OHHHHH the mirror shot in this scene between joy and jerome is actually soo excellent i love a good intentional mirror shot because obviously this is a divisive moment for joy right like she has seriously fallen for jerome already but mara is determined to embarrass him so joy is at a crossroads whether to follow her heart or be a good friend. whereas for jerome, with his body almost fully turned away from the mirror, who is earnestly baring his soul, completely vulnerable and honest about his love for joy, noticing that she’s feeling down and determined to make her feel better. it’s like.. the world of difference between keeping a secret that’s eating you up inside on joy’s end and feeling so comfortable and so sure about the person on the other end that you can fully be yourself for jerome. same mirror, two completely different meanings.

i know this scene is so simple but it fits so well within the context of where these two characters stand emotionally because this is essentially the calm before the storm. after this scene jerome is going to learn the truth and there’s a shift in their relationship. both of them are going to be shattered by the end of this play. and it’s because jerome finds out what joy has been so desperate to keep hidden from him, and joy realizes she’s taken for granted all the vulnerability and honesty jerome offered to her only.

so to use these tools! the vanity for a play of all things! to create subtext… in a one-minute b-plot scene!!!! im foaming at the mouth actually. with this scene as well as the first time jerome asks joy out, why do i feel like the director and the editors approached their scenes with such care? like i don’t know just the framing and the actors’ blocking and everything.. is chef’s kiss

all of the stunts- as someone who has been in the fandom since 2011, witnessed stunts live in action etc- have been so poorly developed and played out it’s an absolute monstrosity how the gp actually believed that. here are just a few examples

haige was, in a brief summary, a pathetic attempt to portray harry as whatever they were aiming for. it was so messy and became toxic on harry’s behalf so sudden it was upsetting to witness. paige was an attention seeking person who wanted to gain a persona- even signed w an agency because of her association. it was all really one big mess, people believed H cheated on L (bffr.), L and Z had a fling in who remembers where they went, H and L were over, done nada. i’m unsure how haige is still being mentioned til this day? photos that magically resurface are just the evidence of the failed ordeal.

elounor was used as a punishment for both of the boys. if they acted a certain way on stage, in an interview, said the wrong thing or was in the wrong place at the wrong time it would result in a pap walk or a new article about how famous singer from 1D was going to propose and have kids with the love of his life!! by the end of the stunt the storyline had been fucked up so consistently that there is no consistency in the actual “relationship”. they were on, then off, then on, then off- gretchen, tina, eleanor, what looked like liam in a wig?? yeahh ok very believable on their behalf sure.

i don’t even want to talk about baby gate. babygate was hell on earth. chaotic, and yet probably resembles a performance by 6 year olds. photoshops, fertility clinic, stolen pictures, instagram accounts created JUST months before ‘F’ was born. paternity tests, L randomly getting a woman pregnant because that’s totally responsible from a guy who’s definitely had more meetings about not doing dumb shit whilst off the clock to keep his boyband image.

anyways, i find it funny how people believe the stunts. the stunts that were so painstakingly obvious. ah, just wanted to rant since all i’m seeing is shit about the stunts ✌️

Julian Albert:

He just kind of Exists to me 🤷‍♀️ I also didn’t like Caitlin/Julian (hence “canon’s not real if I don’t look at it”). I found him kinda off-putting tbh. The show’s no stranger to jerk characters (Harry, Ralph), but Julian doesn’t really have the charisma to endear him to me like Harry and (to a lesser extent) Ralph do.

Also, he was only really there a) for Caitlin’s plotline (and his inclusion in all of it fell flat for me) and b) for the Alchemy red herring (which, as with Savitar pre-reveal, was a waste of time imo)

Kamilla Hwang:

So admittedly I used to be a lot more neutral towards her, if only because I felt she and Cisco were kinda thrown together by the writing and not given a ton of development as a couple. I…still somewhat feel this way, but I also like the two of them together…and as far as Cisco ships go, Kamisco’s my favorite 💞 (Goldenvibe is second for me, and I’ve been warming up to that more lately too)

Also, since Kamilla is your favorite, I’ve become fonder of her and Kamisco through following you 🥰 Kamilla is sweet, driven, and when the show does allow them to spend time together onscreen, they seem to get each other in a very special way. It’s not my favorite ship, but I find it a sweet one regardless.

