Augusta Ada King, Countess Lovelace (1815-52), a skilled mathematician, was the daughter of Lord Byron and a friend and colleague of Charles Babbage: 'the father of computers'. In 1843, she published a translation from Italian of a 'sketch' of Babbage's analytical engine with her own notes. It suggested the 'engine' could do more than calculation; she described an operations sequence, the first computer program.

My Simblreen 2024 Gifts: Regency Dresses and Accessories
Yes, I know I used that GIF for my porchlight, but I don't have time to go and take another picture and I'm drafting this the night before because I procrastinate and do things at the last minute. Anyway, happy Halloween, I am sharing my Simblreen treats publicly with y'all
You will be getting three AF dresses (2 for formal wear, one for riding), 1 Lace Collar Accessory (Found in the necklace category) 1 Fichu Accessory, and 1 Paisley Shawl Accessory (Both found in the glasses category), and 1 Regency Poke Bonnet (Found in the Hat Category). I also had a turban hat hair to release but forgot I made it in July when I was experiencing hat hair difficulties so it will have to wait to be released with my next hat hairs.
Below, I'm going to insert some pictures of what you'll be getting, I used meshes and textures from maya40 which she was kind enough to send to me. I also recolored @cringeborg's yplum riding habit because she had already converted it. The other dresses are just a long-sleeved version I made of these. The textures are based on dresses in real life.
Stuff generally works from about 1810-1826. The poke bonnet could very well work until the late 1830s, and the fichu could work from about 1750-all throughout the 19th century.
BGC, everything is low poly except the Augusta Poke Bonnet. It is 27k poly and I cannot decimate it without it having holes unfortunately. If your computer can't handle it, don't put it in your mods folder.
General Warning: I run dx9, if you experience any issues with not seeing some stuff in CAS that uses transparency, I'd run a batch fix with s4s if you run dx11 : )
As always, let me know if you have any issues.

r got injured on the last case so has to stay behind with garcia on a case, which leads to lots of texting and face times with jj. maybe jj finds it hard to sleep away from r for once, so r stays on facetime until jj falls asleep
Stay On The Call Please

pairing: jennifer jareau x fem reader
category: fluff
warnings: none
word count: 727
summary: you have to stay behind with garcia while the team goes on a case and your girlfriend misses you
I squinted as I tried to read Garcia's computer screen. How does she know which information to read? We were currently on call with JJ, telling her potential suspects for the current case. She was already at the hotel room, it was pretty late so I don't know why she was calling us but we were willing to help. "Hey Pen...can I talk to y/n?" JJ's voice was a bit quiet and I could tell that something was wrong.
"Yeah." Garcia dismissed us and I left to go sit at my desk, still on call with JJ.
"What's wrong babe?" I asked, clicking the FaceTime button, wanting to see her beautiful face again after 3 days.
"I miss you." She told me quietly. When she accepted the FaceTime I saw that she was laying in the hotel bed and she looked super tired. She had dark bags under her eyes and she looked defeated.
"I miss you too honey." I frowned when I saw the state she was in. "What's going on? Anything I can do to help?" She shrugged. "Jayje...come on. You can talk to me. Please talk to me baby, it looks like you haven't slept in days."
"Because I haven't. I can't sleep away from you." She partially hid her face in her pillow after her confession. "I miss you so much." My heart melted and I was overwhelmed with the urge to book a flight to Augusta just to see her again. "I'm sorry for the constant texts." She added. "I just really miss you."
"Don't apologize hon, ok? I get so happy when I get your texts, it means that you're alive and well and it's a chance to talk to you." I assured her. "You can text me anytime you want, ok? I'll always answer." I wanted to give her a kiss on the forehead so badly but it wasn't possible. "I love you so much."
"I love you too." She let out a loud sigh that I could hear through the phone. "I really wish you were here. Fuck that unsub for shooting you." I let out a soft chuckle.
"I know. I wish I was there too."
"I mean, there's no one to cuddle when I'm trying to sleep! It's terrible!" She exclaimed. "I can't sleep without you." She said again. "I really can't." I frowned.
"I'm really sorry baby. But you've gotta try, right? Just close your eyes and try to fall asleep, ok?" I tried to keep my voice soft, hoping it would coax her to sleep. "I should probably go-"
"Stay on the call...please?"
"Of course. I'm probably going to end up sleeping in your old office anyways. It's hard to sleep in our bed when you're not here." I tried to comfort her a bit by telling her I was having the same issues as her.
"Good. There's a blanket in there and it's really comfy. I took naps in there a lot." I smiled warmly and made my way up to her old office, plopping myself down on the couch and pulling the blanket up over me.
