-> can I write a fic about din djarin without piling on the exposition? absolutely not. also bonus, this is my submission/entry/funtime for @prolix-yuy’s #bangathon2024! the wheel bestowed upon me the placid embrace, and I embraced the HELL out of it. fair warning this is unedited, I’m squeaking under the bangathon deadline here, but I had an idea and I ran with it! hope y’all enjoy 🤍
word count: 8.4k
warnings: canon-typical violence (a bit bloodier), possibly slightly OOC din djarin, descriptions of female body, unprotected p-in-v (wrap your shit in space too ok), din has a lot of feelings and has zero idea what they mean, the helmet comes off, reader is a seer/has visions, still not sure if I love the ending but here goes nothing!

He just can’t seem to catch a break.
“I don’t have the parts,” the smith is telling him, looking at Din’s broken vambrace with a pinched brow. “I can order ‘em in, but it’ll take a day or so to get ‘em here, another day or two to fix it. You gonna be here in four days?”
He takes the hunk of metal back, sliding his hand through the opening with a shake of his helmet, securing it back around his wrist. “Thank you for your time.”
The market is bustling with people. He can’t remember how long it’s been since he was on Batuu, but Black Spire Outpost is the same as it was the last time he touched the Crest down for repairs and refuelling. Except this time, there’s a tracking fob at his hip, a puck detailing his current bounty tucked into one of the pockets on his belt. The fob has been beeping slowly since he disembarked at the port, reluctantly paying the obscene amount of credits it cost to leave his ship for a day.
Not that it matters — the amount he’ll make on this job more than covers it. Two times over and then some. Once he delivers, he can go back to Nevarro, get his armour fixed, and onto the next one. The cycle continues, such is the life of a bounty hunter.
It’s not the life he would have picked for himself, he muses as he makes his way through the Outpost. But then, he wonders how many people in this galaxy have the lives they would have chosen, given the chance. Even the one he’s hunting.
Especially the one he’s hunting.
Din had been half-listening to Karga’s regular spiel about the bounty, but his ears perked up at the number of credits waiting for him at the finish line. “The ones who ordered the bounty, what planet are they from?”
“Savareen,” Karga had replied with a slight shudder. “Some backwater place on the Kessel Run. Don’t know how this coven got their hands on enough credits for something like this, but I know better than to ask questions. And the bounty isn’t on Savareen. She escaped and made it to Batuu somehow; I’m fuzzy on the details. All I know is the intel we have has her there still, and she killed both the fighters the witches sent after her. Feisty thing.”
“They didn’t give you anything else?”
“Only that she’s very valuable and they need her back before the next full moon.”
He’d slid the bounty puck across the table to Din then, the hologram flickering to life as he did. The face before him was too young, too innocent. You’d killed two fighters? Looking at you, Din wondered if you knew which end of the blaster to hold. But he held his tongue; he’d judged other bounties too quickly in the past, and had the scars to prove it.
Continuing through Black Spire, Din keeps his head down, but his eyes peeled. The fob is still beeping slowly, but as he turns down an alley, away from the busy market, the noise picks up. He keeps going, coming to a stop ahead of a small group of people. He lingers back, not making himself obvious as he observes.
An elderly man with a thick beard stares up at the sky, murmuring under his breath while two younger people seem to hang on his every word, holding his arms up for him. More people sit on the ground before the man, all staring at him intently.
The cloaked figure hanging at the edge of the group, hood obscuring their face, catches his attention. Their stance is tight, nervous, feet shuffling in the dirt with every word the elderly man says. To an untrained eye, they would look no different than Din himself, observing the group, lingering at the edge. But Din knows better.
The figure takes off as he takes a single step forward, hand resting on his blaster. In a flutter of dark fabric, he takes off after them, dodging the enthralled people on the ground, careful not to knock anyone over as he darts up the alleyway.
The fob is beeping rapidly now, quickening with every inch he gains on the cloaked figure, on you.
He grunts beneath his helmet, arms pumping as he runs, legs burning with exertion. He can’t remember the last time he sprinted after a bounty.
You’re relentless, taking hard lefts and rights any chance you get, but your scared movements are predictable, and Din finds it too easy to follow you, despite his racing heart and the sweat gathering on the back of his neck beneath his helmet. But your constant turning leads the chase back into the heart of the Outpost, and you’re moving too fast to stop from sliding into the large cart that pulls out suddenly into your path.
Din winces at the crash, your body crumpling to the ground and the cart’s contents pouring over your head. The merchant pushing the cart tries to help you up, but Din is quicker, hiding his heaving chest by straightening his shoulders, grabbing you by the arm and hauling you up.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t see you,” the merchant starts, and Din lifts a hand, silencing him as he pulls a set of cuffs from his belt and slaps one around your wrist. You don’t fight him, surprisingly, offering your other wrist for him to clasp the cuff around. He’s grateful you can’t see his expression, the mix of confusion and surprise that has his brows shooting up beneath the helmet.
Strange.
He flicks the merchant a credit. “Did half the job for me,” he says, and grabs you by the shoulder, maneuvering around the stalled cart and back in the direction of the Razor Crest.
You don’t protest, keeping pace beside him, the corner of your mouth twitching as you walk. “You took longer than I thought you would, Mandalorian.”

