Note
Yo, need some help with the BB au's warrior code (working on the wiki). Cus 1-4 are confirmed from the history post, but what order are the rest of them in??
Oh this is actually something I've been meaning to get to. I swung over to the wiki page and I see you're working with a bundle of unconnected posts, and the REALLY old first draft-- it's waaay overdue that I make an update that also contains an official addressing of some of the biggest changes that have happened since then.
I'm gonna try to fix that for you now. Here's a rough draft of BB!Warrior Code 2.0, including snappier names and new thoughts for the associated stories.
I'm also trying to make each commandment more... sociological. In contrast to canon's code, I want these to be more open to interpretation, but also gesture at deeper social values that Clan cats have.
After all, it's the Warrior Code. I've always felt like it should have a similar vibe to chivalry or bushido, y'know? Not just a list of laws, but a "guide" to living as an honorable warrior.
(and, like chivalry and bushido, it's much less "inherently" noble than it seems, easily twisted into something destructive and only protecting other people in your caste.)
The plan here is that I'm going to post this in a rough state so you can get it on the Wiki, AND everyone can toss up input on this. When I feel satisfied, I'm gonna hit up Trout to make official Clanmew translations, and then I'm going to work with one/some of the artists in my spreadsheet to make this its own post.
So, the next time you see this will likely be a lot cleaner and have revisions.
IN SHORT:
Law of the Border "A Clan is the exclusive ruler of its domain; a Star is the exclusive ruler of its Clan. Borders are set to mark this land. To trespass is to offend the stars."
Law of Honor "An honorable warrior does not need to kill to win their battles, except when the foe is dishonorable or it is necessary for self-defense."
Law of the Deputy "The Star is to choose a responsible Deputy to rule alongside them who shall carry the starlight after their death. A Clan must never go past moonhigh without a Deputy appointed."
Law of Loyalty "Defend your Clan, even with your life. No love for an outsider shall outweigh your loyalty to your Clan."
Law of Priority / Prey Priority Privilege "An honorable warrior would starve before letting those they protect go hungry."
Law of Grace "StarClan is to be thanked for what it provides. To waste their blessings or blaspheme their light is treason against the Stars."
Law of Seasons "A kitten must see two seasons before it can become an apprentice. An apprentice must train for two seasons before it can become a warrior. A warrior should handle all four seasons alone before becoming a mentor."
Law of the Challenge / Right to Challenge "All warriors who bare a blessed name from StarClan are entitled to defend their honor. The right to challenge, or to accept a challenge in turn, shall not be infringed upon without reason."
Law of the Wild "A warrior rejects the soft life of a kittypet."
Law of the Cleric's Vow "A cleric who takes a mate or has kittens has violated their sacred vow, and must have their privilege of being StarClan's herald revoked."
Law of the Gathering / Full Moon Truce "Under the light of the full moon, all Clans shall send representatives to the Gathering to hear the news of the leaders. There will be a truce that lasts from sundown to sunrise, and attendance is a privilege."
Law of the First Tasks "Before an apprentice can receive their holy name by the power vested in their Star, first they must complete three sacred tasks; a warrior's assessment, a complete vigil, and a pilgrimage."
Law of the Leader's Right / Dalestar's Law / The Leader's Rights "By the power of the Star they carry, the word of a leader shall be recognized as the warrior code."
Law of the Three Kittens / Darkstar's Law / The Queen's Rights "No action, inaction, or accusation may ever allow a kit to be put in danger, no matter what Clan their parents were from. All queens shall have the right to not reveal the origin of their litter, even under suspicion of codebreaking."
Law of the Lake "Every Clan has the right to fight for its honor and independence, but the Clans of the lake shall never allow another to suffer or collapse. In dire times, all the cats of the lake understand their ancestral command; unite or die."
Law of Love / Bristlefrost's Law "If a cat wishes to walk alongside the warrior of another Clan, their beloved may ask their Star to issue a challenge to prove their new loyalty. If this challenge is overcome, their love shall be known as StarClan's will."
Law of Kickum Buttocks / Leader-B-Gone "girl help im still figuring out how I'm going to rewrite the new law about kicking out leaders. It is too long and too hyperspecific. There's absolutely no way for it to get legitimately used in canon, let alone be a relevant plot point."
If a previous post contradicts this one, assume this one overrules it. You can feel free to ask about it though! There's probably a reason I changed it, and I'll hear you out if you think an older version was stronger.
The Borbior Bode. I mean the BB!Warrior Code.
(Under the cut)
COMMANDMENT 1: Law of the Border "A Clan is the exclusive ruler of its domain; a Star is the exclusive ruler of its Clan. Borders are set to mark this land. To trespass is to offend the stars."
The legend goes that after the carnage of the First Battle, StarClan granted a fragment of a star to the leaders of the five Clans. This piece of a star is what legitimizes their right to the land they rule, so the leader is technically the owner of the Clan's domain and has authority over it.
In practice, this means that Clan leaders have the right to claim and control everything that is "part of their land," their domain. This usually refers to prey, but also includes herbs, goods, and even warriors with a holy, StarClan-ordained name that swear fealty to them.
Most often, this is the law that is cited to justify territory expansions, by changing borders. It also tends to come up in "economic" circumstances. When Onestar launched an embargo against ShadowClan during the Yellowcough Epidemic preventing mullein from being brought to them, he cited this law, because that herb only grows in WindClan moorland.
The intent behind this commandment is VERY different from its modern use. There were originally just two "commandments," this one and the Law of Honor, and it was essentially serving the purpose that later laws (namely 6, 8, 10 and 13) would more explicitly outline. Its purpose wasn't to put absolute power over territory into the paws of a leader, but to command the Clans to respect each other's autonomy.
In fact, the wording is weird to reflect that.
In Clanmew, the verb here for "trespass" is meant in the sense of "to disrespect," and which "stars" are being offended is unclear. It was originally meant religiously-- the angry ancestors who halted the First Battle would be offended if the Clans treated each other poorly. Over time, "the stars" came to be interpreted as offending the leader of the Clan, as in "issuing a challenge to them."
But its modern interpretation is all that matters, now. And it's widely accepted to mean "Leader owns everything in its Clan's borders, fight them if you don't like that."
COMMANDMENT 2: Law of Honor "An honorable warrior does not need to kill to win their battles, except when the foe is dishonorable or it is necessary for self-defense."
I'm considering rewording this one in a small but significant way because I have plans to play with the "dishonorable foe" clause. The ideologies of Fire Alone and Thistle Law clash over the philosophical idea of the Code's protection applying to outsiders at all, so I realized that I don't need to have "unless they are outside of the code" written into any specific commandment.
So, instead, this version would mention dishonorability. To invoke this commandment to kill is always an accusation, and to accept that it was used against your loved one means admitting they were "dishonorable." To be outside of the code, to be unable to contribute, or to be HalfClan could mean you're inherently dishonorable... if someone like Tigerstar wants an excuse to hurt you.
Unsure, though. I do like the wording of the canon commandment, "unless they are outside of the warrior code or it is necessary for self-defense." I do like the way that it says, right away, that they don't see outsider cats as being protected by this law. I like how weaselly it is.
COMMANDMENT 3: Law of the Deputy "The Star is to choose a responsible Deputy to rule alongside them who shall carry the starlight after their death. A Clan must never go past moonhigh without a Deputy appointed."
Developed as a result of the events of Riverstar's Heir. When King Riverstar passed away with the inheritance of the River Kingdom unclear, his oldest living biological son stepped forward to claim his "birthright." The son decided to throw a celebration before going to claim his lives, not knowing that there was a saboteur prepared to slip poison into his prey.
The cat who would have been considered Riverstar's "deputy" by modern standards, Flowers Come First, desperately tried to keep the Kingdom together as other cats tried to carve out claims to the leaderless land. After dozens were killed and injured in a civil conflict (sometimes called The Second Battle), the ShadowClan Cleric, Redscar, was called in as a mediator to determine the rightful leader.
But, before he determined that Flowerstar would lead next, it was ensured that all of the Clans would come together to accept this as a new law. To prevent this kind of succession crisis from ever occurring again.
(BB!ASC LOOMS IN THE DISTANCE)
This commandment was technically the first "addition" to the law, but at the time, it was considered the "birth" of the Warrior Code. Before this, it was more of a pair of principles from StarClan.
As a note; in the Clanmew, "Responsible" Deputy implies a warrior who has trained an apprentice or has raised children. I'm unsure if linguistic drift now means that HAS to be an apprentice or not, but there are probably historic cases where a Mi with a ton of grown kittens took power.
COMMANDMENT 4: Law of Loyalty "Defend your Clan, even with your life. No love for an outsider shall outweigh your loyalty to your Clan."
This law was famously introduced after Ryewhisker gave his life to defend his mate, Cloudberry, in a battle between their Clans. It's usually considered the first proper "addition" to the Warrior Code, but a real debate about if 3 or 4 is the first "amendment" would probably be considered a sort of pedantic argument by most.
(side funfact; In Clanmew there's a term for that. It's called a "Shineless Fight," or a "matte match." Basically a silly battle that doesn't invite attention from StarClan.)
Its ratification came even in spite of Cloudberry's heated opposition to it. The ancient practice of Kitten Stealing was born from this commandment, justified by ancient actions taken by Skystar during the Dawn Era. Cloudberry watched her kittens grow, inheriting a world far worse than the one she'd loved Ryewhisker in.
When she was reunited with her mate in death, they refused to be part of a StarClan cruel enough to support and approve of a law written to condemn their love. Without a moment's hesitation, the lovers fled into the Place of No Stars together, vowing that they would not rest in peace until the evil commandment was overturned.
They do even more than just that, too.
