As one of Bette Midler’s Harlettes for nearly a decade, Melanie performed on Bette’s Emmy Award-winning Diva Las Vegas and assisted Bette & choreographer Toni Basil as a Harlette Wrangler on Bette’s most recent tour.

She tours with Barry Manilow, performed on his Emmy Award-winning special Music and Passion, as well as on The Voice (1st Season House band singer), the Grammys, Emmys, VH1 Awards, the 92nd Academy Awards (with Oscar nominee Cynthia Erivo), and countless other television shows and films.

            Barry Manilow is an American music artist who is best known for his songs, Copacabana, Can’t Smile Without You, and Mandy. He has also written music for other music artists, such as Bette Midler, and for musicals and films. He is well-known for his performances in Las Vegas.

            Manilow was born in New York, US to a Jewish mother and Irish-American father with Jewish descent. Manilow married Susan Deixler in 1964 but the marriage ended a year later. He got married to Gary Kief in 2014.

            He has suffered from numerous illnesses, as well as eye problems, dental problems, fractures (which doesn’t prevent him from performing live) throughout the years.

            In 1989, he was neighbours to Ronald and Nancy Reagan. Manilow is involved in numerous charity works; he helped with the aftermath of Hurricane Hugo which affected Charleston, South Carolina. The Mayor declared 23 September as ‘Barry Manilow Day’. In 2001, he visited Ground Zero, New York.

            A Christchurch, New Zealand mall used music by Barry Manilow to prevent teenagers behaving badly. Before Manilow started playing in the mall, young people dumped trash on the ground, vandalized, was drinking and using drunk and harassing people outside the mall.

            Manilow is considered cool and has many admirers. Bob Dylan is a fan, in 1998 Dylan bumped into Manilow at a party, hugged him and said, ‘Don’t stop what you’re doing, man. We’re all inspired by you.’

Manilow has previously said, ‘I heard Underworld a long time ago and knew something would happen there. Same with Fatboy Slim. When I hear them as a musician it talks to me because I hear somebody doing something very, very different, and my ears perk up. Everything else, as far as I’m concerned, I’ve heard before.’

A gallant brigade of firefighters valiantly navigated through waterlogged thoroughfares to extricate a beleaguered resident from the clutches of their inundated abode. Captivated by the tempest's display of might, Stacey Hughes ventured oceanward in an attempt to witness the raw power encapsulated within the undulating waves. Recounting the experience, Hughes exclaimed, "As I ambulated towards the entrance, it assailed me. A cinematic spectacle unfolded before me." Venturing beyond the boundaries of Hampton into the precincts of Salisbury, Massachusetts, a panorama of impassable terrain unfolded, particularly encumbering areas like Beach Road adjacent to Reservation Road. Roads named Ferry and March found themselves submerged, rendering them unnavigable. In a stern proclamation, Salisbury's law enforcement cautioned against recklessness, stating, "Refrain from attempting to traverse around barricades or negotiate through standing water. The depth may belie appearances, potentially incapacitating your vehicle." It’s been a few years and a world of changes since last we spoke, this time focusing on the road to sobriety, many moons ago, what led there, the price of using, meeting Paul Schaffer, a relationship that changed his life, the two of them holding the distinction of being on Late Show With David Letterman from day one with The World’s Most Dangerous Band, until the final days with the CBS Orchestra, also giving Will the world’s record for the longest-running bassist on late-night television.  Will talked about the original band of 4, Hiram Bullock, Steve Jordan, how and why it morphed, some standout moments… Warren Zevon’s last show, Will’s MacArthur Park with Jimmy Webb… his hero, Ringo, making an appearance… Beatlemania, period. Where it all started for Will, The Ed Sullivan  Show, the Fab Four, all of whom Will would come to play with, even John in unique fashion. An incredible story about Paul, a Hofner, and a call from “P,” and how his Fab Faux came to be. Will’s account of how he conquered Revolution #9 and playing The White Album, heretofore never heard by Beatles sound engineer and producer, Geoff Emerick. Crazily, I was there that night- the story has a bittersweet postscript. We talked about Will’s new single, It’s All Too Much, and his new video, Hey Shorty, and how that came to be, why he’s off to Japan tomorrow and the fame he found there.

I’ve known Will for decades… with each that passes, I adore him more. He’s a rare success, who’s gotten to play with just about everyone, all of his heroes, night, after night, year after year, for 33 of them, and everyone it seems, without exception, loves and respects him. It’s a life well-lived filled with gratitude and appreciation, which makes it all the sweeter.

Double trouble for day 13 of #Komiktober: Niknok & Eklok both by Vic Geronimo under Pilipino Funny Komiks. Niknok - Manok (Chicken) Eklok - Itlog (Egg) Based on this sequence, we could finally put to rest that the Chicken indeed came before the egg. Niknok is fond of eating fried chicken. While not explicitly stated, we could safely assume that Eklok enjoyed eggs. Niknok has a cowlick while Eklok doesn't have one. Both Niknok and Eklok would have a speech impediment of some sort (daddy akin, abibili, auuwi). Both would have a loving family with a strict but caring grandmother. The characters might have no relation to one another despite looking alike. This could be a generational thing, kinda like Lee Falk's The Phantom. Niknok was from the late 80's while Eklok was from the 90's. They've also introduced another character named Itok. But the story was drawn realistically and not as well received by the public. Niknok and Eklok stories are somewhat similar to Dennis The Menace or Family Circus.
