fun monster vessel thoughts: as they start to change more they're able to produce inhuman calls to each other as a unique form of communication. distorted whalesong, frequencies pitching too high and low for the human ear – and much like whales in a pod, each of their vocalizations is different.
vessel and iv are the most vocal and tend to flirt like this often by harmonizing, cooing at each other like a pair of eldritch turtle doves.
iii tries to join in but his throat hasn't quite developed as much yet, so his calls tend to be more squeaky or raspy. he gets lovingly teased about this on occasion.
ii's are the deepest and can sweep the entire manor. full body sonar pings so strong you can physically feel the click in your chest from the vibrations. he does this as a form of check-in with the others when he doesn't have time to chat or is busy with other tasks.
their throats bulge and roll to create these sounds, like flexing newfound muscles. sometimes Vessel places a hand on their necks because he loves how it feels.
my point of inspiration here is the bretheren moon from dead space which is made out of a mix of whale song and other animals. i'll link clips of it later.

The flutter came in the form of silks and wings, and upon the high point above their heads, rose the silhouette from the crags and crevices keeping their settlement secret. They gathered together, witnessing this manifestation take shape into the form of a woman, unrecognizable in their eyes, along with the company she kept.
They could have attacked outright, she was a suspicious figure, but it would mean an early death, and they have buried enough of their bretheren over half a moon past.
“ What business do you bring here, or is it wrath you seek to cast upon us, shell-less one? ”
Cautious words were the weapons they chose tonight, but she had little to offer in the way of words. What fell to their ears were the disembodied voices carried out into the winds. They knew little of how she felt, how something within her stirred with uncertainty, desperation, and desire to seek her one truth. But those summoned with her were aware and reacted to the energy she emits.
A soft growl is heard beyond the sinister smiles of the two bipedal hounds cursed with multiple eyes.. which had all been focused on the quarry below.
Tumblr media
A horrific experience it was, especially when accompanied by her terrible spirits; these consorts leered at each one of them, maws parted with glittering rows of teeth that they feared could easily puncture their shells. Yet, there is no ire from her specifically, but from where they stood, they are able to capture the conflict behind her gilded, orphic gaze.
Around them the heavens darkened, the sun was choked out by the building clouds. Lighting struck, thunder chased after the white fire luminating her figure, and the delicate wings of the butterflies that gravitate towards her fingertips.
Tumblr media
One thing to remember, not all is what it seemed. The butterfly is proof of such, it was an obake, which drifted down by her guiding hand to reach them. Their blades were drawn and at the ready, but the creature did very little in retaliation, it simply shifts before their eyes, taking the form of a talisman that drifted upon the light wind until it fell to the ground before them.
Observing it in silence, one of the red kojin braved it, perhaps influenced by his curiosity, and stepped forth to gather it. Outloud to the others, he read the one name elegantly written with ink, one that belonged to the man she searched for.
They knew the name. But, there was another that she had not expected to grace her ears, a regrettably recognizable one, woven into a laconic conversation regarding what he has done.
.. and how it was tied to the disappearance of Mister Fitzgerald.

Man, I love dead space. If you plan to make some weird brethren moon reference then that's amazing. Honestly, all the references to the fnaf lore and other irl things you manage to fit into your fic are amazing
Same bruh 😩👌
I legit just finished playing through the 2023 remake repeatedly until I 100%ed it
Tumblr media
My game glitched tho and gave the the achievement for beating it on impossible “one life” mode when I didn’t but I ain’t complaining cause doing so would have been a headache anyway XD
I’m hoping they remake 2 (I love how the remake made the jump from the first to second game more cohesive with Issac talking from the getgo and that one secret ending) and just completely rewrite 3 while keeping the Bretheren Moon lore
Cause that shit was dope while the rest of the game (sans the DLC with the Moons) felt pretty “eh” and not nearly as horror as the og due to EA’s meddling
And fjejfjejjd
Thanks ;w;

Castlevania The Adventure Part 1: AAAAAAAAAAA-
Finding a single game in the series that can be considered “The Worst Castlevania game” is not really simple
There is no equivalent to the likes of Sonic 06, or Mega Man X6-7 or Superman 64 here that is very obviously crappy and broken at a fundemental level
Some (especially in the early 2010s) considered Judgement to be the worst thing in the series, but that was mostly due to the godawful designs and stupid writing, the game itself is unremarkable from what I can tell. Not good but certainly nothing to loose any sleep over either
The Lords of Shadows games were INTENSELY hated back then and I remember it quite well, if you said anything nice about them you were basically painting a target on your back...but ever since then more people have come out saying that they were actually decent, just not really Castlevania games (whatever that means after 1997)
The N64 games have garnered quite a reputation for themselves but even they have their fans and their general clunkiness is something that was very common in early 3D games back then
I guess Haunted Castle has the absolute worst level design in the series but that’s an arcade game meant to force players into pumping as many quarters as they could, it’s not a commercially released game per se so who really cares in the end?
