》 Ah, Akaashi.
》 The lover
》 Dude, I don’t even think you can feel down when you’re with Akaashi
》 He makes you feel so loved and worth that honestly, it’s hard to have these types of days
》 As it should be! >:( You should feel loved!!
》 But they do happen and Akaashi is prepared every time they do
》 He notices them quite early on because of your loud sighs, staring off into the distance, and ruffling of your hair
》 He has his eyes on you 24/7 babyyyy
》 He’ll get you to drop whatever you are doing, and just either sit down with him on the couch or lay next to him
》 If it’s on the couch, he’ll sit you on his lap, your legs around his waist and your face towards his, and just looks into your eyes
》 He’ll brush light touches on your cheek with his thumb in a loving and caring manner
》 As he presses his forehead against yours, he whispers sweet affirmations about how much he loves you and how much he values your time together
》 He says things like “I appreciate everything you do for me”, “I love every inch of you and everything you do”, “Thank you for staying by my side”
》 Sometimes you place your head on his shoulder as he rubs soothing circles along your back
》 This calms you down and even manages to make you tired
》 You fall asleep in his arms owo
》 If you lay next to him, he would pull you close into his chest and start petting your hair
》 One arm is wrapped around your body while the other encases your head
》 His natural body scent mixed with the faint smell of his body wash helps ease your emotions and relaxes you
》 He becomes much more affectionate and physical with you during these times and will try to touch you with gentle fingers
》 No words really need to be exchanged because his actions make up for the silence
》 Ah, I’m getting soft uwu
》 Akaashi is really calm and caring during these situations and he will make sure that you are feeling 101% better after it
☾ ⋆*・゚:⋆*・゚:⠀ *⋆.*:・゚ .: ⋆*・゚: .⋆

》 A cinnamon roll!!!
》 Suga is like a big momma
》 He will be attentive 25/8
》 He notices that you get frustrated more often and even the smallest strand of hair that won’t stay in place, gets on your nerves
》 Those tears will start sprouting and mama bear mode: activate!
》 He will sit you down and attempt to calm you down
》 He’s a listener, so he will look at you with empathetic and considerate eyes as you pour your heart out to him
》 Anything, even if you think it’s dumb to be sad about, he will listen to everything
》 Holds your hand as comfort and runs his fingers over your knuckles
》 Lots of kissies too
》 On your temple, your hand, cheek, lips
》 His kisses make all the boo boos go away
》 He lets you sleep either on him or having your head on his lap
》 As you’re talking, he just admires the outline of your face and the way your hair falls
》 When you are done, he will offer you words that make your heart swell and will also ask if there is anything he could do
》 If you are stressing over work or school, he will try and assist you with whatever he can, he just doesn’t want to see you down like this
》 Will also cook meal for you too
》 Your favourite meals? He already researched the whole internet, asked your family, and tested over 50 times just to make it perfect for you. So, he always has the ingredients ready
》 Suga is a big mom and is there for you all the time, just like how a real mom would be uwu
☾ ⋆*・゚:⋆*・゚:⠀ *⋆.*:・゚ .: ⋆*・゚: .⋆
Tumblr media
》 HE’S A CRACKHEAD SUCAN
》 He would be the one that would wrap you up in a blanket
》 It legit that thing where you wrap up the sad person in a blanket like a burrito, lay the burrito next to you, hug the sad person, and then feed the sad person
》 You are sad person
》 He is such a flirt so I think sometimes he doesn’t really realize if you are sad or feeling down
》 But his comment do make you kinda smile
》 Like what he says is so cringy that it kinda hurts
》 “Volleyball is just hardcore hot potato”, “If two people read each other’s mind, whose mind are they reading?”, “Butter is just food lotion”
》 It’s so stupid that they make you smile
》 He’s just like ???
》 When he does realize you are sad, he will try to be the loving boyfriend, but he kinda fails
》 He makes you laugh though
》 He’s good at that
》 He’s trying ;-;
》 He’ll run a warm bath for you and just assumes what would make you feel better
》 Calls Iwa for backup to be honest
》 Lots of hugs
》 He likes hugs so; therefore, you should like hugs too
》 Holds you and sways until you calm down or cannot breathe
》 Either way, he’s done his job
》 Oikawa is a shitshow, but he never fails to make you smile

*:・゚✧*:・゚✧COACHES DON’T PLAY
THE JOURNAL OF A FORMER AUTHOR: PAGE 002
Tumblr media
HOT OFF THE PRESS ! Is this not what you’re looking for? Please view the masterlist [here]!
EXTRA ! miya osamu x fem! reader. 1.2k words. original characters.
Tumblr media
“Hey, (Y/N)-chan. It’s been a while. How’re you?”
She held her breath, not realizing the lessened formality of their relationship. Letting out her breath little by little, (Y/N) took her time with what she wanted to say.
It was a little too long, however, when her cousin spoke after a minute of silence. “Hello? Are you still there?”
Hastily she replied, “Yeah! Yeah, I am. I’m… okay. How are you?”
From the other end came a slight chuckle. “So am I. How’s the dating column coming along?” (Y/N) pursed her lips, and her heart beat quicker, nervous that the previous Dating-san, her cousin, was asking her about such matters.
“That’s what I wanted to talk to you about tonight,” she ended up saying.
“Oh? What’s wrong?”
“I… got kicked. From the club. ‘Cause my editor spread a false rumor about me. And now my entire reputation as Dating-san, and as a person in general, really, is pretty much down the drain,” she told him. She was genuinely surprised that not only her cousin had managed to stay silent throughout the entire explanation, but also how she had more to say.
“And I feel like such a terrible person now, too. ‘Cause of both the newspaper column, that I couldn’t do my own job and be actually responsible, and that I ruined one of the relationships that I helped build.” Silence came from the other end. Again, a wave of nervousness rushed over (Y/N) and shook her; what loomed over her next was the intimidation she felt whenever she talked with her cousin, Dating-san.
When her cousin began talking, she stiffened, despite being wrapped up in the comforts of her bed. “I see. Well, I’ll start off by saying congrats for working well enough to help build a relationship; I’ll give you that. Next, I see where you’re coming from. I’m really sorry that you had to go through this; there’s definitely some corruption in this organization. I’ll talk to Aki-san for you if you’d like.
“You really don’t have to--”
“No, please. Let me. It’s the least I can do for my favorite cousin. Is there any particular reason why you’re on bad terms with your editor?”
(Y/N) didn’t even have to think about the answer. “Yeah: I like her boyfriend. Or, well, ex-boyfriend.”
Her cousin gave a good laugh, and (Y/N) felt herself smiling to his contagious laughter. “Oh, (Y/N). You really… let your crush go just for the sake of your job, huh? You’re too generous, I swear.” Laughing in between your words, you told him that you had to; it was your responsibility.
After a few minutes of letting out a good laugh mixed with the undertones of a sob, (Y/N)’s cousin silenced her with his next string of advice for her. “(Y/N), I know how seriously you take, or took, I guess, this job and, honestly, I’m very proud of you for that. I remember you were so excited to take up the responsibility once I graduated, and your excitement spread to me, too.