The visions started when you were small.
They’ve always been a part of you, long as you can remember, and before you knew their true purpose, you thought them dreams, blips of darkness that occasionally came to call, taking you over and leaving you with knowledge that, most of the time, you didn’t want.
You were only seven when your family gave you to the coven. Your parents — scared of you, scared of the truths that spilled from your lips, truths you had no right knowing — sent you off without a second thought, assured by the coven’s leader that they would do right by you, that you’d grow to control your gifts, and could someday return home to Naboo a different girl.
But the control never came. The visions only grew more sporadic when you were under the coven’s care. They cared for you, that much was true — they fed and clothed you, gave you a roof over your head, a bed to sleep in. Someone watched you constantly, and anytime a vision struck, you were to immediately relay what you saw, provide as many details as you could, and on life would go.
Twenty years later, and still your control has not surfaced. But something changed.
The visions showed you the truth. You don’t know what gods are watching over you, if the Maker has any hand in it, but you know what you saw.
From the moment you had been handed over to the coven’s care, they had been poisoning you. Your drinking water sullied with a rare toxin from plants only native to Savareen. The toxin blocked out any control you might have over the visions, leaving you at their mercy. And you weren’t the first — they’d done it to a hundred seers before you. You just happened to have lasted the longest.
Anything you saw that was of use, names you couldn’t make sense of or planets you’d never been to, was cross-referenced across the coven’s expansive database of knowledge, created by the seers’ visions. And anything of true import was fed directly to the Empire.
And if you revealed what you knew, the truth of their game unraveled, they’d sacrifice you in the name of their god, as they had with every seer come before you.
When the vision finally released you, your warden of the day ready to record what you’d seen, you spat out a lie. A pretty one, with as much detail as you could muster that wouldn’t sound suspicious. The lakes on Naboo you once swam in, cool water warmed by the sun, the glint of sunlight off metal. A dream you’d had many times. Your warden seemed to believe it, scribbling away in a journal before sending you on your way.
It was obvious, what needed to be done. If you wanted to live, you needed to leave.
Easier said than done, unfortunately. The coven lived in a commune deep in the Savareen forests. Far from any marketplaces or spaceports. You would be travelling for days just to get away from them, and days longer until you came upon anything of use.
So it became a process — quietly gathering what supplies you could, explaining it away when your warden questioned you, sneaking around in the night while the coven slept. The first time an opportunity presented itself, you grabbed your things and ran, ducking away under the cover of dark.
More than a week, you walked. You rationed the food you’d taken, slept on the hard ground with a knife in your hand. You only slept a few hours at a time, forcing yourself to your feet and travelling another few hours before allowing yourself more rest. The further you got, the better.
You drank only fresh water from the streams, boiled over a fire to make it safe, and as you travelled, something akin to control settled over you like a blanket. The visions still surfaced, peeling away the edges of your mind, but they were easier to push back, easier to hold at bay until you had a moment to entertain them, to watch with a keen eye rather than a startled one.
You saw him on your fifth night. Stopped at the edge of the forest, the desert spread out before you, you rested. The coven elders rarely let anyone past the commune’s borders, though you knew they’d send someone after you. But that night, your visions promised peace, a good night’s sleep beside your small fire, the blanket of stars and moons above you standing vigil.
So you let the vision take over. You saw a helmeted man, his armour having seen better days. Your mind recalled the style of the armour, a holo-pads the coven used to educate you about the galaxy as you grew — or to make your visions more potent, you wondered now.
A Mandalorian.
A torn cloak fluttered behind him, a rifle strapped to his back. As you watched, he held out one gloved hand to you, the other lifting his helmet just enough to expose his mouth — unfairly full lips and a patchy beard. His name whispered on the wind, a voice that sounded like your own.
Din Djarin.
He stepped toward you, hand still outstretched, closer and closer until the warmth of his palm cupped your cheek, his thumb swiping your cheek.
“Safe,” he whispered, the word sinking into your chest with a warmth you couldn’t quite understand.
And then the vision faded. You came back to yourself, to your small fire and your blanket of stars, and without another thought, you slept.
The moment you reached the spaceport — if you could even call it that — you snuck onto the first cargo ship you spotted, tucked yourself in with the crates and hid the best you could. It didn’t matter where it was headed, you just needed out.
The cargo ship brought you to Jabiim, and it was safe, for a time. You stole when you needed to, found the odd merchant willing to pay you for a day’s work, sold the few things you’d taken from the coven for credits. You holed up in a boarding house, flexing your control over your visions like training a muscle.
You waited for your Mandalorian to appear.
He didn’t, but two of the coven’s warriors did.
They couldn’t have known the visions had warned you. Couldn’t have known that you’d booby-trapped every inch of your room in the boarding house. They didn’t know you’d seen not only that they’d come for you, but the how and the when, that you knew how you’d keep yourself alive.
It was bloody business, and had you slipping out the back door before morning came, hiding on the next cargo ship that left the spaceport.
And the cycle continued, until you landed yourself on Batuu.
You haven’t been here long. Black Spire is the biggest outpost you’ve ever seen — not that you’ve seen many to compare it to — and it works to your advantage at first, offering a plethora of trails to lose your pursuer. You know it’s him, knew it was him the moment he stepped up to the group of people listening to that old man preaching about the stories in the stars. The tinted armour, each piece damaged in some way, the pristine helmet. The way he crossed his arms over his chest and leaned against the wall was familiar to you, and your chest fluttered with the word he’d murmured to you in your vision.
Safe.
Except, you’re anything but. You can hear the beeping, see the way his hand hovers over his blaster. As soon as you see an opening, you take it, and it’s almost enough.
Until that cart comes out of nowhere — you didn’t see that in any vision — and knocks you on your ass. You give your hands over willingly to the Mandalorian when he hauls you to your feet, letting him cuff you, start to drag you off through the Outpost.
You try to suppress the grin that tugs at your lips. “You took longer than I thought you would, Mandalorian.”
He seems to balk at your claim, his shoulders going tight, not that you can see his expression. But you can imagine those full lips clear as day, the patchy beard, the bare spots the perfect size for your thumb to fit into.
Strength and a certain kind of ferocity seems to roll off of him, pushing every person out of your way as he leads you back toward his ship. Your head throbs with every step, your tongue numb where it got caught between your teeth when the cart hit you. It makes your blanket of control waver, a hole appearing in your armour, and your pulse quickens.
The Mandalorian all but pushes you up the ramp and into his ship. It’s nothing fancy, full of spare parts and rusted metal, but when he steers you toward the back of the ship, you see the carbonite chamber, people of every species encased in black, their expressions pained. Your heart is in your throat, rioting around, making your palms sweat.
“Go,” he tells you, gesturing at the empty platform in front of you, the chamber’s tubes steaming as he flicks a switch.
“P-please,” you manage to squeak out. Your control is gone, replaced with fear and anxiety. You pull against the cuffs, trying to turn your body away from the machine, but it’s too late.
The vision takes over, and everything goes dark.
+
Din catches you before you hit the ground.
In an instant, you shift from every other pleading bounty he’s shoved into the carbonite chamber, into something more. Your eyes roll back in your head, your body going limp, and it’s a miracle he manages to grab you before your head cracks off the metal. But he does it, grunting with the effort, wincing when he feels the jab of your shoulder in the crook of his elbow.
And he freezes.
Something in his chest goes tight, a taut string that has his ribs in a vice. It whispers that he knows you, that he’s seen your face a million times before even though this is the first day he’s ever set eyes on you. Like a part of his heart calls for yours.
It makes him stumble back a step, jostling you, your body leaning more fully into his. He’s enveloped in your warmth, the scent of you sneaking beneath his helmet, tormenting him.
I know you I know you I know you.
His gloved hand shakes as he brushes the hair from your forehead, looking at your face more fully. He studies you, the slope of your nose and the fan of your lashes. He has half a mind to take his gloves off, to feel your hair slip between his knuckles. The blood in the corner of your mouth makes something like panic shoot through him and he slips his other arm behind your knees, lifting you up and off the ground.
It takes some maneuvering, using his elbow to jab the button that lifts the door to his bed. He lays you out carefully, reaching for the medkit he keeps stashed near his pillow. He pushes back the strange feeling, focusing on the task at hand. He’s dealt with his fair share of head injuries, knows how precarious they can be. And he’s figured it out, over time — the best place to put the bacta patches, what mednog helps more than it hinders.
Din places the last of four patches behind your ear, right along the curve of your neck. You let out a quiet hum, arching your head into his palm, and he inhales deeply.
“I know you,” he murmurs, and doesn’t quite realize he’s said the words out loud until your lashes flutter, eyes shooting open and your body following suit. “Easy,” he commands, grabbing your shoulders, making you flinch. “You’re alright, just don’t move too fast.”
Your breath comes in short bursts, and Din realizes there are tears lining your eyes, one single drop sliding down your cheek. His fingers itch to brush them away, but he resists the urge, releasing you and curling them into fists instead.
Your eyes finally land on him, and the corner of your mouth twitches, like it had in the Outpost.
“Who are you?” he asks. You know her, his mind counters.
“I could ask you the same thing,” you retort, rubbing a hand across the back of your neck. You must find the bacta patch, because your brow furrows. “You…helped me?”
“Don’t think much of it,” he tells you, bracing his hands on his knees and pushing himself up off the cot. “I’m taking you back to Savareen.”
He sees the fear cover you like a veil, watches it pinch at your eyes and tug at your lips. The feeling rears its head, screaming at him that he’s doing wrong, but he beats it back.
“Please,” you say again, the same squeak you’d let out before you passed out in the carbonite chamber. “Please don’t take me back. They’re going to kill me, they’ll—”
“They’re paying me a ridiculous amount of credits to bring you back,” Din answers, cutting you off and turning his back on you. “And I’m gonna do just that.”
“At least listen to my side of the story,” you call after him. You pause a beat, and then— “Din Djarin.”
He can’t remember the last time he heard his name on a woman’s lips. Hearing it on yours is something else entirely.
His mind is at war with itself as he whirls. “How did you—?”
“Let me tell my side,” you reiterate, holding your hands up, surrendering. “And if you still want to take my back and collect your bounty, fine.”
He doesn’t say a word, but leans back on one foot, crossing his arms over his chest. You take it as a yes, leaning back slightly, straightening your back. Your tongue darts out to wet your lips, and Din clenches his teeth.
“I’m a seer,” you say slowly, eyes darting everywhere except his helmet. “I have visions. Always have, long as I can remember. I was born on Naboo, but my family gave me over to the Savareen coven when I was seven. They raised me, and it was all well and good until my visions told me the truth.”
You don’t continue right away, eyes finally landing on Din’s visor. “What truth?” he prompts.
“They were poisoning me,” you said, your voice shaking. “And the poison took away my control of the visions. A seer should be able to allow the visions to come when they wish, not be constantly at their mercy. They wanted me to see as much as I could, and everything I saw, the elders ran through their databases. Anything useful they fed to the Empire.”
The mention of the Empire makes him jump.
“And I’m not the first. They’ve done this to a hundred seers before me, and killed them all as soon as they figured out the truth. It’s a cycle, one I played into the moment I escaped. They know that I know the truth, and they’ll kill me for it and tell the rest of the coven that I was a willing sacrifice, for the safety of the rest of them.”
A sad laugh passes your lips, and Din’s chest feels hollow.
“And the worst part is: they’ll all believe them. The people that raised me, my friends, if you can call them that. They’ll believe I died willingly, for the greater good.”
You drop your face into your hands and everything in him begs him to comfort you, hold you, keep you safe.
No good will come of this, the rational part of him says. He could ruin his reputation with the Guild, and where would that leave him? Bounty hunting has always been his trade, his talent. He would go back to the Covert, ashamed.
But the sound of your voice has him quickly grasping for compromise. A final kindness, to please the beast in his chest.
“I’ll give you one thing,” he says, and your head shoots up. “One last…wish, I guess. Before I take you back.”
Din swears there are stars in your eyes. “A wish?”
He nods the helmet slightly. “Name it,” he says, “and don’t say setting you free.”
You think for a moment, a million emotions crossing your face before you seem to make your decision. “Naboo,” you say, your expression calm, almost serene. “Take me back to Naboo. I want to swim in the lake, like I did as a child. One last time, before I die.”
+
You think he’s going to fight you on it. You studied galactic maps with the coven, part of the studies they allowed, and you know just how far it is from Batuu to Naboo — you know it’s about the same distance as Batuu is from Savareen, in the complete opposite direction.
You wait for the no to reach your ears, for the disappointment and acceptance of your lot to settle in. But instead, he just nods again, turns on his heel and disappears from the ship’s hold, leaving you alone, still sitting on the edge of the Mandalorian’s bed.
A moment later, you hear the tell-tale hum of the ship’s engine. Another beat, and his voice sounds through the intercom beside the cot. “Get up here and strap yourself in. Don’t need you getting thrown around down there.”
Swallowing hard, you get to your feet and walking slowly toward the ladder he’d disappeared up. The rungs are cold beneath your hands, a reminder that this isn’t all a dream, or one of your visions.
He doesn’t turn his head when you step into the ship’s cockpit, doesn’t say a word as you settle into the chair in the corner of the space. You fumble with the belt straps, tightening them around you as his gloved hands move across the ship’s dashboard, pressing buttons and turning dials. The engine grows louder as the ship starts to hover, and you brace your hands on the armrests of your seat.
You’re both silent, the entire trip. After the initial jolt through hyperspace, you find the movement relaxing, and you don’t realize you’ve nodded off until you feel a warm hand on your ankle, the Mandalorian having reached for your outstretched foot to nudge you awake.
“The drop out of hyperspace can get a bit rocky around this sector.”
You nod at the warning, ignoring the sharp tug in your stomach at the rumble of his voice through his helmet. Adjusting yourself in the seat, you find yourself staring at the back of his helmet, the curve of the metal. When he turns his head to speak to you, you catch a glimpse of his chin, dipping as he talks.
“Hold on tight.”
The jolt makes you shut your eyes, gripping the armrests as tight as you can. The ship wavers and dips, the hull shaking and groaning with the effort and you bite your lip so hard you taste blood.
“Almost there.”
You don’t open your eyes until the ship has stopped completely, the sound of the engine whirring into shutdown making your breath come easier. When you open them, you’re met with a lush forest, a clearing just large enough for the ship to touch down in.
Naboo.
You’re out of your seat in the flash, nearly tumbling down the ladder back into the hold, desperate to be out and breathing in the fresh air so close you think you could taste it. The Mandalorian follows at a slower pace, reaching around your bouncing form to activate the ramp and open the door.
“Don’t go far,” he tells you, warning lacing his tone. “If you—”
“I won’t leave your sight, Din Djarin,” you tell him, quietly revelling in the way his entire form stills at your use of his name. “I promise, you won’t need to chase after me.”
You leave him to ponder your words, and step out and into the sunlight.
+
He stands on the Crest’s ramp longer than he should, watching you step out into the clearing. He found a good spot to land, forest wrapping around, a large lake sprawled out before you. The air is warm, fresh, invading his senses.
He watches you take off toward the water, shedding your cloak and top as you go, tossing the fabric aside. The bare expanse of your skin makes his throat go tight, makes the waist of his flight suit feel tighter than normal. As you reach the water’s edge, you crouch to pull off your shoes, straighten to shuck your pants down your legs.
Din only gets a brief glimpse at your bare lower half before you’re sprinting into the water, your laughter loud enough to send birds to the skies, disturbed from their homes in the trees. Beneath the helmet, he smiles.
You swim for hours. Din lets you take your time, your excitement getting the better of him. He tracks your head along the surface of the lake, turns his gaze to the ground when you float on your back. Din calls you back when the sun starts to set, finds something resembling dinner from the crates and boxes in the Crest’s hold. He leaves a blanket at the water’s edge as you swim back, and you eat sitting side by side on the ship’s ramp, your warm body inches from his.
A million questions dance on his tongue, the heat gathering beneath his helmet spurred by the way you lick your fingers clean when you’re done eating, sucking the juice of the fruit he found off your thumb.
How did you know his name?
Why does he feel the way that he does?
Why does he know you?
The sun dips lower, painting the sky a brilliant array of colours, orange into yellow into lavender and back again. The air is still warm, but a cold breeze blows, making the hair on the back of his neck stand on end.
