Ancient Greek Summer School: II
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, I woke up after a restless sort of sleep at about 5am, which was not ideal. I couldn't sleep, though, and so I stayed awake. I read for most of that time but also did some journaling. Although I was planning to shower, I did not.
Breakfast was at 7:45, and I had a full English which was very good, and some extremely bitter coffee with it. Although I had forgotten my water bottle, I persisted. I chatted with friends and felt good to start.
At 9am, we had our first Ancient Greek lesson and it went very smoothly. There was a lot of reading aloud and on the spot translation, which was intimidating, but I was very good at it! We also were given our textbooks, which we get to keep. There are fish and plants outside of my classroom in an indoor pond, since it is ordinarily a biology room.
At 10:30, we had a coffee break, where I spoke to my friends on the intermediate course, and met someone else a year below me at college. It was nice to speak with everyone, and eat some biscuits.
We had our next lesson after that, and I started feeling a bit ill and irritable, probably from all the coffee accompanied by the heat and lack of water. During the lesson, I was fine, but I started feeling anxious and I left very soon after lunch began to go back to my room.
It was nice to be in my room, drinking water and getting the sickness out of my system (I feel fine now) as well as eating some snacks that I'm very glad to have brought. I did some homework, learning mostly the vocabulary and the definite articles (which I am being tested on tomorrow).
Our last session presented us with more revision for our quizzes tomorrow! We have to know the declensions of bainō, conjugation of kalos, the definite articles, and all of the vocabulary that came up in our translations from today. I actually feel confident, but I am worried that I will forget it all by tomorrow. Also, yes I have already filled up almost the entire pack of flashcards that I purchased this morning.
We had supper outside - me, the Welsh boy from my house, my partner, and a vicar's son who came over to us. It was nice to eat outside as opposed to in the true chaos that is the dining hall.
After that, my Welsh friend and I went back to our house to study some more, and then we went back to campus for our evening lecture about Odysseus. I was disappointed and felt the lecture to be basic. There was a chance to speak to him afterwards, which I did not take, although he seemed very nice.
When I got back to my dorm, I phoned my dad and he was relieved and proud of me being okay here. Then I studied for my quizzes tomorrow. My plan for the evening now, is to sign into my house for the night, read through the textbook section covered today, read my book, and sleep.

"You can come home to me when you're ready I left the gate unlocked for you 'Til then I'm sending out smoke signals Hoping I'll see yours too ,"
hey guys, i'm going to release more information about myself!
Tumblr media
This is my school environment. I live in a boarding school and sometimes I still feel like I should leave this place :(
but there are many things I like about this place. It feels like this place is one with nature, and sometimes I remember the song 'Smoke Signals' every time I see this place.
That's why i put that lyrics as the beginning of this write.

Happy Navratri | Springfield Public School Wishes You A Happy Navratri Jai Mata Di
Happy Navratri: Celebrating the Divine Feminine in April
Navratri, a festival celebrating the divine feminine energy, traditionally falls in the months of September or October. However, in some regions and communities, Navratri is also observed in April, typically known as Chaitra Navratri. This variant of the festival holds equal significance and is celebrated with great enthusiasm and devotion. Let’s delve into the essence of Navratri in April and the joyous festivities surrounding it.
Chaitra Navratri: A Springtime Celebration
Chaitra Navratri marks the beginning of the Hindu New Year in the lunar calendar, falling in the Hindu month of Chaitra (March-April). It coincides with the onset of spring, symbolizing renewal, growth, and vitality. The festival spans nine days, during which devotees worship various forms of Goddess Durga and seek her blessings for prosperity, happiness, and spiritual upliftment.
Rituals and Traditions:
Ghatasthapana: As with the autumn Navratri, Chaitra Navratri commences with Ghatasthapana, the ritual of consecrating the Kalash or sacred pot. The Kalash is adorned with symbols of auspiciousness and filled with water, signifying the presence of divine energy. Nine Days of Devotion: Each day of Chaitra Navratri is dedicated to the worship of a different manifestation of Goddess Durga, known as Navadurga. Devotees observe fasts, recite prayers, and perform rituals to honor the divine feminine in her various forms.
Special Offerings: Offerings of fruits, flowers, incense, and sweets are made to the Goddess during the Navratri period. Devotees visit temples dedicated to Goddess Durga and participate in elaborate puja ceremonies conducted by priests.
Navratri Cuisine: Traditional dishes prepared during Chaitra Navratri include vrat-friendly (fasting) recipes such as sabudana khichdi, kuttu ki puri, and fruit chaat. These dishes are devoid of grains and non-vegetarian ingredients, adhering to the dietary restrictions observed during the festival.
Cultural Celebrations: In addition to religious rituals, Chaitra Navratri is also a time for cultural festivities. Dance performances, music concerts, and community gatherings take place, where people come together to celebrate the spirit of Navratri through Garba, Dandiya Raas, and other traditional dances.
Jai Mata Di:
“Jai Mata Di” resonates throughout Chaitra Navratri as devotees invoke the blessings of the Mother Goddess. This fervent chant reverberates with devotion, faith, and reverence for the divine feminine energy that pervades the universe.
Conclusion:
Chaitra Navratri in April offers an opportunity for spiritual renewal, purification, and devotion. As we celebrate the arrival of spring and honor the divine feminine during this auspicious festival, let us immerse ourselves in prayers, rituals, and acts of kindness. May the blessings of Goddess Durga fill our lives with joy, prosperity, and spiritual fulfillment. Jai Mata Di!

