One of my favorite fics of all time is Evangelist by @valleydean. It's really enemies to friends to lovers but the enemies part becomes friends pretty quickly because they are deeply obsessed with each other. One of the classics if you haven't read it is To Build a Home. Childhood friends who broke up and find themselves back in each other’s life. It is very angsty but they have a lifelong friendship so you get a lot of childhood and teenage friendship moments. If I may self recommend, I just wrote Can't Fight the Moonlight in which they are in this post canon partnership and both want to add sexual intimacy but the partnership is soft so you get some really fun platonic intimacy. It's not AU, obviously, but may have something of what you want. Seraph by @dothraki-shieldmaiden is a superhero au where they are friends and roommates to lovers. It has great world building. More than Kisses by @friendofcarlotta is a friends to lovers epistolary romance. Dean and Cas are pen pals and they share an absolutely gorgeous emotional intimacy. Tiamatv has a few that fit the bill. I'm gonna mention Marchen because I love the world built in that one. Dean Winchester is a prince locked in a tower. They were childhood best friends in that one "A Midterms Night's Dream" by Englandwouldfall is an au where they're roommates (oh my god they were rommates). "In Some Sacred Place" by schmerzerling is a good one where they're friends throughout most of the fic, but it's kind of depressing overall

Reporting back about my tags here (or see link above) as asked, after having watched s2 with my mom now:

She didn't really have any reaction to the speech and kiss tbh. After finishing the episode she only said 'that was so sad. This is terrible. Why would one end a season like this. This is so sad, I'm gonna go to bed." 😆 She kept on mumbling this over and over afterwards. She also said 'the Gabriel and Beelzebub thing I really didn't see coming', so I assume from that Aziraphale and Crowley wasn't as big a surprise even though she was not a shipper (before?). She seemed really invested in getting a happy end to their story now though and asked for a season 3.

Omg SUCH a mum reaction! Also very real of her not to see beelzebub and gabriel coming, only upon my rewatches i’ve picked up on all the hints. I love how invested she is in a happy end 🥺❤️ you could become secret tumblr friends azdjdjd

You know what, Taron has reminded me of Leo so much, especially Leo from Catch Me If You Can, so this doesn’t surprise me at all. And you’re right, there is something Leo-esque about that mystery man. Oh dang, it probably is Taron in those photos.