“But, you see, this job as a writer does not define who you are, got that? You are so much more than what you’re known as at school. You’re someone who’s hardworking and passionate with everything they do. You’re a lover and a hater. You’re emotional. You’re friendly; you can get along with anyone. (Y/N), I don’t know you as Dating-san, but as my cousin. I know you as (Y/N).
“And, lastly, do not feel bad that your editor spread a terrible rumor about you. She’s going to get what she deserves soon enough. I really don’t blame you for being selfish. Sometimes we as dating coaches gotta feel something, too, you know? I don’t think I ever told you, but last year I actually got with my crush because I was selfish. ‘Cause, of course, coaches don’t play, but they gotta step on the court some day.”
There was a strange feeling that washed over (Y/N) with those last words. She opened her mouth to thank her cousin, but before she could even say anything, he told her, “I do not regret making you the next Dating-san at all, (Y/N). You amaze me every day, even if you think you’re the worst person in the world. You will never be that kind of person to me.”
Even though she knew he couldn’t see her, (Y/N) mouthed a “thank you,” and hung up. She stayed underneath the blankets of her bed for a while before she hopped up to freshen up herself in her bathroom. Slowly she learned that being kicked off the newspaper club wasn’t a bad thing; in fact, she saw it as a way for herself to grow.
When she came back, her phone buzzed with one single notification from her cousin. It was a text message. She smiled warmly at the message.
[10:41 pm] don’t forget that if you’re troubled by all of this because of the guy you like, go for the guy! have no regrets. follow what you want to do instead of what others tell you to do. coaches can play, too!
Setting her phone down next to her on the desk, (Y/N) opened up her notebook to let out her thoughts.
Tumblr media
So this is the journal of a former author. It feels much more therapeutic to handwrite than to type, though it hurts a little more to write.
What do I want to say, exactly? Maybe it’s that I am conflicted between regretting falling for Osamu and thinking that falling for him was a good thing. If I never fell for him I wouldn’t be in this mess. However, thinking about it, if I never fell for him I wouldn’t have had that really good talk with my cousin.
Ultimately, I wish I never liked him.
But then again, he’s picked me up on days I’ve felt so down… and he’s good company. Maybe we’re better off as friends. I don’t think he was right for Asai. I thought he would change her, but in the end, she remained the same. She treated Osamu like a pet and made him bow down to her.
I’m sorry, Osamu. I wish I never advised you to date Asai. My fear of her caused me to write what she wanted to see, not what you wanted to see. Though, you’re okay with anything, and that’s what kinda drew me to you, I guess. You were okay with being my friend, and you genuinely enjoy my company, even if you don’t really show it. I enjoy your company, too.
I just wish I could tell you how I feel. Asai probably has, though. Or maybe she hasn’t. Who knows? I don’t know what I’d do if I told you that I liked you. I’d run away and hide. Never show my face to you again. Would you come try and find me?
I should stop being so indecisive. Here are my thoughts, loud and clear: I like Osamu. I regret writing down what Asai wanted to read, not what Osamu wanted. I will never regret knowing Osamu, befriending him, and falling for him.
I will never regret taking up the role as Dating-san, because if I’m part of the newspaper club or not, I will always be Dating-san to Inarizaki High.

𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕕𝕒𝕟𝕔𝕖
prince! akaashi x f!reader
genre: fluff(?)
summary: akaashi has a ball going on with many important people. yet, you have his full attention
author note: >:( I wanna dance
Tumblr media
The sound of full and mellow music from a violin could be heard throughout the ballroom. Along with the polite conversation of the guests and their footsteps as they walked across the titled floor. There was even a hint of aroma from the expensive cheese, cakes, and other snacks bring served. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves at the grand ball in the ballroom of Fukurodani castle. Everyone but Keiji Akaashi, prince and next in line for the thrown of the ever-prospering kingdom of Fukurodani.
He sat on his throne, dressed in the best-tailored suit for a prince with a crown perfectly placed on his head. There was a bored look on his face, one that didn’t allow the guest of the party to know how he was filling. Everyone was unsure if the Prince of Fukurodani was enjoying the ball thrown in celebration of his birthday/engagement. His posture was straight, and he would only smile when it seemed appropriate.
The music suddenly stopped, and everyone faced the grand entrance. Akaashi glanced over, waiting to see who he was engaged to. He had only found out about the engagement three months ago and would every so often exchange letters with his bride-to-be. It would be a lie to say that Akaashi wasn’t excited to meet the person he was engaged to. The letters exchanged between the two help many different feelings and secrets. Concerns and plans for the future of their kingdoms. To say the least, Akaashi was truly looking forward to meeting the princess he has been communicating with.
“Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the royal family of the kingdom of Nekoma. Please welcome, Princess Yn Ln, fiancé of Prince Keiji Akaashi.”
Akaashi couldn’t believe his eyes. The person who he has been exchanging letters with and slowly falling in love with was standing on the other side of the huge room. His heart rate started to beat faster than it has ever beaten before. You were the most beautiful person Akaashi has ever laid eyes on. He usually doesn’t care about appearances but your beauty was something he couldn’t wrap his mind around. Quickly, he stood up and proceeded to walk across the ballroom. Half of the guests were shocked by the sudden movement while the other half kept their eyes on you.
The two of you met halfway. Akaashi was still speechless. When he finally gained his composure, he extended a hand out to you. As if on cue, the music started playing again. You gladly accepted his hand and started to waltz away.
“So, you’re the famous Prince Akaashi,” you said softly, making it so only Akaashi could hear your words. To Akaashi, your voice was like music. It was better than the music that was playing. It soothed him in a strange way, he felt like he knew you his whole life. It felt like this wasn’t the first time he met you, but it was.
“And you’re the famous Akaashi,” you replied. After Akaashi spun you, he pulled you in close and whispered something that no one expected. You had to keep your composure as you hear these words since the whole room was watching the two of you.
“If it weren’t for the crowd of people, I would kiss you right now.”

Let’s get to know each other !
So there is this questionnaire invented by Marcel Proust which is really complete and useful to get to know someone :) I though this might be interesting :) Although, you are under no obligation or pressure to answer all or any questions :) It is just for the sake of bounding with other people :)
So I won’t be placing all questions, but just a few ones (as the test is really long, if you feel interested it is fully available on internet :))
1- My main trait of character
I am thoughtful
2- Quality I admire in a man and in a woman
Sensibility and the strength to express it openly for a man, independence for a woman
3- My principal flaw
I am really indecisive (might as well call me Chidi, for people who have seen The Good Place)
4- My favourite occupation
WRITING without a doubt, although I have a hard time overcoming my self doubt and often am not happy with my work (perfectionist too a fault). Reading, dancing and learning are close second.
5- Country I’d like to live in
I really love France, but if I ever have the opportunity, I wouldn’t be against having a home in England
6- Favourite colour ?