When cross-Clan mates need protection from discovery, the lovers will hide them from watchful eyes under the cover of yew branches. If the stars burn brightly to document the sins of forbidden friends, Cloudberry will cool them with rain while Ryewhisker bends the grass to guide them to safety. They are demons acting as guardian angels, for those who God has abandoned.
...Also, author's note, I've done rewording to this law. I'm trying to make sure all types of love (platonic, romantic, familial, plus the clan culture concepts for these) are equally important narratively. It's both something I care about as an artist, and also something I think makes the story better.
DIVERSITY WIN! Your queerplatonic cross-clan relationship is equally treasonous!
On that note, I also cut the "reassurance" from the law entirely. The canon law says "you may have friendships, but be careful because you might meet them in battle," to imply it's fine to just be friendly, but I feel like it fits BB better to just not explicitly spell that out. I generally think it's a better idea to stress how individuals interpret the law.
COMMANDMENT 5: Law of Priority "An honorable warrior would starve before letting those they protect go hungry."
In Clanmew, the wording will be closer to this; "The true warrior Wants before those they protect would Need," which means that the warrior's desires go unfulfilled if their "charges" have unmet needs. It applies very broadly to almost anything-- food, medicine, rest, tools, etc. It's not just about hunger, but it's been translated in a way to communicate its spirit to an English-speaking audience.
This does typically mean that kittens, elders, and the Cleric eat first, but it's also one of the laws that particularly noble warriors would repeat to themselves as a mantra. It stresses self-sacrifice in service of the weak. On the flip side, a more authoritarian cat can easily twist this code to accuse someone else of being dishonorable, if they're "taking" too much.
Full disclosure, this one's still pretty big WIP material. I haven't made a lot of progress on the origin story of this one, or what its sociological impacts were.
In fact, laws 5, 6, and 7 are WIP territory. They might get shuffled in order or reworded in the future, though their "spirit" is going to stay the same.
What I DO know about the Law of Priority's backstory is that it's probably not going to be born from a battle on Sunningrocks. Most of the canon equivalent law from COTC is actually going to get repurposed into BB!Darkstar's Commandment, and Commandment 11 by proxy. It's more likely I'll take a bunch of the spare ancient warriors and come up with some original big disaster that spurred it on.
COMMANDMENT 6: Law of Grace "StarClan is to be thanked for what it provides. To waste their blessings or blaspheme their light is treason against the Stars."
Also known as Dovestar's Law. Possibly one of the most prone to being interpreted in different lights between leaders. It's not a law explicitly requiring belief, but it does command religious performance from all Clan cats.
...which, functionally, does mean that cats like Cloudtail and Mothwing have always been pressured into taking part in rituals they don't want to be part of.
For example, when prey is killed, Cloudtail gets offended looks when he doesn't send a prayer to StarClan. If it wasn't for Ferncloud and Elderberry being so close to him, he might have been denied getting Ashpaw as an apprentice due to a refusal to swear a religious oath. Worse, if Bluestar hadn't been leader at the time, not pressing his nose to the Moonstone might have prevented him from becoming a warrior at all.
(as a personal note, as an atheist, ive always found the way that canon dances around acknowledging the destructive aspects of organized religion EXTREMELY frustrating. Especially in COTC, where it's mentioned that Dovestar wanted to codify a religious commandment but failed, and Leafpool smugly chuckles at the leader for being so surprised. It felt like such a "writer's mouthpiece" moment. girl it's a cult in the woods. you wrote scourge as an evil atheist. your cats have catholic guilt, just own it)
The second most important legal use of this law is to punish contact with the spirits of demons-- residents of the Place of No Stars. There are several forbidden techniques for utilizing the power of these spirits, namely "Channeling," the direct summoning of a spirit (as opposed to "Invoking," which is when StarClan as an entity is used as an "operator" to get in touch with an angel in its ranks).
Casually this is referred to as "witchcraft" or "forbidden magic."
But, in addition to being a religious law, it is also a law against overhunting and waste. Especially of "blessed" animals, such as bats and songbirds, which are considered downright sinful to kill. If you knowingly destroy beautiful things without a good reason, "wasting" a blessing, it's not JUST a sin, but a crime.
It's possibly one of the most relevant laws in the day-to-day lives of warriors. ShadowClan cats in particular take this VERY literally, believing that they should also try to salvage a use from ALL things they kill. Including badgers.
COMMANDMENT 7: Law of Seasons "A kitten must see two seasons before it can become an apprentice. An apprentice must train for two seasons before it can become a warrior. A warrior should handle all four seasons alone before becoming a mentor."
This commandment was worded and introduced by Daisytail, rallying all the parents of the Clans, to protect young cats from two battle hungry leaders who were foisting fights and responsibilities on those who physically could not be ready.
This story won't change much from its COTC equivalent, besides maybe adding an extra detail that young apprentices were being given to young warriors, less than two years old. A very young warrior might had never handled the season they're now training an apprentice in, leading to things like;
Being unable to identify thin ice
Not knowing how cold temperatures change how scent works
Unfamiliarity with hunting in snowy conditions
Lack of education on wintertime animal behavior
Ultimately though, the point of this law is simply to codify "minimums" of the age brackets. Most cats train longer than that, and they are strictly grouped socially.
In fact, because of the fact these cats age so rapidly during their first year and then "slow down" afterwards, "rank" is a LOT more important socially than chronological age.
As an example, Reedwhisker has a nightmarish, two-year-long apprenticeship due to mentor abuse. He was considered an apprentice in age that entire time. Having an extended mentorship is literally like being forced to stay a teenager. This is as hellish as it sounds.
Overall though, for BB, this commandment is going to be a lot more relevant for the mentor/apprentice aspects instead of "early apprentice" infractions. Even the most evil, short-sighted leader can realize that getting kids killed before they turn into adult soldiers is self-defeating.
One of the more notorious changes of BB is the fact Brokenstar isn't going to be using child soldiers. What he DOES do is approve of Runningnose's plan to murder a blind kitten so that they can frame Shroompelt for it, exiling her as Yellowfang and FINALLY getting her out of the way so they can commit a massacre against WindClan.
(still evil just a different kind of evil <3)
I've been really wishy-washy on what happened with Badgerfang specifically, because I didn't want to eliminate the tragic story beat of a young life being wasted. But I've finally decided what I'm going to do. Badgerfang was just a fresh apprentice, nothing special, nothing "illegal," just like all of the other adolescents who took part in that battle.
I don't think he should have to be legally too young for it to be absolutely horrific that a kid was killed during the invasion of someone else's home. He was the equivalent of a 13-year-old and he was gored by someone who was confused and terrified in the middle of the night, bleeding to death in his uncle's paws.
For Flintfang, in that moment, it has nothing to do with recommitting himself to the "warrior code," but realizing that the only way this madness stops is if someone puts an end to it.
COMMANDMENT 8: Law of the Challenge "All warriors who bare a blessed name from StarClan are entitled to defend their honor. The right to challenge, or to accept a challenge in turn, shall not be infringed upon without reason."
Attempting to stop a war from breaking out between ThunderClan and WindClan, the ancient leader Morningstar prevented his warriors from fighting back against Rabbitstar's border transgressions. Furious and offended that they could not prove themselves in battle, his cats came to resent him. After skirmish and sickness lead to the "honorless" death of several cats including his deputy, the Cleric, Pearnose, lead a revolt against him.
Morningstar was branded a coward by StarClan, deemed unworthy of joining their ranks and sent to the Place of No Stars to wallow in his misery. Afterwards, Pearstar gained her nine lives, beloved by ThunderClan and blessed by StarClan, and her decree was made into code.
This law is being invoked when a warrior mentions their "right to challenge." As a quirk of the wording, it's also widely accepted that an official challenge involves saying your opponent's full name, to get the attention of StarClan.
"without reason" is another one of those little clauses that gives a leader wiggle room when they need it. Legitimate "reason" to cancel a challenge includes the full moon truce, promise to allow the battle at a more appropriate date, or the fight being shineless or dishonorable to begin with. Still, leaders are rarely eager to get compared to Morningstar, so there's a lot of social pressure to not infringe the right.
The Clans culturally value the idea that "might makes right," and this commandment is both a result of, and a contributor to it. A LOT of small-scale quibbles over aspects of the Warrior Code end up being resolved by an invocation of the Right to Challenge, because trying to argue with a warrior that they're wrong about how they interpreted the code is easily interpreted as an attack on their honor.
COMMANDMENT 9: Law of the Wild "A warrior rejects the soft life of a kittypet."
During the destruction of SkyClan's historic territory in the White Hart Woods, Flystar witnessed many of his warriors turning to humans and the town to live double lives. In response, he started very strictly enforcing the warrior code, believing that if his Clan lived more piously, this would stop the destruction.
it did not work. Old Man Flystar died and left Cloudstar as a young leader, desperately keeping SkyClan together in its exile. Even death did not stop him from honoring his vow.
...But the Forest Four did not care. The amendment that Flystar suggested for the warrior code was born from his need to discourage his warriors from leaving, but it was approved because of shared cultural hatred for human beings. The destruction of SkyClan's territory just made an existing problem much, much worse.
During the Crusade Era, this law was invoked to justify violent invasions into Chelford. During other eras, it makes cats hesitate to take food from humans, or even interact with kittypets at all.
It's also a very weird translation; in Clanmew, this is the "Law of the Unbunched Scruff." It could also be translated as "Law of the Uncollared Neck" or "Law of a Free Nape." It's referring to the back of the neck being unburdened by a collar, but it's also REALLY common for little kits to learn about this law and immediately start using it to protest their Mi carrying them back to the nest for bedtime.
This was also the last law to be introduced before SkyClan's exile! Modern SkyClan has complicated feelings on if this one should be respected as part of their "version" of the code.