(I would also add Circle of the Moon to this list but I’m afraid that most of the fanbase is not ready for such a statement)
So to say that Castlevania the Adventure is the worst Castlevania game ever made would honestly not be completely fair, especially given that we’re looking at a small and very limited launch title for the original gameboy
It sure is a strong candidate for the title though!
This game is a fucking mess! You wanna see just about everything that can go wrong with the Classic formula? Well here it is!
Now with this being a launch title for the GB of course this game has quite a few limitations when compared to its NES bretheren, which is understandable! For example there are no subweapons here, the only things that come out of candles are coins used for points, hearts which in this game restore small portions of health and the occasional cross that gives temporary invulnerability
The issue is that this game has a bunch of problems that can’t be simply chalked up to its release date and hardware and are either just plain asinine design choices or due to a lack of experience that the team had with the hardware
For starters: this game is slow as shit. Castlevania in general is not the speediest series around (unless you’re Juste Belmont) but here Christopher moves like he’s got 2-Ton weights strapped on his person. Not only does he walk slow he even whips slower than in the NES games, causing my timing to be ever so slightly off (and that’s assuming he even registers your inpits ‘cause I swear I’ve counted quite a few times when I pushed the button to attack and he did jack). What’s worse is that he jumps like the Earth just suddenly increased its gravitational pull ten-fold! He barely gets any horizontal distance and immediately drops like a rock. What this means is that almost every single jump in this game has to be pixel perfect, which would be annoying on its own but the game itself is often pretty hellbent on wanting to make you suffer over this because it absolutely LOVES putting you in situations where you have to make such jumps in rapid successions on platforms that fall the exact moment you step on them
Then there’s the way the whip works! In the Classic games you usually start with a basic leather whip but after whipping some candles you find an upgrade to make it into a more powerful chain whip and then another that gives it greater length.
The Adventure does the same...except you lose these upgrades as soon as an enemy hits you
Let me repeat this: You get offensively WEAKER each time you get HIT!! In a game that’s already way harder than even Castlevania 3! This means that you’ll be spending a good chunk of your time just attacking enemies with your weakest attacks
This is just straight up cruel, I can understand wanting to punish the player for playing too carelessly but this, when combined with the awful controls, does not feel fun in the slightest
The game has only 4 levels. These first 2 are....eh. The first one is fine, not too bad and the other starts being a dick with the falling platforms over bottomless pits
But the third stage
Ohhhh the third stage...you’ll see!

Spoilers C3E30
Fair bit to unpack, but firstly I seem some people really going in on Ollie and Birdie, and even Chetney seems to be but I really don't get why. I get the feeling that they were quite desperate, and possibly Morri, and Ira capitalized on that. I don't think they were actually involved with any of the Unseelie stuff outside of the theft of the crown.
As for Ira...well...I do have to wonder, if he is just a monster, or simply Amoral and out for himself, however, he can satiate his boredom. We'll likely see what his deal is next episode, but some folks are taking the looks Ollie and Birdie were giving him that Ira was the one that gave Fearne to Morri, but that doesn't make much sense to me.
I think, Morrigan just...did what was in her nature, and while it is screwy she took so much time from Fearne, she was never cruel to her, if anything Fearne lived a very charmed life, that we know of so far. The cracks are forming but while possibly a bit amoral, I don't think we can write her off just yet. Yell, the most helpful Archfey we've seen so far was Artagan, and he readily strangled a man to death when he knew there would be no permanent consequence. Morrigan seems to be on his level, so...what's a little lost time to a being that can bend it to their whims and wiles? There is also the fact she aided Morrighan in EXU, though as of yet we don't know why.