Lavender blue ( #E6E6FA)
7- Favourite authors ? (time for some lit recommendations)
Albert Camus (I strongly recommend ‘The myth of Sisyphus’ and ‘The Stranger’), Jane Austen, Oscar Wilde, Sartre, Shakespeare, Victor Hugo... Osamu Dazai, Arthur Conan Doyle... Lots of them I could mention but it would be too long
8- Favourite poets ?
Edgar Allan Poe, Victor Hugo and Baudelaire probably
9- Fiction heroes ?
Katniss Everdeen (she is smart, courageous, compassionate, strong willed...) and Newt Scamander (his masculinity is amazing, there is actually a great Youtube video about it : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C4kuR1gyOeQ )
10- Favourite musician ?
Dodie Clark and Elton John at the moment
11- Favourite Painters ?
Vincent Van Gogh and Claude Monet
12- Favourite names ?
For a boy probably Elio and for a girl I really love Iris or Cassiope
13- Your moto
“Normality is a paved road : It’s comfortable to walk, but no flowers grow on it.” (quote by Van Gogh hehe)
14- Finally and most importantly, how are you actually doing ? :))
Good !
So I am tagging @nafeary @juminly @sweetlittlemouse @kisara-16 @sneakysorcerer @ikevamp-annalyne ;)
Once again you really don’t have to do this :) You have total freebie to do some or none of the questions :)

DepEd ready to convert schools into quarantine facilities
#PHnews: DepEd ready to convert schools into quarantine facilities
MANILA – The Department of Education (DepEd) on Friday said it is willing to convert public schools into quarantine facilities, in case the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) situation worsens in the country.
During the “Laging Handa” public briefing, Education Undersecretary Annalyn Sevilla said the request of local government units (LGUs) to use schools for quarantine purposes will be subject to the approval of DepEd regional directors.
“At kung sakali pong eskwelahan ang mapipili, may mga regulasyon po tayo or mga condition na ito naman ay naaayon sa Department of Health’s requirements (In case the schools are tapped as quarantine facilities, we have regulations and conditions that are in accordance with the Department of Health’s requirements),” Sevilla said.
Education Secretary Leonor Briones, in a March 26 memorandum, said the DepEd is ready to render full assistance and cooperation, as well as mobilize the necessary resources to undertake “critical, urgent, and appropriate” responses to curtail Covid-19 threat.
Briones’ statement came amid the growing number of requests by LGUs to use public schools for quarantine or isolation purposes as part of the government’s response to Covid-19.
Under the DepEd memorandum, DepEd regional directors are given the authority to “approve or deny” LGUs’ request to transform educational facilities into quarantine areas.
“Schools can be recommended only when no other facilities are available,” according to the memorandum.
The LGUs are required to identify the particular school facility that will be used for isolation purposes, as well as the duration of its use.
They must present an assessment by the municipal, city, or provincial health officer that the school facility is suitable for quarantine purposes.
They must also provide planned management of the school facility, which must conform to the existing DOH standard guidelines, which include “patient management, safety standards within the facility and immediate community, waste management/ disposal, and other similar/ related health requirements.”
LGUs are likewise mandated to pay expenses related to the setting-up, operation and clearing of school facilities used to accommodate individuals who are possible carriers of Covid-19.
“When a request is granted by the Regional Director based on the recommendation by the concerned Schools Division Superintendent, the school heads must coordinate with the LGU on the (needed) preparations before actual use of the facility for the (quarantine) purpose,” the memorandum read.
The DOH reported Friday that the Philippines now has 803 confirmed Covid-19 cases.
Sevilla said DepEd would ensure that the schools converted into quarantine facilities would be “safe and secured” when classes resume.
“Amin din pong po-proteksyunan ang ating mga mag-aaral at mga guro, at syempre, ang komunidad na malapit dito (We will protect the students and teachers, as well as the community near the schools),” she said. (PNA)

Annalyn, Kaze, and Japes Strike Back!
Tumblr media
Beneath the Tangles continues to expand, both in the quality of work our volunteers are creating as we seek to share our passion for anime, manga, and light novels, and in how we reach out to our audiences. So it’s hard to imagine that there was a time when we almost shut our doors for good. At the end of 2015, I realized I was burnt out, both creatively and from serving through this digital ministry. I was looking for new opportunities, ways to stretch myself as a writer and creator, and was also discouraged by the contraction of our readership. In sum, I was ready to let Beneath the Tangles go—if not permanently, then at least into a long hibernation.
Goodbye, Thank You, and God Bless
<!--//--><![CDATA[//><!-- /*! This file is auto-generated */ !function(d,l){"use strict";var e=!1,o=!1;if(l.querySelector)if(d.addEventListener)e=!0;if(d.wp=d.wp||{},!d.wp.receiveEmbedMessage)if(d.wp.receiveEmbedMessage=function(e){var t=e.data;if(t)if(t.secret||t.message||t.value)if(!/[^a-zA-Z0-9]/.test(t.secret)){var r,a,i,s,n,o=l.querySelectorAll('iframe[data-secret="'+t.secret+'"]'),c=l.querySelectorAll('blockquote[data-secret="'+t.secret+'"]');for(r=0;r<c.length;r++)c[r].style.display="none";for(r=0;r<o.length;r++)if(a=o[r],e.source===a.contentWindow){if(a.removeAttribute("style"),"height"===t.message){if(1e3<(i=parseInt(t.value,10)))i=1e3;else if(~~i<200)i=200;a.height=i}if("link"===t.message)if(s=l.createElement("a"),n=l.createElement("a"),s.href=a.getAttribute("src"),n.href=t.value,n.host===s.host)if(l.activeElement===a)d.top.location.href=t.value}}},e)d.addEventListener("message",d.wp.receiveEmbedMessage,!1),l.addEventListener("DOMContentLoaded",t,!1),d.addEventListener("load",t,!1);function t(){if(!o){o=!0;var e,t,r,a,i=-1!==navigator.appVersion.indexOf("MSIE 10"),s=!!navigator.userAgent.match(/Trident.*rv:11\./),n=l.querySelectorAll("iframe.wp-embedded-content");for(t=0;t<n.length;t++){if(!(r=n[t]).getAttribute("data-secret"))a=Math.random().toString(36).substr(2,10),r.src+="#?secret="+a,r.setAttribute("data-secret",a);if(i||s)(e=r.cloneNode(!0)).removeAttribute("security"),r.parentNode.replaceChild(e,r)}}}}(window,document); //--><!]]>
Looking back, it would have been a bad choice to halt the momentum of the blog, but I was tired and needing rest. So what else was there to do?
Enter Japes.
I don’t remember exactly how the conversation went, and how everything developed, but I did realize that Japes would be the man to lead Beneath the Tangles in my stead, if he was willing to take the job. Thankfully, he did (or at least was kind of enough to accept my request!), and was soon joined by two of our other writers and trusted colleagues, Annalyn (who now usually goes by Lex) and Kaze. They took charge for more than a year, until I returned in spring of 2017, and instituted a number of changes that set a foundation for what Beneath the Tangles is now, including a more professional approach to our content and to editing; a heavier focus on more thoughtful articles; and emphasis on other media, including the podcast.