As for “the fandom’s so mean”…something I’ve noticed is how some Caitlin/Cisco shippers tend to write Kamisco (and Kamilla, by extension) as very boring/bland/not right for Cisco. Which…fine, people can have ship preferences, but I remember one fic in which a character told Cisco, “[Kamilla’s] nice, but you deserve better than nice”, and that irked me.

Like…I get that Kamisco isn’t as developed as Caitlin and Cisco’s friendship, and even I shipped Caitlin/Cisco for a time, but…it rubs me the wrong way to see a white woman prioritized over a WOC as Cisco’s love interest when canonically, he’s only ever romantically been interested in said WOC and not the white woman. I get the fondness for Caitlin/Cisco, but if you need to throw Kamilla, a WOC and Cisco’s canon love interest, under the bus to do it…I question how strong your ship really is.

(Fun fact, fics like this are part of the reason I don’t really ship Caitlin/Cisco anymore!)

Joe West:

So…I have mixed opinions. I love him in most of the show, especially his relationships with Barry, Iris, Cisco, and Wally. Even his dynamic with Harry in s2!

I don’t, however, like him in s1 with Iris, and even with Barry, mostly pre-reveal. When he’s shooting down Barry at every turn, making him feel stupid, not even entertaining the idea of the impossible, not even stopping when he sees Barry’s given up the fight…yeah, that was sucky of him. It shouldn’t have taken Iris’s intervening for him to back off.

And with Iris…the lying, the gaslighting, the coddling…listen, I get he’s overprotective, but he is way moreso of Iris than Barry. Keeping her out of the loop for so long and not even apologizing to her?? Joe, Barry made his choice, but you also asked him to do it! You lied to Iris for months and acted like she was crazy when she mentioned seeing the Streak! You even got mad at Barry for Iris’s choice to put her name on her blog!

And that stuff with Eddie…ugh, that’s infuriating. The way Joe acts so entitled to her love life in s1, the way he denies Eddie permission to propose for ages just because he thinks he knows better than Iris who she should marry?? And the show doesn’t win any points with me for treating him as being right for that.

Oh, and also Armageddon?? When he yells at Barry and Iris for wanting to let Thawne die?? Saying they’d be destroying their family by doing so?? JOE CAN YOU BFFR?? We’re talking about EOBARD THAWNE! Killed Nora Allen, framed Henry Allen, stalked your son-in-law, killed Cisco, killed Eddie, killed your granddaughter, changed time and almost married your daughter??

I do love him in the rest of the show though, I think he’s a great fountain of wisdom and his relationships with his kids shine (hence the square with all the hearts, because when those relationships are at the forefront outside of s1, it’s like magic). It’s just those instances when I dislike him.

I really wish I could just punch her in the mouth and get kicked off the show. It would 100% be worth it. I’ve never wanted to fight a game character more.

Alfie is really a little lap dog for his partner. Like, he’s just so happy to have someone that he’s turned into her bitch. That wack ass apology he gave because he couldn’t grow a pair and just say that they wouldn’t vote for me because I’ve done NOTHING to her.

Finn was the only one of the guys to really have my back when it came down to it and that really irritated me. Like, Alfie and Suresh let it be known in Casa that they both have feelings for me but you chose to keep silent while I got lied on?? Very sweet for Finn to cut Johnny’s bullshit AND back me in front of everyone and not just in a one on one. But he has stayed quiet through a lot of other unfair shit that MC has gone through and I don’t like that either.

Lulu is my favorite girl! How can she see the bs but the other girls are questioning me?? I definitely kissed her for the game both times. I’d love to see what’s gonna happen with her character.

*big dramatic sigh* Suresh…I don’t know about him at this point. All my other theories about him are out of the window. The NERVE to kiss Gabi in front of me!! And MARRY Meera like she hasn’t been coming for my head!! It’s complete nonsense. I don’t know why they’ve done this to his character but i hate it. Idk if it’s supposed to make us feel like Finn is the only one that gets us but it’s bullshit. You’re in a relationship with someone for over a year, come onto a dating show FOR them specifically, steady try to win them back and then all of a sudden crickets??? Make it make sense FB!! How can they change this man’s whole personality?! He was always an outspoken go getter and now all of a sudden he’s focusing on someone he has no spark with and kissing an old fling that was the cause of our breakup? BFFR. He was a flirt but he was never heartless. They are ruining him and I hope that Finn publicly saying that he wants me will kick his ass into gear. If not, I’m not sure how this will end. I’ll honestly have no LI and I’ll choose someone out of spite just to ruin their relationship for fucking with me.