ALSO;
I've so far kept it as short and simple as canon, but I'm thinking of making it longer to match the others. I can't find the right words for it, though-- something about "A warrior rejects the soft life of a kittypet, and resists the deceitful temptation of humans" or "and remains vigilant for the tricks of man"
I want to capture the vibe of Flystar trying to convince his warriors that humans are liars, and any gifts they give you will actually make you weak. Part of me is trying to avoid wording the commandment in a way that could result in people thinking Firepaw himself is a "trick of man," but maybe I should just lean into it instead.
COMMANDMENT 10: Law of the Cleric's Vow "A cleric who takes a mate or has kittens has violated their sacred vow, and must have their privilege of being StarClan's herald revoked."
Moth Flight did not create the vow to be ratified as code. It was a desperate, painful oath she made her four kittens make before they were taken away from her to become the first Clerics of the other Clans.
She made them promise her that they would not have children of their own who would be ripped away from them. It was a mother's plea, to spare them from the pain she was experiencing, to encourage them to value medicine over connections to a Clan that stole them, and to punish the Clans for treating their bloodline like something that would produce prophets like livestock.
Their gifts would die with them, and all future Clerics would be trained, not born. The Cleric's Vow was a non-binding tradition for generations, until the exile of SkyClan.
Larkstripe, Cleric of WindClan, rallied the other Clerics into going on strike until the leaders reversed their terrible decision. Swiftstar stubbornly refused to give into this demand, even when sickness landed him on his deathbed. She remained firm, informing him that he was free to gamble with his life if he wanted to face StarClan's judgement.
His successor, Dalestar, sought a way to brutally crush the strike. So he hit Larkstripe at her one weakness-- her son, Ripplekit.
With the ringleader's reputation destroyed and her son ripped away from her and sent to ShadowClan, the other Clerics quickly folded. Dalestar got his way, and was celebrated for it.
This commandment doesn't have too many unique interpretations, though there are occasionally interesting cases where Clerics have kittens before taking their vow. While it's a "gray zone," kittens who are the child of a parent-turned-Cleric are sometimes considered cursed or unlucky.
(contrast to SkyClan where it is actually considered a plus for a Cleric to have kittens.)
COMMANDMENT 11: Law of the Full Moon "Under the light of the full moon, all Clans shall send representatives to the Gathering to hear the news of the leaders. There will be a truce that lasts from sundown to sunrise, and attendance is a privilege."
Taken from Larkstripe and raised at the belly of Birdflight, mate of the exiled Cloudstar, Ripplekit grew into Ripplemoon and became Ripplestar of ShadowClan. Spurred into action by a blight that was spreading up the now-dead fifth tree of Fourtrees, he declared war on the other Clans. "If you will not make room to fetch SkyClan home, then I will carve it out."
Before this time, the Gathering was simply a tradition, not code, but Ripplestar's deadly total war tactics recognized it as an excellent target. Attempting to bring a swift end to his bloody campaign, he planned an attack that would surely have many innocent casualties.
However, he was betrayed by his adopted brother; Gorseclaw. The other Clans were prepared for his attack, bringing nothing but warriors to the Gathering. In fury at Ripplestar's audacity, having lost the SkyClan ancestors who would have supported these actions, StarClan struck the base of the blighted tree with lightning. The falling trunk crushed Ripplestar against the Highrock and snapped the oak in two distinct places; at the base, and in the middle.
The Z-shaped cracks would be seen again many years later, as Brokenstar's tail. The guardian spirit of SkyClan, incarnated in the flesh through a birth from a Cleric, furious and manifest.
But, before that time, there was an immediate "Clan Pride Tide" that washed over the culture of those who won. The Law of the Full Moon was the first of three additional Commandments born from Dalestar and his peers during this time.
There are three significant "rules" to Gatherings that were established by this law;
The leader may arbitrarily exclude any cat they don't want to bring. Before this commandment, you could just go. Now, the most freedom you have is your ability to linger longer for the Aftergathering.
It is mandatory to completely listen to the "opening speeches" of Gatherings before you're allowed to mingle. Even if grandma mistystar is going off on a tangent again
The truce is now enforceable. It was previously just a taboo-- scuffles would break out now and then, and there was the occasional playfighting match. Now, you can't even get heated at another cat without people getting uncomfortable.
COMMANDMENT 12: Law of the First Tasks "Before an apprentice can receive their holy name by the power vested in their Star, first they must complete three sacred tasks; a warrior's assessment, a complete vigil, and a pilgrimage."
The second law to come from the post-Ripplestar tide was more codification of traditions, to "instill a sense of pride and honor into young warriors," but these were also a sneaky way to weed out dissidents.
Apprentices would typically do these tasks naturally as part of their rite of passage, but now, if ANY of the cats involved in this process did not like you or your mentor, they could hurt you by delaying them. A leader could choose not to bring you with them to the Moonstone. They could force you to re-do the vigil for making a noise. A vindictive mentor could keep flunking your assessment for stupid reasons because she hates you.
Bad mentors "poorly preparing" an apprentice they have a duty to guide into adulthood is good grounds for punishment. It's a massive dishonor to have an apprentice taken from you. Of course, this all depends on the Clan "taking the side" of the tormentor.
So, this is rarely used for political reasons in more recent eras, because of that potential collateral reputation hit. Making an apprentice's right of passage difficult for no reason tends to make you unpopular with that apprentice's friends, family, mentor, and peers-- but it served its purpose, back then.
Nowadays it's just celebrated as a part of Clan traditions. The First Tasks are much older than the Commandment, but most cats don't think so hard about history that they notice it's strange they got codified during this era.
(Plus, this commandment is popular. Apprentices and their families feel cheated if these first tasks are glossed over.)
COMMANDMENT 13: Law of the Leader's Right "By the power of the Star they carry, the word of a leader shall be recognized as the warrior code."
The big, bad one. Also called Dalestar's Commandment.
With this decree, the Clan leaders announced an exile of all the cats who had been revealed to support Ripplestar. ShadowClan's next leader, Marshstar, was made to deal with an immediate refugee crisis on top of overseeing the injuries of all the cats who fought at that Gathering.
It's the sort of law that would be considered a massive mistake within a few generations, but by that time, it was too entrenched to remove. The leaders had seized power over anything that could legally challenge them-- the Code, their Clerics, and their warriors in turn.
Only the rule of the Impostor would cause this part of the code to be altered, but not before the Clans nearly collapsed under his tyranny.
Future generations would look back at the fallout of Ripplestar's rebellion, and the following tide of Clan pride, and generally reach a consensus; this was the birth of the ideas which would become known as Thistle Law. Maybe it wasn't their origin, and contributing thoughts had existed for a long time beforehand, but this was the watershed moment for what would develop into modern Clan politics.
COMMANDMENT 14: Law of the Three Kittens "No action, inaction, or accusation may ever allow a kit to be put in danger, no matter what Clan their parents were from. All queens shall have the right to not reveal the origin of their litter, even under suspicion of codebreaking."
Famously referred to as Darkstar's Commandment, and cited as the Queen's Rights. Put a decisive end to the barbaric practice of Kitten Stealing. Drafted, fought for, and codified in honor of Mapleshade's three children who drowned in the swollen river.
StarClan was so furious at the sheer amount of senseless death in one season that they blasted Darkstar with lightning to drag her into StarClan to witness the Trials of those who had died. They made her watch as Ravenwing, Frecklewish, Appledusk, AND Mapleshade were all damned to the Dark Forest, and bellowed that her and Oakstar would fix it or suffer the same fate.
She listened and proposed this law. Oakstar did not, and fought against its implementation. He tried to make up for this by beginning the Crusades, but this wasn't enough to "atone" for his disobedience.
Darkstar ruled that the birth of innocent kits shall could never be used as evidence of guilt, because of the fact it would inevitably put those same kittens in danger.
It was StarClan's privilege alone to judge if the behavior that lead to the conception of those kittens was codebreaking or not. Flawed mortals, such as Mapleshade who lied to keep her kittens safe and only endangered them through panic, and Oakstar who exiled children into the rain because of personal offense leading to bias, could not be trusted to be objective about this.
That said-- the Queen's Rights are a very complicated and particular topic. They exist to protect the kitten's birth from being used as evidence; they do NOT protect the family from any consequence of their actions. There are lots of ways for the Queen's Rights to be voided.
If the kids find out their parentage and reveal it, it's void. If a cat who recently gave birth shows the kits are theirs, it's void. If you let it slip that you acquired the kitten from your sister who wants you to raise it as a Clan cat, it's void.
And, no, you can't even safely talk to your Cleric. They are within their full rights to reveal it, too. There is no Cat HIPAA. Whoever you trust with this information had BETTER BE someone you trust with your life, because they might be!
Cats who lean towards Fire Alone think that the Queen's Rights don't go far enough. Cats who lean towards Thistle Law are obsessed with the contradictions.
COMMANDMENT 15: Law of the Lake "Every Clan has the right to defend its independence and to fight for its honor, but the Clans of the lake shall never allow another to suffer or collapse. In dire times, all the cats of the lake understand their ancestral command; unite or die."
First proposed in response to the disastrous lack of response that allowed the rise of the Kin, a deadly Yellowcough outbreak, and the eventual collapse of ShadowClan, this commandment was approved without contest when SkyClan found its way to the Lake.
It's both a promise to SkyClan that what happened to them will never happen again, AND a somber acknowledgement that what happened to ShadowClan was avoidable if they'd only intervened sooner. Heartstar takes this commandment VERY seriously.
Too seriously, many add. Perhaps more out of ambition than compassion. But she doesn't care-- they weren't the ones suffocating in their own lungs watching their family die, as Onestar sat on a hill of medicine across the lake, glowering. Perhaps they should take it more seriously.
COMMANDMENT 16: Law of the Lovers / Bristlefrost's Law "If a cat wishes to walk alongside the warrior of another Clan, their beloved may ask their Star to issue a challenge to prove their new loyalty. If this challenge is overcome, their love shall be known as StarClan's will."
