the more i think about lesbian dee reynolds the more i agree with it... she fucks men to prove a point or to hurt them or to hurt herself. she has barely shown any genuine attraction to a man in the entire series it's all for show or because she feels like she has to. sure she hates women too the misogyny in her runs so deep but have you Seen her interact with the waitress. if she could get over her hatred enough to pay attention to the homoeroticism i think her life would be changed. need dee reynolds toxic yuri so badly

The Phantom Planet retcon really is just the icing on the cake. Like the story could have been the exact same with Danny finding a new purpose, Vlad acknowledging his problems, and Dan inside a clone body without the retcon, but nope! Everyone knowing about Danny's secret is no longer a thing! Bye bye!

Cody *who's blaster has been destroyed, spin kicking the head off a droid*: Who brings a knife to a fist fight?!
Rex *dodging behind some debris, grabbing a discarded knife*: Better question, who brings a blaster to a knife fight!?
B1- battle droid *facing Ahsoka as she spins through the air, lightsabers ablaze*: Who brings a lightsaber to a blaster fight?
Coy *watching Ahsoka bound around the battle field*: Uh most important question, who brings a child to a fight?!!?

Kinn the Star
Tumblr media
There is so much to say about this scene in the woods - where Kinn and Porsche are finally on equal footing, and they both take turns encouraging the other to open up.
One line from Kinn here sticks with me the most -
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He explains how he'd wanted to be a singer as a kid, entered a competition but quit. Not because he didn't do well, but because he thinks his father bribed the judges to let him win.
And my mind's just whirring with all the implications here:
First, there's what this shows of Kinn's character - he has all the makings of a nepo baby, and definitely uses his money and privileges to get things that he (or rather his father) wants (see: expensive diamond necklace that no one's ever going to wear). But, he also has pride and integrity - he can recognize when other people are more deserving than he is, and he doesn't want undue recognition. Not when it's something that would be personally meaningful to him otherwise.
Then I'm also struck by Korn's side of this (because I can't stop thinking about Korn's relationship with his sons) - was bribing the judges an act of fatherly care, one of those intrusive things that controlling parents do because they think it would be better for their kid (even when it's something their kid would hate)? Or did he see an opportunity to improve the family's reputation, and couldn't stand to see a Theerapanyakul lose? How did Korn take Kinn quitting, if that was the case?
Of course there's always the possibility that Korn didn't bribe the judges, and Kinn won on his own merit...
Tumblr media
never mind
That Kinn's long-forgotten dream was to be a singer of course reminds us of Kim, who's now following that same dream and seems to have carved out some freedom from the family in doing so. Did Kim's interest in singing come from Kinn, from bonding with his big brother/wanting to be like him? Did Korn meddle with Kim's career too, when he was young? Does he still try to?
And finally, it occurred to me on this rewatch that there's a bit of ambiguity here in just want kind of competition Kinn entered.
I'd always assumed it was a local competition - maybe one meant for kids, where they would compete first in their region/school and then the winners would move on to a larger, national competition. That would make sense for how Kinn could both win but also quit - he just didn't move on to the next competition.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But the phrasing here could also imply that Kinn went on an actual televised singing show! His family would certainly have the connections to get him on (and hey, they may or may not have a modelling agency now that would totally have hired Jom to star in a new series)...
Can you imagine baby Kinn singing his little heart out under the bright studio lights? How much he would have been adored and hated in equal measures by the viewers at home?
(There may be some who still talk about that weird kid on Thai Idol, who crooned out a bunch of oldies and stole the heart of the judges, but then dramatically bowed out in the very last episode...)

Holding on to my crumbling mental health to say that the animators really went all out with the action scenes in episode 12.
Like?? Rei kicking people around like an assassin ballerina? Kazuki's weirdly self sacrificial fighting style? Ryo Ogino being burnt and stabbed to death? The gunfights? The gore? The adrenaline? The drama??
Consider my violence-craving heart satisfied.

Fire Emblem Engage turning Robin into a massive antisocial nerd is so funny. His dynamic with Chrom is "me and the extrovert that adopted me." He doesn't leave their bracelet unless he has too. He's not in their summoning cut scene because he did the emblem equivalent of "five more minutes." He appears in four characters' bond convos, one of which is Chrom saying to Nel, "Damn girl, you can help people sleep, Robin loves sleep." And then she helps Robin sleep. In Awakening, Robin was a master tactician, he was social, he had a sleep schedule, he was the same height as Chrom, and now he hides in his bracelet, reads all day, and is a head shorter then Chrom. Brilliant.

Canonnly do you think Midge loves Lenny in anyway ?
I do.
Midge burst into snotty, helpless tears in that alley in 1965 because she knew she was losing him to the drugs.
Having had experience losing someone I cared very deeply for to that specific thing? I can confirm that you don't cry like that without love.
If you look at her private memory board, in the very last scene, there are pictures of Midge. Pictures of babies. A photo of her and Susie.
And Lenny's Carnegie Hall playbill.
No other recognizable character can be seen on that board. Midge. Susie. Lenny.
She also kept the fortune. Tiny Lil slip of paper.
That was in what? 2004? 2005?
That is a long, long time to keep track of a tiny, tiny slip of paper from a night 45 years previous if his words and adoration didn't mean much to her.
You don't do that for people you've forgotten. People you don't love in some way.