We four chatted recently about that year + of leadership—what it entailed and what it meant:
Twwk: When I left Beneath the Tangles, I was so worn out that I paid zero attention to the blog for months. It was a while, then, before I realized that Japes had asked the rest of you to step into a leadership role. How did this triumvirate form?
Kaze: I honestly don’t remember the exact details. I recall Japes approaching us with the proposal because he realized he couldn’t handle the task alone (a testament to how amazing Twwk is for doing it!). At the time, I was heavily invested in advancing the blog’s success, so I was very interested in taking up responsibilities beyond just writing.
Japes: I’m really going to have to jog my memory as well. It was only a few years, but, considering the sheer number of life changes I’ve experienced in that time, it feels like it was a lifetime ago.
Without getting too deep into matters (yet!), though, I know that Twwk first handed me the reins when I was in college. Personally, that period was the perfect overlap of my heightened desire to discover my faith for myself, my peak anime obsession, and an absurd amount of free time. Around graduation, it didn’t take long for me to figure out that running the blog like I had opted to was not one person’s job. Or rather, it wasn’t one working person’s job. I quickly found myself on the road to burn-out after I moved here to Tokyo.
At the time, both Kaze and Lex were extremely involved as well. The three of us naturally found ourselves working together, and between Kaze’s deep knowledge of Japanese and otaku culture and Lex’s writing and editing abilities, it seemed like a no-brainer to ask them to be a part of leadership.
Twwk: What do you remember best during that time you three led together?
Japes: I clearly remember the enormous relief I felt upon being able to share editing duties with two other people!
Kaze: I remember a lot of discussions about how to transition BtT from a simple blog to more of an organization with a stronger presence and sense of community. One of the ways we attempted that was making a Discord channel to connect with readers. It didn’t turn out as we hoped, since we shut it down after a few months, but I hear that’s been started back up again.
We passed around a lot of other ideas that never came to fruition as we always came to the same problems being a lack of time, resources, knowledge/experience, and as one might assume, money. Still, it was a memorable period brainstorming with Japes and Lex about how to accomplish our overly ambitious hopes for the site.
Lex (Annalyn): Goodness, there’s a lot to remember. Highlights include brainstorming and video hangout sessions with Japes and Kaze. Sometimes we talked BtT, but sometimes we just hung out—played an .io or Pokemon game as we chatted. We obviously knew each other before, but this time added a dimension to our friendship that I’m really grateful for.
I definitely remember my hesitation over some of the changes. I was very slow to get behind some of the ideas for growth. I was afraid that a more professional look could take away from the warm, casual, inviting look that first made me feel welcome in the comments. I also wanted to ensure that we grew in accordance with our mission and not for growth’s sake. Not to mention how I was concerned about our—and Japes’ in particular—ability to keep up with too many additions. But I trusted Japes and Kaze, and together, we were able to do some great stuff.
I remember bringing in some fantastic new staff members, who I now can’t imagine my online community without.
Oh, and writing posts on behalf of BtT on MyAnimeList. That was cool.
Each memory unlocks another one, so I’ll make myself stop now.
Oh, circling back to an earlier question: I believe we stepped up to at least some admin duties with Japes earlier than suggested above. I think as early as January, maybe February that year. Because by March, we had MDMRN on board, and I was scheduling Anime March Madness tweets.
Twwk: Ah, I have you to thank for Anime March Madness in addition to MDRMN! I had no idea. I love that tournament…so much fun to put together!
Lex: Well, it was MDRMN’s idea. We just said yes. And, in my case, scheduled tweets about it.
Twwk: I guess that leads to my last questions, which are 1) What led you all to put the site back into my hands and 2) What are you all up today—lifewise and related to this hobby / ministry, if anything?
Kaze: What led me to hand the site back over was the harsh reality of being a working adult. Between the exhaustion of a full time job and the daily *2-3 hour commute* I simply did not have the time or energy to be so involved with the site. I tried to keep up with writing blog posts, but nowadays, the time I spend on anime and games is far less than before while dropping writing almost completely, though some readers may have noticed that I now report on anime conventions I attend as that takes much less time and thinking on an event I was going to attend anyway. I still keep up with ongoing anime, but I amaze even myself at how quickly I drop things now when comparing to the habits I had only a few years ago.
Lex: I’m still writing and editing—but now, it’s as a career. I work freelance. I’ve been doing this for years, but I feel like I really got my business running on my terms in the past several months. Unfortunately, no otaku or similarly geeky clients so far, though I’d like that someday.
I don’t have the time or energy to write simply as a hobby anymore. I participate in NaNoWriMo every year now, but that’s pretty much it. I’ll admit I’ve drifted away from anime. I think all that blogging burned me out a bit. It’s not the escape it once was. It’s kinda weird to be on the fringes of that, unaware of the season schedule. I’m getting increasingly out of touch with current anime—a big difference from when I was blogging regularly and knew the current anime, the Twitter hashtags to use, etc. But I still enjoy it. Still watch it. Just not as often.
Japes: The more I hear from Lex and Kaze, the more I remember myself. My answer essentially echoes what Annalyn and Kaze said: life hit. It comes at you fast, and that’s a lesson I learned the hard way. Over the past three and a half years, I’ve moved across the globe, worked in three different industries, gotten married, and experienced numerous changes in hobbies. It’s made me appreciate not only the time and work you put into the site, but the balance you strike between hobbies, career, family, and ministry. I feel like I’m getting better, but it’s absolutely a lengthy process.
These days, I’ve moved into translating Japanese to English professionally, mainly in the gaming scene, though I’m hoping to move into a more administrative role in the near future. Though I’ve become a bit more disconnected from the anime community, I’ve found that my relationship with my wife and with my colleagues has broadened my horizons in the otaku community at large, if you want to call it that. Manga and video games have become more a part of my life than they were several years ago, certainly. Ironically, though, I think my current lifestyle has taught me to appreciate a lot of more mainstream Japanese media that would have once made me scoff.
In terms of ministry work, that has been quite the journey in and of itself. My first year here in Japan, my “job” job intersected heavily with ministry work, so that was the focus of much of my time and energy. After that year, when I moved into datacenter work, I experienced for the first time what it felt like to be totally spiritually isolated. My work and hobbies were no longer oriented around my religious beliefs, and there was nobody telling me to go to church, so I found myself just naturally slipping into a comfortable, but lonely, hole of apathy. I would go on far too long if I gave all the details, so I’ll just summarize by saying that my experiences here in Japan and in different career fields have helped me to balance different priorities and to discover the benefits of things in my life I once considered nuisances. That has led me to a refueled zeal for embracing Christianity in a more intentional way.
Now I know you’re supposed to be the one asking the questions here, Twwk, but I have to ask: How did you feel about Beneath the Tangles during those years of your absence?
Twwk: I’m on the spot now? Haha. Well, I could echo a common refrain here—burnout. I needed all that time away to rest, and I could rest knowing it was in your hands, and Kaze’s and Lex’s. I also underwent an apprenticeship of sorts in writing (though my editor doesn’t know I consider it as such!) and learned so much about social media, that when I came back to a site that was better structured and putting out stronger content, I felt I could contribute to this upward movement, to places the blog had never gone before and couldn’t with me as I was. So to put it into an anime metaphor, your time together was like a shounen manga where the hero (me of course? LOL) goes away to train and other heroes band together and train as well, and then everyone gets back together to fight the common enemy.
