Why did Lord Krishna pick a peacock feather specifically and not another bird's feather?
There are many folktales famous regarding sri krishna and peacock feather.
1. Sign of Radha’s love : once, sri krishna was performing Rasleela with Radha, The peacocks were also dancing with them . During Rasleela, The feather of a peacock fell down in earth. Sri krishna pick up it and put in his forehead. When Radha asked krishna that why did he took up peacock feather then sri krishna replied that this peacock’s feather is sign of our love.
2. Colour of life : The peacock’s feather consist of all colours. This colour indicates that life is also like colours , sometimes happiness sometimes sadness.
3. Grah dosh : Many astrologer believe that He had Kaal Sarp Dosha in his horoscope. Wearing peacock feather removes this defect.
4. Sign of purity : Many people who has little knowledge believes that peacock do not perform sexual activities. Peahen become pregnant by drinking the tears of peacock that’s why sri krishna wears the feather of this sacred bird.
5. Friend and enemy are equal for him : people makes once more logic that sri krishna take rest on sheshnaag (serpent) and peacock eats snake. So krishna gives message that Friend and enemy are equal for him.