AKA Bristlefrost's Law, created in her honor after sacrificing her Afterlife to barrel Ashfur out of the sky, burning up in orbit.
In life, Bristlefrost was innocently meeting with Rootspring. Two warriors with a small crush, breaking the code discreetly during a time of increasing tension. When Bramblestar's impostor caught them, he decided to make an example of the couple. Brought Bristlefrost to the Gathering, and demanded that SkyClan strongly punish Rootspring to comply with the code.
Waspstar of SkyClan, successor of Leafstar after her poisoning at Juniperclaw's tricks, refused. So the impostor lifted his claw, and sliced Bristlefrost's neck. Her body plunged from the tree, dead in an instant.
With her ghost, Rootspring joined the resistance to depose him immediately. After her sacrifice, he demanded reforms for the code and a new commandment in her honor. It was not as sweeping of a change as he wanted it to be, but with the Law of the Lovers, there was finally a mechanism to bring another cat into your own Clan.
It could have saved her, he argues. He could have taken her out of that dangerous Clan, gotten her away from the Impostor, convinced her to run.
(...the truth is, Bristlefrost would never have run from ThunderClan. Not until the bitter end. She wouldn't just die twice for her family, but even more than nine if she had the chance. but this was the leverage that Rootspring was able to use.)
AUTHOR'S NOTE: I keep going back and forth on the "love" wording of this one. On one hand, I like the idea a lot that Clan cats will have to perform friendship or love even if it isn't there to "legally" change Clans as a story device. I enjoy the idea of exploring that, and how it would be particularly messed up in an asylum scenario.
On the other hand... I'm not really using "love" in the romantic sense here, and "sponsor" is both closer to what I'm intending, AND the Clanmew version. By "beloved" I mean it equally in the sense of both an aunt and their "beloved" niece, and a lover and their traditional "beloved." But I'm not sure if that's coming across.
Is there a better word for "Sponsor" but like, in a warm and affectionate sense? Legal Buddy? Guy Who Will Vouch For Me? Sweet Cheese? Not to mention there just not being platonic words equal to "lover." The amatonormativity of the English language has harmed me once again
Law of Kickem Buttocks / Leader-B-Gone "girl help im still figuring out how I'm going to rewrite the new law about kicking out leaders. It is too long and too hyperspecific. There's absolutely no way for it to get legitimately used in canon, let alone be a relevant plot point."
I know FOR SURE that the first time this law is going to be used in BB, it is against Bramblestar in ASC. He's declining, manipulating Nightheart to use in a petty squabble against Squirrelflight, and suffered two massive blows to his reputation in both Squirrelflight's Horror and BB!TBC.
But the canon law is so specific that it's useless. Like, it may as well not even exist.
A non-deputy needs to call the vote
BOTH medcats have to agree
AANNDD you need a 75% supermajority in the Clan.
FINALLY, the other leaders, of Clans that are completely irrelevant, are asked if it's ok and ALL of them have to agree.
only THEN can all of the medcats of ALL the Clans go to StarClan, and ask if the lives can be taken away.
If the sky is cloudy then screw you. you have to wait even longer. Even if your Clanmates are getting murdered or tortured or whatever.
This frustrates me because, this is a MASSIVE change to the Warrior Code, something the audience has been desperate for. Drama in this series has practically dried up, and barely anything happens for books and books.
To make such a long-awaited addition be something this useless feels like an insult. Like they just begrudgingly did the bare minimum so they could ignore it. Even the "drama" of Reedclaw trying to oust Leafstar in CC was pointless, because if the writers were just less boring with their characters, she could have called for that vote all on her own.
"Ah but the code--" characters are capable of arguing that laws are ineffective and drastic measures need to be taken. Other characters can agree with them. it's that simple. Law is a social construct, not a wizard's magic barrier
Like. It could be that easy. Reedclaw doesn't want to physically harm Leafstar so she calls for a vote of no confidence. Cats quibble about if it's "legal" or not, Hawkwing proposes that it be 75% supermajority because then it would be extremely clear this is the will of SkyClan, etc. This would also be more interesting because then it's not established, it's new ground.
BUT. For BB I do want it to be law. Just a law that actually gets used.
So right now I'm leaning towards something like;
"If a leader is no longer able to rule with honor by their Clan's three-quarter decree, the Star shall undergo a ritual to return their blessings. This ritual must be both invoked by a cleric and a warrior, and then carried out by them if successful."
I still feel like three-quarters is a tall order, but I think I can work with it. At the very least, I can remove the requirement for ALL the Clerics to be in agreement.
I'm particularly fond of the idea of the idea that the two accusers have to carry out the WHOLE thing. The Cleric performs the parts of the ritual that would "wash" the lives away from the Leader, and the Warrior performs the parts of the ritual that would allow the Deputy to take them early. Overall, I think it would be generally better if the "difficulty" of enacting this commandment came from the fact the Cleric and the Warrior have to be EXTREMELY dedicated to it.
Like, instead of dealing with a lot of waiting and asking, if you want them gone, you have to do something very tedious with no reward.
As for what that ritual looks like, I want to reference BB!Rowanstar's sacrifice. The leader will probably have to bathe or be rinsed by the water of the Moonpool, and the deputy gets dunked in that.

Alright gamers!!!
So that direct was crazy they present the switch 2 and so much interesting games!
Of course the classic Mario kart, donkey kong, Kirby etc
Updates of botw and totk (missing opportunity to have the dlc include for the same price... but hey 2 save slots now?! yooo) anyway I'm not a fan of paid upgrades so yeah. But maybe it is worth it.
Then WE'RE GETTING OUR TOTK HYRULE WARRIORS WITH ZELDA LET'S GOOO!!! I think we lot of fans did anticipated this! I wasn't sure they were really going to make it but I'm glad! One more game with my dearest blorbos😭 omg I might have got a sign! A couple of days ago I had a dream with totk Link and Zelda! (they were so sweet too 🥺) Maybe it was a sign XD
DELTARUNE IN 2 MONTHS LETS GOOOOOOO!!!! Cannot wait
Hollow knight too omg. Never give top believing guys! (I played hollow knight just once at a friend place, I need to play it properly. All my friends are waiting for it XD)
Gamecube games too hello?? (on online subscriptions of course... let me just buy your game come on!!!! I got alttp on ds wdym I need a subscription to play it on switch?! I want to pay you!) But true question is Shadow the Hedgehog 2005 is going to be on it?! XD For real I manage to buy it today (gamecube edition) bc yes my Wii can play gamecube games; And I am coming back home for my vacations. Will I be able to finish it 10 times and test sonic heroes before going back in just 20 days? XD
So Fromsoftware is going release Elden Ring on switch 2 too. This is insane. Who would have believe. Also welcome back Lucatiel ❤️
And of course how could I forget DUSKBLOODS!!!! This is insane wow. Big W for Fromsoftware damn. It has Bloodborne and vilebloods vibes, but also steampunk elements, medieval fantasy too, weird ass monsters XD freaking dinosaur too?! Tier/Drakengard weird horror too? x) I'm really curious. Also red moon glass SPOTTED. (But let's be real it's as a sequel to bb as bb or dark souls are sequel to demon's souls. For now at least)
A bit concerned too because it's a p v p v e BUT maybe it will be like nightreign? I have a guess... and I hope I'm right. But you see Muti in soulsborne is very limited right? Not possible to do the entire game with smn. There's a mod in elden ring that do smt similar but in fromsoftware games it's always limited. Maybe they are testing things so for their next big game, maybe playing in full multi will be an option that actually work? Maybe the game play alone very well too.
Maybe they had this type of ideas in the work since a while. I don't think they would just do "mainstream" type of games just bc elden ring help open up to people. Apparently Friday we'll have more news about the game!
As for other negative aspect I mentioned in my other post, yeah it is sadly quite expensive... a video games.. also some cartridges will have just a code to download the game... which ones isn't clear but I hope it will be a minority.
I was just saying the other day I wouldn't probably get it this year anyway x) I will think about it for later and wait to know more! But hopefully the future will be brighter than darker.

Someone posted on Oliver’s birthday message on instagram (the official 911 one) that the video was “buddie coded” and I snorted with laughter because the only part that has eddie is him saying “that’s not a good motto” and literally nothing else has to do with him at all. What are they seeing??
I.... I don't know 🤨🤣.
I don't see how a video that's literally been put up to celebrate Oliver is something they can tie into buddie. I try really hard to be nice about it all when it comes to their ship, but there's a lot of grasping at straws in that group. And a lot of the theories are something I don't fully understand (granted I don't deep dive to try and understand them, either).
I'm all for people shipping who they ship, even when that ship is unlikely to ever happen. As I've stated before, I was among those in the Suits fandom who wanted Mike and Harvey to happen. Maybe we were/are spoiled because Patrick and Gabe still like each other and are still willing to work together (such as the t-mobile commercials this year). But the fact that every little thing that happens in this fandom leads to them saying "well it means this!!" is baffling to me. Their breadcrumbs that they say lead to an endgame just lead me in a circle. I'm all for them having their ship. I'm even all for them writing about it. Lord knows I've written plenty of Marvey fics, and also wrote plenty of SVU fics looooonnnggg before E/O started to become canon with the return of Stabler. But when you think it's okay to give hate or insults to another group for liking a canonically happening couple, that's what gets to me. Especially when it's taken into consideration that a number of us are in the #lgbtq community.
I can understand wanting your ship, and hating the things that come between that ship from happening. But if your vitriol is so poisonous that you're becoming a keyboard warrior against other people on the internet just trying to take part in something they enjoy (OR sending that vitriol to the person who's literally only being paid to play a role), then there needs to be some serious consideration on what's actually driving those feelings of inadequacy.
Anyway, you asked a simple question and I rambled 🤣. But that's what I have to say on the subject. And also, happy birthday bb Oliver!

