I love GK Chesterton.
#he heals me a little bit every time#I think he is frequently misunderstood and also misused#and also I think he IS timeless and yet his strength was always responding to his own time so specifically#and so powerfully and personally#he was always dealing with people as they Were#and so it’s like. it doesn’t all translate!!!!! it can’t!!!!!#you can’t be out here applying it Willy-nilly#and Chesterton fans will do it#we don’t actually know what he would say about problems hyper-specific modern problems#or people or movements#something iconic no doubt! and funny! and on point. and FULL of love#for the humanity involved therein#and humor and insight and hilarity#and also he was just a man. of the people. of the people of his time.#anyway yeah. I love him because of just the profound joy and love of good things#that penetrates to the roots of things and rises above partisan problems/divisions#he is always speaking to everyone. or at least wanting to reach everyone#also he blended holiness and his own work and vocation so profoundly#in a way I don’t know if I’ve ever seen before#like. he was so clearly a man of the world and a man of God#he loved the world. he found it funny. he found it ridiculous. he loved things.#and he understand how it all both sprang from and folded back into God#idk I’m sure it’s also the anxiety in that#he doesn’t make me anxious. I never have to worry about it i can just let him in#and see what he’s speaking on#I am rambling so much! much like gkc#he’s a big part of my heart and he shaped a lot of things for me at foundational points#and he is just always keeping me company! anyway none of these thoughts are well connected but here you go#also yes I love to think he would like Taylor. and I love that no one can ever definitively prove me wrong on this point. lol.#thanks for listening etc.

It’s very kind of people I speak other languages with to assume that my slow comprehension and endless requests for repetition are as a result of us not speaking my first language, when in reality, my auditory processing is just complete shit.

it will never not be funny to me when a “I would NEVER bully someone for being autistic! I’m not ableist!” person that I know has bullied me before finds out that I’m being evaluated for autism because it’s always either the stunned silence and “but I was never THAT mean to you” (yes you were) or the “no you’re not! you’re so normal!” (then why did you call me weird and talk shit behind my back?) or the “yeah, we could tell” (ooo go ahead and lean into it, be the bitch I always knew you were)

So Greg Bryk regularly goes live on Instagram to chat with his followers and answer a few questions, and almost every time, someone asks if he’d like to play Joseph Seed again if he had the chance, to which he used to always reply that, yes, he absolutely would. However, in early 2022, he didn’t seem so sure anymore and said it would depend on the script (the question was specifically about a potential Far Cry 5 movie) and the writer(s). Then, a few months later, he implied he didn’t feel like playing the Father ever again because he thought the character’s story was “finished” and that Ubisoft should focus on creating new things instead…
Well, on October 14, 2023, he once again went live on Instagram and, when people mentioned Far Cry 5 in the chat, he revealed that he had reached out to Dan Hay and Drew Holmes, two of the game’s three main writers he’s become friends with, and that they had visited him “on set” (I’m not sure what he was shooting) the day before. In the past, he had already explained several times that he had loved working with them and thought the story they wrote (along with “JS”, Jean-Sébastien Décant, the game’s third main writer) was fantastic. This time, he added that Far Cry 5 was really “special” to him because the writers “cared a lot” about creating something great with amazing characters, and that he thought the whole Seed family was really well-written.
A few minutes later, when he was asked which character he would like to play again if he could, he said it was hard for him to choose because he loves them all, but he eventually picked Jeremy Danvers (Bitten) and Cobbs Pond (Frontier).
Then, surprisingly, he also mentioned Joseph.
I don’t know why he changed his mind again or if the fact he contacted Dan Hay (who doesn’t work for Ubisoft anymore) and Drew Holmes (who recently became the new IP Director for Far Cry) means anything, and I’m not sure I want more Far Cry 5 content to be released anyway (for continuity reasons), but I guess the Seed family’s return, as equally exciting and truly terrifying as this eventuality sounds to me, isn’t completely out of the question anymore in Greg Bryk’s mind!

So I’ve recently rewatched My Adventures With Superman and I wanted to share a qualm I’ve had with it. That being its use of Superman being an alien as an allegory for immigration and racism. It’s not the execution that I have a problem with—this not being the only idea explored and how the characters and the villains’ motivations are written largely save this from hurting the series—but rather the idea because it forgets the same thing Zootopia and Detroit: Become Human’s allegories forgot: racism is fundamentally irrational.
Even if there are differences between cultures, no group is more or less capable of violence than another. No individual from any group is automatically stronger or more weaponized than an individual from another. Thus fearing a specific group’s capacity for violence is absurd, irrational, and ✨racist✨. Now, with that in mind, is it irrational to fear Superman? I’d say no.
Maybe you could argue that after a certain amount of time there would be enough evidence of him putting himself on the line just to help people that it would be harder to defend fearing him, but if we’re talking about a Superman who’s just starting out like in MAWS… well… Let’s put ourselves in the shoes of some random person in Metropolis. Some random guy from a planet we’ve never heard of shows up one day saying he’s here to help and he wants nothing in return. He never gave us a name and we have no way of knowing where his similarities to humans end or if he’s lying. All we know is what he’s told us, what he’s done, and that he has a laundry list of extremely powerful superpowers with little to no weaknesses. Now maybe y’all are saints compared to me, but I tend to be wary around strangers—especially strangers I know are fully capable of killing me without consequence—and when I hear someone say that their motives are exclusively altruistic, I assume it’s an act. If I was in Metropolis and I didn’t know Superman personally, I’d, at minimum, be concerned about him one day becoming resentful of doing so much for so little. So from my perspective, fearing Superman and wanting to have countermeasures on standby isn’t exactly what I’d consider irrational.
(When you take into account all of the universes with “evil Superman” this perspective makes even more sense. I just didn’t bring that up because the average person wouldn’t know about that.)
My point is that maybe instead of using Superman, an alien with godlike powers, to tell a story about immigration and racism, we could just use a superhero who’s an immigrant or a person of color. Or we could make a new character. Or we could at least make Superman an actual immigrant (he was created by Jewish immigrants, we could make him a Jewish immigrant). I’m just saying that if you want to write about racism, you should use race to talk about it.

i wish that there were actually as many DID specialists as it seems like there are.
so many of these therapists are out here just trying to pad their resume, then when they actually have someone with DID in the chair, they try to fake it til they make it. which they never do.
how am i supposed to get better, when the people who claim they can help are lying about it?

My own posts aren’t showing up on my dash?? (Desktop AND mobile) If I go to my blog, they’re there but they’re not on my dash anymore and posts I’ve reblogged aren’t marked as having been reblogged but if I check the notes, my reblogged & tags are there
Is this a new feature & it’s supposed to be like this now? Or is something fucked up, either on my end or tumblr’s?

first wip shot! this is my first time sculpting a human face so it’s a good start, but the features aren’t right. I probably need to start the whole thing over from the top though bc i think i created the skull shape assuming id do a simpler style but then i started the facial features a lot more realistic lol, so there’s a discrepancy that’ll probably only get worse the more i refine the facial features, but its not bad for a first round!!

it’s all a bit vague in my brain but i just think fhat like. a senior being unable to fulfill their duties is kind of shameful. and then a senior trying to share their burden with not even a co-senior or anything or an iterator from another group, but with an iterator from their own group? even if they’re good friends ?? i jst feel like that wouldn’t really be accepted . at all. does anyone see my vision
