After nearly running over him with her cab, Patty Mitchell picks up a fare who claims to have amnesia. JANE GREER -- was a teenage model who was born BETTEJANE GREER. She also sang with ENRIC MADIGUERA'S Latin band. Jane learned Spanish song lyrics phonetically to sing with them. HOWARD HUGHES saw her modeling in a 1942 LIFE magazine. Hughes signed Jane. His loaning her to RKO led to the iconic film "Out of the Past" (1947) with ROBERT MITCHUM. (The pair did a parody of the film on "Saturday Night Live" in 1987) Jane did 28 films plus series television. She died in 2001, age 76.

Jane Greer

Jane Greer (born September 9, 1924 in Washington, D.C.) was an American actress born as Bettejane Greer. A beauty-contest winner and a professional model from her teens, Greer began her show-business career as a big-band singer. Her beautiful face and enigmatic expression led her to being promoted as  'The Woman with the Mona Lisa smile' and starring in Hollywood productions, including Dick Tracy (1945) and  Out of the Past (1947). She had a long acting career and retired in 1996. Greer died of cancer at the age of 76 at home in Los Angeles.