"It is really comfy." I agreed. She smiled and giggled a bit as I wiggled around to try to find a good position. I ended up hugging a pillow since it was the closest thing to hugging her.
"Thanks for staying on the call."
"Of course. I'm sorry I can't be there with you. You have no idea how much I miss you." I told her with a small pout. "Don't forget to take breaks, ok? I swear to God JJ if you go after that unsub when you haven't slept in 3 days if he doesn't kill you I will." She laughed and nodded.
"Ok. I wont go after the unsub like this." She smiled warmly. "I'm gonna try and get some rest." I nodded, prepared to hang up. "No no. Stay on the call. I think you being on the call will help me sleep." I nodded, willing to help her in anyway I could.
"I love you JJ. Don't hesitate to text me or call me if you need anything, ok?" I hooked my phone up to a charger so it wouldn't die.
"Ok...I promise. I love you too." I lied there and watched as she fell asleep over the phone with a smile on my face.

Wherever there have been people weaving silk, it is safe to say, there have been people thinking about the way in which human artifice supervenes on the natural world, and about the power of the metaphor of weaving for conveying something of the way in which the things and beings of the social and natural worlds are woven together with one another, even across long distances. Leibniz’s closest successor in this cluster of preoccupations is surely Ada Augusta Lovelace, the British mathematician and daughter of the romantic poet Lord Byron, who conceived her own work as a variety of “poetical science”: In addition to being an illustrious woman of what today is known under the impoverished label of “STEM”, Lovelace also provided, more clearly than any of her contemporaries, an explicit account of the overlap between the history of weaving and the history of computing. INTRODUCTION
Hello, my name is Augusta, and I'm an IT student who is fascinated about how technology is changing the world. I prefer exploring how innovation addresses real-life problems, and my areas of interest are artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and cloud computing. The ability to analyze is my greatest asset, and in order to add to my theoretical understanding, I'm trying to get more hands-on experience. I know that emerging technologies refer to innovations that are in the early stages of development but have the potential to significantly impact industries and society. I'm eager to acquire knowledge about the uses, difficulties, and potential consequences of innovative technologies like quantum computing, AI, IoT and blockchain.

Lacey: Chapter 19
August 21, 2023
My manager for my Photoshop job sure loved to work me overtime now, didn’t he? 2 hours before and two hours afterwards, with only work in between and no time for lunch. How the fuck was I supposed to do anything other than work?
To make matters worse, the days were inching closer to the start of the next academic year. After looking at the curriculum more closely, I realized that I had somewhat more to study for than usual as I had new material to memorize. If not for the fact that Micah had slightly loosened up on handing me drafts to go over, I’d have been absolutely screwed.
Anyways, I had no choice but to ignore literally every message I got unless it was absolutely necessary to respond. Corianna’s ramblings about her waitress job and Betty’s promotion at her pubs, Inez’s vents, Oscar’s music memes. I even had no time to respond to Darian’s recent text about his breakup with Inez - although I felt bad about that last one.
Darian Stewart (Mon, Aug 21, 7:00 AM): Hey James, how’s it going? I broke up with Inez recently. We weren’t really working out. It wasn’t her fault, but she wanted things to move along faster than I did.
My Discord status was set to Do Not Disturb, of course. So was my phone and my computer. But one email from a certain Lacey girl slipped through the cracks.
Lacey Hannah (lacey3ahannah2005@/gmail.com, 8:00 PM): Hey Archer! I made a song cover 4 u! Hope you enjoy it!
(I had to send this by email because Discord wouldn’t let me send this 4 minute video).
Below the wall of text was a clip of Lacey singing “The Only Exception” by Paramore. Sung in the original E major, my mark actually did sing quite well. But much to my dismay, she sounded too much like Augusta. Shame, because it would have been a very flattering move if it was from almost anyone else.
Alas, I had more drafts from Micah to work on anyway.
Why always him? I thought.
So I kept working and working and then studying until I nearly forgot who I was by midnight. After that, I fell into a deep, dark, sleep.
…
March 21st, 2020
It’s been a month since I got kicked out of my parents’ house. This simple fact makes me realize I’m in a flashback dream.
My mother told me at the start of Grade 12 that I’d have to leave on my 18th birthday since neither she nor my father could stand me for too much longer. Strange, because they’d hardly interact with me except to tell me about stuff affecting all of us.
Since my father’s a doctor and my mother’s a nurse, I guess they figured out that COVID-19 would escalate soon enough for me to be stuck with them around the time August 20th would roll around. It was a clever move on their part to conveniently evict me back in February, but it left me with little money to spend on anything.