I hope you feel better soon! Being sick sucks ass
The scene you painted with the death of Warriors’ guide hurt so much I hate you I’m screaming and dying at the same time
Thank you BB!
Also I'm about to do it again <3
Warnings: Slight mention of blood, mentions of death, another angst piece
"Abandon ship! Make way to the dinghies!"
The flames burned, the embers flying off into the starry night as the fire ate away at the wood of the grande ship. It was something from a painting the way that the orange blazed, reflecting off the dark waters and colouring the black sky for yards around- almost beautiful as it was tragic.
Link wasn't sure what to do. No, he didn't have clue as he watched the crew run about like headless chickens, gathering any supplies they could that would be hauled back to New Hyrule that was a mere dot in the far distance.
Tetra was in a similar state, frozen by his side, a mixture of horror and sadness plastered on her young face as she witnessed the scene unfold- the young hero knew that guilt was eating at her conscious, spotting the fallen mates within puddles of their own blood just beside the remains of monsters, left behind after poofing from existence.
She hadn't done enough- he hadn't done enough-
And now (Name)'s ship was paying the price.
"Make sure those boxes reach the mainland!" They barked, blood running down their forehead as they tugged their right hand man close by their hook hand, "The country needs those supplies- and by the goddess they will get them!"
"Yes, Captain!"
(Name)'s gaze snapped towards the two, pushing the right hand away towards another hanging dinghie before hobbling quickly towards them, their peg leg creating a dull thump each time it met the wood of the planked floor. "You two! Haul arse! Get on those boats!"
Reality seemed to hit Tetra harshly when (Name) grabbed her shirt's scruff roughly, right and crying out. She refused. This wouldn't be it. She would continues to fight- she would not let their ship come to pass!
But the captain wasn't having that, tossing her into one of the boats with a few more members and demanding they left- screamed that they get away.
Their teary eyes were ignored as they slowly lowered themselves, Tetra's raged screaming dimming from the roar of the fire.
Link looked at them with wide, glossy eyes as they stomped back over. "Did you not here me, Link?! I said move!"
His scruff was grabbed this time, the younger teen being dragged towards another boat, this time only holding their right hand as he waited patiently for his next orders.
Link was thrown in after a second, secured by the hand of the older man when he tried to leap back out. "What about you?! There's nothing left for this boat!"
The young blonde already knew this answer of course. It was near law, written into the code of the pirates that Tetra and many others had seemed to parrot when he questioned those clashing tales of those cut-throat captains meeting such timely deaths on the decks of their ships.
"A captain will always go down with their ship!" Pulling out their trusty sword, (Name) slashed at the ropes holding up the small boat. "Let them know I died loyal to her, hero!"
They watched from afar as the sea swallowed the ship, the orange earlier dusting the sky slowly fading until only the lights of the stars reflected off those waters of midnight blue. Their crew bowed their heads in respect, sending blessings to their captain's ocean burial before they would begin to move to the shores of New Hyrule.
It was the last they would ever see of Capatin (Name), Guide to the great Hero Link.
And you couldn't help but lend out your hand towards the young pirate, his lip wobbling slightly with eyes growing misty before you pulled him to rest against your shoulder. You cooed, gently running a hand through his hair and hushing his heavy cries.
It seemed death followed all the incarnations that those men held so dearly.

Clan Politics
Bonefall comes up with such good names for things, you guys should also follow them if you aren't already. Seriously! Their Better Bones redo is so good! BB!Heartstar and BB!Brokenstar are my blorbos (actually I'm pretty sure they all are). This was a tad intimidating because a lot of my ideas either overlap or were inspired by Better Bones. Also, I haven't attended a political class in like 9 years.
What @bonefall calls Thistle Law would meet its WCR Equivalent, Tiger Law/Tiger's Law (because Tigerstar is an uncreative dickhead) OR more Eloquently Put by Leopardstar, The Law of Tigers. Started by Clear Sky, revived by Thistleclaw and expanded by Tigerclaw, this is the ideology that gets cats hurt. The unsustainable, ego driven law that drips with blood. This is fascism.
Not as far as Tiger Law, but not very free itself, is Codeism, or, Law of The Wild. The Warrior Code should be thought about in every situation no matter what, and cats outside the Clans* do not fall under that protection. This can be used for good and bad. Not every Codeist is a xenophobic bigot, as Rowanstar was one, and tried his best to both follow the Code, and be as helpful to others as possible. Ashfur used it to hurt others, and prined Hollyleaf to be almost the same way until she realized where that path could lead. It's complicated and messy, but hey, that's politics for you.
* aside from kits. Kittens are the future, not just for the Clans, but for Cats themselves. Many cats in Clan history have been found in the woods or given up by parents to the Clans. Some lost kits have been returned to parents as well.
The Third is Fire Law, the ideology that Firestar created, he wanted to call it The Law of Cleansing Fire but Sandstorm told him it was a mouthful, maybe keep that to an unofficial title. It is about freedom of choice, extending kindness towards others, challenging the Warrior Code if it does not help in a situation, and doing what is good for as many cats as possible. Forward thinking and long term thinking, doing things, not for yourself, but for those who will only know you from memories long after you are gone.
The other 2 are Skyclan exclusive, though as of River, some notions of Sky Law are starting to leak.
The Fourth is, of course, Sky Law! Made for Skyclan and expanded by Leafstar. It is welcoming of outsiders, allowing for Daylight Warriors, Medicine Cats to have mates, development of new roles and systems with an emphasis on creativity, justice, and coexistence. This does not mean rolling over and allowing others to take advantage of you, of course, but the goal is finding peace through making treaties and alliances.
The Fifth is... Sharp Law. Created by Sharpclaw in retaliation against Leafstar. Exclusionary, though NOT meant to be deadly. While this Law also allows for more "radical" things, like allowing Medicine Cats to have mates (because Firestar never bothered telling Skyclan that it was banned at all) it DOES NOT allow for Daylight Warriors. It demands full loyalty to Skyclan full time. It also pushes all cats (within reason) to have battle training, to expand through pure strength and muscle. It isn't full blown fascism, but... S'not great, captain.

I've introduced a friend of mine to KH for the first real time and they're fucking *adoring* it. Like they absorbed some through osmosis, leading to funny moments ("Oh, this is Roxas? I thought he'd be an organization guy cuz of the X") but it's been a genuine fucking blast so far
I'm 100%ing the games as she plays through them on Steam, and for the first time I've gotten the Ultima Weapon in KH1 and beat all the superbosses (Sephiroth and the Unknown are tough but like, at level 90 with Ultima they really aren't THAT hard). I've got a few more achievements before I've fully 100%'d KH1, and then I'm going to probably move on to CoM
Also, below the cut are some of the really funny things she's said/done in no particular order so far (she's halfway through her first round of BbS at the moment)
She DID cry during KH1's ending, and did get weepy at the end of KH2, but DIDN'T cry during Xion's death??? Insane to me
She has taken to calling DiZ "Delicious in Zungeon", and also calls him DiZ more than Ansem, which honestly? Fair, fuck that guy
Didn't know Pride Lands was a world and was SOOOO EXCITED for "Warrior Cats Sora". Less excited for Lion Pete
Also hates that I keep calling KH2 Pete "Pussy Zipper Pete" and said it was brave that BbS Pete didn't have his "pussy zipper" in the Captain Justice outfit
HATES 100 Acre Wood, but can't say it in chat because my partner is usually there and my partner fucking loves Pooh
Also hates Disney Town lmfao, which, warranted
They beat Kh1 Sephiroth about 6 times in a row after the first win as "a victory lap" because it was so empowering
Eventually learned to cheese CoM with Firaga/Blizzaga and plowed through Sora's side before getting to Riku's and giving up, watching the cutscenes
ALMOST 100%'d KH2, the only things she didn't do were Data Xemnas, Data Demyx, and Mushroom VIII. FUCK Mushroom 8, all my homies hate Mushroom 8
Says that BbS is her favorite game so far mostly due to Aqua, but also just all the insane lore drops.
When Aqua meets Kairi, kept going "why is that baby so kairi coded" until she said she was kairi and had to pause the game for a while
Saw the KH2 secret ending and insisted that the bald guy was "Bald Xehanort", which I gaslit her into thinking wasn't true until he reveals he's Xehanort in BbS and she yelled at me
I gaslight her a lot with these games by telling her she's 50% right with half of her predictions, and then usually telling her she's wrong when she's actually right
There was a moment in the 358 movie where she was like "Oh my god. Xion is just Namine, she's Namine trying to infiltra-" and then the scene cut to one of the only cutscenes with DiZ and Nami and was like "...oh. Well."
DID actually call that Xion was a replica about halfway through, she kept saying that they "transed Repliku's gender", though
We keep saying she's a god gamer because she clutches a lot of fights that are BIZARRE for her to clutch right away, like, she beat KH1 Ansem!Riku first try??? And keeps insisting he's not hard and I wanna beat her with hammers
Anyway she's very funny and I'll keep this post updated with achievement progress and her stupid antics as well. She hasn't clocked Vani's voice yet, so I'm REALLY excited for that drop, she's been pausing a lot in BbS to freak out

Chat. Chat I finally finished code Lyoko. No I'm not gonna watch the evolutions stuff no matter how pretty the animation looks. Why am I talking about it here? Well. Code Lyoko inspired au anyone? Very very rough draft lol. I don't even know how serious I'll take this outside of my own personal fun.
Area Zero - Honestly still name impending, but this is what's gonna the digital world is gonna be called.
Penny - As I said before ( i think so anyway) is the one behind the super computer. I'm not completely sure if she's the one that finds Arven first or Luca, but she makes it her goal to help get Arven out.
Luca - If not Penny, then he was the one that found Arven. One of the people who goes in Area Zero to fight.....whatever the equivalent of Xana is in Au. Arguably what keeps the group together before they all truly become friends.