Or maybe it’s the way you rise from your seat, the blanket draped around your shoulders, the way the sun covers you in a glow. He watches you make your way back to the water’s edge, but when you’re halfway there, he stands and follows you.
Din pauses when you reach the shore, the blanket dropping into a puddle of fabric near your clothes. You’re backlit by the sun, a silhouette he wants to trace again and again. “You could join me,” you call over your shoulder, stepping further and further into the water. “The water’s warmer than the air, you know.”
“Helmet takes too long to dry out,” he says, crossing his arms over his chest. “I—”
“You could take it off,” you tell him, and his blood spikes. He wants to.
He knows you.
Din looks at you, and you meet him eyes through the visor, whether you know it or not. “I’m a Mandalorian,” he answers, “I don’t—”
“I know what you are, Din Djarin,” you answer, and he wants to record the sound of your voice saying his name, play it on a loop over and over until he has it memorized. “But I’ll be dead this time tomorrow.” You wade out further into the water, until it laps against your chin. “The secret of your face dies with me.”
You turn away from him, disappearing beneath the surface and reappearing further out. The sun is nearly gone, the last dregs of the sunset fading from the sky, the stars and planets taking their rightful place. The water still has a certain glow about it, the sounds of frogs and other night creatures filling the silence of the clearing.
Before he can second-guess himself, he hooks his fingers in the edge of the helmet and takes it off.
“Don’t turn around,” he calls out, reaching up to release the clips holding his cloak to his shoulders. It slips to the ground and he leans down to set the helmet atop it. One by one, he sheds each piece of his armour. The chill in the air makes him shiver, goosebumps rising on his skin as he slides down the zipper on his flight suit. He’s acutely aware of his nakedness, his eyes glued to the back of your head, bobbing in the water.
You listen; you don’t turn around.
He can’t stop his sigh when he steps into the water. You weren’t lying — it’s warmer in the water than out, and he steps quickly, feeling the ground slope beneath his feet as the water rises to his knees, his waist, his chest. Then it evens out, and he realizes you’re standing on tiptoe in the middle of the lake, your arms floating at your sides, head tilted back as you stare up at the sky.
“I’ve seen so many things,” you murmur as he comes to a halt behind you, leaving a good few feet between your body and his. If he lets his eyes dip, he can make out your slightly blurred figure beneath the water’s surface, but he keeps his gaze on the crown of your head, your face upturned to the stars. “So many places and people in the furthest corners of the galaxy. Things I’ll never truly see, but I’ve seen them just the same.” You take a deep breath, raising your arms just enough that your hands break the surface of the water. “And yet, I’ve never seen anything as beautiful as the skies on Naboo. I remember swimming in a lake like this, as a child. Before they sent me away. I remember the stars looking just like this.” Your eyes flutter shut. “Thank you, for bringing me here. You’re a good man, Din Djarin. A better one than you allow the galaxy to believe.”
“How did you know my name?” he asks, the words spilling past his tongue before he can stop them. “How do you know my name?”
“I dreamt of you,” you say simply, as if it’s the most normal thing. You push your hands through your wet hair, and Din’s fingers long to copy you. “A long time ago, if we’re telling truths. Your face has come to me often —first when I was small, when we both were. I saw the destruction of your home world, though I didn’t know what I was seeing. I saw you pledge yourself to the Mandalorians, saw you earn your armour in the Covert. I dreamt of you long before I started running for my life. I always knew you’d be the one to find me, Din. The one to save me.”
It’s guilt, he realizes, that pools in his stomach, propels him forward until there’s barely any space between you. Until you’re close enough that he can hear your sharp inhale as he lifts his hand from the water, lets his dripping fingers trail up the curve of your shoulder, follow the curve of your neck to the space behind your ear, where he’d placed the bacta patch earlier. He’s so close he can feel the shiver that runs like a current through your body.
“Close your eyes,” he tells you, his voice a low rumble, “and keep them closed.”
You nod your head slightly, and he waits a beat before letting his fingers hook around your chin, using that leverage to turn you to face him. Your lips part gently, your breath warm on his skin. He drags the pad of his thumb across your lower lip, presses softly as you release another shaky exhale.
Din hasn’t kissed anyone in a long time. Longer than he cares to admit, and nervousness replaces his guilt as he tilts your face toward his. His hand rounds your head, cupping your skull in his palm, and your hair slides like wet silk through his knuckles.
The first kiss he gives you is soft. It’s tentative, your bottom lip captured between his, a quiet sound rising in your throat as he pulls away. Your lashes flutter slightly, but your eyes don’t open, and your hand reaches up, curling around the back off his neck and pulling him back down to you.
He grunts at the second kiss, your body inching closer to his beneath the water. His other hand finds purchase on your hip, digging his fingers into your flesh, and he swallows your groan, leaning deeper into your kiss, tightening his grip on your hair.
You give as much as you take, your free hand flattening against his ribs, your fingers fit in the spaces between his bones. The kiss is so familiar and so new, all at once. He’s done this a million times, and has never once done it before now.
I know you I know you I know you.
Pleasure shoots through him when your teeth scrape at his lip, your tongue darting out to soothe the ache you’ve left behind. It’s a welcome ache, and his hand drops from your hip to your thigh, hooking around the back of your knee and dragging your thigh over his waist. The sound you let out goes straight to his cock and he drops his lips from yours only to close his mouth around your pulse. You lean into him, both hands around his shoulders now, more soft noises of pleasure meeting his ears as he kisses a line up to the shell of your ear.
“When you dreamt of me,” he murmurs, your head leaning into the sound of his voice, “did you dream of all the ways I’d touch you?”
He accompanies his question with his fingers along the inside of your thigh, toward where he can feel you burning hot, your body warmer than the water that surrounds you both. Your lashes flutter again as you moan, digging your nails into his skin hard enough he’s sure you’ll leave little half-moon marks behind.
“This is better than anything I could ever dream up,” you whisper back, using your grip on him to pull your body flush to his. “I knew you’d find me, but I didn’t know you’d want me, that I’d want you.”
He pulls away, heart racing in his chest. Rejection flickers across your face, pinching your brow, but he grabs your hand beneath the water, squeezing. “Come with me.”
Din leads you out of the water, his grip tight on your hand. You still don’t open your eyes, your bottom lip caught between your teeth as he wraps you in the blanket and then leads you back toward the Crest. He brings you inside, back to his bed, and pushes at your shoulder until you’re sat at the edge.
“Don’t move.”
He head back out into the night, the sun now long gone, and collects his armour and your clothes. His body hums with need, leaving his armour on top of a crate, your clothes and his flight suit tossed into the fresher to deal with later. He closes the ramp, locks the door to the hold, and returns to where you’re still sat, the blanket tucked around you.
“Move back,” he tells you, and you obey instantly, letting the blanket fall away as you slide back on the mattress. Electricity shoots through him at the sight of you, the dim light above his bed a meagre replica of the sunset. He can’t stop himself from reaching out, dragging his hand up the centre of your body until he reaches your chest. He cups the weight of your breast in his palm, swipes his thumb over your nipple and revels in the way it peaks at his touch, the way you shiver as he does it again and again.
“Din,” you murmur, and his eyes nearly roll back in his head.
“Say it again.”
“Din.”
He leans over you, plants a hand on either side of your body as you lean back, your head resting on his pillow. Still, you don’t open your eyes.
He kisses you again, angles his head so his nose brushes along yours. You arch up into him as he settles some of his weight against you, making a home between your spread legs. He can feel how wet you are, the heat nearly radiating against his cock, and he can’t stop himself from rutting against you, burying his face in your neck and fitting his mouth to your pulse once more.
“I want to be inside you,” he murmurs, and your nod is nearly frantic.
“Please.”
Din lifts himself off you, leaning back to kneel between your legs. His palms ride the curve of your spread thighs, thumbs swiping at the crease of your hip. It makes your whole body twitch, and he swipes a finger along your cunt, the wetness coating his finger, and your back arches up off the mattress.
He sucks his finger clean. “Sweet,” he whispers, and you let out a soft whine, a whimper.
Hands dragging down your legs again, he curls his fingers around your calves and lifts your legs until your knees are hooked around his hips. He feels your ankles cross at the small of his back and leans forward slightly, taking his hard cock in hand, shuddering at his own touch.
“Open your eyes,” he tells you, hearing the hitch in your breath as he drags his tip through your wetness, “the moment I’m inside you. You understand?”
You don’t answer at first, writing against the blankets, but when he taps his cock lightly against your clit, you shudder. “I understand.”
Dragging down through your folds, he notches his cock at your entrance, pleasure making sparks shoot across his vision as he moves his hips ever so slightly. He reaches beneath you, both hands at your lower back, and lifts your hips off the mattress, holding you aloft as he drives into you.
+
Your eyes shoot open, and you see his face. His whole face.
And Gods above, he’s more handsome than you ever could have imagined.
Every moment since you stepped off the ship has been more than you could have dreamed, but seeing his face, studying those dark eyes as he pushes himself inside you, it’s everything.
His brows knit together as he forces himself deeper. Your body jolts with the movement and you bear down, tightening yourself around him. It makes him tip forward slightly, close enough that you can wrap your arms around his neck, threading your fingers through his dark hair.
The lips you remember, the patchy beard that scratches your skin when he turns his head and places a kiss against your wrist. His nose is different than you pictured, more hawkish with a scar cutting across the bridge. There are other scars too, littered across his chest and shoulders, a few even snaking down his front. You want to trace them all, memorize every ridge and dip.
He gives you a particularly hard thrust, and your vision goes white with pleasure. Your thighs quake with the intensity of it, feeling him drag against that sweet spot deep inside you. You tighten your grip on him, clenching your legs around his waist and keeping him where you want him.
“You feel…” he trails off, his lips parting as his hips roll into you over and over and over again. “I can’t…”
His groan spurs you on, lifting your hips off the mattress to meet his thrusts. The friction between your bodies grows more and more intense, his pelvis rubbing against your clit in a perfect rhythm. You can feel the pleasure growing, coiling at the base of your spine, and when he drops his head to your chest and wraps his lips around your nipple, you’re done for.
Your release rattles through you, seeming to draw Din’s from him. You shudder together, feeling the warmth of him spread through the deepest parts of you. He plants his head on your chest, hot breath fanned across your skin as you both move through it, limbs twitching and soft moans filling the air. He tries to pull himself from you too soon and you whine, refusing to loosen your hold on him.
Eventually, you let him go, instantly regretting your decision when the welcome weight of him moves off of you. He disappears for a time, but returns with a damp cloth from the fresher, and cleans between your legs before letting you move.
He doesn’t tell you to close your eyes again. You leave to use the fresher and when you return, he’s laid out on the cot, laying slightly to the side so there’s space for you. His eyes lock on yours as you slide into the bed, watching as he lifts the blankets for you and tucks you against his side.
Sleep seems to come easily for Din; you aren’t so lucky.
+
He wakes to an empty bed.
The hum of the night echoes through the hold, and Din scrambles out of bed when he realizes the door is open, that the cool night air is pouring in, and that you’re gone.
A million different possibilities flit through his mind; have you seen what happens? he wonders.
He pulls his underclothes on and finds his blaster, stepping slowly onto the Crest’s ramp. The clearing is the same as you left it, the only difference is the water is now as still as anything, the moon perfectly reflected in the surface.
You’ve left an obvious trail, and he tracks you easily through the forest. It’s a good distance from the ship, and when he finally finds you — and the altar before you — he hides in the brush, listening.
He doesn’t know what gods the carvings in the stone depict, and he wonders if you do, or if you’re just talking to anyone who might be listening.
“It’s not fair,” you say, your voice loud enough that he can hear the waver in it. You sink to your knees before the carvings, your hands dragging on the stone as you stare up at the sky. “I can’t see what comes next now. I don’t know what he’ll choose. I never asked for this!”
Din holds his breath, wondering if the sky might cloud over at your shouting, that thunder might rumble in response to your plea.
“Why lead me to him only to put my fate directly into his hands? Why allow him to bring me to life, only to snuff me out?”
The guilt returns, turning his blood black, making his mouth run dry.
“Is anybody even listening to me? Does anyone even care?”
I care, he nearly shouts in response, but the guilt ties his tongue in knots.
“I don’t want to die!”
Your hands curl into fists, slamming against the stone wall, flattening and your nails dragging along the carvings. Your shoulders shake with sobs, and half of him wants to run to you, the other half wants to disappear.
He returns to the Crest, the guilt crawling up into his chest and making a home there, a rival to the beast that demands he keep you close. They spar between his ribs, demanding to be heard.
Only he can decide which one he’ll listen to.
+
Din is right where you left him, when you return to the ship. Sprawled on his back, his arm outstretched where you’d laid your head. You close the ramp and the door, press the buttons you’d watch him press to lock the ship, and climb carefully back into the bed. Your tears are still wet on your cheeks as you fit yourself against his side. His arm curls around you, holding you closer, and fresh tears fall.
You wake up alone. Your body aches in a good way, your limbs groaning as you find your clothes. The ship hums, and it takes you a moment to realizes you’re moving. Not through hyperspace, just flying.
When you climb into the cockpit, he’s sat in his chair, all his armour back in place. He doesn’t acknowledge as you sink down into the same seat. You force your eyes to move away from his helmet, to the world outside the ship, and your heart feels as though it may shatter in your chest.
Savareen.
It’s good to know, in a way, that Din Djarin is a man of his word. You misjudged him, it’s true, but you can’t fault him. He’s doing his job. He hasn’t seen what you’ve seen.
Maybe not all your visions come true.
The spot where he lands the ship is not one you recognize. You’re far from the coven’s commune, that much you know for sure. As the engine’s hums die out, Din comes and stands before you, the same cuffs he’d used on you on Batuu in his hands.
You give your hands to him willingly. You won’t fight him, if this is your fate.
You don’t know what comes next; you haven’t seen it.
He’s silent as he leads you out of the ship and onto the planet’s surface. The air is that same cloying heat you remember, clinging to your skin and making it crawl.
As you descend the ramp, you see a familiar face — one of the coven’s elders, flanked by two of the same warriors who had come for you on Jabiim. The same man who had come to collect you from your family on Naboo, all those years ago. Who lied to your family and said you’d be in good hands. Who lied to you your entire life, forcing you to be at the mercy of your visions.
Bile rises in your throat as you draw closer, Din’s hand tight on your shoulder, your bound hands limp in front of you. “So good to see you again, my dear,” the elder starts, and everything in you screams at you to run away, but you never get the chance.
And you don’t need to.
As the elder reaches for you, Din draws his blaster and fires a single shot. The man drops to the cracked desert floor, a smoking scorch mark in the middle of his forehead. The warriors lunge forward, drawing their swords, but Din produces another blaster and moves in front of you, his stance protective, both barrels aimed at the warriors.
“Take another step, and you die,” he nearly growls, and your fingers curl around the fabric of his cloak. The warriors’ weapons clatter to the dirt. “Go back to your coven, and give your elders this warning: if they do not stop harming the seers, they will all share the same fate as him. She leaves with me, and if they send anyone after her, they share the same fate as him.”
With a nod, the warriors turn tail, sprinting off into the desert, leaving you alone with your Mandalorian. He turns to you, unlocks the cuffs from around your wrists. Your mind reels, trying to catch up with what’s happened, what it all implies.
“You…”
Din removes his helmet, holds it against his hip as he leans in, two fingers beneath your chin as he leans in to kiss you. You sink into it, elation seeping through your body, cupping his scruffy jaw in your hands, your thumbs fitting into the patches in his beard.
The kiss feels like a promise, like an oath.
“I’ll take you back to Naboo,” he tells you when you break apart only to breathe. “You can go back to your family, back to—”
“What if I want to stay with you?”
The corner of his lips twitch, and you lean in to kiss it. “Then you’ll stay with me.”
+
The moment you step foot back on the Crest, you freeze. Your gaze goes out of focus, your body a lead weight against his. Fear floods Din’s body and he grabs you, worrying you’re going to pass out again, that he didn’t do enough with the bacta, that you’re—
You come back to yourself quickly, blinking hard and gulping down air. “Nevarro,” you tell him, your voice tight. “We need to go to Nevarro, to the Guild.”
“I can’t do that,” he tells you. “I just broke my contract by not delivering you to them. They won’t—”
“Shh,” you hush him, two fingers pressed against his lips. “Listen to me, Din. We need to go to Nevarro. Karga will believe you when you tell him what happened, and he has a new bounty for you. An important one.”
His brows lift. “You had a vision? You saw Karga?”
The corner of your mouth twitches. “I saw much more than Karga,” you reply, your breath slowing. “I saw your son.”