I lived with my grandma for a week until she caught pneumonia and got sent to the hospital. After that, I rented out the hotel room I’m currently in. It lacks both privacy and luxury, but it does the job. There’s an apartment I’ll get in New Haven once I move there to go to Yale anyways.
I’m busy crossposting an article I wrote for UX Unraveled. Twitter is not loading for me properly, so I check for texts and DMs from my friends. It’s the only way we can contact each other nowadays. Well, with Corianna I always have to use the Internet since she lives in Michigan and I live in Connecticut.
None of us are high profile at this point. We all have 500-ish followers each on Medium, and YouTube didn’t fare much better. The only reason I’m surviving now is because my Vocal Media articles get a ton of reads and my photoshop profile under my real identity is in ridiculously high demand.
Corianna interviewed Betty/Lovergirl for an article she’s writing on how TikTokers are promoting cottagecore. In the meantime, I got a friend request from Lovergirl’s eventual rival Augusta Flowers.
Augusta and Betty didn’t always hate each other. As I would learn years later, Betty even had a small crush on the former at first. But they worked in the same female oriented beauty niches. With that came competition - despite Augusta being three years older than Betty.
I didn’t know this at the time. Neither Betty nor Augusta were well-known when lockdown started, though Augusta fared slightly better. They weren’t even in any social circles I had connections in. I figured it wouldn’t hurt for me to accept Augusta’s friend request, so I did.
This is a memory, so I can’t parse out the exact timestamps of any messages. Some also got completely blurred out. But the spirit of the conversation still remained.
Augusta greets me with “Hello” and a waving GIF. I greet her back. She asks me if I prefer video making or writing. It’s hard for me to answer at the time, so I tell her I don’t know.
After an exchange where she extols the virtues of both writing and clip editing, the conversation suddenly shifts gears. Augusta asks me if she can vent to me. Not understanding what she really meant, I gave her permission.
Augusta proceeds to tell me about her struggles in the TikTok sphere. Even though she with three thousand followers is more popular than Betty at this point (who has only 800), Augusta struggles in her offline life. Her apparently sloppy excuse of a father - a chain smoker who threw her belongings at her as punishment for asking him to help with literally anything - was trying to reestablish contact with her again despite a restraining order. This is on top of Augusta being falsely accused of forgetting to cite a source for an educational short on COVID.
She cries and sobs when recounting her family life and laughs at the sheer absurdity of her online presence. I play along with her dark narration. We bond over scripting languages as the days pass by in my dream. Soon enough, she’s my sisterly best friend.
Things were perfect. What could go wrong?
Everything, as it turned out.

Day 2 4/15/2024
To be completely honest, I don't have many thoughts on this chapter. Which in a way is good, because my computer is going to die soon. I have to go purchase another one because my cat likes to chew wires... It's delightful.
Anyway.
"The Psychology of Daily Routine"
I think the main reason I didn't have a lot of thoughts on this one was mostly because I had already heard the point or had somehow already come to the same conclusion.
Your habits create your mood, and your mood is a filter through which you experience your life
I thought a lot about the fact that this points out that it affects how you experience your life. Because it does. And it's us that causes it. Because of our own mind. So often, we like to place blame on someone else for ruining our moods. But how many times is it because our brains were weak and couldn't uphold better thoughts? If I'm in a good mood and meet someone in a bad mood, I am less likely to also end up being in a bad mood than if I were to meet them while I was also in a bad mood. My mood would just worsen.
"It's the patter of continually experiencing that thought that compounds its effect and makes it seem valid." This sentence made me think of all of my mood swings and mood plunders during my PCOS flare-ups. So many days just belittling and degrading myself with my own brain. And then believing it because I spent countless hours telling myself so. I need to learn better coping skills and mechanisms to stop that thinking before it gets to the "sobbing uncontrollably at three in the morning because I think absolutely no one loves me and I'm all alone" point.
You must learn to let your conscious decisions dictate your day- not your fears or impulses.
"Learning to craft routine is the equivalent of learning to let your conscious choices about what your day will be about guide you, letting all the other, temporary crap fall to the wayside."
I think this subtly points to the fact of the importance of waking up in the morning and planning your day ahead so you don't get distracted and waste time. Or even doing it the day before. It's so important to plan and organize, even if it's just a mental note done at the end of the night. Something is better than anything. That's something that I definitely need to work on.
Happiness is not how many things you do, but how well you do them.
"We're basically impaled with the fear that we're unhappy because we're not doing 'enough'."