R.B - Still a childhood friend of Arven that moved before he went missing. Bitter by how their friendship ended, but doesn't like the idea of him being stuck in Area Zero forever. While not as tech savvy as Penny, she's still the optimal option when Penny isn't at the super computer.
Nemona - Class president at their school and ever so cheery, if a tad dense. Eventually becomes an Area Zero warrior like Luca and R.B. Loves the digital world, mostly bc she gets to move around so much without losing stamina like she does in the real world ( in the real world though, getting devirtualized kinda hits her harder). She's the groups best fighter by far.
Arven - Stuck in Area Zero for the majority of his life, even growing up there, Arven now requires the help of Luca and the others to boy only save his dearest friend ( Mabosstiff, who I don't know if he would be a pokemon or something else), but also prevent whatever the fuck his mom created from destroying the world. He's pretty much key to stopping it, but can't do it alone.
Prof Sada - The one who created the super computer, along side her ex-husband, Turo. After Turo left and went off the grid, and the government sending agents to go after her work, Sada decided the best option was to digitalize herself, Arven and Mabosstiff into their own paradise, where they'll be safe forever (hm. Maybe the digital world should be called Paradise? Maybe a certain sector of it?). Of course, something goes wrong, and Sada is forced to hide herself within the depth of Area Zero, both for her safety and Arven's. She's out there.... somewhere.
Kieran - After some time has passed ( with Arven being brought to the land of the living), Kieran and his older sister are new transfer students at the school the Crater Crew ( oh that's a way better name that Area Zero Warriors lmao). A very shy kid, who has a very hard time standing up to himself, especially towards his older sisters antics. At some point, he becomes close friends with Luca, and with that, begins to notice more and more when Luca runs off somewhere. He tries to ask Luca about it, but he always brushes it off, or simply lie to Kieran's face. Does he not trust him? Is he already hired with him? Whatever it is, Kieran can't help but feel..... frustrated.
Carmine - The older sister of Kieran and at first, doesn't want him to be associated with Luca's little group. She heard rumors about them, and thinks it's best for her and Kiki to stay away from the lot. But of course, Kieran befriends Luca despite her telling him not to - and well. She guess it's nice that he has a friend. And Luca is kinda nice. Still, she doesn't fully trust them, not when she keeps noticing Luca and his friends keep sneaking off. And why does she keep having these weird dreams? Whatever it is,it's related to Luca's group, and if they're involved, Kiki could end up in more danger than it's worth. So maybe she might do some snooping.....
Again this is a very rough draft of this au. There's soooo many elements that are missing here - the bb league, team star, etc etc. I don't even know if pokemon exist, and if not, how to incorporate the paradox pokemon into this au ( again. Realizing the gang could be called the Paradox Warriors or something). Also like. Very obviously, this is inspired by Code Lyoko, but not exactly a Code Lyoko au. Too many variables that wouldn't make it work completely imo. But yeah! That's my silly little au idea. Some things might change, depending on how much I'll invest in this thing.

We talked about Ven’s dream, but are there any other moments in the series that stand out to you as potential KHUX references?
Okay, so, this is gonna all be from memory — with the occasional reference to the novels (I have bookmarks lol) so take the things I say with a grain of salt…
Also it’s kind of long so, under the cut we go!
The first one that comes to mind is something exclusive to the novels but when Ven and Vanitas re-fuse in the BBS an unspecified voice says this:
Tumblr media
Which feels very Darkness coded. The “I’m home” part especially, since it’s most likely that it was removed from him at the same time as Vani (this specifically is also why I still believe Vani and Darkness are separate entities, even if they might share a body).
It doesn’t really make sense why they’d refer to themselves in the third person like this, especially since we do have another plausible explanation.
On a different note
You cannot convince me that it was not intentional that the Dream Eater Theme is one of the only tracks in the franchise to have vocalizations (the only others I can think of would be ML Dearly Beloved and One Winged Angel? Could be forgetting some tho).
Like what kind of twisted foreshadowing is that?
And the fact that it’s so ‘childish’ too. Obviously the Dandelions weren’t that young (like not under 10 I mean) but it still drives me crazy. Just AHH.
I’m not very confident this one is intentional (I have no idea when KHUX started being planned. I doubt it was all the way back pre-2008, but who knows?) but in Days (only the game, not the cutscene movie) both Marluxia and Larxene consider recruiting Roxas in their coup.
I believe Marluxia is the first one to bring it up and I can only imagine that was because of his connection to Ven. Not really much else to say here lol
Last but certainly, nearly, tangentially on topic is the Keyblade War story Yen Sid tells Sora and Riku before their Mark of Mastery Exam.
And like, yeah, no kidding CQ, but hear me out, I think it’s how it connects to Union X that makes it interesting.
So my idea is that the story actually mixes the Keyblade War MoM presumably fought in (the one ‘when he was a boy’ he tells Luxu about) with the one that he made the Foretellers cause (the one in Chi).
Green and Bold are the former
Pink and Italics are the latter
Blue, Bold, and Italics are ones that could plausibly be both
“Long ago, in the age of fairy tales the world was filled with light — a gift, many believed, from an unseen power known as ‘Kingdom Hearts’. You see, Kingdom Hearts was protected by its counterpart, the ‘X-Blade,’ so that none could ever lay hands on its mysteries.
But in time, the world was overrun by legions who wanted the light all for themselves, and the first shadows were cast upon the land. These warriors crafted ‘Keyblades’ in the image of the original X-Blade and waged a great war over Kingdom Hearts. We call this the Keyblade War.
But though the war extinguished all light from the world, the darkness could not reach the brightness inside every child's heart.
With that light, the world was remade as we know it today, with countless smaller worlds shining like stars in the sky.
As for the real X-Blade, it did not survive the battle. The two elements that created it, one of darkness and one of light, shattered into twenty pieces — seven of light, thirteen of darkness.
And as for the source of all light — the one true Kingdom Hearts — it was swallowed by the darkness, never to be seen again. As long as it remains there, even the brightest world will have its dark corners. After all, light begets darkness, and darkness is drawn to light.
For this reason, some decided to use the Keyblade — a weapon designed to conquer the light — to defend the light instead. These were the first heroes of the Keyblade.” - Narration by Yen Sid, Dream Drop Distance Novel, Page 165
So I’m gonna go over each coloured line one by one just to clarify what I think they’re referring to.
Anything said about the X-Blade is automatically about MoM’s ‘childhood’ Keyblade War to me (Green) as we do not see it or hear any reference to it at any point in the X Saga. Not even when MoM is talking to the Foretellers. Hell, I’m not even sure it’s ever mentioned in Dark Road.
The mythos could just be made up. But the X-blade is real and does summon Kingdom Hearts (a real or a fake one is yet to be decided). But also if this was a MoM Keyblade War thing, and he never told anyone about it, how would the rest of Keyblade society know? Maybe at some unseen point during MoM and Xehanort’s meeting he was told. I’m not sure. It’s a little rocky but I’m using what we have to go off of
And I am pretty sure that the X-Blade would be a thing MoM was exposed to considering it’s status as the thing all Keyblades are based on.
For a comment on the first few blue lines. I personally believe this is true for both wars, but that the wording leans a bit more into the Chi war.
The pink lines afterwards are obviously referring to the Dandelions and restoration of worlds
The next blue line…
So, we have no heccin’ clue which Kingdom Hearts is real. Like, is it yellow? Is it blue? Is it the god damn door from KH1? (It’s not the door from KH1. The door from KH1 is the Kingdom Hearts of Worlds and not the one we’re talking about lol) Not even some people working on the games are entirely sure according to one interview lol
And because of that I cannot tell you during which war the true Kingdom Hearts disappeared.
Most people, including myself initially, would assume it was in the war we see in Chi, and, honestly, I don’t think they’re in the wrong for thinking that. I think that’s what we’re supposed to think. But Yen Sid says that “the one true Kingdom Hearts” was “never to be seen again” and all instances of Kingdom Hearts appearing (both colours I mean) have shown up on at least 2 occasions.
In Fragmentary Passage (I think???) there’s a cutscene of Luxu watching the (Chi) war and the Kingdom Hearts shown there is blue. The same blue as in BBS. In KH3 its yellow the same colour as the confirmed fake Kingdom Hearts shown in Days.
If either of those Kingdom Hearts were real then they both would’ve very much shown up again by the time Yen Sid is speaking to them.
The last pink line is most likely referring to MoM taking on the Foretellers as his apprentices and them forming the Unions.
See I spent all that time explaining my thoughts about that Keyblade War legended and now I look at them so unconfidently… but it took so long to write it all out I’m gonna keep it in anyways lol
Anywho, that’s all folks.
Feel free to either add on to my points or tear them to shreds, if you’d like. I love a discussion. And prefer to be corrected if I get something wrong.