Except, of course, Kaze and Lex departed for the reasons mentioned, and you’ve also been too busy to contribute as I know you wish you could. And I really wish you three were still here helping guide the ship, as your strengths would make up for my weaknesses. But as I’ve learned, this ministry and our lives are points on a grid of this journey as we’reused to serve God in others’ lives. He moves us as he wills, and if that’s away of Beneath the Tangles, it’s for a reason, though the impact you three made will continue to feed this site and future iterations of it in profound way until the journey for BtT is finally done. So thank you for all you did—Beneath the Tangles would certainly no longer exist if it weren’t for all your effort, much less reach the audience we do now. I will always be indebted.
=====
Japes, Lex, and Kaze remain active on Twitter—give their accounts a follow to see what movies, series, and games they’re checking out these days, and where their lives are taking them.

These 5 Books Will Help You Become A Better Data Analyst
Tumblr media
However, there are some convenient tools available to aid in data analytics, despite the difficulty of the process. There are many books out there about data analytics, data science and analytics that can be helpful to those who want to learn more about the topic or have some experience with it. Here are some recommendations:
1. Data Analytics Made Accessibly, A. Maheshwari
You may have just begun to probe the waters of the data analytics industry, or if you don't exactly know what that means, this is the book for you. A straightforward explanation of data analysis follows throughout this book.
In addition to providing real-world examples instead of hypothetical situations, the book explains the basics of data analytics through practical examples. This is such an excellent resource that many universities use it as their textbook for data analytics courses.
2. P. Simon, Too Big To Ignore: The Business Case for Big Data
The perfect big data book for you if you are skeptical of the business applications of big data, or if you are intrigued by it and can't get enough, this is a great big data book for either scenario. Throughout Simon's paper, a great deal of attention is paid to how businesses and local governments can use big data analytics to their advantage.
3. The Big Data Revolution: How It Will Transform How We Live, Work, and Think, V. Mayer-Schönberger and K. Cukier
Those seeking more reasons for the importance of analytics, aside from its business applications, will find this a valuable resource. You can apply data analytics across industries, so why not expand your horizons and learn how it can make a difference in your field, no matter what it may be. As the big data revolution doesn't appear to be slowing down anytime soon, this book will prepare readers and encourage us to embrace the changes to come for the industry.
4. Business UnIntelligence: Insight and Innovation Beyond Analytics and Big Data book written by B. Devlin
Those with experience in the field of business data analysis should take a glance at this article. Anyone who has been in the industry for a long time knows that this perspective provides a different perspective on big data and analytics. The book will present business professionals with an in-depth look at the successes and issues in the field and will open up the conversation to the things that aren't always addressed in the industry. Those of you who want to challenge the way you think should read this book.
5. Numsense! By Annalyn Ng and Kenneth Soo, "Data Science for the Layman: No Math Added"
For someone from a non-technical background, reading this book provides a gentle introduction to the world of data science. The authors use clear language and visual explanations to explain algorithms in a way that doesn't overwhelm you with complicated math.
Despite being aimed at beginners, this book is also valuable to practicing data scientists. Make sure that you communicate what you are working on to your business partners by reviewing this article.
Summary
This list of readings is only the tip of the ocean, but I hope it will be a great starting point to begin your journey into data analysis. Tumblr media
did you have to go? did you not care about me, about us? do you know how much pain i go through now? you talked about communication a lot so why didn’t you talk to me? why didn’t you feel comfortable with your feelings? we could have worked it out. we could have still been together. you didn’t have to move and take what was left of our relationship with you. you didn’t have to run away. i didn’t want to hurt you. i tried my best, i tried to love you. so why did you leave?
you didn’t love me. i offered my love in care packages, sealed delicately with affection, but you didn’t even bother to open them. i waited in the rain, the heat, the cold for you because i thought you would always be there for me. i sacrificed my time, love, effort because i thought you would too. you promised you would always be there for me. do you make promises just to tear them apart, as if they were mere pieces of paper? do you take hearts and step on them, crushing their lungs and cutting them off of the bittersweet idea called life?
i see you’re not attending school. did you know i was in your class? did you know that i begged till my throat grew blisters to find out which university you were going to just so i could be around you a little longer? do you notice the glances i give you? every time i hear your laugh, stare at your smile, listen to your voice, i get reminded of our high school days. i want to go back, go back to the days where you were mine, back to the days where i could still hold you in my arms. i want to hear your whispers again, i want to feel your nails drag across my skin, i want to taste those words of affection against my teeth. is that not love?
i’ve never heard you utter those three words from your blushed lips. where was this love when i was on the bathroom floor, soaked with emotions and lies? where was this love when i called you more times than i called my own mother only for you to brush it off like a loose strand of hair? did you even care? i bet you didn’t. you were too caught up with noticing her that you didn’t notice my hurting soul.
was i not enough? my arms feel so cold without your familiar, comforting warmth, my fingers longed for those delicate fingers that held me together. my legs want to run up to you and grab your hand, to go on those dumb little adventures. but you’re not mine anymore. why him? why are you smiling for him, cheeks red as if they were kissed by cherries, fingers were interwoven. it should be me. i deserve to be the one to make you laugh, to wipe your tears, to experience the ride life gives. and yet, i let you slip past my fingertips like a child playing with sand. does he make you happy? you seem happier with him.
he sees my love. not only does he take it and wrap it up as if it’s his prized possession, but he also exchanges it with his. we’re penpals for love. he placed the bandages over my wounded body and kissed each bruise. he mended my damaged mind and silenced the sobs. he listened to my problems, put me first, cared for me as if i would break in his grasp. he’s different. compared to your matches, he was waves and rivers. compared to your spontaneous and erratic personality, he is inviting and warm. compared to you, he’s different.
i’m jealous. i want to be able to talk to you, but when i approach you, my legs plant themselves in place. i’m jealous at how the snow is allowed to melt into your touch. i’m jealous at how the sun can make you dance and crave its presence. i’m jealous at how easily he can call you his. i’m jealous of him. no matter how many daggers i glare into his body, he never budges, never moves, not even a flinch. he is a man who can’t be moved and here i stand, unable to touch you and helplessly longing for your presence. i’m so powerless, so weak, how can i win you back from him. he has his arms wrapped around your body, slowly leaning in. i’m right here. why don’t you see me? has he invaded your mind like how you do with mine? did you know that i can’t stop thinking about you? did you know that your face haunts me late into the night and it’s a type of nightmare i never want to end? am i nothing more than just the past now? am i just a memory?