I think I feel this way A LOT because of my brother. He's a journeyman electrician and is currently making like 40-60 dollars an hour. He's always bringing up the truck and trailer that he's looking to buy and going over his plan. And I really do hope that he gets to achieve all his goals. But it makes me terrified that I'm not doing enough. And on one hand, totally true. I could go back to college. I could be getting a better job, or cleaning more. Yes, I know that I have a lot of work to do to get my life in a better shape. But.... Especially after meeting someone like Devon. Him and all his friends made me feel great about basically all of my situations. Expect the abortion. But most every other area of my life? Like I heard stories of the drug heads and alcoholics in Augusta from him. I mean even himself, he was living at his mom's after being homeless during the summer. I do get a lot of fear because I know that I'm not doing enough. In yesterdays note I wrote about how we shouldn't all rush towards death. It's okay to wait and experience and have a different timeline. But this can be also a dangerous way of thinking. Because then you think, what's the point of anything?
But I don't think that is how it should be taken.
I think it should be taken as: Why not try whatever? If you want money, go for it. If you want to travel, then go for it. We only get one life. Stop to think about why you're doing what you're doing? Because yes, money is super helpful and can attribute a lot to our happiness. Buttttt you have to think about the fact that when you die, you leave everything behind. You're not going to be taking that million dollars with you. It's okay. Spend time with your family and the co-workers you like. Make a life worth living.
What's worth living to you?
When you regulate your daily actions, you deactivate your 'flight or fight' instincts because you're no longer confronting the unknown.
I'm going to be honest, I don't quite get this. Maybe I'm too high, but doubtful. Because I don't feel fearful everyday when I wake up and I don't know what I'm doing. Do I subconsciously?
As children, routine gives us a feeling of safety. As adults, it gives us a feeling of purpose.
This immediately made me think of a farm. There is routine every day because there is a purpose every day. We ought to give ourselves little tasks every day that make us feel like we have a reason to get up in the morning and to also feel accomplished once it is done. It doesn't have to be something huge. Like go to college. It could be clean out the litter box. Do the dishes. Or you could have several lists that increase in like terminality. Like day to day checklists and monthly checklists and so on and so forth. What a simple but effective way to habitually change your thinking.
You feel content because routine consistently reaffirms a decision you already made.
"You affirm not only your choice to begin, but your ability to do it."
It's your choice to give yourself the ability to do it!
This one made me think about my long-term learning of Spanish. It's kind of ironic because the other day at work I jokingly told Wilda that she should make a bet with me that I could become fluent in Spanish. She was complaining about not being able to communicate and I knew that if I had $100 on the line then it would motivate me to finally put forth the effort. She didn't take the deal, lol, but I ended up getting Mark to agree. I told him to just agree with me and he said, "Uh, okay." Shook my hand. And then I turned to Curtis and told him not to tell him, lol, to keep it a surprise. So, I put in my calendar; "Might owe Mark $100." I'm not sure if it is actually going to motivate me to learn Spanish more but it was ironic in the timing of this chapter.
I've tried to start learning Spanish probably a half dozen times or more. How fluent would I be right now if I had just stuck with it the first time? The next point, I think, says something about "perpetual procrastination." I am the worst possible procrastinator. Taxes were due today, I live in America, and I submitted them at 10:30 tonight. Why? I've had both of my W-2's since like mid-February. That's ridiculous. My two worst habits that I need to break is being lazy and procrastinating. I need to do better. For the sake of me. For the sake of my cat. For the sake of those around me.
As your body self-regulates, routine becomes the pathway to "flow".
Honestly, this one snippet summarizes it well and I completely agree with.
"The more you train your body to respond to different cues: 7 a.m. is when you wake up, 2 p.m. is when you start writing, and so on, you naturally fall into flow with a lot more ease, just out of habit".
(My computer died. This sucks to type on a phone, smh)
When we don't settle into routine, we teach ourselves "fear" is an indicator that we're doing the wrong thing, rather than just being very invested in the outcome.
Oh my god, how much this is fucking true for me.
"It gives us gaps and spaces in which our subconscious minds can say: "well, you can take a break now," when in fact, you have a deadline. But if you're used to taking a break at that point in time, you'll allow it simply because "you always do"."
I literally wrote in the book, "OOF!".
Because... Ow. That is SO true. I have such a hard time with self-discipline. I need more. I'm not going to be any better if I can't first create self-discipline.
Although I didn't get an absolute whole lot, not as much as I felt I did yesterday, I feel like what I did get punched the fuck out of me.
I want to be better. I want to grow. I want to see my problems and learn how to fix them. I'm 25. I need to start doing better. Could i be doing worse? Absolutely. But I am doing better. And i will keep doing so. One day at a time.