Guide to Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge Opening August 29th 2019
At long last we have an opening date for Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. And it's sooner than we expected. The new super immersive land will open at Hollywood Studios, Disney World Orlando on August 29th 2019. Disneyland in California has an earlier opening date of May 31st 2019.
This is going to be a totally unique and immersive experience like no other. Think Wizarding World of Harry Potter on out of this world, galactic style steroids. It's the largest and most technologically advanced single-themed land expansion ever in a Disney park.
Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge at Walt Disney World in Orlando will be opening in two phases:
Phase One: On August 29th, you'll be able to visit the remote planet of Batuu. You'll get a senses overload of unique sights, sounds, smells and tastes. And you'll become part of the story as you sample galactic food, sip exotic beverages and explore unique merchant shops.
You'll also be able to take the controls of the most famous ship in the galaxy aboard Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run.
Phase Two: Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, the most ambitious, immersive and advanced attraction ever imagined, is set to open later this year. No set date as yet. This fully immersive ride will put you right in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance.

Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge Access:
Visitors to Disneyland between May 31 and June 23, 2019, will be required to make a no-cost reservation, subject to availability, to access the new Star Wars land. At this time, no reservation is offered or required for Disney World in Orlando. Although a similar system could be launched to control crowds.
Disney Parks Blog has a paragraph that tells us: Capacity for the parks, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and its experiences is limited. Access to the park, land and experiences may be restricted or unavailable depending on guest demand and other factors.
Welcome to the Edge of Wild Space: Black Spire Outpost on Batuu
Batuu is a far-flung destination along the galaxy’s Outer Rim, located between Unknown Regions and the Frontier of Wild Space.
This remote outpost on the galaxy’s edge was once a busy crossroads along the old sub-lightspeed trade routes. Its prominence was bypassed by the rise of hyperspace travel.
Today, Batuu is home to Black Spire Outpost, an infamous port for smugglers, traders and adventurers traveling between the frontier and uncharted space. It’s a convenient safe haven for those intent on avoiding the ever expanding reach of the First Order.
The modern village was built on the remains of crumbling structures by a long-extinct civilization. The landscape is dominated by the petrified remains of towering ancient black spire trees.
As you stroll through this thriving port, you might encounter some familiar faces, from Rey, Finn and Poe to BB-8 and Chewie.

Two Attractions Bring Star Wars Adventures to Life
For the last four decades, Star Wars fans could only imagine what it would be like to blast across the stars inside the Millennium Falcon. Or race through the halls of a Star Destroyer.
Once Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is fully open, two signature attractions will surely delight fans.
Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, will open on August 29th. You'll be right in the cockpit of “the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy.” Take the controls of the Falcon in one of three unique and critical roles as the ship hurtles through space.
You could be a pilot, a gunner or flight engineer. There will be multiple ways to experience this attraction.
Height restriction for Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run is 38 inches.
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will open later in 2019 and will place you right in the middle of the Rebellion. You'll play an active role in the fight against the First Order.
Fancy a faceoff with Kylo Ren? Your journey will take you right inside a full-size starship and aboard a nearby Star Destroyer.

Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge FastPasses:
At this time, no attractions in the new Star Wars land are included in the Disney FastPass+ system. However, Disney have announced they will "continually evaluate our operations and services in order to help provide a great Guest experience”.
Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge Will Feature Out of This World Food & Beverages

Oga’s Cantina At last, you'll be able to drink at one of the galaxy’s most infamous watering holes. The blaster-bolt scorches on the walls tell a story. Bounty hunters, smugglers, rogue traders and weary travelers all gather to share tales from around the galaxy.

He is proud of his Tuggs’ Grub, labelled "a traveling diner for diners traveling". His dishes are inspired from his time working for Maz Kanata on Takodana.
Ronto Roasters Located in the Black Spire Outpost market. You'll notice the large podracing engine firing up a barbecue pit for mouth-watering Ronto Wraps.

Iconic Musical Score for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge
Music has been an integral part of Star Wars from the moment the iconic themes of Academy Award-winning® composer John Williams first introduced us to this galaxy. The music for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge continues that tradition with a suite of all-new Williams-composed themes written especially for the land and its attractions.