Even Alfie stans, I didn't realize it because I'm so focused on Suresh but look at who they chose for him to kiss, KAT...just like Suresh, Alfie has history with Kat and that kiss would've hurt MC a lot too. FB intentionally hurt us this week with Suresh and Alfie's choices to force Finn on us. Because think about it are you really going to listen to Finn's marriage proposal if you really actually wanted Suresh/Alfie and they proposed too? Nah you wouldn't.

An: Three days late, and a few thousand words I wanna say short. This was tough to write only bc I have been some level of intoxicated since I got to my moms so that's my excuse. This was the one I was waiting on tho and it was fun to actually get to write it. Hope you enjoy this last little bit before I go back into my little cave lmao. [prompt as always by @almost-a-class-act]

Gene stood alone in the living room, flipping the small box in between his palms. He had to decide if he was going to slip it back into his pocket and carry it to the family party they were due to be at shortly, or tuck it into the stocking with Babe’s name on it dangling on their mantle and wait for later.

The ring he bought a mere weeks prior had begun to weigh on him. He wanted to drop to one knee right then and there, promise Babe anything he ever could dream of wanting if he agreed to marry Gene; but he also wanted the moment to be perfect, though he wasn’t exactly sure what that might look like. To him, any moment with Babe was perfect so it was hard to discern when it might be the “right time” to officially ask to spend the rest of their lives together.

When he realized this, he settled on figuring out when Babe would consider it to be the perfect time. It was no secret that Babe loved Christmas, his family was large and lively so the holidays were a big deal. The idea of asking the question in front of 35 people made his stomach lurch though, and imagining all of them watching, waiting, some of them hoping for a “no” made him want to shrink out of his skin. He wouldn’t be doing that, he couldn’t do that.

He was going to do it, but he was going to do it his way. He slipped the box into the stocking full of small gifts Babe would inevitably be asking to open when they got home that evening. He made sure it wasn’t fully buried under the other little gifts he had picked up throughout the month, little tokens that made him think of his love when he saw them.

Sometime between the end of the Eagles game and the point where every adult was more than half drunk, Babe and Gene made their escape. They entered the apartment now bathed in the warm glow of the twinkle lights from the tree. They changed into sweats and quietly went about getting their evening set: Babe creating a nest of blankets and pillows on the sofa, Gene getting the bottle of bubbly they picked out specifically for this evening.

Babe joined Gene in the kitchen when he was done with the set up, wrapping his arms around Gene’s waist and resting his chin on the other man's shoulder. Gene undid the foil around the cork, and as carefully as possible, he popped the bottle open; the sound elicited a small giggle from Babe who buried his face in Gene’s neck.

Gene poured them each a glass and handed one to Babe. Raising his own, he thought carefully for a moment about what he wanted to toast to. There was so much he could say, what he wanted to say but he wanted to save those words that held more weight.

“To… five Christmases together, and the rest of them to go.” He proposed, and Babe smiled as they clinked their glasses. They locked eyes while taking a sip, Babe’s crinkling at the corners, his cheeks lifting as if he were smiling. Babe swiped the bottle from the counter and led Gene to the cozy set up in front of their tree. It was their tradition to open a few gifts and fall asleep watching Christmas Vacation together.

Gene settled into the downy comforter Babe had spread out for them as Babe gathered both of their stockings. Gene’s pulse quickened when he remembered what he slipped into Babe’s earlier that day. He hadn’t thought far enough ahead to know how he wanted to go about it, just that he wanted to do it that night.

Babe handed Gene his, and settled in next to Gene. They chatted casually while they began opening the small gifts they curated for each other, commenting on the items' use or meaning, and every time Babe reached into his Gene felt like he was going to vomit because he didn’t know when he would have to own up to his plan.

Finally, it happened. Babe stuck his hand down far into the stocking to pull the final gifts out, and Gene knew that all that would remain would be a new pack of Waterpik tips and the ring. Babe pulled out the package containing the tips and expressed his gratitude because of how much he had needed new ones.

