hmm i've been thinking about this and i think i'm only deadset on spommy, ianthony, kolivia, and amangela as far as like. my canon goes. not sure what if any other ships im gonna include... ive gone back and forth with shaymien and shaynse too but not sure!!

but, i will say, for the most part the edits are mostly left up to interpretation so you can all decide whatever ships you want really!! (or if you don't want any ships at all that's cool too <3) like i've said to me the botbau is a little collaborative barbie world that we can all make whatever we want out of. like i told someone the other day - if you wanna write a fic or make an edit or something for this and it doesn't exactly line up with what i might write or think ab the au... ianthony: taking this directly from my dms to lilac but basically. ianthony botbau my beloveds....... to relearn how to co-pilot something with someone that should come so second-hand to you but you're both different people now but your feelings carry through anyway for who they were and are and will be........ yeah theyre everything to me. in a way it's a mirror to life/what actually happened to them with smosh (art imitates life) but the divorce era was even MORE famous because they're like a household name so it was a lot more pressure. idk yet if they were together beforehand and then broke up and now they're getting BACK together or if they had unresolved feelings they never dealt with and now they're struggling to reconcile them with their renewed friendship AND reunited band/the fame that comes from that... but either way they are Messy. im obsessed.

kolivia: kolivia in this au fascinates me because in my head keith is kind of known for being a player and fucking around but i think he stopped that Ages ago because. these two are basically dating. like they don't put a label on it and it's not public and i don't even know if THEY know how in love they are. but they live together. they sleep together "just to blow off steam" (come on now). they don't date other people. everyone can see it but them type beat. olivia's like "he's not my boyfriend" and then picks up the phone and is like "hi baby do you want chinese for dinner" NDLFKNANKSFLN like they are exclusive and they have deep feelings for each other but they are both so deeply in denial that they swear they're not dating. they have realistically been in a relationship for like five years.

amangela: RIVALS TO LOVERS AGAINNNN i have talked about this one a Lot with baflegacy bc like. they are my roman empire. at least these two have met on multiple occasions and actually fought with each other - they keep meeting at gigs/in bars and bickering. angela "clearly abba is the best band ever" giarratana and amanda "WHAT about fleetwood mac you DUMB ASS" lehan-canto. like they meet a bunch and EVERY time they end up bickering. meanwhile angela keeps seeing thirst traps of amanda on tiktok and being like "why are all the lesbians obsessed with her she SUCKS" and chanse and arasha, who have heard this three million times, are like "yeah okay buddy whatever helps you sleep at night." meanwhile amanda is living her bliss <3 and then they realize they're both in battle of the bands and uh oh! things come to a head!

Are there any 'skill' stats and stat checks? Like how good MC's singing is, or how charismatic they are, etc?

It’s less skill and more personality, MC’s personality will dictate a lot (like in interviews etc) for example, in the demo there’s a part where MC will react to something but instead of a choice the flavor of MC’s reaction changes based on that certain stat.

As for skills and such, it still comes down to less physical skill and more how you handle the public. This is what it looks like right now (aside from personality chart.) For example, let’s say there’s a scene where you have to convince an audience of…something idk! If you’re hated, it probably won’t work haha.

Or another example, if you have happen to be too arrogant or even positively: too friendly, sometimes different people might take it the wrong way. “MC is too nice, definitely that’s not their real personality.” Not always, of course, but enough that the stats carry weight :)

MC will be on TV often and be shaking hands with a lot of people, so their personality is a huge part of the game!

With that said, I do encourage to do what you want. Infamous isn’t a game where you’ll be punished for being a certain way (at least BOTB plot wise but characters can surely dislike you.) That comes down to the choices you make in terms of the over arching plot.

As for charisma and stuff, MC will have a choice of having a special asset to them (like being conventionally good looking which makes MC more well received in group magazine shoots or being charismatic which makes it easier for MC’s words to be well received in interviews.)

How I would go about winning BOTB (as an Infamous IF player <333 btw go play it)

Step 1 — “romance” Blake. That's bound to piss off a lot of characters LMAO, which is kinda the point. Convince Blake that posing as the villain couple of the season would be beneficial for them too (e.g. saying it'd annoy Griffin and get Seven out of the spotlight).

Step 2 — Get the public's attention with this drama — not only enemies to lovers but also it's the “love triangle” with Seven that would keep them wanting to know what happens next.

Step 3 — Get rid of Seven >:))))))

Step 4 — Beat every other band with the power of love audience votes and popularity (and also by writing sick ass songs) until there's just UW and MC's band.

Step 5 — Beat Underground Wastebasket.