Some people have noted that the description of the Elven Man that Ollie saw speaking with the Unseelie, seems to resemble at face value the description of one Ludenis Da'Leth, rat bastard founder of the Cerberus Assembly, enabler of Trent, Delilah, and who knows what else. If he's tied into all of this I can only imagine the cast's reaction if that actually is the ticket, and that gets revealed.
An now, once more we find a city.
An outlandish, odd city.
A caged city of unknown providence.
But where once there was a city ensnared by chains of shadow, there sits a city encompassed by bars of light.
How old is it?
How long has it lasted amongst the storms?
And who lives in this distant city on the Moon?
Is it a seat of Gods, caged by their bretheren?
A city of the damned?
A city...from somewhere beyond Exandria's history?
A city of the dead?
The spirits of those lost in crimson thunder?
Points to Bertrand
Or maybe, it is a city inhabited by the living? Could Imogen's mother be amongst them?
Is the power Imogen feels, from them?
Or the Moon itself?
What is it?
Who is it?
And how did it come to be?
Sidenote: Orym being the one to guide Imogen to see the truth is so incredibly symobolic, the Keen Eyed Little Moon.

Leo
Tumblr media
Name: Leo
Gender: male
Age: 15
Hair color: flame colored (formerly white)
Eye color: red (formerly dark blue)
Height: 5'02
Weight: 130 pounds
Nationality: Celestial
Strengths: see below
Appearance: pale skin
Long White hair (formerly)
Long flame colored hair (currently)
Blue eyes (formerly)
Red eyes (currently)
Inventory: Family Locket (which he keeps under his shirt)
Sword of Embued Flame (gift from the Sun Goddess)
Biography: Leo was born under the Cult of Lunaris to his mother Josephine. Leo was a very happy boy and was a source of pride for his mother and his father, Lunaris who awaited his current generation for their powers. When Leo was two years old, his mother gabr birth to his younger sister, Silk. During this early time in life, Josephine was slowly growing more frail and more ill.
When Leo turned three years old, him and his fellow Vessel siblings (except for Silk since she was too young for her powers to emerge.) all went to get their blood drawn to see what powers they inherited from their Celestial father. The doctors were able to see which powers he inherited, except for Leo's premonition which, unlike Yoru before him, was harder to detect. Due to Moon, Leo's older half brother gaining the regeneration factor of the late moon Goddess; Nebula, Leo was no longer to be a vessel.
As Josephine grew sicker and weaker, and with Silk wanting to become Lunaris's favorite, Leo was feeling more isolated from his family. Once he was age six, Josephine became bedridden by an unknown illness, due to no longer being attended to and Silk neglecting her mother and brother, Leo was left to help care for his mother alone. One day, when Leo went to get food from the dining hall, he ran into Moon who wanted to try and help Leo, but Leo slapped his hand away. In Leo's mind, all his misfortunes started when Moon was appointed the new vessel, causing Leo to scream at Moon, throwing things at the young boy, and announcing how much he hated him.
When Leo turned nine, Josephine passed away with Silk and him to be relocated to the Children's rooms where they would stay with the other former vessels except for Moon. Leo decided there was nothing left for him in the cult and decided to try escaping. Even though he could be put to death by escaping the cult, Leo attempted his escape plan, managing to somehow escape from the cult and leaving his old life behind.
It would be a week after a follower of the Sun Goddess heard of an escapee from Lunaris and had Leo taken to her. Once Leo explained he was finished with the life of Lunaris's Cult, the Goddess gave him a propersition; become her follower where he will be able to escape his bretheren, or go out into the world and live as a normal human by her erasing his powers.
Leo chose to become her follower, giving him new clothes and also, to erase his previous identity as a child of Lunaris, changed his hair to flame colored and his eyes red to show his new loyalty to the Sun Goddess.
Leo lived his life serving the Sun Goddess and her people and grew to know her as a powerful but benevolent woman who made Leo always feel welcomed even if her own followers still were hesitant towards him. One day as he reached fifteen years of age, word got out that Moon, Lunaris's vessel had escape the cult and that Lunaris was going through any means to recapture his vessel. Because they are half brothers, the Sun Goddess put Leo in charge of finding Moon and attempt to take him back to her homeland to keep Moon safe from Lunaris's clutches.