you should know that i never hated you. i can’t forget you. no matter how much the memories attack my mind, no matter how much my heart yearns for yours beating right next to it, no matter how much my body shivers at the sound of your name, i’ll always love you. i can’t possibly forget all the songs we shared and the late 3am runaways, sitting on the roof and counting the stars. i can’t forget the wind pressing against my face as we biked away from the bustling city, the sound of the ocean diving and crashing along the shore. i can’t forget the butterflies that fluttered in my stomach and floated to assault my lungs, making it impossible for me to breathe. you deserve to know that i’ll never forget you.
is it too late for me to call you? is it too late to send that risky text message? would it matter? would you even care? i can’t even say your name anymore, for the fear of breathing out the last thing i have of you could dissipate along with your fleeting figure. if i pretended to be someone else, would it make things less awkward? the face that i once could make light up and crinkle with laughter was now painted with an uncomfortable smile.
i’m sorry that i wasn’t there for you. i’m sorry that i didn’t make you happy. i’m sorry that i didn’t choose you. i’m sorry i made it seem like i didn’t care for you, even though i did. i’m sorry i played with your feelings. i’m sorry i missed your calls. i’m sorry i didn’t notice your pain. i’m sorry i didn’t let you know how much you meant to me. i’m sorry you felt alone for so long. i’m sorry that i took you for granted. i’m sorry i couldn’t be better for you. i’m sorry i didn’t put enough effort. i’m sorry i got you into this mess. i’m sorry you met me.
i’m so sorry.
but sorry won’t fix anything, right? it won’t bring back the hope of a future i’d spend with you. it won’t bring back all the moments that i dreamt we shared, and that’s the hard truth that i know i’ll never bring myself to accept.
sorry won’t let me choose you.

A LITTLE RECAP . . .
“Hello, everyone. We apologize for not responding to any letters this month, as we have something very important to discuss before the situation can get any worse. The letter that (L/N) (Y/N), who you may recognize as Dating-san, was supposed to answer for this month’s newsletter was an anonymous letter, even though it is obviously written by Miya Osamu, editor Asai Kanako’s boyfriend. It was, unfortunately, not a follow-up letter about how to treat her well and act like a good boyfriend, but rather, a letter in which he expresses Asai’s toxic traits as a girlfriend and wishes to break up with her. And (L/N) was to give advice to him, even though she was the one that brought the two of them together.
We have a pool of letters that we as a newspaper club come and agree to choose together for (L/N) to write, but it seems like this month (L/N) went ahead and decided to choose her own letter to write for. She wanted to break up the relationship between Asai and Miya, and, even more, she wanted to expose the non-existent toxic traits of Asai as a girlfriend using Miya’s letter. This plan of hers obviously backfired, since all her measly little response came out to be an attempt to break the two apart and a way to get with Osamu, the one guy she’s liked since her first year. Yes, (L/N) sacrificed her crush on Osamu to bring him with the girl that he liked. However, her own selfishness caused her to write a response for Osamu’s letter, all so she could have Osamu for herself.
Explain yourself, Dating-san.
EXPLAINURSELF(L/N)!”
Tumblr media
(Y/N) kicked the dust under her feet as she walked home straight away after school. She shoved her hands into the pockets of her blazer, looking down as she didn’t want to make any contact, physical or of the eye, with anyone that went to her school. (Y/N) felt utterly embarrassed with herself.
When the bell rang that day, (Y/N) stood up and made her way towards the newspaper club room to explain herself. Osamu watched her as she swiftly left the classroom, not acknowledging the sniffles and what looked like a stray tear coming from her. He became awfully aware of the newspaper carefully folded in his book bag, wishing he hadn’t shown her the article.
(In a way, he was glad that he had, for she would have had to see it at one point. It was better now than later, he thought.)
(Y/N) opened the door to the club room, where Saki Akihiro, dubbed the “Demon Chief Editor,” sat staring at his computer. By his posture angled towards the door it almost looked like he was waiting for her. He tore his gaze away from the screen and bore his eyes into (Y/N), sweating more from the anxiety of being outed by Asai than from the running she had to do to get to the club room.
“(L/N). Come closer.”
She inched closer, straight expression adorning her face, not wanting to let any sign of fear show through.
“Closer. I’m not going to bite you, (L/N). Look at my screen.”
She walked towards Akihiro, who had his eyes glued back on his screen, which displayed the most recent article for Dating-san Helps Inarizaki High!, the article which tore (Y/N)’s high school reputation apart. Her heart sunk, knowing even from the moment she set foot in the club room that Saki was to scold her, maybe even reprimand her, about the article.
“Aki-san, I can explain,” you stuttered out loud, trying to give yourself the chance to show that Asai was painting you as the villain in this story.
“What explaining is there that needs to be done? What ever this is,” Aki motioned towards the screen, “This call-out article, so to speak, has pretty much explained everything I need to know.” (Y/N) swallowed dryly, and she felt like her breathing was getting heavier by the second. He paused, taking off his glasses. (Y/N) felt her heart stop-- everyone in the newspaper club knew that when Aki took off his glasses he was angry. Like, really angry.
“(Y/N), this article here makes us look bad as a club, you see? I know that Asai wrote that letter. It’s obvious. However, she is one of my most trusted editors. She is very well-respected in our club and performs very well as an editor and a member of our team. And, for your own personal good, I can’t have someone who’s not performing well on our team. I’m going to have to ask you to resign as Dating-san. At least for a couple months. I’ll let everyone else know that you’re just taking a hiatus. Alright?”
She nodded.
“Thank you for understanding, (Y/N). I’ll see you around some time. Take care,” Aki said as she left with her head hung low, embarrassment pressing it down like the burden it is.
It pressed on her neck even further, later at night when she sat at her desk doing schoolwork. She put her head down, giving her eyes a rest. (Y/N) groaned, suppressing the sob she was about to let out.
Pushing the embarrassment away, (Y/N) stood up and took a walk around her room. The destination became her soft bed, jumping on it and sighing into the plush pillow. After grabbing her phone, she wrapped the blanket around her and turned on the phone to find herself about to call the one person she looked up to the most.
She was inspired by him ever since she was a young age. He was currently in high school, a reputable, well-known young man, when she was in her third year of middle school. The two of them were very close with each other; it was a respectful relationship, with (Y/N) always looking up to him in awe. To her, he was wise, all-knowing, even. He often had the right thing to say; the witty things he said made her chuckle, impressed with his words. He was someone that (Y/N) wanted to be when she was older.
He was her cousin, Dating-san.
(Y/N) pressed the call button on her phone, holding it up against her ear as it rang several times before he picked up.
“Hey, (Y/N)-chan. It’s been a while. How’re you?”

prince! iwaizumi x reader
genre: slight nsfw
summary: iwaizumi is the prince of seijoh. and you are a oh so humble military strategist
warning: suggestive content, choking
word count: 902
author note: I thought it was a good idea to explore choking for the first time and this was born fjwowkdndn
Tumblr media
Being the prince of Seijoh had many perks to it. Money, a fanbase, expensive food, command of an army, but it also had its downsides. One of those downsides was the strategy meetings that Prince Iwaizumi had to attend as one of his royal duties. The only reason why it was a downside was that he had to deal with a bunch of old man arguing about how to do things while his assistant disappeared midway through meetings to flirt. Honestly, it was a miracle that assistant Oikawa wasn’t fired.