your favorite characters from attack on titan? and why?
oh em gee 🧚‍♀️✨ i will gladly n excitedly answer this question (spoilers below cut)
i’ll do a top three lol
my fave character in the whole series was hange :””) i lovveeddd them from the very beginning when i watched aot s1 in 2013 so its been a decade long love ✋🏼😩 i cried so hard during s4 pt3 :””) but yeee i just adore the nerdy scientific characters that aren’t scared of the imminent threat of the verse but rather intrigued and curious to almost a point of insanity lol. but i think the hange scene i loved the most was during midnight sun (BEST AOT EP EVER I’LL DIE ON THIS HILL) is when mikasa is terrified of armin not being the one they bring back to life n hange says something like “there are people that i wish i could bring back too” 😭😭 idk that scene hit me rly hard n really quantified the amt of loss in aot i think
my second save character is reiner >:3 bc he’s so babygirl n i wanna make him my housewife. LOL jk naw but i HATED that man s2-s3 bc his whole multiple personality thing was such bullshit like 🙄 ok so you’ve killed sm of my fave characters but you’re still acting like a good guy??? go fuck yourself dude. BUT i started to get intrigued by his character when he was so committed to giving ymir’s letter to christa during shiganshina arc in s3 pt2…and then s4 rolled around and i fell IN LOVE W HIM. he was the only marleyan side warrior eldian that showed the right amount of remorse for what they did on paradis island, and although his backstory is so sad n its obv not his fault he was groomed into a war machine at such a young age, it was nice that isayama made him so guilty to the point of suicidal ideation. and he pulled THROUGGGH during the finale omg the scene where jean held onto him and said he is also a scout☝🏼😭 fuck yeah. also i’d like to impregnate him
my third fave character UUGHHH ITS TOO HARD THERES SO MANY but honestly i just have to say eren. i have soooo many mixed opinions ab eren’s character i could talk ab his character for HOURRSS but s1-3 eren was my BABY. my SON. MY SUGAR PLUM PUMPY UMPY UMPKIN. i mean he was pretty generic shonen protagonist coded lol but he was just such a sweetheart that was so hotheaded n determined to take care of the ppl he loved. it was always so easy to empathize w him on so many fronts n i love characters like that. however his character took an interesting turn in s4, and although i don’t agree w his actions in s4, i can’t say i didn’t want to see him succeed either…super weird, i still don’t quite know how to feel ab the events of the rumbling (i mean i err on the side of it was incredibly evil of him) but the fact there’s sm nuance to his character, regardless of whether i agree w him or not, means he’s one of my faves (we dont talk ab his character in the ending though. shhh. to me aot ends s4 ep28…sorry)
honorable mentions: armin, erwin, levi
least favorite character: zeke (die mf die)
YEEEEE THANK YOU FOR ASK BB i love talking ab aot <333 lmk what ur faves are if you’d like to 👀

Artist: Minnie ((G)-Idle)
Release: January 21st
Ranking:
1. Cherry Sky 💚
2. Obsession 💚
3. Drive U Crazy💚
4. HER💚
5. Blind Eyes Red 🩵
6. Valentine’s Dream 🩵
7. It’s Okay ❤️
Comments: this was such a good mini album! I love Cherry Sky I was so happy seeing that they at least made a mv for it idk if she’s promoting it on shows but she should it’s so good! Obsession was unexpected especially with all the jokes on how male and female idols don’t intersect anymore so a male female duet for a love song was amazing. Drive U crazy and Her were also great. I did like Blind Eyes Red but while listening to it I didn’t think I would play it on its own which is why it’s lower, still good song along with Valentine’s Dream I did like them just not enough. It’s Okay was also good just too slow of a song for me
Tumblr media
Album: Flip it, Kick it!
Artist: Kickflip
Release: January 20th
Ranking:
1. Umm Great 💚
2. Mama Said 💚
3. Knock Knock 💚
4. See You Tomorrow 💚
5. WARRIORS 💚
6. Like A Monster 💚
Runtime: 17 min
Comments: I think this was such a good debut. The only critique I’ve heard of it was how they feel too Got7 coded and not have their own sound which I get but I feel like the debut and the first comeback you can get away with not being super unique. I think it’s this a room to grow situation where they can branch into their own sound. Everything was amazing I loved listening to it, Like a monster took me 2-3 listens as it felt so different it took me out at first but I also love it now. I did buy the album and I’m so excited for their first comeback their really seeming like they might become another ult group of mine next to Stray Kids and Itzy. Umm Great was on repeat when I dropped and I also loved Knock Knock first listen. Similar to like a monster Warriors took me 2 listens as I wasn’t feeling it for some reason but I’m entirely on board now. I’m so excited for them and their further releases!
Tumblr media
Album: Winter Heptagon
Artist: Got7
Release: January 20th
Ranking:
1. Tidal Wave💚
2. PYTHON 💚
3. SMOOTH 💚
4. Remember💚
5. Out the door 💚
6. Darling🩵
7. Our Youth 🩵
8. her 🩵
9. Yours, Truly ❤️
Runtime: 27 min
Comments: I’m not familiar with Got7’s music so I can’t say how good of a comeback this was for that perspective but as a new fan I think this was amazing. My only issue with Python is that it is way to short, 2:30 mins! That is a crime against me, against kpop, against society as a whole. I need it to be at minimum 3:30, it’s too good to not have a bridge. I loved Tidal Wave, that Kryptonite line in the pre chorus has me in a choke hold. Smooth is also very fun to listen too. Funny thing when listening to Darling I fully thought they were saying something else really funny and I can’t remember what but that’s what I think about every time this song plays. Out Youth and her were nice to listen to and Yours, Truly was a little too slow for me.
Tumblr media
Album: Somewhere Out There
Artist: M.O.N.T
Release: January 4th
Ranking:
1. Double Triple💚
2. Speed🩵
3. When winter comes 🩵
4. OMW 🩵
Runtime: 13 min
Comments: I just felt like checking this out just cause and it was actually a really nice ep. Even though I wouldn’t listen to 2 of the songs they were still really nice for the 2 times I listened to them. I really liked Double Triple idk it gave me western vibes and I really like that. I wish more groups would lean into a western theme sometimes like with Itzy’s Wild Wild West aka one of my fav Itzy songs. Speed also a good listen and does lean more into what I would typically listen too I just didn’t see myself playing often. Winter comes and OMW we’re also good not as much my typical music but we’re also nice. I do like their use of guitars in their songs and may check out some other releases of theirs. ALSO they are going on a Europe tour if anyone in interested.
Tumblr media
Album: Connection
Artist: Onew
Release: January 6th
Ranking:
1. Conversation 💚
2. Promos You 💚
3. Boy 🩵
4. Yay 🩵
5. Graduation 🩵
6. Winner 🩵
Runtime: 17 min
Comments: Overall not my typical music I’d listen too. I don’t typically keep myself to only one sound but my favs tend to be Stray Kids, Itzy, and similar sounds but this was still a really nice ep. I LOVE conversation it very much got stuck in my head and Promise You also was a song that could also very easily be stuck in my head. The other songs didn’t really stick with me despite Boy and Yay also being more upbeat songs however I am going through Shinee’s discography so maybe when I try this again later on I’ll have a different opinion on it. Winner and Graduation were a little too slow for me however overall I do really like his vocals which made listening to these songs in general a fun time.
Tumblr media
Album: Thunder Fever
Artist: CIX
Release: January 23rd
Ranking:
1. Bad Moves💚
2. Lovers or Enemies💚
3. Thunder💚
4. My everlasting sun🩵
5. My shadow is her ❤️
Runtime: 15 min
Comments: honestly I feel like I sound give more CIX music a listen. THUNDER felt 80s/70s to me if that makes sense, it just feels like a more older sound to it and I love it. I think this was a wonderful choice for their TT. It really grabbed me in the first listen however I just ended up liking Bad Moves and Lovers or Enemies more. Bad Moves I liked so much I went back for another listen I just really liked the chorus. With Livers or Enemies I just liked the sound of it overall, I did really like the Inst in this with more of the bass to it (I hope that’s the right word). My everlasting song also really good. I think similar to Onew the vocals in the song made it a more fun listen for me despite not being the typical sound I would listen too. My shadow is near is also a really good song, also slower, it just wasn’t for me though if you like it I totally see why.
Tumblr media
Album: Dear.M
Artist: Oneus
Release: January 14th
Ranking:
1. Devilish Love💚
2. IKUK💚
3. We are Young🩵
4. Robert’s drop🩵
5. W❤️
Runtime: 15 min
Comments: this is actually longer at around 50 min as they had a lot of Penta version of previous songs but I decided to only do the new releases. IKUK actually did get stuck in my head a little. A lot of groups seem to be using their phrase in TT is this suddenly popular in Korea. XG and Illit have song called IYKYK, both great btw, recently so I just found that interesting. Devilish Love is also really good I feel like for me it and IKUK can easily switch back and forth. I love finding groups with a member with a deep voice and it always reminds me of Felix and also I like hearing to deep voices. We are Young was a good song it just didn’t seem like one I would listen too if on a playlist I think I just didn’t enjoy the chorus as much. Rupert’s Drop and W were just a little too slow for me though I did enjoy listening to Rupert’s drop as I liked those Inst more. Once again loved the vocals, also made Rupert’s drop a better listen for me.
Tumblr media
Assorted Singles
Release date next to songs
Ranking:
1. Ride or Die💚 Jan. 10
2. SMB 💚 Jan. 15
3. Season of Memories💚 Jan. 13
4. Boy Love Girls💚 Dec. 23
5. Imma Be 💚 Jan. 7
6. 4 Life🩵 Jan. 10
7. Always🩵 Jan. 13
8. LOVE 2 🩵 Jan. 15
9. Winter ❤️ Jan. 16
Comments: Once again this is my personal opinion but I loved Ride or Die it was one of my fav songs going into Feb and I’ll stand by it. SMB was pretty good it may give Ride or Die a run for its money on more listens as I do like that type of sound. I’m not familiar with Gfriend outside of Me Gustas Tu and Mago, sadly it can no longer hold the title of best disbandment song, but I’m very happy for all the fans and I hope they release more for you guys and for the members. The songs were great but Always did feel like a more proper disbandment/goodbye song than Mago. Seasons of memories was also very good! I’m so happy 4eve can swear now it’s amazing let Stray Kids say F*** next. I know they released in Dec but I wanted to add them anyway. The only thing I didn’t like in Imma be was the beginning half of the chorus “silly silly”, for me it took me out of the song which otherwise I REALLY liked it was wonderful, I hope for a lot of success for them. I really need to check out VVUP’s debut I haven’t yet but this was also a fun song maybe later I’ll listen again after listening to their debut and change my mind. Once again very happy for BB Girl fans just wasn’t for me. U_Chae’s song was just slow for me personally though the vocals were very good!