Oga’s Cantina
Oga is the boss of the underworld found at Black Spire Outpost. It should also come as no surprise that Oga also runs Oga’s Cantina. Despite running the cantina, she rarely is found at the cantina. Instead, she prefers to receive payments remotely and most of the inhabitants of Black Spire Outpost have never even seen her. Despite not being seen, her drinks are something to be seen and experienced. People from around the galaxy stop by Oga’s Cantina to experience the famous drinks that are offered there. These drinks use unique ingredients and “otherworldly” methods. On top of the unique drinks, Oga is regularly bringing in beers, cider, and wines. While at the cantina, guests enjoy the entertainment offered by DJ R-3X (also known as REX). While many guests will recognize him from the original Star Tours adventure as the pilot aboard the Starspeeder 3000, he has now reinvented himself to be a DJ. He continues to be as quirky and talkative as ever as he tries to just do his job.

Birthday on Batuu
Tumblr media
Words: 1281 Pairing: Han Solo x Reader Warnings: None Summary: Reader is traveling with Han and Chewbacca who’ve had to travel to Batuu on business. Normally Reader doesn’t mind going wherever the Falcon takes them. Except this particular day happens to be Reader’s birthday and they are not looking forward to spending it being ordered around by a certain Captain.
Tumblr media
It was a warm sunny day on Batuu. As usual, the rocky paths that wound their way through the Black Spire Outpost were packed with off-worlders. Some were stocking up for their next and much longer galactic journey to another spaceport. Mostly, the Outpost was host to smugglers, traders and any other such people who might want to avoid hyperspace travel and the Imperial check points. Han had told you and Chewbacca that you were just there for some simple refueling yourselves, but neither you nor the Wookie believed him.
“Now don’t you two go wandering off!” The Captain of the Millenium Falcon warned while your trio shuffled along the crowded streets.
“Where would we go?” You complained. “I can hardly move an inch right now.”
“I know you.” Han quipped. “You’ll find a way.”
“If we’re just here for refueling why are we heading away from the port?” You questioned.
“I have one or two small things to take care of while we’re here.” He said, keeping his eyes facing front.
You looked up at Chewbacca who towered over the majority of the crowd. You could tell by his expression he hadn’t been listening to you and Han. Instead, he’d been watching the other ne’er-do-wells of Batuu. So you continued following Han, wondering how long it would be before he explained what his plan was. As the path you were on opened to a wider town center, the crowd around you began to disperse. There was finally space between you and the next person. You could stretch your arms, swing them about if you wanted to.
“Meet me at Olga’s in thirty minutes.” Han ordered.
“What happened to no wandering off?” You hissed.
“That was just for you.” He explained as if it were obvious. “Chewy look after [Y/N] for me, will ya? Don’t give me that look. I’ll be right back.” There was a growl of disapproval from Chewbacca but Han stalked off anyway.
“This is the worst birthday ever!” You shouted after him.
“Can you believe him?” You asked Chewbacca, who said nothing. “Feel like doing some shopping?” The Wookie shrugged, indicating he didn’t have a preference either way. “Well, it’s better than waiting at the Cantina for another thirty minutes so c’mon.”
You supposed you should be used to this sort of behavior from your Captain by now. Although affectionate in his own little ways, Han Solo had a tendency to be, for lack of a better word, selfish. He had a one-track mindset and would get laser focused on one task to the point where it became all consuming. You guessed his plans on Batuu were just one of those things. He wouldn’t be able to think clearly until he finished the task he’d set for himself.
With Chewbacca following closely, you perused the various stalls and stands that lined the town center. There were baubles and trinkets from all across the galaxy. Even from a distance you could identify stoneware, textiles, and even what you were certain were black market weapons. One cart featured an elderly man peddling what looked like blue and green milk.
What really caught your eyes though, was a shimmering green gemstone not too far away. The stone sparked under Batuu’s sun. It was a deep green that reminded you of the waters on your home world. It wasn’t particularly large and it was set in a plain white metal as a pendant, but you absolutely loved it.
“Isn’t it beautiful Chewy?” You whispered to the Wookie beside you. Chewbacca was once again indifferent. You rolled your eyes at the Wookie before asking the vendor for a price. Your heart sank as you realized it was far more credits than you had in your possession. You thanked the vendor and continued browsing even though you knew you’d never find anything as magnificent.
It wasn’t long before your time was up. You left the market empty handed. Chewbacca guided you towards Olga’s Cantina. At least there were some benefits to traveling with a Wookie. Not only did they have premium vantage points, but they could also part a crowd quickly and were excellent navigators. Though that last point may have just been Chewbacca, you weren’t exactly sure.
At the entrance to the cantina, Chewy signaled for you to wait outside. He wanted to go in and assess the situation first. You wanted to argue, having been to Olga’s several times without incident bur you stopped yourself because you’d also been to plenty of places with Han that had quickly turned into an incident of the Captain’s creation. You agreed to wait outside as Chewbacca slipped in.
After a few minutes you’d just about had enough waiting. It shouldn’t take that long to scope out a small circular bar. You moved your trigger hand to hover over your blaster. You pushed open the door of the cantina and crashed right into Han.
“You’re supposed to be waiting outside.” He snapped.
“Well, I got tired of waiting.” You snapped back.
“Can’t you just once do what your told?” Han sighed. “C’mon, I was coming to get you anyway. Our table is over here.” Han placed a hand on your elbow and gently dragged you over to an alcove where you knew one of the larger tables was. You were completely surprised to see so many familiar faces at the table when you arrived.
Luke Skywalker was there in his best set of jedi robes. He was nursing a glass of blue milk. His sister Leia sat next to him. She seemed to be discussing something in a hushed tone with Chewbacca. Lando Calrissian smiled the widest and the brightest when he saw you approaching. You didn’t really know why, both other than Chewy, Lando had always been your favorite of Han’s friends.
“What are you all doing here?” You asked.
“Celebrating your birthday of course!” Leia smiled.
“Han told us that on your home planet birthdays are a big deal.” Luke explained.
“So we all agreed to get together on neutral ground.” Lando added.
“Wow, I…Thank you.” Was all you could say. “You did all this for…” But as you looked to thank Han, you realized he’d disappeared again.
“He’ll be back.” Leia insisted. “For now, sit with us and let’s catch up. What have the three of you been up to?” She looked between you and Chewbacca as you sat down.
“Hey [Y/N]/” You felt a tap on your shoulder and turned to see that Han had returned.
“Hey, where have been?” You questioned. Han straddled the seat next to you.
“More errands.” He explained. “Say people give gifts for birthdays on your planet right?”
“Yeah most of the time.” You nodded. “Bringing everyone here was such a great gift.”
“That’s not you gift.” Han sounded slightly offended. He reached into the pocket his vest and removed a small pouch. “This is.” Han dropped the pouch into your hand. “Go on, open it.” He said impatiently.
“Okay, I am!” You laughed at his urgency. You untied the drawstrings on the bag and peaked inside. It was some type of jewelry. You reached inside the bag and removed a necklace. Not just any necklace, the same one you saw in the market earlier.  “Oh Han…”
“It’s okay right?” Han asked nervously. “I mean I don’t know much about this kind of stuff and I know it’s not much…”
“I love it, Han!” You promised. “And I love you!”
“Love me, huh?” Han leaned back in his seat. He was teasing you now, but the relief on his face was obvious. “I can’t wait to see what you come up with for my birthday then.”

Request: “Shes 1000 percent opposite from him. She’s from the light side and He set an arranged marriage for them Because he fell in love with her. She gives birth to their baby boy and he is amazed!”
- @80s90steen
Pairing: Kylo Ren x Wife!Reader
WARNING: NONE. HAPPY KYLO.
Word count: 1.2k
A/N: WOW- it has been three years since I sat down to properly write. this was something brand new I whipped up for you. I'm so used to digging through my crusty dusty drive and just posting old content I deleted or was just too coward to post the first time around. I had so much fun writing this and it just flowed out of me! I was inspired by all the new star wars and wanted to pay tribute to galaxy’s edge. also, I named the reader's sister just so it was easier.
                                                          _____
She was a senator’s daughter and sister to their newly-elected queen. If you asked her she was a nobody but to the people of Naboo she was their unofficial humanitarian. Always promoting good health and giving away all that she had. Where help was needed she was always there to aid. No matter the cost or the work- she was there. She helped build schools and reclaimed water systems.
She would visit other planets and spend her good fortune there. She was blessed with wealth and never had to worry about her next meal. Because of this, she gave back to the galaxy.
On the far part of the outer rim was a planet named Batuu. It was once a thriving place of beauty but turned forgotten and ran down. Many life forms still inhabited the planet and many of them were in debt. Any credits earned at the black spire outpost was cut into more than half and placed into the pockets of Oga Garra. she was intimidating, cruel, and greedy. (y/n) was there to negotiate and help liberate the debt of the poor Batuuans.
The first order had been there for a few weeks and their supreme leader had an eye on her. Her generosity had not gone unnoticed.
Kylo stood in the market watching her closely. She had a basket of Batuu buns on her hip. Her dress was a pale blue, feet bare, and her hair was free and flowing in the summer breeze of Batuu.
“Bright suns, would you care for a bun, sir?” she smiled offering him a freshly baked good.
He looked down. (y/n) was small in proportion to him. “Where are your shoes?”
“Oh! An off-planet travel needed them more to me.” laughing humbly she placed the bun back into her basket. “She apparently lost them in a sabacc match back at Oga’s cantina.”
“How kind of you-” he scoffed “-Now care to tell me what it is you are doing?”
(y/n)’s smile grew wider and she rolled her eyes playfully. “You’ve had me arrested and interrogated several times throughout my stay. You have a copy of my identification as well as a sample of my blood for your records. Every time you do this I come back clean and with no ties to the resistance.”
“Every do-gooder is associated with them somehow and the moment I found out how it is you fit in I will have you arrested once more- and this time for good,” he warned.
“I’m starting to think you’re using this whole resistance thing as an excuse to talk to me.”
If not for his helmet, Kylos flushed cheeks would have been on display.
But she was right. Any chance he had to follow her, he would. Any chance he had to speak with her, he would. When it had come time for her to unsuccessfully part with Batuu he followed her back to Naboo. Though he swore it was for business, he only ever spent time with her. They would spend most of their time together wandering the endless rose gardens and chasing one another around the royal library. When it was dark enough out the couple would count stars. She taught him how to dance elegantly and which fork to start out with at an important dinner.
While he was harsh and rough around the edges, he couldn’t help but fall for her. She was everything. Everything about her had him amazed. She was fair, kind, funny and most importantly loveable. Maker, how he loved her. He wanted nothing more than to spend the rest of his days with her.
When he finally got the courage to ask for her hand in marriage he played it off as an advantage for Naboo and made it seemed arranged, but she knew deep in her heart it was all for love. Their wedding was grand and traditional. Though not a single soul approved of the courtship and not many chose to attend their wedding she was not ashamed of the man she loved. (y/n) wanted all of Naboo and all of the Galaxy to know that she loved Kylo Ren, Master of the Knights of Ren, and Supreme Leader of the first order.
“I’m sorry for not being at your wedding, little sister… but I have an image to uphold” Queen Giada sighed.
(y/n) packed her final bag and handed it to her lady in waiting. “I am too. I love who I love and will not apologize to anyone for it.”
“I know- I wasn’t asking you to.” her sister swallowed the melancholy lump in her throat. “You’re more than welcome to come back for harvest and for life day. He just can’t come with you.”
(y/n) stared out the window silently praying for the strength to stay composed. Not soon after her wedding to Kylo was she asked to leave Naboo. In exchange for her not being banished, she was granted emancipation and changed her surname to Ren. no longer was she part of the royal house of Naboo. Her trial was heavy and not a single eye was dry. Her father and mother stayed silent and her sister publicly disowned her but in privet, she didn’t let her go.
“The holidays are meant to be spent with your family, and Kylo is my Family. If he is not welcomed, then I am not welcomed.”
Giada dropped to the now vacant bed. “Is this how it has to be?”
“You are Queen first and my sister second.”
Though (y/n) never let it show Kylo knew it was hard for his new bride. She was so confident and proud of her decision that she never let a tear slip in front of him, but he knew.
Four years into their marriage, several false negatives, and two miscarriages later- (y/n) was finally pregnant. They were going to have a family of their own. Kylo was nervous and scared but had to remember it was him who asked for a baby.
“Did he just move!?” He gasped pulling his hand away from her stomach.
“Yes. wanna feel again?”
“No- wait- yes- no-” He hesitated repeatedly moving his hand closer and then away. “Yes. Wait, wait, wait- ok yes!”
(y/n) laughed placing both of his hands on her bump. “That’s crazy, huh? How he just moves like that?”
“It feels weird!”
“Imagine that but inside of you.”
She was glowing in every trimester. Pregnancy looked good on her. When it was finally time for her to deliver Kylo reached out to Naboo and asked for a place of haven where their son could be born and claim native to the planet. When he received a response he was angry. “She and her son may step foot on our planet’s soil but you may not.”
Infuriated and hopefully (y/n) settled her heart on Chandrial. Homeworld of Kylo Ren. the two went in secret, careful not to alert any locals of their arrival. It was a long labor but in the end a rewarding one. He was in all. Amazed by his wife. She had brought life into the world. his son, Kingston Ren.