Development: How did you come up with your character? Is their design still evolving? How do you think they might develop through the story?

oh she's definitely still evolving LOL. i'm still trying to get to grips with her, but i think i'm starting to figure her out so yay!! i'm super boring in the way i develop characters, so i just kind of started from a jumping point of 1) angsty angry ex relationship w seven 2) daisy jones but make it grunge rock 3) fun wild colour scheme LOL. marnie's a name i've been testing on a few ocs recently n this time she's stuck &lt;3

as for how she might develop, i'm hoping she Matures Emotionally LOL. from imposter syndrome & abandonment issues poster child > queen of self-confidence and love, baby! idk what form that would take (like i think it's a development she could have if they lost botb, but also if they won) but here's hoping she doesn't alienate everyone with her pride before it happens 🤞

cherry bomb (joan jett & the blackhearts) is a big marnie song bc 1) i know for a fact she screams along to it in the car all the time and 2) the lyrics are just... very her vibe. allll of i hate my mom (GRLwood) is very heavily marnie-coded too LOL. all eyes on me (bo burnham) is very lyrically marnie (are you feeling nervous? are you having fun? it's almost over / it's just begun) even if the genre/style isn't anything she'd sing (tho she might listen?).

Fame: Do you think your character will enjoy fame? Do they think they will? What elements do you think they might struggle with? Do you think they’ll be happy at the end of this road?

marnie definitely wants fame; definitely feels an urge to prove herself and to also seek out people who love her, who want her around and admire her. but i think the realities of fame will prooooobably suck for her more than she thinks they will. she loves attention & admiration, but i think the fickleness of public opinion is gonna fuck w her (shes already struggling to handle this whole fight situation & reactions to it in the press as well as all the references to her relationship w seven).

also, despite how open she seems, there's a lot of stuff abt her life that she wants to keep private (what rly happened with seven, why she doesnt talk to her parents, the true extent of her partying) so having no public boundaries is..... gna be difficult for her, aha. but i think the accomplishment will help her in her way towards happiness, and she'll be proud of herself & the band for any fame/appreciation they manage to claw out?? and she absolutely will love being adored by her fans LOL so u kno there's highs and there's lows

hmmmm. she got into music in the first place to try bonding with her dad aha :/ he had a lot of old rock records and he used to listen to them when he wasn't on assignment. even used to laugh when she sang along sometimes, which was a balm for her no one loves me heart. he kind of lost interest over the years, tho, so it never brought them together.

when she left her parents' house for the last time, she stole his rumours vinyl lol. probably that might come back to bite her on the ass legally like that is entirely possible. but it's one of her most sentimentally valuable possessions, even if she doesnt break it out often bc it makes her think of her dad :/ it's defo come on tour with them in her luggage

Band name: How did they and the others come up with the band name? Has the name changed since it was founded?

Hasn't changed the band name since it was founded way back when with Seven. Back then it was a joke, after watching one too many scary movies and jumping when the home phone rang (it was a telemarketer...). Relentless Caller became a lil more fine tuned, someone actually looked up thesaraus dot com for the word, and then it all came together.

Albums: What are some of the albums the band has released? Are they a consistent style? What themes did they explore?

Definitely on the sliding scale of rock, and at least one attempt at heavy metal - which was fun! But the strain on the vocal chords due to not doing all the right things was not. Mostly containing songs to EPs, whilst one of the official album names are leaning harder on the poetic Troubled Paradise and Don't Bother to Knock way, Jen refers to 90% of the EPs as completely different names. Throatzilla. Lettuce Tossed. Material Girl 3.0. Bond Boy. She's a very serious artist.

Songwriting: What’s their process? Is it different than it was when they used to write songs with Seven?

Absolutely different from when writing with Seven, as then it was fun and bouncing ideas off each other and throwing food and smashing red bull two hours before a recording. It was all new and fun and bright. Since the vote, there has been like that liiiiiiittttllllleeeeee voice in the back of her head about being 'palatable' to an audience, and that they didn't want to take a risk. So probably her songwriting went that way. There is some other stuff buried in between the pages that are like wistful duets or the stuff she may actually want to do, but. Well. It's all about that image, baby!

Change: How has their personality changed since Seven left the band? Are those changes related to Seven leaving?

It's not so much that her personality changed, it's probably more along the lines that the public profile she presents really gets cemented that it kind of gets hard to switch it off. Throwing herself into the work as if to make it worthwhile...

Voice: What does their singing voice sound like? Do you have voiceclaims(s) for them?

Tia Carrere was the first voice that jumped to mind when playing, but I don't have a set voice at this stage...