That’s it, I might do February in a little. If you want to see these with song clips my Tik Tok is nicknamenonam with a video of these reviews along with songs.

i really like how in your curlfeather conversation, she talks about Mistyfoot/Mistystar like they're two separate entities and not the same cat. Is this because of her dedication to be a "warrior" in the way the tags are described, or is it for other reasons?
It's her commitment to her sense of honor in the way described in the tags, and a reflection of the way she feels RiverClan (and her bloodline) had declined.
Mistyfoot had been strong enough to defy the code, when it was necessary. Leopardstar was a frothing mess in the Battle of the True Eclipse, so the great reveal that she had been assassinated to protect the Clan wasn't a shock to her-- it made sense.
It was clear to Curlpaw (age shuffle, she is slightly older in BB) that killing her had been a practical, rational choice.
The Code, to her, is a guideline and a tool. Honor doesn't come from the law; the law comes from honor. Good leaders can, and should, bend it when the future of the Clan is at stake. MistyFOOT was willing to make those tough calls when MistySTAR would work with the impostor, so her respect lays with a version of her grandmother she never met.
Curlfeather isn't quite a Traditionalist, but she isn't quite a Thistle Law supporter either. I understand her as a sort of Neo-Traditionalist, someone who greatly respects the law and the "old ways" of cultivating strength within the Clan, but believes that it these traditions must sometimes be broken in order to protect them. Functionally, she's standing with the Hard Traditionalists.
(Like Mudclaw many years ago, ultimately your personal beliefs don't mean much if you're willing to empower fascists.)

Prompt? Maybe? Idk, I really just wanted to get this idea out there. You decide what you wanna do with it. Okay, so AU where Snoke is extra kind and nice to Hux, because Snoke uses Hux as a reward for Kylo. Snoke needs to keep Hux (his apprentice’s pretty little prize) comfortable and healthy, so he can be the best reward possible for Kylo. Kylo and Hux play along, but they were attracted to each other long before Snoke decided to use Hux as a reward. KYLO: Just play along, kitten. I like seeing you all nice and pampered, just like you deserve. Oh, don’t give me that look, pretty boy. Stop pouting! A precious jewel like you deserves all this and more. Now act docile for Snoke, and I’ll blow up a rebel planet for you, okay?
“I must say, General Hux, you are looking particularly delectable today.”
The compliment, however kind, makes Hux want to shiver; Snoke’s low-timbre voice is infinitely creepier when delivering sweet words to his highest ranking General, his gaze eating him up like a Life Day ham.
“Thank you, Supreme Leader,” Hux graciously replies, successfully hiding his disgust. “Your most recent gift has proven beneficial to every aspect of my wellbeing.”
“Indeed,” Snoke raises a non-existent eyebrow. “The natives on Irial IV have conducted research for centuries on chirapsia and its health benefits. I trust that the rest of your visit to the resort was just as pleasant?”
Hux swallows hard. “Yes, sir. I feel refreshed and ready to serve.”
“Good,” Snoke says, sitting back in his throne. “I am most pleased with how you have taken to your role as Kylo Ren’s prize, General.”
“He is a vital member of the First Order, Supreme Leader. I am happy to do my part so that he may do his.”
“And play his part, he shall,” Snoke comments. “My apprentice’s needs are complicated but I have indeed noticed a difference in his performance as a warrior ever since you became his reward.”
“So have I, Superme Leader.”
“Good. Now, go,” Snoke waves his hand towards the door. “He has returned from a successful mission on Omowwn. He will require his pretty little prize to service him. You will do whatever he asks of you and your body.”
“Of course, Leader Snoke. I shall go to him with haste.”
Snoke’s giant hologram fizzles out before Hux has even has the chance to turn away; still, the old creature doesn’t see the smirk on the General’s lips as he exits.
Kylo’s chambers aren’t far from the holochamber so Hux is there in no time, inputting the entry code—Hux’s own birthday—into the padd and letting himself in.
Kylo is there, fresh from his mission on the jungle planet of Omowwn in search of an ancient temple. By the looks of the artefacts that surround him on the floor, he was successful. His dirtied robes have been thrown into the corner, ready for the laundry BB-droid to collect later, so he sits barefoot with just a sleeveless undershirt and soft trousers.
“General Hux,” Kylo stands up as soon as the door closes behind the visiting General.
Hux sheds his greatcoat, putting it on the hook beside the door and remembers Snoke’s words; ‘you will do whatever he asks of you’. In their loving, committed relationship, Kylo never asks Hux for anything.
“Sweetheart,” Kylo says, taking Hux into his arms, lifting him and spinning them both around as their lips meet. “I missed you.”
Hux smiles, “You’ve gone soft, Master Ren. But I suppose that I missed you too.”
Kylo chuckles, showing off his beautifully crooked teeth. Their lips meet again, heated and desperate this time as Kylo eases them both down onto the couch with Hux still cradled in his hold, now sitting in his lap. After pulling apart, Hux watches as Kylo’s eyes get lost in his, his gaze seemingly devouring him softly.
“Did you do something different with your hair?” Kylo asks eventually, reaching up to brush his fingers through it. “And I think your freckles have come out.”
“Oh,” Hux huffs, ruffling his hair and then patting his cheeks. “Your Master sent me planetside to Irial IV to receive a pampering and a spa treatment ready for your return so that I may service you as your prize for a victorious mission. Ridiculous.”
Kylo laughs, “It isn’t ridiculous, Hux. You deserve to be nice and pampered. Stop pouting.”
“I’m not a prize to be won, Ren,” Hux scowls, giving his lover a playful smack.
“No but Snoke is right about one thing,” Kylo shakes his head but takes hold of the lapels of Hux’s uniform jacket, pulling him forward to entice him into a kiss but Hux is resilient and teasing. “You are mine.”
“Just as you are mine, hm?” Hux bites his lip, pulling away.
“Of course, General. But we have to play it how Snoke wants it. He doesn’t approve of attachments like this. He says they’d only weaken me but sexual relief aids my training.”
“Ugh, did he say that? Sexual relief?” Hux feigns a disgusted shiver, making Kylo laugh.
“In a manner of speaking, yes. And it was as awkward as you’re imagining.” Kylo’s smile fades as he glances down, allowing one hand to gently slide up Hux’s thigh. “I don’t know what he’d do if he found out that I have real feelings for you. I couldn’t stand to lose you, Hux.”
Hux can see the emotion welling in Kylo’s eyes, the way his hand has closed into a fist upon his leg.
“Alright, Ren. It’ alright,” Hux hushes. “I won’t object to anything. I just begrudge being used as a ‘reward’.”
“But you aren’t, sweetheart. I love you. A precious jewel like you deserves all of this and more. Maybe a Resistance base or two destroyed in your honour?”
Hux’s eyes light up, his cheeks glowing. “Well, mighty warrior Ren. Perhaps after your prize has serviced you, you’ll be up to destroying a rebel planet for me?”
Kylo almost growls with excitement and moves quickly, flipping Hux over so he’s lying on the couch, legs spread wide and Kylo nestled between them.
Perhaps being Kylo’s prize isn’t a terrible thing after all.

Here’s a Grimmnel Symbolic Concept(s):
Nelliel - What Hollows could be/Reason Personification/The Moon
Grimmjow - What Hollows actually are (w/ warriors code)/Instinct Personified/The Night Sky
Bloody Waxing Crescent - Nelliel’s “sudden death”/Grimmjow lose of “reason”
Feel free to use these, whenever you’re able.
Oh dude the symbolism in Bleach is something I can talk about for hours so I'm glad someone touched on the topic!! But frankly I didn't think of The Night Sky as a symbolic for Grimmjow, but now I do……..Essentially, we see him hunting under the cover of night in Hueco Mundo when he was an adjuchas, and he follows the same principle attacking Ichigo at night in the human world. The rest of the time we see him under the scorching sun of Las Noches - fake and annoying, like a collar that restrains Jaegerjaquez's instincts and at the same time puts pressure on his neck, which is why he hates Aizen so much, as he wants to subdue him, and immediately and cruelly punishes for insubordination. Both the night sky and the night desert in this way act as the opposite of imposed frames and values embodied in a false sun that shines but doesn’t warm. Then, as the incarnation of The Moon, Nelliel is reserved, cold and unattainable by her nature, but she is REAL, she really is something beautiful managed to born and gain strength against all odds in such a cruel and terrible world.
The Waxing Crescent also refers to Nnoitra and the triumph of his dishonest victory, which put an end to The Reason. Nelliel was quite a powerful opponent and that power was openly despised, so I don't think the rumors of her "sudden death" lasted long. In addition, Aizen most likely foresaw such a trick from Nnoitra, and since he allowed him to remain in the Espada after that and even move up the career ladder, it means that he got away with such a mean act, no matter what the reasons were behind it – Nelliel with her principles and peaceful nature was no longer needed nor by Aizen nor Espada.
Well in short I want to say that The Waxing Crescent also symbolizes the beginning of a new era (The Era of Mantis sounds kinda badass doesn’t it) for Las Noches, where there will no longer be a place for Reason, warrior honor and so on, but only The Beast and all-encompassing Despair. The last one affected the personality of Grimmjow to a certain extent.
I think he, like Nnoitra did, saw her as some kind of unattainable figure, but if Nnoitra (like that guy from Fight Club) wanted to destroy something beautiful, Grimmjow didn’t seem to be interested in harming her. And as it’s seen on the BBS, Nelliel has a calming influence on Grimmjow. So you can imagine what kind of discord this "sudden death" brought to his soul. A stray cat that has lost its “owner” and is now trying to fill the inner void with squabbles and fights. And even his own fracciones can’t make things better. Not to mention that they would later leave him as well. Lose of Reason. Yeah, you got it in one, anon.