Fandom Christmas in July - July 6
The only reason there is a drabble today is because I spent time doing research so now everybody has to suffer.  Also it’s a horrible, stupid drabble and I wasn’t kidding about the suffering.
6. Prompt - Reindeer Fandom – Star Wars Ship – Gen, all character friendships
Y’all!  Santa exists in Star Wars canon!  Sort of. Several characters in the Legends Universe have worn a Santa outfit; and, more importantly, he appears in the Star Wars: X-Wing game (1993) on the Mon Calamari cruiser Independence (when the clock is set to December 25th).  Which means Santa (or someone dressed like him) might have been a member of the Rebel Alliance.
The dugar dugar – created for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge – are deerlike creatures native to the Outer Rim planet Batuu.  They are often heard around Black Spire Outpost, but are never seen. Yes, I googled ‘what is the Star Wars equivalent to a deer, leave me alone.
The Toydarian Toymaker – created for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge – is a little toy shop in the Black Spire Outpost Market.  The toy maker herself is a Toydarian  named Zabaka.  Another well know Toydarian is Watto from the prequel trilogy, in case you want to know what the species looks like.
Am I a dork for spending an hour researching this for a two hundred word drabble?  Probably. Did that stop me?  Obviously not.  Will I try to justify it by telling myself I can use some of this later? Who knows.
Title – Rudolph the Red-Nosed Dugar Dugar
Rey, Poe, and Finn spent two days wandering around Black Spire Outpost while they waited for their informant to make contact.  They each discovered their own favourite shop or food stall. Rey, in particular, was fascinated by the Toydarian Toymaker.
“I’ve heard the owner sits in her workshop and handmakes all the toys,” Poe told her.  “Then once a year, she gives some away to all the kids in the Outpost.”
“Really?” Finn asked.  He looked at the frosted workshop window where the silhouette of the Toydarian could be seen buzzing about with tools in hand.  “Who told you that?”
Poe nodded toward a pack of children playing with well-loved dolls and wooden blocks in a nearby alley.  “Even better, the little blonde one said that the outpost makes it a big deal, devotes a whole day of celebration to it.  Zabaka loads up a sled full of toys from her warehouse on the edge of town, then has a pair of dugar dugars pull it into the centre of the market.”
Rey stared at him for a moment, then grinned.  “You’re teasing me.”
He placed his hand over his heart.  “Not at all. Apparently, they call her Zabaka Claus.”

Galactic Economics
Here is my Macroeconomics paper on the economics of Galaxy’s Edge...
ENJOY lol:
Galactic Economics
A long time ago, in a galaxy far away Vi Moradi was wishing she were anywhere but stranded on Batuu.  While searching for the secrets of the fearsome Captain Phasma Vi was captured and tortured by First Order Captain Cardinal.  Having planted the seeds of doubt about the First Order in the mind of Cardinal she convinces him to allow her to escape.  When he leaves to confront Phasma she begins her escape. On her way off the Star Destroyer, she finds Cardinal, beaten and left for dead.  It only takes a moment for her kind heart to take control and she decides to save him as well.
As Galaxy's Edge: Black Spire, a Star Wars novel by Delilah S. Dawson, opens Vi has healed enough from her last adventure to be entrusted with new orders.  The Rebellion needs a place to lick their wounds, recover, and plan. Who better for the job of finding such a place than the two members of the rebellion who need to heal mentally and physically more urgently than anyone else?  Vi finds herself paired with the man formally known as Cardinal for the mission.
At the beginning of the semester my husband bought me this book as a present for starting college.  When someone says Star Wars you rarely think of the economy in the galaxy.  I happened be reading this book alongside my textbooks for Intro to Business and Macro Economics. Being that the entire book is the backstory and an advertisement for Black Spire Outpost at both major US Disney Parks I was not surprised to see some of what I was learning this semester in the novel.  What did take me by surprise is how the book allowed me to understand what I was learning in such a fun fictional world.
On the outer rim of known space in the Star Wars universe sits a planet known as Batuu.  While it does receive some traffic through its small port regular supply shipments are few and far between.  The scarcity on the planet becomes the central focus of the narrative.  Thanks to the small size of the planet and population they residences of Batuu must find alternate ways of using the resources available, even if it is an unregistered ship that no one would miss.  As Vi is attempting to reach the port her ship is shot down by what appears to be opportunistic pirates.  While unconscious everything not nailed down is stolen.  They steal large ticket items like the legs of her droid and their communication computers as well as stealing basic items like her MREs (Meals, Ready to Eat), basic medicines, and the wigs Vi uses when she is working as a spy.  At the beginning I thought this was done merely to create struggle for Vi but as I read on, I saw that Mrs. Dawson had a stronger understanding of economics than I had originally thought.  Throughout her book we see several examples of scarcity and how it can affect a community on the outskirts of civilization.
When Vi finds her stolen communication equipment it is not only the only of its kind available its price reflects that. What seems to be missing from the reality of scarcity is the equal treatment of the products and the inflationary effects on them.  We see the items that are high end and not actually for sale in the amusement parks reflect the truth of prices inflated due to scarcity.  On the items for sale at the amusement parks, like alcohol and toys, do not reflect their proper rarity in their prices.
Due to the injuries given to him by Phasma Cardinal, now called Archex, is in serious need of pain medication.  This far from the major trade routes even basic medication is exceedingly rare and the only options daily are local herbal remedies that do not seem to work.  As the book progresses Vi comes to terms with her first encounter with Archex and comes to care for him as a close friend.  During an attack on a First Order scouting ship Vi finds herself in their medical room and faces a dilemma.  Are the pain meds worth risking the entire mission?  She decides the price paid is worth it and steals the medicine for Archex because the product it so scarce that the only one she had even seen available for sale in the outpost was hers.  While she does escape with the medication it costs her the mission.
On the planet of Batuu the government is a simple one, one cranky crime boss.  Oga not only owns the local cantina but she owns the outpost as well.  Batuu is a dictatorship and the laws and fiscal policy move at her whim.  While she does not call them taxes each business is expected to pay her their fair share.  This concept is expressed to Vi as the ways of the community are being explained to her by her new friend and local, Salju.  If Oga likes you and you treat her with the proper respect your business will prosper, if you displease her, she will tax you out of business.  If you do not own a business Oga still expects you to pay your taxes.  Luckily, she will accept labor in trade for money.  Though it is only mentioned in passing Oga and her people keep the peace and take care of those who need it when needed.  I found this small sampling a decent representation of the fiscal policy and taxation.  Even the US government has been guilty of using the same tactics with taxation.  A sin tax is simply a tax our government puts on something they wish to tax to death until it flies away and leaves.
On a small scale I was able to see the use of leakages and injections in the story as well.  Vi gets work at Savi’s workshop.  Savi is a kind old scavenger willing to hire those less fortunate than himself.  His crews comb the planet for natural resources, artifacts, and ship crash sites. After they have sorted through everything, they fix what they can to sell at a higher price and sells the left-over scrap.  Oga takes her portion of everything his workshop makes, a leakage for the local economy.  Savi buys lunch for his crews each day from a local food vender and pays his employees a daily wage from what is left.  When they get off work they often go to the local cantina or a favored restaurant to spend their wages.  On a few occasions Vi ventures into the various markets to shop and spend the local currency she has earned.  Savi represents a business firm doing his best to not only take good care of his employees but to also be a major source of injections into the local economy.  It is not a perfect comparison as imports can offer a great deal of value to the trade being done on the planet because other than farming there is extraordinarily little industry that we are shown in the story. We meet clothes makers during one of Vi’s shopping trips.  It is mentioned offhandedly that most clothes on the planet are made and sold on the planet and the only item of Vi’s stolen clothes that are seen later in the book are her wigs which are not made on Batuu.
The economics of the world of Star Wars have been mostly glossed over in any great detail throughout the many cannon stories given to us by Disney.  Galaxy's Edge: Black Spire managed to give us a glimpse in a comfortable and enjoyable way.  While not perfect it gives a reasonable view into the economics that are the undercurrent of any world, fictional or real.  It is also a reminder that no matter how small or what style of government there will always be a common undercurrent to the financial world around us.

