INTERVIEWER: I had asked you if you were a violent person before the murder, and I told you that I know a few people who are very charismatic, polite, and sociable… but sometimes something sets them off and they become incredibly violent. I would like to know if you are generally the same way.

FAUST: I think if you ask people generally, they will say I am nice, polite and well-mannered (hopefully – haha) and I always try to have a good attitude towards things. My fuse is quite long and it normally takes a time before something really angers me. Earlier I could really take off when losing control, but nowadays the anger has calmed. I am more a relaxed person now, more in harmony with myself. I think I have got a much better self-control now, than for, let's say, 7-10 years ago, much thanks to weight-lifting and boxing in the prison which is a good way to get out aggression. I always try to analyze myself; to try figuring out why I react to things the way I do in order to gain even better self-insight since I would never put myself in a situation again where I intentionally wants to hurt people physically.

When did you first meet Euronymous?

-I met Euronymous and Dead at an Anthrax concert in Oslo in 1989, when Øystein was selling his records at the entrance.

Were they how you imagined them to be?

-They looked exactly as I expected. Dead was almost as tall as me, only very, very thin. He had long hair and many symbols and band logos on his jacket. They behaved as I expected, they didn’t talk much, mostly about business, about records, but in general they were nice.

You were at the Mayhem concert in 1990, one of their rare public appearances?

- Yes, this was their first official concert. Dead cut himself very badly. Naturally, on purpose. He broke the bottle and cut himself, leaving a deep scar. He was supposed to go to the hospital, but it was too late to get stitches. I remember that after the concert he was very ill and in pain from heavy blood loss. - Lords of Chaos: The Bloody Rise of the Satanic Metal Underground 🦇