Boyle & Keneally #1

 A story to be savored…not eaten in one bite. In the first pages I was caught in the web the author began to weave wondering who the killer was and what he was up to. Why had he chosen to kill the man we were first told about and how would that killing impact the woman who will be one of the lead characters in a new series that I really want to read more of. I am thrilled to have come into this series in the first book, meet the characters, and be able to follow them as they grow as a team and solve more cases.

 What I liked: * Jessie Boyle: Human behaviorist with over twenty years of experience working with the London Metropolitan Police, lost her partner to a serial killer, resigned, called to assist a friend, intelligent, skilled at what she does, survivor, leader, friend, team player, and a woman I want to learn a lot more about.

* Seamus Keneally: detective, “hero”, talkative, fit, intelligent, humorous, son with great mother, team player, humble, survivor, someone I am eager to learn more about as the series progresses.

* Terri Kehoe: small but mighty, grew up in care, historian, genealogy wiz, computer savvy, researcher, assists on police cases, survivor, quiet, observant, someone that slowly emerges as a force to be reckoned with. I want to know more about her, too.

* Dawn Wilson: police commissioner, Jessie’s friend, intelligent, capable, needs to be in charge and keep her hand in, capable, skilled, hope to hear more about her in future books.

* The way characters were developed over the story, the way they came together as a team, and that I felt invested in them and in their story.

* The historical element that uses history on using ogham markings on stone to give weight to the killings while also teaching a bit of history.

* The introduction to and visit with some creepy killers that may show up again in future books.

* That we know there is at least one killer still out there to be found

* The way some gang-mafia types were brought into the story and how they were presented as bad but not all bad.

* The mythology tied into some of the killings

* The location – Ireland is a place I have always wanted to visit – Had never heard of “The Reeks”

* That I wasn’t ready to say goodbye to the characters and would love to have them as friends.

 What I didn’t like:

* The murderers and what they did

* Knowing that people are as twisted, ruthless, and evil as some in this story

* Having to wait for book two

 Did I enjoy this book? Yes

Would I read more in this series? Definitely!

and as a bonus some random headcanons under the cut bc why not:

courtney and spencer are long-time childhood friends, and they've been making music together since they were like. 7 and 11 respectively. spencer met shayne and damien in college and they've been in a band ever since!!

if you walk into any of the dressing rooms of every member of the chosen, they are listening to such different music to get ready it would actually make your heads spin. out of their botb fellow contestants, damien is most likely to listen to conventry (bc he's literally never been wrong), courtney is bumping kolivition, spencer is playing some classic smosh, and shayne is listening to ftc!!

i have in my brain what all of the songs are like. About ya know. so for example damien did the backing vocals for augustus and i have this idea in my brain that like. augustus IS this universe's manifestation of the character augustus. so like i think all of the chosen has a hand in writing the songs and damien co-wrote this one and it's just like. about a lonely lost kid who's awkward and doesn't fit in. like obviously it's a much less joking interpretation and more of a serious one but anyway it's still about him. is this making sense? i have No idea anymore!

courtney has also done some co-/backing vocals, and is the most likely to be featured on a track! she's featured on nuclear rain, and she also does a fun lil harmony for 'shoot dood.' shayne is the only one that has not sung and their fans keep begging but he REFUSES

'down bad' is their first like... love song? although it's technically just about how embarrassing being vulnerable and being in love are. smth smth the overwhelming ordeal of loving someone.

anyway it also opens with a snippet of a voicemail from kiana to spencer (probably from like years ago not about anything relevant) telling him to 'get up girl'. kiana is Not here for the fame, in fact she would rather no one knew who she was but unfortunately life be like this. after the ep drops the media goes fucking Nuts with rumors of whether or not they're dating.

they have fans who love the whole band but the amount of damien girls is of course insane. the other three mock him relentlessly for it. there is an entire instagram dedicated to updates about his hair.

lisa has put spencer on twitter timeout several times especially from the band's twitter bc he is Terrible for publicity. the order of worst to best for tweeting are: spencer, shayne, courtney, and damien

courtney takes selfies at EVERY live show they do; they have a collage of them as their phone background!!

as soon as courtney hears jackie is gonna be one of the judges for botb. hyperventilating. she loses her god damn mind. THE jacklyn uweh? famous recording artist? that's her shower sing-along playlist. lisa has explicitly banned them from any fangirling until the battle is Over

"up & coming" is like a netflix reality show about small bands really trying to make it, and they were featured after kiana got in contact with the showrunner. it basically followed them as they made their third ep and interviewed them and people they know. it's very much a 'before they were famous moment.'

damien bet shayne $20 that he wouldn't stare into the camera in every single shot. shayne committed to the bit. no one said anything and they kept every single shot in and NO ONE knows why.