together [ bariss offee ]
summary: the reader convinces bariss to leave before she bombs the jedi temple, seeing that the two of them are more alike than he thought.
warnings: male!reader, fluff!
requested by: anon :)
———
the jedi weren’t at all what they had seemed. they had been fighting in this war for peace for years, yet they did little of the peacekeeping. at least, that’s what bariss offee thought about the jedi, and it pained her to see a friend of hers ensnared in their lies. her master was rigid, one who followed the rules and didn’t appear to care about anything else. there were other jedi, like obi-wan kenobi, who she thinks actually care about their current situation. nevertheless, bariss came up with this elaborate plan to set things into motion, a plan that if it doesn’t go as planned, then she will be jailed.
bariss wasn't the only one to feel betrayed by the jedi, there were others, though few in number. y/n was one of them, but he didn’t have such an elaborate plan as bariss did. he wanted to leave peacefully, retire out somewhere actually peaceful. he was friends with bariss, though there were some underlying feelings, but he kept them to himself. he shoved them deep down into the compartments of his chest so no one -- not even him -- could access them.
the two young jedi were alone, walking the courtyard of the jedi temple. a cool breeze blew through the blossoming trees lining the pathway, soothing the angry sores on bariss and y/n.
“I don't want to stay here,” y/n spoke up, his voice being carried over to her by the soothing breeze.
“neither do I, and setting up ahsoka isn’t really what I want to do.” bariss confessed. she knew that if anakin had heard her say anything about endangering ahsoka, he’d be onto her. bariss had seen a good friend in ahsoka; she didn’t want to hurt her.
“we should leave together, go somewhere so hidden, that no one would find us.” he suggested, pausing in his stride.
“my vengeance is too strong, I'm afraid I cannot.” bariss admitted, lowering her head. the fire that burned inside of her would not be quenched until the temple and the jedi got what they deserved.
“bombing the jedi temple isn’t going to solve anything; it’ll make matters worse for you.” he whispered, making sure no jedi were looming around, trying to eavesdrop on their conversation. there was a silence between them, contemplation floating around in the big, blue eyes of bariss.
“I suppose you’re right,” she sighed, sending the male a small smile. she would not and could not deny that he was handsome, but not only that, he had a big heart. “where do you plan on going?” she added quietly.
“black spire outpost on batuu. it’s remote, and people won’t know who we are or where we come from.” he told her with a boyish grin curling onto his lips.
“great, tonight then? at dark?” she asked with a hopeful grin.
“yes,” he answered her.
------
bariss was nervous; she had never strayed this far from the code. well, she had to consider she was going to bomb the jedi temple and frame one of her best friends. she wore a black cloak, the hood flipped up to shield her identity from onlookers. she met y/n on the platform, a smallish ship awaiting them. it was enough to get them to the black spire outpost.
“you ready?” he asked her softly. she nodded, following him onto the ship.
------
the trip wasn’t a terribly long one. coming out of hyperspace and seeing batuu in front of her, bariss smiled. it was an outer rim planet, which made hiding so much easier.
y/n took it nice and easy into the atmosphere, the landing being smoother than she expected. she felt the butterflies erupt into her stomach at random, but she found her reason why as she looked over at y/n. he was smiling, his hands working over the controls. she admired his delight, how he was so willing to drop everything he had worked for to leave with her, but from what it sounded like, the both of them were dealing with similar things.
y/n stood up to exit the ship, but bariss grabbed his arm before he could do so. he was caught off guard, the nerves bubbling up in his stomach. bariss wanted to say what she felt, how she liked him. there was an awkward silence, but eventually the girl spoke up.
“thank you, y/n, for leaving with me. I don’t know what would have become of me if you had not convinced me to leave.” she decided. y/n was hoping for something else, he had to admit, but maybe she didn’t like him as he liked her.
“of course, that’s what friends are for right?” he smiled. bariss released his arm and watched as he walked off the ship. ‘friends’, so that’s all he thought of them as. she stood up and followed after him, a sigh escaping her lips.
------
they eventually found a place to stay, though it was small. while setting up what stuff they had, bariss gave the place a look around. the outpost itself was small, consisting of a market, cantina and a spaceport. there was little to no living space, but luckily someone offered them a place to stay.
bariss found herself looking over at y/n as he made his way over to her. she had never experienced these kind of feelings, where her stomach would erupt into butterflies, she'd break into a sweat, and even stutter. attachments were forbidden in the jedi order, but they were no longer in the jedi order.
“you seem to be lost in thought,” he commented as he took took a seat next to her. bariss sighed and nodded her head, scooting over to make room for him.
“I guess you could say that,” she lowered her eyes and watched her hands. she rarely ever got nervous, so this was a new experience for her.
“what’s on your mind?” he tried not to be nervous himself; he didn’t want the situation to turn awkward or anything, although it was already beginning to get that way. there was another pause, causing y/n’s grin to fade and his face to relax.
“I didn’t... speak my mind earlier when I grabbed your arm on the ship,” she confessed, her voice quiet and so much so y/n barely caught it. he didn't speak, letting her have the floor.
“yes, I am thankful, but that wasn’t what I wanted to say. I wanted to say ...” she was nervous, should she? what was stopping her? certainly wasn't the jedi order. “I wanted to say that I have these . . . feelings for you, and I am not sure how to deal with them.” she whispered, keeping her eyes trained on her hands. she wrung her hands, the sweat beginning to compile into her palms. y/n reached under her chin and gently lifted it towards him. there were no words spoken between the two of them for a while. bariss’ blue eyes stared into y/n’s, a sparkle about them.
“well, I've got feelings for you too.” he hummed. he was overjoyed that she liked him back; he never would have thought that she would like him. her master was so rigid back in the order, therefore implementing the idea that she could never like him.
“really?” she widened her eyes, lifting her face to fully take in his expression. he nodded, causing her to blush and lean into him.
“yeah,” he smiled, wrapping his arm around her and pulling her closer to him.
------
this took me FOREVER and I apologize anon! it’s finally up and I'm hoping I can get another one up this week. requests are still open so feel free to send them in! thank you guys so much!

[ a starter for @spirekept because I swore it would be an ask but it was just a little too lengthy ]
It hadn't been all that difficult. After all, she had never kept terribly much of her own. She never had much use for THINGS. Some favorite clothes. Her tool kit. A few other sentimental items. That was all it took for her pack up. It took even less to leave. As much as she loves her parents and her younger brother, she refuses to call Galma her home and she refuses to get caught up in everything that it is and to avoid it was becoming more and more difficult by the day.
She had spoken with her parents, and Father had been reluctant. Mother had hedged. We should discuss this more soon, and we should first speak with your brother.
But she knows what that means. It means that they would prefer to keep her close and soon might never come. It was just a matter of finding a reason as to why.
So, leaving a recorded holo-message on her bed, off she went without so much as a backwards glance and how freeing that was! To know that Galma was behind her and Black Spire ahead!
By the time she reaches the Outpost, she’s all smiles and pent up energy. It’s so amazing! It’s so much nicer and cleaner than Galma and her smiles are met with other smiles rather than scowls and there are old women weaving baskets and vendors selling all sorts of things and no one had even tried to steal her duffle bag or pick her pocket (yet) and––! She instantly loves it!
She greets everyone who so much as looks her direction, practically bouncing on her feet anytime she stops to look at something in one of the many stalls.
At length, however, the market given at least a cursory exploration and a few pleasant exchanges of conversation––as well as a snack obtained from a fruit vendor––she turns her step toward her destination.
Ohnaka Transport Solutions!
By the time she gets there, she’s absolutely beaming and beyond excited. She’s going to get to see Malta here at Black Spire! She asks someone standing outside admiring some disaster of a YT-model––though she doesn’t say anything to them about that because it might be theirs!––if he knows her brother and if he’s working today, and the old Weequay grins and laughs and tells her that he’ll send him her way.
With that assurance, she turns her gaze back to the ship, trying to decide what had been so interesting about it.

princess-stabbity replied to your post “I keep thinking about how Mando’s helm and the Amban are displayed on...”
would love a full accounting of your many dok-ondar grievances
Hokay, so. Dok-Ondar is an “antiquities dealer” in about the same sense that Pablo Escobar was a “pharmaceuticals rep.”
Like, if he in the ST era was merely selling lightsabers pried directly out of the paws of Order 66 casualties and art looted from the Jedi Temple, I’d be sad, but since by 35 ABY there hasn’t been a Jedi Order in 50 years, I could grant a justification of *meme voice* It’s Free Salvage.
That’s...not it though. He’s like the sordid, tacky-ass turds who claimed salvage rights on the Titanic and are making bank on a splashy tragedy, except instead of one shipwreck that happened because of hubris and professional incompetence, we’re talking about at least two separate galaxy-spanning campaigns of genocide and other looting of important cultural/artistic/religious patrimony besides. Stuff that, in cases where preserving the original site isnt possible, could be either repatriated or contribute to scientific and scholarly understanding, not shut behind closed doors for the sake of some space high roller’s superiority boner. *wails in angry anthropology nerd*
He’s mentioned by name as a VIP on the First Light, Professional Fuckboy Dryden Vos’s yacht in Solo. I think we can make some pretty reasonable inferences about the source of Vos’s private “museum” of black market (largely Sith, with a foray into other Force-adept traditions, Mandalorian, and other) artifacts. Which, it turns out that Vos was the faceman for Maul the whole time, so...enjoy your Rakata wraith boxes, you Rorschach-face pachycephalosaur-looking trashhammer, I hope you got your dick stuck in one.
Dude personally broke into the Temple of the Kyber on Jedha, used Ki-Adi-Mundi’s lightsaber to mutilate and steal ancient statues carved by the mendicants there, and only didn’t do more damage because Chirrut Imwe was about to be like “I am one with the asskicking and the asskicking is with me.”
Not only does dude deal in dirty cargo, he goes out of his way to pit his contractors against each other, not give them the information they need to be successful at the jobs he’s posting, and otherwise avoid actually paying people for services rendered.
The de facto political power in Black Spire Outpost, Batuu, belongs to Oga Garra, a Jabba expy, but Dok-Ondar is the next on the list for “protects his interests with coercion and threats of violence.” He has hired thugs and they’re not just to prevent someone from breaking a window while he’s out to lunch. In A Crash of Fate he gets stuck in the shop storeroom for a bit because the door got closed on him and his employees (who, mind you, are children) are too afraid of him to consider looking for him or letting him out for a long time. He is explicitly contrasted with Savi’s salvage crew, who act as a benevolent, fair place for fugitive Force-adepts and Resistance sympathizers to land and figure themselves out.

