The first image was part 3 in a series of images that this A-Jaller fellow made where Jaller is bribed by Takua into eating a Krana. (Like wouldn’t that give you barf seizures?) Takua is then bribed in this image to LITERALLY EAT THE AVOHKII!!!

Moon of Aqua Magna

I was taking a look at the moon of Aqua Magna to have another go at fitting it into my scientifically plausible Spherus Magna planetary system theory (which, in a bit of shameless self promotion, can be found here: https://www.tumblr.com/blog/view/rahiwatching/680418410119774208?source=share) and noticed something that might be of a small bit of interest to people.

So here is the image of the unnamed moon, taken from comic 15 - Secrets and Shadows:

Looks like a manipulated photo right? With some additional detail drawn on top on the left hand side. Comic artists often do that for images of astronomical bodies like this when they don’t need it to be an original design - they take an existing space image and edit it a bit. That’s what this is, but exactly what space image is not immediately recognizable.

Turns out it’s actually a picture of our Moon, just taken from a view not usually seen from Earth - the western hemisphere of the Moon, rather than the Earth-facing side we normally see.

I don’t know if this interests anyone else, but i thought it was kinda neat.

The other end of the spectrum from yesterday: the LAST Bionicle set of my "childhood."

"Childhood" in quotes, because I was, like, 23.

My Dark Age arrived with a long slide starting around 2004 but it was pretty much official when I moved from Canada to the States for grad school, and I sold off something like half to two-thirds of my sets to my little brothers.

Takanuva was the only Bionicle set I bought new after that, an impulse buy helped by him being on sale and me being somewhat sad, even in my Dark Age, that Bionicle had ended. I never had the original Takanuva (let alone the 08 titan), even though 2003 was the zenith of my fandom, so it was a bittersweet "well, at least I've got one now" moment for me, living abroad with a sharp break from my past.

I've never done much with him: he's always been on the edge, a canister opened once or twice a year, fiddles with, and put back--even since my Bionicle renaissance began. He's kind of comforting: a little candle who kept the fandom flame lit.

AU where immediately after grabbing the Kanohi Avohkii out of the lava Takua promptly fumbles, drops it again, trips while trying to catch it, and then proceeds to face plant directly onto the mask.

“But I can still compete in the kolhii match, right?” he asks, causing Jaller and Vakama to both just immediately facepalm themselves. Vakama resigns himself to substituting Kapura in his place; he either takes the entire match to move a single step or he does his quick travel thing and wins in under ten seconds.

Either way, Vakama is completely exasperated by the day’s events and 10000000% done.

Mask of Conjuring: I'm just going to copy what Biosector says, since it's really convoluted and complex; "The Mask of Conjuring is a Kanohi that allows its user to verbally program a limited power into the mask for a brief period of time. The user must describe in detail the power desired and at least one weakness. If the phrasing is spoken wrong, it causes intense psychic backlash in the user's mind. The user can use a programmed power for fifteen minutes (with a Great version), and after the time is out, the user must wait thirty seconds to activate the mask again. The Noble version will only work for five minutes. Another weakness is because it requires time and speech, any enemies nearby can hear in detail what power to expect and what its weakness is. Because of this, the usage of the mask is more commonly done alone. It is also capable of being programmed with the powers of other masks, such as the Kanohi Hau."

She was tricky but fun to build. This MOC is based on an older character of mine that I wanted to rebuild since I bought a glitter-clear Avohkii. I wanted to give her a rough, almost "leftover parts" kind of aesthetic, like a forgotten project of some Great Being. She's tribeless, friendless, and has never heard of the Toa code, but still approaches every day with a smile.

funny that Kopaka tells Takua and Jaller they were the ones following him through the snowstorm, while completely lost, just by following the Mask of Light through Ko-Wahi. the Avohkii really said "the next step in your journey is to bother this Ice Toa, go forth"

actually is practical and weirdly sweet that the mask was aware that Takua and Jaller would need protection from the Rahkshi and led them to Toa. I seem to remember the Toa Mata and the Avohkii were both made by Artakha. maybe the mask has some level of sentience like the Ignika, but to a lower extent.