“Owning our story and loving ourselves through that process is the bravest thing that one can ever do.”
No it’s not just another self love article!
Don’t we actually feel like I am about to cry but what if someone saw me or asked me what happen. What will I answer? I can’t tell them about it cause it’s my secret! ~ I know we all think that.
I agree, we all have secrets. As dark as vantablack. You wanna keep it to yourself. It’s true you. What you do in your past brings you to a moment where you want to say let’s end this! Even if I change who’ll care and they still think I am the old me. Honestly I feel I am talking about my self here. You must be wondering, why is she exposing her life talks? Maybe because I came across many people with the same story and it felt as if I saw myself there, were all hurt, giving up,scared and screwed up. Most importantly scared of the society what will they think (trust me I am not thinking that anymore). However the worst part was the people I thought were friends weren’t there, seems like one-sided friendship now. Huh! As the summer went by...it’s was the first day of 8th grade. I was covered with my friends and I was in my head thinkin are they my friends? Months passed with me crying over my pillow, walking alone, sitting on the land hill top, watching the sunsets in sports. Then I realised I need self love,I need me in me. I felt no one is going to make you stand up so why don’t you? I did. But they say some times it’s just you,so be you. I started of with what I liked bad me happy but people around me were with a crooked smile which was more like a fake one. I was on a way of being a boss but the mistake I did was I became a bad-ass not on point mean. Took some time trying to be sweet even with those statues but yes I realised everyone can change! I did. I won’t lie that I got flashbacks of my old relationships but self love made me go through.
It was me for me and always the same. This was more like a fairy tale but made me understand the meaning of life. So,here’s a tip if you’re feeling hurt or hated. Whoever has watched Sanju will know this! ”kuch toh log kahenge, logo ka kam he kehena “

28/07/24 :
Ancient Greek summer school
Day one!
Today is my first day of Greek school. I was very nervous when I came up, but my Housemasters are really kind and friendly and made me feel very comfortable. So did the boys there, actually. A very loud New Yorker managed to form a circle prior to our house meeting. Before that house meeting, we had supper. I found the dining hall very overwhelming, but I ate well and sat with a couple friends of mine.
We had a fire drill after the house meeting, and I spoke to a boy there who is now a friend of mine, I suppose. We managed to bond over being.. not insanely rich, as most people here are. After the induction assembly, we found my partner and his new friend, a girl from Boston, who we explored with and then went to the bar.
I met my tutor for the next two weeks - a no nonsense sort of woman who seemed overall very nice. We get to keep the books that she gives us. She dealt well with an annoying, obnoxious boy who is both in my class and my house. Not excited to deal with him, but it's okay.
My house is lovely, out of the way and next to a horse field. We have a great view, and my room has a sink, so I brushed my teeth in peace and quiet. I set my alarm for 6:30am so that I can shower without disruption. Tonight, I am going to read and fall asleep.

Things that I am nervous about (summer school):
1. Being in gender segregated boarding houses and thus having to be around other boys, and separated from my friends.
2. Exercising in front of other people if I am invited to go running, or play tennis/squash.
3. Potentially not being as good at Ancient Greek as I want to be.
4. Finding it difficult to make friends, or to fit in with my friends' friends. Either this could be out of anxiety or out of autism reasons.
5. Being ostracised (in any vague way).
6. Being MURDERED in a freak incident because everyone hates me or something.
7. Showering in cubicles.
I will update and we will see if any of these turn out to be legitimate fears.