(this is a really old ask that I drafted ages ago but here u go anon from last night who wanted botb loceit)

Janus kind of functions as the band’s manager (because he’s the most responsible of the four of them), but Logan helps him with details a lot (like budgeting, sometimes lighting if it’s a factor, etc)

Patton has always been Jan’s neighbor so their families are close, and Logan is Patton’s childhood best friend, so Logan and Jan have known each other for a long time too (their birthdays are all super close so the three of them have a tradition of going bowling together every year)

((Patton always wins. Janus and Logan have, as such, resigned themselves to allying in order to make up the most ridiculous historically referential names for their bowling balls instead of focusing on the actual game))

Logan spends one class period a day as an attendant in the school library - he spends most of the period reading behind the checkout counter because no one actually checks out books

^^ Janus has a study hall during that period and always comes down to the library to just. hang. (His definition of ‘hang’ is ‘sit on the checkout counter and talk to Logan the whole period’)

They also occasionally hang out at the public library; there’s a really nice alcove there that’s in the sunlight and surrounded by shelves, kinda hidden away, and Logan likes the quiet back there. They go there when they have projects to work on together. It’s pretty much their spot at this point

Janus is super duper fashionable, albeit in a lil bit of an edgy way, but one time Logan gives him one of his dad’s shirts from the 90’s (which is like 99% of Lo’s wardrobe) because it’s yellow and black, and Jan treasures it

Jan has a cat - Deviance - and normally Logan is iffy around animals but Dev loves him so he’s really comfortable around her 🥺

Logan knows how to play a little piano, mostly because he likes the way patterns in music are kinda like patterns in math, so Janus teaches him simple songs (and the occasional duet so they can play together but like not in a couple-y way or anything just for fun and stuff for sure)

Logan absolutely loves astronomy - Janus has no idea what he’s talking about when he gets into the scientific parts of stars and space, but he just really enjoys hearing Logan y’all about something he likes so he just nods along

They choose to ignore all of that, or chalk that up to him having a childhood trauma, completely disregard how he harmed Sansa, trauma he put Sansa through. Bc his pain & his desires are more important than Sansa's to those people. Then there’s the age-old expectation of women taking the role of caregivers for their partners. So now Sansa /3

should end up w him, so she can heal his trauma/pain, make him a better man. Who cares what's best for Sansa, who cares he was Sansa's abuser, Sansa should still play the therapist/mother/lover to him. That’s why this isn’t abt shipping bc this isn’t abt whether a story like Lolita should be written/read/liked. It’s abt people reading Lolita & thinking “Humbert’s such a nice guy, he loved her, took care of her. If only that ungrateful whore Dolores hadn’t left him, and appreciated him more.” /4

So sorry about the late response to this. I was trying to come up with something clever to add, but you’ve sort of said it all.

Sansans who seem to like Sansa have always been an enigma to me. It goes against logic that you can like her, and at the same time ship her with that. But I guess the real reason is that Sansa’s best interest just isn’t as important to them as it is to use her as a tool to heal a broken man.

They can try to justify it all they want by pretending that Sansa is romantically and sexually attracted to Sandor (and that we are the sexist ones, trying to take away her agency to choose him, yup, that too), but bottom line is that they are valuing the Hound and his trauma over Sansa. And you are probably right, anon, that this happens because society is so deeply coded to value men over women.

Did you see that pic of Cara sitting next to J at the ceremony? Seriously what is her deal. I feel like they are always next to each other at these things and Cara always has one eye on Scott. It's creepy!

I just saw it and wow, she really doesn’t go anywhere without cara huh? Their relationship is like incredibly weird and it’s even creeper how she always watches Scott at these things like chill?

I can’t think of a single public event they’ve been to where Cara wasn’t there and it’s just pretty strange. I don’t see his other cousins doing that, heck, his brothers don’t even do that.

Not to mention that shot of her snapping her eyes over to Scott during the botb video when he so much as moved? Or her watching them during the wof event? That death glare? It’s so weird I don’t even know. Like we get it, you set them up but Jesus, you aren’t involved in this relationship and you don’t have to monitor his every move when he’s with Tessa. I thought relationships were supposed to be built on trust but having your cousin make sure he doesn’t do anything untoward towards his skating partner at public events isn’t exactly a great way to show how much you trust them.

Anyway, their relationship is so incredibly unhealthy it’s amazing and having Cara hovering around them all the time is like the creepiest manifestation of that.