The only good thing that came out of these meetings for Prince Iwaizumi was that you attended them as well. You were the next in line to becoming chief of one of the clans, so you often tagged along with your father to witness how military meetings and strategies were ran. Iwaizumi remembered the first time he saw you at one of the meetings, he had honestly thought you were an airhead that knew nothing. But he was wrong, so wrong. Your knowledge of different strategies and solutions was impressive. So, it wasn’t a surprise that Iwaizumi always looked forward to these meetings if it meant he was closer to you.
The current meeting progressed as always. Everyone was discussing strategic plans on how to deal with the recent declaration of war from Shiratorizawa. Prince Iwaizumi would glance from time to time at you throughout the meeting, trying to keep it subtle. But his full attention was always fully focused on you whenever you spoke.
By the end of the meeting, it was concluded that soldiers would be stationed at the borders and that the military would be on standby in case of an attack. But it was also agreed that once Shiratorizawa attacks, Seijoh will attack back with ten times the force and with secrets that only the Prince and chosen few will know about. One of those chosen few was you, so with the meeting ending. You were going to discuss some of the strategies that you thought of with Prince Iwaizumi.
Once everyone had left the meeting room leaving only the two of you alone. Prince Iwaizumi locked the doors. These were secrets that could not leave the room until they were deemed necessary. You straightened up in your chair, ready to discuss serious security matters with the prince of Seijoh.
What you didn’t expect was for Iwaizumi to sit next to you, extremely close to you. He leaned forward, leaving a narrow space between the two of you. You could feel the warmth of his breath against your face.
“Do you have any idea how crazy you’ve been driving me?” Iwaizumi whispered. You felt your heartbeat speed up and he leaned even closer, but this time he leaned towards your ear and whispered something. “Let me show you.”
You took in a gulp of breath. Because who were you to deny a prince? Especially a good-looking prince. Slowly, you nodded your head. Prince Iwaizumi smirked at your response. He blew air into your ear, making you squirm in your seat. You could feel the goosebumps on your arms as you felt his breathing against your skin as he slowly made his way to your tips. His hand tilted your face so he could kiss your more comfortably. Iwaizumi softly bit your bottom lip, asking for permission to go in. You let out a small moan, making it quick easy access for him to shove his tongue in your mouth. He moved his hand from your chin to your throat, wrapping his hand around your neck. His kiss was forceful, demanding for dominance yet he made sure not to hurt you too badly. Your right hand shot straight up to his hair, giving it rough tugs while your left hand grabbed ahold of the back of his uniform.
Iwaizumi pulled away from you and loosened his grip around your neck. The two of you were panting heavily. It wasn’t long before he grabbed you by the hips and moved you on top of him so you were straddling him. You didn’t wait for him to make the first move, you immediately dove in. Your teeth bumped together before Iwaizumi took control again. His hands wondered under your shirt while you started tugging at his hair.
If the two of you were to be caught, it would be frown upon. A prince caught in the middle of a heavy make out with one of the soon to be chiefs would cause a huge scandal. But since they were talking about “military strategies” no one would dare walk in. That is until the two of you heard a loud knocking causing the two of you to pull away quickly.
“Prince Iwa-Chan!” Oikawa’s muffled voice could be heard through the door. “We have to visit the soldiers training!”
Quickly the two of you fixed yourselves to look presentable. To erase all sexual tension that was in the room. Your heart still pounded with excitement from what just happened. You just had one of the best moments of your life with the Prince of Seijoh.
“Let’s continue this later in my room tonight,” Prince Iwaizumi whispered in your ear before he left to join Oikawa. Their footsteps grew quieter and quieter as time passed by, your heart rate started to slow down. That is until you realized what you were in for tonight.

Trump is handing Biden a booming inventory market A glance again: Shares shot up after Trump’s 2017 tax cuts supercharged company earnings, then plunged at file velocity when Covid-19 started battering the USA. Since then, nonetheless, they have been rocketing increased, repeatedly reaching all-time highs. Deep political polarization and a worsening pandemic haven’t been sufficient to carry Wall Avenue again. Regardless of this sharp rally, shares underneath President Donald Trump haven’t carried out in addition to they did throughout the first phrases of Presidents Invoice Clinton or Barack Obama, in accordance with an evaluation by my CNN Enterprise colleagues Matt Egan, Annalyn Kurtz and Tal Yellin. And among the current will increase may be attributed to Biden’s win, which buyers consider will generate substantial authorities spending to spice up the financial system. Shares have gained about 13% since Election Day as of Tuesday — the most effective post-election market efficiency for a brand new president in fashionable historical past, in accordance with CFRA Analysis. Biden has not put as a lot emphasis as Trump on shares as a gauge of the nation’s power or wellbeing. “The concept the inventory market is booming is his solely measure of what is taking place,” Biden stated of Trump within the closing presidential debate in October. “The place I come from in Scranton and Claymont, the folks do not reside off of the inventory market.” (Per the newest Gallup ballot, 55% of People have some publicity to the inventory market, many by retirement accounts.) Even so, Wall Avenue can be watching to see if market momentum may be maintained. Chatter has elevated in current weeks that company valuations, notably within the tech sector, have jumped too excessive. “Many buyers fear that the fairness market has rebounded too far and too quick and that there are indicators of extra beginning to emerge in components of the monetary system,” Peter Oppenheimer, Goldman Sachs’ chief world fairness strategist, instructed shoppers this week. “This can be a affordable concern provided that the rebound in equities because the bear market trough in March of final yr has been exceptional.” Oppenheimer stated that whereas a correction — or a ten% decline in shares from their current peak — seems to be “more and more doubtless,” the chances that shares will enter a brand new bear market, dropping 20% from current highs, within the subsequent yr seem “pretty low.” He factors to expectations of sturdy world financial progress in 2021 because the pandemic eases, in addition to “unprecedented” coverage help. On that entrance, nonetheless, unknowns stay. Whereas Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell has emphasised that rates of interest might stay at historic lows for the foreseeable future, the destiny of Biden’s $1.9 trillion stimulus package deal will depend on his capacity to generate some Republican help. In a divided Washington, that can be no simple activity. Netflix comes of age because it hits 200 million subscribers Netflix (NFLX) has come a good distance because it launched in 1997 to ship clients DVDs within the mail. The most recent: The streaming service instructed buyers on Tuesday that it now has greater than 200 million subscribers globally, after including 8.5 million within the fourth quarter of 2020 — beating its personal expectations. It wasn’t the one signal that Netflix has developed right into a mature participant in Hollywood and on Wall Avenue. The corporate additionally stated that it’ll now not have to borrow cash to finance day-to-day operations, and that it’ll discover returning money to shareholders by inventory buybacks. Investor perception: Shares are up 13% in premarket buying and selling, teeing them as much as hit an all time excessive on Wednesday. Competitors within the streaming market stays fierce, after all. ViacomCBS’ newly rebranded streaming service, Paramount+, will go reside in early March, the corporate stated Tuesday — becoming a member of an more and more crowded subject that additionally consists of Disney+, Apple