Leo, at first reluctant until the Sun Goddess told him that doing this may give him more closure.
Detailed appearance:
Leo is a youthful young man with a light skin complexion and bright red eyes. He wears a black body suit and pants with an orange croptop that has pale beige lace and a battle-tattered skirt. His top has long sleeves, with the right sleeve being longer with some holes on the top held by gold clips. His left sleeve is smaller with a larger hole and gold clips as well as pale beige lace on the inside. Underneath his right sleeve, Leo wears a black fingerless glove that exposes the back of his hand. Leo wears dark red straps on his upper arms and on his neck, on his neck is a medallion of a solar eclipse. He wears a red belt with a garter-like strap on his leg with a medallion of a Solar eclipse and another of a black flame with a yellow pigment. He wears red boots with orange flame patterns with black toes and a yellow diamond on the end. Leo's most noticable feature is his very long, flame colored hair that is gradiented from red to yellow as it goes down it's length. His side locks are put in two long braids with dark red hairbands. Leo has a crescent moon shaped cowlick, a feature his half brother Moon also owns.
When he was a member of the Cult of Lunaris, Leo had white hair and dark blue eyes. When he swore loyalty to the Sun Goddess, his hair turned flame colored and his eyes turned red.
He usually wore a variety of casual wear, but when he was to preform "church" activities, he wore the standard male robes for the Cult of Lunaris.
Power Section
Being Lunaris's son, Leo has a variety of powers given to him by his demigod birth.
Premonition
An ability Josephine tried keeping from Lunaris. Similar to his family member, Yoru, Leo is able to see the future, however it is in little fragments that show glipses of what may happen. Leo uses his ability to help protect his friends.
Pain Sharing
Leo has a psychic connection that can feel anyone experiencing pain or illness. Leo was able to feel his mother's weakened body and felt Moon's mother torturing him. Leo has been able to control it so he doesn't feel it often, but he is able to use it to pinpoint anyone in trouble or hurt.
Moonstone Connection
Leo is able to use Moonstones to communicate or use as a talking device between people. By using a Moonstone and using power into it, he is able to use it to telepathically communicate with people. He used to use this power at the cult, now he uses it when doing patrols.
Meteorite Strike
Leo is able to create decently sized meteors and pummel foes using them. His meteorites are made out of power, so they disappear after hitting the ground. Leo refers to this as one of his more powerful moves.
Star Shower
Similar to Meteorite strike, Leo can send down blazing stars to attack enemies. These stars can burn foes, so Leo uses these when nessessary. Just like the meteorite strike, they are made of Leo's power so they disappear once they make contact with something.
Black Haze
Leo is able to conjure a dark mist from his palms as a smokescreen effect. This allows him to escape from a battle or enemies who may seem tougher or larger than him.
Burning Mist
Burning Mist is a hotter variant of Black Haze. From his left palm, Leo is able to create a burning haze that not only smokescreens his surroundings, but also burn his enemies. Leo is invulnerable when inside his own mist.
Dark Flame Magic
Leo can use dark fire magic after he joined the Sun Goddess and her people. With thenpalm of his right hand, Leo is able to blast out black colored flames to burn enemies.
Coal Shower
A mixture between meteorite strike and star shower that he made after joining the Sun Goddess. Leo can send burning coals to rain down on enemies as well as deal damage. Just like their former powers, they vanish once the coals make contact with the ground.
Sword of Embued Flame abilities
Leo's sword. It is made of a hot material, with its blade having the same heat as magma. The sword is able to spit flames and manifest a red dragon. The sword's hilt is cool, so Leo does not burn himself when using it.
Personality: Leo is a young man who is a bit rough around the edges, and pretty hard to get along with. He has a sharp tongue and can be brutally honest to a fault. Because of his upbringing, Leo has a bit of an inferiority complex, desiring to get stronger to prove his worth to the Sun Goddess as well as teaching his father a lesson. Leo desperately wants to fit in with his peers, wanting to be acknowledged no matter what, such examples when he bullied Moon alongside the rest of his half siblings and blood sister. Leo later on regrets ever doing such cruel acts, showing remorse for his actions. Leo has an intense hatred for the Cult of Lunaris, as well as Lunaris in general from abandoning him and his mother when she was ill, this was a factor that played into him becoming a Child of the Sun Goddess. Leo is a hard working individual and always follows instructions to the letter, wanting to prove his worth as well as fear of being disposed of if he doesn't meet expectations. Leo has a bit of a tsundere tendency towards Moon, as he desperately wants to reconnect with Moon and get to know him better, but doesn't want to come off as desperate for familial attention from his ooder brother.
