas season.
I might have missed out on other events where contemporary a cappella has been highlighted, so please let me know! :D
Here is a wishlist for the coming 2018 from our artists:
all original a cappella album/s
more all a cappella concerts
a local festival and a ‘camp’ of workshops for a cappella groups, arrangers, and composers for educational purposes
a solid organization or society for the community
and more surprises
Thank you to all the groups and individuals for pushing to share your passion for contemporary a cappella music making!
(Nakakamiss!