TV+, Amazon Prime Video, Comcast’s Peacock, AT&T’s HBO Max, and extra. However buyers suppose Netflix seems to be in an excellent place to take care of its spot on the entrance of the pack. UBS, for instance, upgraded the corporate’s shares to a “purchase” ranking after it posted earnings, citing continued sturdy world subscriber progress “even [against] rising competitors [and] sturdy progress” within the first half of 2020. Wealthy Greenfield of LightShed Companions identified on Twitter that whereas buyers beforehand appeared anxious about how Netflix was going to finance its large content material manufacturing machine, the tone has shifted. The query now, he says: “What are you going to do with all of the money you’ll begin producing in 2022 and past?” Janet Yellen previews Biden’s powerful stance on China Janet Yellen, President-elect Joe Biden’s nominee to guide the Treasury Division, has made clear the incoming administration will keep a troublesome method to coping with China — setting the stage for extended tensions between the world’s two largest economies. Testifying earlier than the Senate Finance Committee on Tuesday, Yellen promised to tackle “China’s abusive, unfair and unlawful practices.” “China is undercutting American corporations by dumping merchandise, erecting commerce boundaries and giving freely subsidies to companies,” she stated. Yellen added that whereas the Biden group would work with US allies, versus performing unilaterally, she is ready to make use of the “full array of instruments” to deal with such issues. Biden has stated that he won’t rapidly get rid of Trump-era tariffs on Chinese language items. The stance was echoed by Antony Blinken, Biden’s nominee to guide the State Division, in his feedback Tuesday earlier than the Senate Overseas Relations Committee. “President Trump was proper in taking a harder method to China,” Blinken stated. “I disagree, very a lot, with the way in which that he went about it in numerous areas, however the primary precept was the precise one.” What it means: The battle between the USA and China on commerce and expertise has been a key supply of uncertainty for buyers over the previous 4 years. Beneath Biden, that is not going away. Up subsequent Joe Biden can be sworn in as the subsequent president of the USA at 12 p.m. ET. Additionally at present: BNY Mellon, Morgan Stanley (MS), Procter & Gamble (PG) and UnitedHealth (UNH) report earnings earlier than US markets open. Alcoa (AA) and United Airways (UAL) observe after the shut. Coming tomorrow: Economists anticipate one other 910,000 first-time claims for unemployment advantages, an indication of US labor market weak spot. Corporate America pulls the plug on President Trump

Corporate America pulls the plug on President Trump
Facing an unprecedented threat to US democracy, companies appear to be recalculating the benefits and risks of being associated with Trump.
My Appradab Business colleague Matt Egan points out that the Business Roundtable cheered on the CEO president after his election in 2016, applauding his tax plans and appointment of Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, a former Goldman Sachs banker.
Last week, the influential business lobby struck a very different tone, slamming US politicians for spreading the “fiction of a fraudulent 2020 presidential election.”
“After the unconscionable and tragic events we witnessed, it could not be clearer that it is time for the nation and lawmakers to unite around President-elect Biden and Vice President-elect Harris,” the group, which is chaired by Walmart CEO Doug McMillon, said in a statement.
Business leaders that previously supported Trump have also taken public steps to distance themselves from the president. Take Blackstone CEO Stephen Schwarzman, who had been one of Trump’s most ardent corporate backers. In a statement last week, Schwarzman called the siege of the Capitol “appalling,” adding that “the outcome of the election is very clear and there must be a peaceful transition of power.”
Yet the latest moves go beyond strongly worded statements.
After years of hesitating to moderate Trump’s social media accounts — arguing that the president should be given more slack as a powerful public official — Twitter has barred the president from its platform for good, while Facebook has blocked Trump from posting for the remainder of his term.
It’s a reminder that when companies want to move swiftly, they can. But investors seem to be worried about the business consequences, sending Twitter (TWTR) shares down nearly 7% in premarket trading. Facebook’s shares are off 1.6%.
The direction of travel has been set, however.
Other tech giants also entered the fray this weekend, banning Parler, the alternative social media platform gaining traction among some of the president’s supporters. The company now finds itself virtually homeless on the internet after Amazon, Apple and Google have all booted it from their platforms in a span of a little more than 24 hours.
“[Amazon Web Services] provides technology and services to customers across the political spectrum, and we continue to respect Parler’s right to determine for itself what content it will allow on its site,” AWS said in a letter to Parler, which had utilized its cloud hosting service. “However, we cannot provide services to a customer that is unable to effectively identify and remove content that encourages or incites violence against others.”
All the jobs lost in December were held by women
US employers cut 140,000 jobs in December, signaling that the economic recovery from the coronavirus pandemic is in reverse.
A deeper look at the data also reveals a shocking gender gap: Women accounted for all the job losses, losing 156,000 jobs, while men gained 16,000, my Appradab Business colleague Annalyn Kurtz reports.
These are net numbers, which can mask some of the underlying churn in the labor market. Many men, of course, lost their jobs in December, too — but when taken together as a group, they came out ahead, whereas women fell behind.
Big picture: Economists often warn against reading too much into a single month. But December’s job losses capped off an already awful year for working women.
Women are still down 5.4 million jobs from February, before the pandemic began, compared to 4.4 million job losses for men. They started 2020 on roughly equal footing, with women holding 50.03% of jobs, but ended it holding 860,000 fewer jobs than their male peers.
The situation has been particularly dire for Black and Latina women, who disproportionately work in sectors that have been hit hardest by the pandemic, and often in roles that lack paid sick leave and the ability to work from home. As schools and day cares closed, many were forced to make hard trade-offs between work and parenting.
“Those sectors are less likely to have flexibility, so when employers are inflexible or women can’t come to work because of caregiving responsibilities — they have to exit the workforce,” said C. Nicole Mason, president and CEO of the Institute for Women’s Policy Research.
Among women, Latinas currently have the highest unemployment rate at 9.1%, followed by Black women at 8.4%. White women have the lowest unemployment rate at 5.7%.
Bitcoin’s massive rally comes to a halt
Bitcoin has been on a huge tear at the start of 2021. But over the weekend, some investors appeared to have second thoughts.
The latest: The cryptocurrency has plunged since Saturday to just below $35,000. That’s still more than 150% above where Bitcoin stood at the beginning of November, but well below highs near $42,000 reached late last week.
One driver could be the rise in US Treasury yields. The yield on the benchmark 10-year note is now above 1.1%, its highest level since last March. That puts pressure on assets that don’t generate extra income for investors.
A reminder: As Bitcoin investment goes mainstream, with greater interest from institutional investors like pension funds, regulators are warning it’s still an incredibly risky enterprise.
In a statement Monday, Britain’s Financial Conduct Authority said that investing in cryptocurrencies or related assets “generally involves taking very high risks with investors’ money.”
“If consumers invest in these types of product, they should be prepared to lose all their money,” the watchdog said.
Up next
The Consumer Electronics Show kicks off — all virtual this year, of course.
Coming tomorrow: Data on small business optimism could provide clues on how vulnerable firms view the latest wave of US Covid cases.