I have some extremely juicy news about Twitter I’d like to share here for those unaware, because it actually has kind of huge implications for account security/data privacy in general.
TL;DR: Twitter asked users for phone numbers/e-mail under the false pretense of requiring them to secure accounts (MFA) and then used that personally-identifying data to profit from advertisers. The Federal Trade Commission ordered them to pay a $150M penalty and MORE IMPORTANTLY they are forced to allow other means (security key, MFA app) and *NOT* phone numbers to meet that security need. TWITTER IS DOING ITS BEST NOT TO ADVERTISE JUST HOW MUCH THEY LOST AND WHAT A GREAT PRECEDENT THIS IS FOR THE REST OF US.
Details follow.
This morning I logged on to Twitter and saw a huge banner about how Twitter cares about your privacy that led to an article that more or less read “oopsies, we may have accidentally asked people for their phone numbers for privacy, and wow! our fingies slipped and we made a teensie widdle boo-boo and profited off of that data.” This article pissed me the fuck off, but it vaguely mentioned a settlement with the Federal Trade Commission. I looked that up because I wanted to see what kind of slap on the wrist they got for this BS.
AND. GREAT NEWS, EVERYONE. THESE MOTHERFUCKERS HAVE FACED SOMETHING THAT MIGHT ACTUALLY BE A CONSEQUENCE.
Article here: https://www.ftc.gov/news-events/news/press-releases/2022/05/ftc-charges-twitter-deceptively-using-account-security-data-sell-targeted-ads
Now there’s a lot in there but, quoting directly, in addition to paying $150M, the settlement must:
prohibit Twitter from profiting from deceptively collected data;
allow users to use other multi-factor authentication methods such as mobile authentication apps or security keys that do not require users to provide their telephone numbers;
notify users that it misused phone numbers and email addresses collected for account security to also target ads to them and provide information about Twitter’s privacy and security controls;
implement and maintain a comprehensive privacy and information security program that requires the company, among other things, to examine and address the potential privacy and security risks of new products;
limit employee access to users’ personal data; and
notify the FTC if the company experiences a data breach.
ITEMS 2 AND 3 (bolded) ARE OF KEY INTEREST HERE.
Bullet point 2 means the app CANNOT force you to disclose your phone number under the pretense of “security.” If you, as I was a couple years ago, are forced to provide additional information to protect your account (some accounts I care deeply about protecting with MFA. Twitter isn’t one of them. Furthermore, providing this phone number DID NOT EVEN FORCE 2FA, so I already had a hunch it was fishy) you now have the option to remove your phone number completely and supply a security key or MFA app instead.
The company has proven it cannot be trusted with your personal information. This isn’t surprising but it’s now concrete. So do not give it to them.
(If you have an iOS device I recommend OTP Authenticator, has a very good track record for not tracking you like some others might - looking at Microsoft Authenticator - doing just what it needs to and doing it securely.)
Bullet point 3 is the reason I got that half-assed banner on Twitter. They were forced to notify users of the misuse and of the new non-personally-identifying security methods, so they made a banner vaguely mentioning the FTC and vaguely mentioning their security settings. They are NOT advertising the fact that you don’t have to provide your phone # anymore, which I can’t help but feel is because they are sorry they got caught, and have every intent to be shitty with your information again given the chance.
Below is a screenshot of part of Twitter’s required communication on the topic. Transcription follows.
Tumblr media
Transcription:
“We may have asked for your phone number or email address to secure or authenticate your account (for example, for two-factor authentication). As we told you in October 2019, we may have used these phone numbers or email addresses to deliver tailored advertising to you on Twitter until September 2019. On June 6, 2022, we entered into a settlement with the Federal Trade Commission to resolve this issue.
As of September 17, 2019, we are no longer using phone numbers or email addresses collected for safety or security purposes for advertising. We never disclosed or shared your phone number or email addresses with advertisers. There is no action that you need to take regarding this issue.
You have a number of options to control your privacy and security when you use Twitter:
* Control your privacy settings. You can find out more about your privacy settings on Twitter, including how to enable or disable personalized ads, by visiting https://myprivacy.twitter.com.”
End of transcription. The rest of the article wasn’t screenshotted, this was the important part.
This was the extent of Twitter’s communication. Compare it to the actual agreement reached by the FTC. There’s a reason I read Twitter’s version of events and got pissed off... their propaganda worked, until I read more into it. They really tried to brush over the fact that they faced real and tangible consequences and now you can straight up take your phone number off of your Twitter account, use other means to secure it, and tell them to go fuck themselves.
MORE LIKE THIS PLEASE!!!
