Trigger Warning: mention of childhood abuse but no specific details
Whats up fellow human beings,
Today as I was going through the photos I have taken these are a few of the ones that I love the most. I am in such need of things that make me feel content and proud because over the past couple of weeks I have been struggling with heightened anxiety due to moving from one hotel to the next. One way I have coped with the anxiety is by looking back at the photos I have taken because seeing them gives me the feelings of contentment and pride. Being able to express myself through photography has always been a part of my life. When I was younger my dad and I use to spend the weekends I was at his house exploring the area we lived or going on trips that lasted weeks  to the Grand Canyon, Zion or Sedona. In those moments I found joy even though my father was an abusive man. In the present moment remembering those good times causes me to feel a little sad because as of January 2023 I have gone no contact with both my father and his partner Art due to childhood abuse and neglect. Going no contact with both of them has greatly improved my mental health symptoms and now I have a safe support network, a great treatment team, and friends who are caring and loving. What has really helped me bring joy back into my life around photography is going on hikes with my mom and taking photos. Taking photos with my mom is always fun because she got her B.A in fine arts and she has a particular love for photography. So today I don’t always feel sad when looking at photos or taking photos because my new photography buddy loves me unconditionally and treats me with kindness even when I am struggling with emotion regulation or other mental health symptoms and she expresses how proud of me she is and how resilient I am unlike my father who is not capable of giving that kind of support. So if you are struggling with an abusive parent or partner you are not alone and my inbox is always open.

I am still here and still going to get back to writing the fic.
I’m only about 3 weeks out from my most recent surgeries so I’m still healing. I’m still on some painkillers and some meds for the severe anxiety attacks, so those combined with my seizure meds is keeping me pretty lethargic and fatigued which keeps me mostly bedbound and sleeping. Hopefully my stamina will begin to come back over the coming weeks.
I can’t wait to share with you guys the next installment of Remus’ story. 💜 Thank you all, for all of your patience while I give my body the time it needs to heal and rest.

Recovering from a brain injury is probably the hardest task I've ever endured. I have had a week or so of noticeable improvements. For example, I've had less brain fog, some slight ease on multi-tasking, a little less irritability, etc. Only to wake up to the complete opposite. I'm scatter-brained, forgetful, foggy-brained, anxious, and just a few minutes ago, I could not remember my address. I have no clue whether to be concerned with these changes or if this will simply be what recovery looks like: good days and bad days. I suppose in writing that out, I've come to the realization that, thus, is life. It's OK to have the roller coaster; as long as you remain seatbelted with all body parts inside the ride at all times. I don't want to lose my head.
