uh oh gang I miss musicals

#aarrggh it's not like I haven't tried/liked any since lockdown started. I enjoyed watt lihn and rtc.#and it's only sort of that I don't know what's up in the current/recent theater scene #I could simply look up what's on and what cast albums have come out lately and pick something #and there have been plenty of cast changes and new productions for stuff I already like!#honestly I think the thing stopping me from getting back into musicals is that I've had a few computer changes since 2020 #and lost most of my bootleg collection so I don't really have ways to get new recordings of things I want #and I gather that most of that has moved onto private discord servers in the last two years anyway #and I just neither have the social skills to easily get into those circles nor the money to buy videos direct from masters #like. my friend and I were foiled THRICE from seeing the 50th anniversary jcs tour and they've said several times #that the best present I could get for them would be a video of that production so we could finally watch it together #but I don't even know where to go anymore to check if a video of that tour exists and I doubt I have anything worth trading for it anyway #most nothing problem in the world ik ik. but like. ;-; wanny see me shows...#sorry for being a bit maudlin about musical theater nonsense I'm not expecting any 'there theres'#I just can't really complain about this stuff irl without going through four layers of context first #marina marvels at life

How does one type in big text for discord

well it broke like twenty minutes after i posted that screenshot 😭😭😭😭 so we only got a brief taste of the Big Text, but for whenever they fix it, it works like this:

It only works for one line at a time, and you need the space between the hashtag and whatever text you put down! So if you want multiple lines of big text, you'll have to mark them all separately. Also, while we're here, "- text" will get you bullet points :] once its 💀 working again, ofc 💀💀💀

And the SBI-centric-that-is-actually-tommy-centric always has a depiction of techno and phil that's— how shall we say— somewhat different from canon or from the individual streamers even. Like it's very clear that the person only paid attention to tommy streams. It's all fine, it's fanfic, I have "sbi phil" in my head as a different character than "phil-phil", but oh boy. I started reading Emduo and went over to SBI just out of lack of things to read, and I did not get very good emduo.

Hmm, SBI in tommy-centric fics are often either mean/abusive for no reason except to give tommy angst or they're boiled down to cookie-cutter 'big brother'/'dad' figures who don't really do anything except look after sad, traumatized Tommy. Btw, a lot of those fics also mischaracterize Tommy himself in the process, imo.

HOWEVER, that's getting into like, fandom wank that's unproductive and entirely subjective. I have a lot of opinions on it, but it's a whole other can of worms and one I don't like getting into. It's a lot more fun to just make your own corner in the fandom with mutuals who you feel do characterize your blorbos well and just vicariously make/consume content together. The tagging is an essential issue because they're what are meant to keep my corner safe.

Aka: the mischaracterization is why I don't read Tommy-centric fics (together with the fact that I just don't care for them personally) and the tags are how I avoid those fics.

Tag your damn fics accurately.

#it's me #tw vent #tw abuse #man. we really need to remember that most of the time abuse is unintentional #for some reason we can recognize it with the authority figures that were in our life #but we're looking through our old messages and shit and #our ex partner/former sp was abusive #it probably seems obvious from the outside if you read our avpd posts (especially the one talking about how their essential confirmation of #--our avpd's worst fears made it so that we didn't realize we had avpd until we cut them out)#but like. internally. even if we recognized it as ''fucked up''. it only *registered* as ''just a little oopsie''#but like. we had a private server with them and we made two channels for each of us to vent privately unless we @ed the other #and we were SUPPOSED to mute the other's channel so you would ONLY get notifs if you were @ed.#they did not mute ours. and on *numerous* occasions they would read our vents and then complain about how they felt sooooo bad #and then we would be made to comfort them and would get no acknowledgment of how we were hurt outside of how bad they felt about it #and how they were scared of being abusive. and we'd always assure them they weren't because what else could we say?#and only a few times out of the many many MANY times they started breaking down like that over problems we had did they try not to make us-#--comfort them. often when we were in the midst of our *own* breakdown because we were hurting from what they did!#like yeah we have npd and avpd we get that it feels shitty and terrible to be told you hurt someone you love. we know that spiral intimatel #but we pretty much always tried our best not to force them to comfort us and would try not to make it obvious that we were hurt #because we recognized that they mattered more in that moment! and we did not want to take away from that!#welp time to go block them on every single thing lol #this is one hell of a realization to make right now #ex vents

It’s really funny that conservatives constantly ramble on about how trans folks are trying to ‘corrupt’ kids early with HRT and surgery when a) most gender affirming surgery for minors is actually performed for cis kids and b) anytime a minor asks for advice and guidance in the trans groups for older folks I’m in, not one person is ever enthusiastically endorsing hrt and if anyone does say about starting it’s always with the disclaimer to see a doctor first