Trivia:
* Leo's birthday is August 21st, making his Zodiac a virgo.
* Leo's favorite food is pizza.
* Leo's favorite drink is fruit smoothies, any flavor will suffice.
* Leo's least favorite food is crab dishes.
* Leo's least favorite drink is soda.
* Leo doesn't like eating bread raw, always having it either be toasted or have a topping, since he feels bread tastes off if its not paired with a something else.
* Leo has a Solar Fairy. She was given to him by Moon. She used to be a Lunar Fairy, but the more she spent time with Leo, the more she transformed.
* Moon hated his white hair and blue eyes, as they were traits that shown he was a child of Lunaris. He was happy these features were changed when he switched to the Sun Goddess's side.
* Leo has a fear of octopi. He claims Octopi are biding their time to overthrow the world. Such a claim hasn't been proven yet.
* Leo loved watching TV, especially action shows. He has adopted several action poses for when he fights, thinking they make his abilities more flashy and cool.
* If mentioned that Leo is a year younger than Moon, Leo will be in a shocked state until someone says anything about him being mature for his age. He hates being reminded how young he is.
* The other sibling that Leo used to get along with was Orion before he left, nowadays, Orion thinks of Leo as nothing but a filthy traitor.

Clevaros Glossary
Some of my writing (including Stem the Tide and a few one-off drabbles) is set in my homebrew D&D world: Clevaros. For those who want to understand more about some of the places mentioned in the story or learn more about my world, this glossary serves as a resource! I’ll update this as more worldbuilding becomes relevant. :)
Tumblr media
Aboleth: Legendary Monster/Historical Figure. The mastermind behind the centuries-long war between the Alari Islands and Tritonis. A few decades ago, they and their aberrant army were assassinated by a group of adventurers from both nations. The hundreds of people under its control were released and the nations have repaired their rift, but aberrant aftershocks continue to plague the region.
Alari Islands: Nation. A tropical archipelago that worships the prime elemental of light. Their population is dominated by sun elves and dragonborn. Each island is governed independently with the divine monastery serving as a council to maintain peace. Recently, they have entered into a peace treaty with Tritonis after a century of war.
Alman: Language. the Common tongue, popularized by the human-founded Alma Empire. Though it fractured into three nations nearly one thousand years ago, their language is still the most widely spoken throughout the world.
Aquan: Language. The language spoken by aquatic creatures, and a dialect of Primordial, the elemental tongue. Most underwater creatures are reclusive, so bilingualism is rare; they can only speak Aquan and understand a bit of Primordial (like Swiss German is to German).
Elvish: Language. A fluid language that has been handed down to mortals by the prime elementals, and it is spoken by the entire elven diaspora.
Fiammetta: Prime Elemental. The goddess of flame. Her current form appears as the bright orange planet of her same name.
Hinterlands: Region. A desert on the main continent that was created from the falling corpse of the prime earth elemental in the final days of the Umbral Invasion. In the years since its formation, it has become a haven for lawlessness and those rejected by normal society.
Hybrid: Fantasy Race. In this context, it refers to a merperson with non-mer ancestry. Unlike other merfolk, their amphibious abilities extend beyond breathing and they can actually grow legs when mostly dry. However, they typically lose their ability to manipulate water and have a harder time communicating with sea animals. Hybrids are extremely rare due to merfolk’s isolationist nature, and more often than not are borne of merfolk and triton/sea elf relationships.
Merfolk: Fantasy Race. Of all their aquatic bretheren, merfolk are the most fish-like, and the most reclusive. They tend to remain concentrated in small communities on the outskirts of Tritonis and Navara. A full-blooded merperson cannot grow legs, but they are amphibious and sometimes even find ways to live on land. However, most merfolk communities are wary of land dwellers who mistake them for sea monsters.
