This is more of a vent than an ask, I just needed to tell somebody who'd understand my frustration!

The museum where I've been working as curator and collections manager for the past four years has decided to "restructure". Both of the curator/collections manager roles are being eliminated. It's a small museum, there are only the two of us curators.

If qualified, trained people are not in place, the museum's collections are - obviously - at real risk. We hold some really fragile, vulnerable, rare objects. We also have things on loan from people, and if those objects are damaged or neglected while in our care, the owners could very rightfully take legal action.

I'm not even upset at losing my job - this was never going to be my forever - but I am so worried about the objects, the stories, the history and heritage that could be lost without expert care.

I've sent a letter expressing my concerns to every member of the board, and had no response at all. I feel so helpless.

First off, I am so sorry about your job.

I think you did the right thing in writing to the board with your concerns. I really hope that the board acts on them, because it is very worrying that it appears that the collection will have no one caring for it or at least keeping an eye on it, during this "restructuring" process.

definitely has to be my vampire gloves. they’re a pair of really nicely fitting leather gloves with spikes in them. they’re really comfy to wear and incredibly fun to hit someone with. the only downside is that they can’t be 100% sterilised between use so they’re single-sub toys, so eventually i’ll have to get another pair if i want to use them on someone else

I have quite a few doodles and base sketches of Apollo though no full on drawings of him as of yet.. :,) this is just what he looks like on a basic level aha

I'm still workshopping my Artemis design so for now iv just been using a very slightly altered version of the Hades game version of her :) (the drawings both above and below were done by my wonderful twin sibling :) thank you twinnn ehe)

and iv actually drawn Hermes probbably more then any of the other gods but I sadly do not have a set design for him— I'm still figuring that out for now :,) (here are some random drawings from animatics I'm working on or just general old doodles aha)

I haven't read the Odyssey so I'm asking you. Are you telling me besides Athena, Apollo was the god who helped Odysseus and his family the most? Indirectly at least.

If that's true it's really a missed opportunity in EPIC.

No, no, the god who assists Odysseus the most after Athena is unquestionably Zeus.

Zeus genuinely has no problems with Odysseus and makes it very clear that he finds the man brilliant and would have already had him home and safe if he had his way, but he makes it clear that he's deferring to Poseidon who actually has the problem with Odysseus because, ultimately, the sea is Poseidon's domain and kingdom and Zeus doesn't intend to step on his brother's toes.

I'd definitely give third place to Apollo however. The big bug-bear about Apollo in the Odyssey is just that he's much less tangible than Athena or even Hermes who appears to Odysseus multiple times to help guide him/give him proclamations. His presence is everywhere though; like I've previously mentioned (and like he did with Jason) it's Apollo protecting Odysseus from Poseidon as he sails the sea after Odysseus blinds Polyphemus. It's also Apollo keeping Telemachus safe. His most vital role by far is when Odysseus returns to Ithaca in time for the challenge that will determine the next king. Not only is it a shooting contest whose first hurdle is to string a bow, the challenge itself takes place on a festival day for Apollo. Athena is there with Odysseus and Telemachus physically, but Apollo is looking after them in spirit, sending signs and signals to keep Telemachus especially safe.

(Od. Book 15, Telemachus warns about the state of Odysseus' house to Theoclymenus, a son of one of Apollo's prophets.)

There's also the fact that Odysseus makes sure to pray to Apollo before he attempts to string the bow:

Likewise, before he slays the first suitor, Odysseus again prays for Apollo's guidance and gaze to guide his arrows:

Also, as an additional thing, have Telemachus invoking Zeus, Athena and Apollo that he could see the suitors have their asses beat:

(Od. Book 18. Telemachus excitedly gushes to him mom about his cool new friend (Odysseus. Odysseus is the friend.)

There's a lot of minimisation of Apollo's role in the Odyssey because it isn't as bright and showy as his role was in the Iliad but hey, even there people tend to minimise how truly present Apollo is for the duration of the war when they're doing adaptations. Within Epic, the stage is already more than set for both Apollo and Athena to be there at the advent of Odysseus' revenge but none of that matters if that's not the creator's intention, y'know?

 Lullaby, who has a good relation with Time (more or less) but they're not that close to share something THAT personal. But she must have spoke with Impa about it Maybe Impa TRIED to save the baby.

Artemis totally speak about it with Warriors and Impa and make them promise they would protect her son is he has ever a son one day.

Flora, wondering if it's her fault. Wondering why her dad did that. Hoping that he didn't know about it. And Wild being horrified.

Dawn and Aurora ...well that' a mess for them too. because one of them has had her twin brother killed but a little brother spared? WHY? Why hert twin had to die then?

All the Zelda, meeting Legend: One Of Us

Honestly, that would be awful. Some of them would have no clue until they were told and others might actively remember what happened. None of them was able to do anything about it, and they all would feel guilty that they couldn't save a sibling despite saving their kingdoms.

I do feel like, if they did meet Legend with such knowledge, and realized what he is, they would all sort of cling onto him because meeting him is the closest they will ever have to meeting their brothers, and maybe they decide to direct all the feelings about the whole thing onto him.

Maybe some of them would resent him a bit, for living when their brothers had to die, but given that most of the princesses are pretty mature, I think the majority would rather get to know him and ask to spend time with him, even though they know he's not what they lost, but everyone grieves in their own way, yeah?

If it was that common though, it would be interesting to see why all princes are killed in such a world, especially if they were essentially the other half of a pair that always comes into being. Like, my theory about why princes are killed works in a world where they are rare, but in a world where they're a constant? Somehow, I have a feeling it would be even darker than what I imagined T-T

That said, I'm now imagining a world where Artemis does have a son and Warriors somehow ends up having to run away with the kid and raise him, Uncle Aflon style, and meeting the chain with said baby in hand. Like, that scarf is definitely baby-swaddling material but I'm also a sucker for Dad Wars, and also, the angst potential? All around?!?!?!?! I'm in love!

Here I am re-reading True Aim for the 8th time and I swear I notice something.

You know when Kate brings Jane back to her apartment and Yelena is there cooking Mac and cheese? Is Yelena wearing Kate’s clothes? Or at least her sweatshirt? My eyes just caught on the words “purple fabric” when Yelena is leaving and I was like 🤔. Cause if that’s true, than that’s an amazing detail that makes me appreciate the story even more

I honestly had no idea what you were referencing at first so I went back to reread the chapter and then dug out the notes I had back in the day. She wasn't wearing Kate's sweater, but she was wearing purple because she knew that was Kate's favorite color; and she did come into that room to practically seduce her.

I don't remember if it ever made it into the fic (I have not reread it 2+ years now), but I did have in mind that Kate eventually got her hands on that sweater and practically stole it. The whole idea was based off of the outfit from this scene:

6 - most elaborate fantasy

establishing and running a “veterinary clinic”, primarily for petplayers (but everyone would be welcome, of course).

having an entire complex where i could offer services such as microchipping pets, kennel/cattery services, inspections, as well as the option to spay/neuter pets.

id be able to have a “shelter” for strays; run events around the concept of finding owners, and provide spaces for puppy playdates

and of course, a sick and twisted medical “research” (torture) dungeon in the basement >:)

7 - fantasies i’d like to play out in real life

“kidnapping” and torturing a sub (or multiple) for days or weeks on end, having taken them while they’re unconscious

one i’ll (hopefully) be playing out soon is using an electrocautery pen to mark and “decorate” my pup