Then, still feeling weight in the stocking he looked at Gene inquisitively and reached back in, his expression turning to surprise when he felt the shape of the box. His eyebrows were raised and his mouth formed a perfect ‘o’ shape. His hand was shaking by the time it emerged with the box, his eyes beginning to well up with tears. Gene slipped off the couch onto one knee in front of Babe. Babe, who hadn’t opened the box but was holding it tightly in his grasp. Gene gently reached to open the box and show it to Babe, who at which point gave up trying to stop the flow of tears. Gene took a shaky breath before launching into the speech he wrote and rewrote over and over in his head for weeks.

“Babe- Edward- you are the greatest blessing in my life. You have taught me how to love another human completely, and how to love myself the same. You opened your heart to me so readily, and so eagerly loved me from the very beginning. You are my raison d'être, you giving my very essence of life. I have cherished every single moment of our lives together, and I want to continue to do so for the rest of it. We’ve always said ‘someday’ well what if that someday was now… Marry me?” Gene asked, his voice shaking the whole time. Babe’s eyes were screwed shut, though tears still flowed from them. Gene physically could not breath the whole time he waited for Babe to answer, which felt like an eternity.

Finally Babe opened his eyes and they were shining brightly both from the tears but also elation. He nodded his head furiously in the affirmative, still not speaking.

“Yes? That- you’re actually saying yes?” Gene’s voice was hopeful as he slowly removed the band from where it was nestled in the velvet cushion.

“Yes, yes yes yes yes a hundred million times yes!” Babe said when his voice returned, laughter bubbling up from his throat. He held out his hand for Gene to slip the band into, the pair of them smiling like fools. Once it was on his hand, Gene placed a kiss to where it sat before Babe held it up to his face, examining the detail of it. He suddenly wiggled off the couch and onto the floor, crawling over to the tree where he searched under a pile of gifts that were labeled for Gene. He pulled out his own small black box and sat down on the floor next to Gene.

“Can’t believe you beat me to it, I had my own speech and everything prepared.” He said, opening the box and presenting it to Gene. “Marry me, Genie?” He asked simply, and the two men smiled at each other, their love and affection for the other radiating off of them.

“Of course, Babe.” Gene answered simply, and he let Babe return the favor of slipping the band he had purchased onto his finger. They just looked at each other for a few silent moments, the years of their life together playing like a movie that was all leading up to this moment. They knew this was only the beginning though, and they had the rest of their lives for moments like that one to happen over and over again.

Gene leaned in to kiss Babe softly, chastely as if to affirm their promise. Babe responded in kind, promising the world to Gene who did the same.

Biden has been quietly following every single one of trump’s worst policies to a T, he’s just lying about it. He’s actually been harsher on undocumented immigration and asylum seekers, he’s just not stupid enough to talk about it publicly the way trump does. Biden literally supported hogs beating and assaulting hundreds of unarmed college kids in tents. Biden is a devout Catholic who protested heavily against integration of black people and the civil rights movement. He is not our friend. He is not our ally.

I can’t stop you from voting for either genocidal maniac running for President this year, I really can’t, but you can’t stop me from doing a protest vote on that one and voting blue on the rest of the ballot.

Biden and trump are politically identical. You aren’t saving anyone by voting for Biden, you’re just voting for the guy smart enough to hide the knife behind his back until you turn away and give him an opening rather than the guy who charges right at you with it. The end result is often going to be the same.

Biden is a hardcore conservative who plays a democrat on TV. If he was the same in EVERY WAY but ran as a Republican you’d call him a monster, but somehow because he lies about his alliances you can ignore every POC and marginalized group he’s hurting NOW just in case he never points that knife your way? Bffr.

No amount of fear mongering will make me vote for the guy who LIED about hamas beheading Israeli babies to rally Americans behind his genocide. No amount of fear mongering will make me vote for the guy who LIED about hamas refusing a ceasefire deal he came up with when he was literally just citing hamas’ own ceasefire proposal while passing it off as his own to make hamas seem more bloodthirsty and unreasonable when Israel is the one that refused it. No amount of fear mongering will make me vote for the guy who LIED about building a temporary port for vital humanitarian aid to a starving and gravely injured group of refugees and instead used it to facilitate a war crime that left hundreds of Palestinian refugees dead, hundreds more injured, for the sake of ~saving~ four (4) white people.

I would die before I let myself be tricked into voting for Biden again. He should be taken to the ICJ and be charged for genocide and the war crime of disguising soldiers as aid workers to maximize civilian deaths. He has no place on this ballot, and neither does trump. If you’re too afraid to vote for anyone else, you’ll be stuck in this same non-choice every four years.