A lot of places are named after historical events, battles, and people, so keep that in mind. God/Goddess names tied to your world also work well. Places are also often named after things that the area is known for, like Georgia being known for its peaches.
My brain was fried by the end of this so feel free to add more!
I hope you find this reference helpful and good luck world-building!

Best to Share With a Friend
Happy Popcorn Day! I just returned from my own visit to Batuu and had a blast. This is a solo Vi Moradi fic.
She finished up another hard day of work for Savi as one of his Gatherers. It wasn’t that she needed to continue the job, as being the leader of the Batuuan Resistance base took up a lot of her energy, but she enjoyed the company of everyone she worked with. They were a nice group of coworkers, friendly, trustworthy. Quickly, Vi began to think of them as a second family.
Like many days after work, she searched around the bustling market for a place to eat. However, without her coworkers calling the shots, she was left to her own devices to choose. There were so many options in Black Spire Outpost, she didn’t know where to start. The smells of the stalls wafted through her nostrils, enticing her with the warm scents of cooked meat from Ronto Roasters and the old docking bay.
The popping sound against metal caught her attention. She almost forgot Kat Saka’s kettle was in this part of town.
It wasn’t exactly a meal, but Outpost Mix was a wonderful treat. She could afford to skip a healthy meal once in a while.
"Bright suns!" Vi greeted as she ordered a bag of the treat, dusted with red, pink, and purple powder for flavor and color. She was always told artificial coloring on food was a questionable addition, but right now, she didn’t care about the luxuries of being able to afford to be picky. There were days when her stomach growled and she was transported back to the days after the Battle of Crait, when the Resistance was short on food and days without eating were common. Those memories reminded her how lucky she was to run a base on a world like Batuu, where no one was worried about running out of food.
She sat down on a low duracrete wall by the stand and popped a handful into her mouth. The treat almost melted in her mouth, salty and sweet dancing on her taste buds in harmonious unison. Vi smiled with the first bite.
Staring at nothing in particular, she noticed smaller details of the marketplace she hadn’t before. Amateur graffiti artists left their marks in simple designs and single colors, expressing their support for the Resistance or their wish for Black Spire to go back to its neutral roots. Oga certainly kept that stance, though she had no problem profiting off either side.
A sign next to the kettle stand caught her eye. Vi hadn’t noticed that before either.
Perfect for sharing with a friend, the sign read against the dirty beige stone.
Looking down at the bag in her hands, she agreed it would be a fun treat to share. Too bad Rey and Chewbacca had already fled the outpost, the mission with Green Squadron and a handful of new recruits going awry from the start and forcing the ex-stormtrooper Finn out of his own undercover mission on a First Order Star Destroyer. If they were still here, she would have all bought them bags of popcorn to share.
Days like these, Vi often wondered what life would be like for her after the First Order fell. Sometimes, news of missions gave her a sense of finality, like the end of the conflict was growing closer. She wasn’t sure if she was right, but sometimes, her intuition was correct about these things. Savi would tell her it was because the Force liked her, even if she wasn't a Jedi like Rey. Vi wasn't sure what she believed in, but she saw the amazing things Rey and Kylo Ren could do and knew there was more to the Force than she thought she could ever understand.
The first thing she wanted to do when she was no longer needed was visit her brother. The second was to find a better wig or a hair stylist that could work with her growing hair. No longer cropped to the base of her skull, Vi was growing annoyed by the hair net she placed on her head every morning to keep her natural hair from sticking out from under her wig. Her natural color was also showing from the fading bleach job she did months before.
Even if victory was there’s – and she had total faith it would be – it would always be bittersweet. So many had fallen for the cause and their sacrifices would always be remembered.
She imagined such a comrade beside her now. A man with blue-black hair and a history he’d rather not be remembered for. One that did her wrong and wanted so desperately for her to forgive him.
“Caf’s still as weak as a newborn bantha,” he would complain if he were here, “but this stuff’s not bad. Anything’s better than the paste we got each dinner back in the Order.” She knew he would reach in the bag for more.
Her hands twitched slightly against loose kernels, reminding her she no longer had feeling in some of her fingers thanks to his botched torture job.
“Quit complaining,” she would say to him. “I’m feeding you, right?”
“Like you’d let anyone starve,” he would laugh. “Mother Hen.” He would say this fondly, using the nickname the recruits called her when they thought she wasn’t listening.
At times, she struggled to think of Cardinal and Archex as the same person, but despite all her wishing, the reality was, they were. The man in the scarlet stormtrooper gear haunted her nightmares. The one underneath the armor had been a friend. Even if Leia said everyone deserved a shot at redemption, Vi wasn’t sure she completely could forgive Cardinal for the trauma he induced.
Or maybe this was a case of forgive but never forget. He really regretted what he’d done, and though she wasn’t sure if he ever thought himself as officially part of the Resistance, all the work he put into their base showed his sincerity of seeking a purpose, seeking her approval. Archex did everything he could think of to try to make it up to her. He made lots of mistakes doing so – she certainly didn’t appreciate the kiss he planted on her, even if she tried to wave it off – but every act showed the person who had been underneath the armor the whole time. It must have been hard to realize you wasted twenty years of your life serving the wrong people and she couldn’t blame the starving fifteen-year-old he had been for joining them in the first place.
Vi often felt a sense of loss when she thought about what Archex could have been had he not gotten mixed up with the First Order. He was a loyal soldier, took every cause he stood for to heart, even if he regretted it later. If Rey could be such a loving and strong woman despite the years she spent on Jakku, surely the same could be said about him?
Complex probably was the best way to describe their relationship and Vi knew even decades from now, assuming she survived, she still would never quite understand him.
If she couldn’t share a bag of popcorn with a friend, the next best thing was to share with the memory of one.

i spent like half the day at galaxy's edge! i tried a lot of food & drink i have opinions on, but basically next time if i want something more special than the alien bath water at the market i’ll just go straight for a cup of phattro
millennium falcon smuggler’s run:
they’re right, it’s like a really fancy arcade game
i went with my family and together we’re so bad at video games. we scored 28%, 31%, and 31% on the three times that we went, and my brother and i piloted each time so all the damage to the ship was our fault lmao. sidenote i have a new respect for atton and will never judge him for crashing ever again
i suspect that a big reason for our low scores is that neither me or my brother heard hondo say “left pilot, hit the brakes!” so we both missed that qte when we were in the left pilot’s seat, i only caught the line in our third and final run and i bet that’s what really hit the ship’s health bar (besides all our other scrapes and minor collisions)
i just googled the ride to remember what hondo’s name is and i saw that it’s possible to have negative credits at the end of the ride, and also that one container of coaxium is the worst case scenario, so hey! at least we got 2 containers each time and always made a profit
droid depot:
i was on the fence abt building a droid and left the shop with just an r2 keychain, but its cheery beeps and trills convinced me so i went back for the droid. i thought i’d go for the b-series since the sphere design is newer and more interesting, but ended up going for the r-series
i chose an orange/transparent head dome bc i like orange, but for the r-series every component besides the head only comes in white, black, red, or blue, so i did my best in-store and i'm gonna try getting some orange multi-surface paint to see if i can paint the body and get some color coordination going on
according to Lore i have a r3 unit on my hands, and i'd have to be republic or empire to get my hands on one officially, soooo i’ll just say i came across it less-than-officially. its name is r3-d5 and i love them
honestly when i read that the build-your-own droids interact with the park i was like “okay what do i care, that’s useless outside the park” but when it happens,,, it is cute. it’s cute and it’s worth having to tote it around the outpost. the first time it sounded i stopped us and was like “listen,,,,, that sound? it cost a hundred dollars”
i still wish they’d had personality chips in stock, but it’s fine. maybe i’ll be able to go again at some point and get that chip for the price of $12.99 plus park admission
cantina:
when the description said 90% standing space, i gotta admit, i pictured the worst case scenario of standing without tables. they do at least give you tables
we ended up getting every non-alchoholic drink on the menu-- which, before it sounds too extravagant, was just one drink per person because the carbon freeze was sold out. i’d been looking forward to the carbon freeze, but hey, what can ya do
the non-alcoholic drinks came in disposable plastic cups (it was frosted plastic so it’s a little more special, but still) and they were only like, 5 inches tall. people at the bar got glass cups and actual bartending, so i'm assuming only alcoholic drinks get to be served in cool glass cups
it's very loud inside, but i at least genuinely liked the music. thanks dj-r3x
at one point the power “went out” from a hyperdrive failure (or something) and one of the bartenders made a show of going like, oh c’mon you old piece of junk, not again, and hit the thing with a mallet until the power came back on. the crowd cheered him on really loudly and i was like, yeah, this cantina is definitely not my scene. dj-r3x lost power when the failure happened, and when the power came back on he acted like it was his first time dj-ing again; that’s kinda sad, but i guess memory wipes are routine for droids
star tours:
okay yeah it’s not in galaxy’s edge but d'you know how it does relate? they added a new ending scene where you land at black spire outpost
yeah! they did that! they advertised a section of the park when you’re IN THE PARK! like hey wink wink nudge nudge look it’s batuu, which you can visit yourself, and it’s on the screen!
look disney when i’m on star tours i don’t want to see places i can actually go. i wanna see unreachable fictional planets alright, that’s the point
after going on twice and seeing nearly the same exact run both times (only the intro differed, the rest was the same ep 7 & 8 stuff, ending on batuu each time), we all thought the scenes for the new movies sort of ruin the re-ride value bc they always seem to come up way more often than the classic scenes, which actually allow more variation
my brother tapped out after the second time bc of the lack of variation but i went back for a third time because i gotta get our money’s worth, and guess what! the classic scenes were back and all it took was one more ride at 11:45pm. my seat was at the very outer edge of the back row that time but it still ended the day excellently

Black Spire Outpost was pretty enough, he supposed. Kylo wasn’t a fan of the humid jungle planets but seeing that this one had markets housing items he needed, he’d put up with it. He glanced up at what the man was talking about and found the petrified trees in the distance.
“Of the trees? Or something else? They’re pretty yes, but I can’t imagine them holding much more significance than that.” It wasn’t said unkindly but Kylo was trying to keep a low profile. He’d even managed to find clothes that weren’t terribly noticeable. He was aware of the 709th being in the area not long ago.
“Speaking of significance, you wouldn’t happen to know where Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities is, would you?”