Navara: Religious Site. The former estate of Thalassa, now a divine city in the deepest, darkest parts of the ocean, geographically farther south than the Alari Islands, Tolesca, and Tritonis. Darkvision is necessary to see this far down, so the clerics who settled there after the Umbral War created the first underwater street lamp network from bioluminescent fungi. Today, its residents are tasked with guarding a very important rift.
Sontse: Prime Elemental. The goddess of light and the sun, who speaks through the divine monastery of the Alari Islands. She and her lover, Thalassa, sacrificed their time together when they ascended to the sun and moon, respectively. They only get to speak once each year, on a holiday where the sun and the first moon can be seen at the same time.
Terravite: Crystal. An extremely rare stone with magical properties found in the Hinterlands; remnants of the Prime Earth Elemental’s decaying form. It appears to be a mixture of deep blue, gold, and pink, swirling and shimmering to mesmerize its beholder. Mining of it has halted for the past few hundred years, and getting a hold of it has become near impossible.
Thalassa: Prime Elemental. The goddess of water, whose current form is the first and largest moon. She is often referred to as The Tidepuller, due to her role in manipulating currents from her spot in the sky.
Tolesca: Nation. The former seat of the Alma Empire, and currently a theocracy with growing autocratic tendencies in service to the prime fire elemental, Fiammetta. Their population tends to be made up of humans and tieflings, its many port cities have allowed piracy to thrive.
Tritonis: Nation. An underwater metropolis and the peak of oceanic innovation. Its population is largely made up of Tritons, Merfolk, and some Sea Elves. It is also used to refer to the general nation of aquatic creatures that worship the prime water elemental.
Umbral War: Elemental Conflict. A war that employed the entirety of mortal forces against invading aberrations summoned by the Prime Elemental of Darkness: Vraodhras. Upon its ending almost 1,500 years ago, the 11 remaining Prime Elementals moved their domains to the planets, which now guard Clevaros from encroaching alien threats and even the Lord of Umbra himself.
Vraodhras: Prime Elemental. The god of darkness, or Lord of Umbra, whose power over Clevaros was dispelled once the night became lit by two moons: his siblings Thalassa and Interis. His creations, the aberrations, were banished to the world’s core, guarded by a gate deep underwater. He may have been defeated at the end of the Umbral War, but occasionally, denizens of Clevaros can see a smaller, third moon ominously looming in the sky.
War of Land and Sea: Political Conflict. A war between Tritonis and the Alari Islands that ended just a few decades prior to the present day. For the longest time, it was believed to be a divine lovers spat between the goddesses of the Sun and the First Moon (and their followers), but prophets later revealed that a more sinister puppet master was pulling the strings (see Aboleth). The two former allies reconciled and have since returned to their amiable relationship, protecting each other from the encroaching age of piracy.

Had a discussion and a thought occurred to us that I had to share.
SOMA’s apocalypse came about because a meteor hit the earth, which killed most people and the toxic atmosphere from the aftereffects likely killed everyone else (granted there can be some survivors but very very little is my guess).
At the end of Dead Space 3, the DLC which was the last piece of story in the DS universe - Isaac and Carver finally manage to get back to earth but find that several Brethren Moons have arrived at earth and thus most if not all life has been killed/turned into Necromorphs.
Would be amusing if both stories took place in the same universe-

@fallesto. continued from here: “They only hurt, if you allow them to hurt. They only brother you if you let them and you only get them, if you didn’t learn from all the others you have been gifted in your life. There is no shame in them, everyone will have one…in time, even you…no doubt when you were human before becoming this creature who could never experience the wonders of pain. There is nothing to fear, about being hurt. It is part of being human, part of the experience, part of learning, growing and being better.”
To hold a conversation like this with the sun-eye vampiress. He knew he was one of few who she has ever felt comfortable to sit down and just…talk with. As little as it was, to talk about human issues to an eternal being of the darkness, he still wanted to try and help her understand. To not worry about the children. The bumps and bruises. The cuts and the marks. It was part of it all, the more they got the better in his mind. It would harden them. Make them stronger. Maker them better, some might even leave her care and go into the world swinging and ready to take on all the bullshit that comes there way.
