I agree with you, but I wanted to point out that manga also has the "ever expanding never ending story" problem. Take Dragon Ball or Naruto, for example. It's much less common than it is with superhero comics, but it's there.

Sure but at least it’s a CONTAINED story. Like I didn’t have to read five other mang to know what the fuck was going in chapter 674 of Naruto or whatever.

Manga absolutely has an issue with not knowing when the fuck to end but even then… it’s accessible. You can start at chapter 1 and catch up and commit to never being free.

If I wanted to lower my standards and read one piece for the rest of my life, I could go start at Volume 1, relatively easily find collected editions or digital versions of every single volume after that point, read them, catch up, EASILY find an update schedule and know where to read said update (weekly, shounen jump), and have a decent idea of what I’ll have to do to follow the story going forward (read more one piece). Almost everything there is to know about the story and characters is contained within this one manga or MAYBE a spin off (which is also linear and relatively contained)

I got into marvel comics for the young avengers team. I started to make a google doc to easily follow the stories of each character

I got halfway through chronicaling Teddy before I gave up but look at this… VOLUME ONE of young avengers wasn’t even finished and suddenly i’m reading thunderbolts?? JUST for billy. i have to pick up volume THREE of wolverine for ONE random appearance??

I OWN most young avengers focused comic books—the collected editions of volume 1 and 2, children’s crusade, civil war: young avengers & runaways, and even individual issues like where billy and teddy get married… and I don’t know SHIT about the young avengers. I haven’t seen 50% of the characters appearances because they joined new teams or had separate arcs.

I don’t have to read a new series to know wtf sasuke is doing becuse I got into Naruto. He died after chapter 699 and that’s all I need to know, I cna ignore superfluous text because he HAD his complete character arc.

Characters in the Big2 can’t have complete character arcs because superhero stories are never complete until someoen fucking dies.

Sweet G's

As the first local establishment in Thunder Bay visited, it was decided to be Sweet G's. I brought my friend Isaac with me. We both decided to get the Big2 which is has 2 Eggs, 2 Pieces of Bacon, 2 Sausages, and 2 finnish style pancakes. Isaac ordered some tea with his food, he wanted to figure out which tea brand would be served; it was Tetley. After around 10 minutes, we got our food. I got scrambled eggs while Isaac got his over-easy.

Isaac rated the food pretty well. The tea was solid. The bacon was perfectly cooked, with it crumbling in the mouth. For the pancakes he gave a good analogy, "The pancakes are really good, while homemade finn pancakes are really good, these are really good in a completely different way that I just can't describe"

The meals were well priced, they didn't take long, and were quite tasty. There is a cozy old fashioned feeling when having a brunch here.