“I respect the customs and values…the traditions in Toussaint. They are a little bit odd to me, even still that in Toussaint you seem to be…so outdated in your ways. There were woman among my soldiers, and they were the best. It doesn't matter…what you are born between your legs, who you are, what you are, none of that matters. You want to fight…and you prove yourself, you work hard, you deviate yourself, you become better, stronger…then you have the right to fight. I have been privileged to stand beside women, who could defeat all of your grandest knights in Toussaint…and easily as well. Your not soft, meek little creatures…not how Toussaint treats you. When you start to see that and start…walking your own paths and not ones laid out for you, this land might not be the lie it is.”
"...and you are wise to do so, Vernon. Traditions are sacred in Toussaint not for a sole purpose of pompous declarations. But I do not give ready-made answers to all ever to my children. I respect an agile mind as much as I respect a strong body. You are wise enough to figure the reason on your own. In your own time," Orianna drawled. Ironically, the curse of a beast inside made the dauntless Temerian...more level-headed. More thoughtful. A man she met at a river bank would slander the whats and whys away with a fling of a crossbow. The change, paired with the initial sharp and biting common sense, pleased the cultured vampiress as a painting in the making would a demanding artist. Yet any change worked like destiny. A two-sided blade. The change slipped over her like a feather-light touch of the moon, that sipped inside the very bones.
Speaking about the benefit of traditions and old ways. Why, she could almost hear the brittle laughter of apa thunchultha in the confinement of her skull... "How curious and similar to ours! It has always cut me how the human females are considered weaker, both in body and in mind. As if a successful hunt depend purely upon the muscles. My bretheren have no such distinction...but, again, we do not usually protect our young for as long or bear them so often", she wanted to continue her sharing her insights with the further examples of the elven culture, but remembered just in time that a good measure of Vernon's wounds - the cruelest and the ugliest - might as well be given by the elves. "The scars, however, might disappear. Regeneration is a merciless thing when it comes to the memories of the flesh. But not the lessons imprinted upon the mind. I hope you would not miss them. I might even envy you in that regard...but you studied letters not to merely please the children and imprint the sweet fruits of orderliness upon their souls, I hope? Writing shall help you to keep what you long not to loose,"
Tumblr media
"As for the land and the lies. I plan a little expedition to the caves tonight. Would you care to accompany me?"

@douloir, continued from x "My horned sisters act like ravenous fiends sometimes, but we rarely approve of battles," contradicts the horned coquette hotly. "It is a prejudice, a most foul prejudice, that succubi admire violence! Our bretheren chorts could be deaf to the sweet pleads and voices of reason. Sometimes we simply had to put our horns forward to stop to their blinding hunger. The only succubus I know who battled a chort out of her own desire, did so for love, if you wish to know! The poor petite chevre gobbled up the half the barn, the cabbage in it, the hay, the nasty salted pork and ... wanted to eat her sangbonbon next! For it was a hollow, harsh winter," at the end of the story the petite succubus has her eyes glittering with tears. "Ah, it is so very romantic!" "Verily, how could you think, dear Gloomyfangs, that I would willingly put such lovely, beauteous horns at risk!" Nistana turns her curly head slowly, left and right, allowing Dettlaff - as blind as he might be to her charms presently, judging from the crust of his emotions - to admire every inch of the unglamored, twisted horns. They are polished to rival the pearls that tastefully adorn them. "I would gladly settle for other things too, but I must beg for your help first," Nistana's coy smile is swept away as quickly as the clouds on a windy day and gives way to the most genuine, if not heartbreaking, concern. "You have your own pack, and understand the wonts and needs of our lesser kin as no one does! My Muffinchops told me many a story," she adds with a sly nonchalance. "Oh, you will know how to banish my heinous woe! Only you can save my poor heart from turning dry and dark, for I am at my wits - and horns! - end!" the hoof is stomped angrily. If not to say beastly. Such the unusual display of uncultured force must be there to underline, just how terrible, beyond the very speech, "the woe" is. "What would you do if your paramour's steed was the most stubborn horse that ever walked under the moon! I am not in love with him, of course, so I'd yearn to be in his good graces. But he makes our affair a living torture. Once he tried to chew the part of the tent that gave me and my beloved a quite moment of respite! Imagine the reckless cruelty of such an endeavor! And it is but the smallest crime in a winding parchment of his evil deeds!"
