They're playing a well-known party game, sure. They're bartenders at a roadhouse, so this is an everyday thing for them, maybe, but oh oh oh.

Ellen is maybe like, "We'll do shots and see how drunk he gets. Who knows? Maybe it'll make him handsy."

ELLEN: All right, Big Boy. Let's go.

Now, it's true. Ellen is flirty and, like many of the prickly, defensive characters, deals professionally with innuendo.

But something tells me this isn't a game Ellen would play with Dean or Sam.

And Cas mimics Ellen, holding his pinky out, upending the glasses, and holding intense, challenging eye contact.

Now don't get me wrong, I love the wholesome idea of Bowser being protective over Luigi (or getting jealous if someone jokingly messes and/or flirts with Luigi), but wouldn’t it also be both funny and kind of adorable if Luigi's the more protective/jealous one between him and his 7-foot tall dragon-turtle boyfriend?

Anyone else think it's weird that only like half the ghosts in bbc ghosts have spooky powers? Like okay I get it, and I know they don't need to have powers, and this isn't really a criticism, I just think it'd be... neat, y'know?

Honestly tbh it's one of the few things I almost prefer about the cbs version - I like how they expand the lore and give almost all the ghosts powers, it makes things interesting. Trevor and Julian can move things a bit, Thor and Robin can fiddle with the electricity, Mary smells like smoke, Flower gets you high, Fanny can be seen in photos, Isaac smells like dysentery, Alberta can be heard singing, Hetty's husband makes you horny, and Rebecca Wisocky has implied Hetty has a power different to the one the other ghosts thought she had (sending people to hell), so there seems to be an expectation that each ghost in the US version has a power/ability even though not all of em have been revealed yet (i.e. Sasappis, Pete, Crash, and ofc Hetty). And it's the expectation of powers that makes me think it'll be all of them having one as the show goes on. Only 3 of the core cast of 8 ghosts (not including Crash, he's even less relevant than my guy Humphrey) do not have CONFIRMED supernatural abilities. Compared to BBC Ghosts, it's definitely a bit different.

I'm reminded by what Nigel said about Isaac's power - that he still has an effect on the living world from beyond the grave. So it kinda saddens me more than anything that the other 5 ghosts don't have anything like that, yk?

I just-- wouldn't it be cool, and hear me out, if the other British ghosts could do something in that way? Like okay I think it was kingofthefrog's Ghost Swap AU (it's on ao3 and plot bunnies on tumblr) suggested that Kitty can be heard with a spirit box? That's genius. Kinda like Alberta's thing where her singing can be heard and Alexa hears her. I'm not a very creative person, but what if the other ghosts are walked through and it makes the living person feel a certain way or they have an unusual reaction? For example, Kitty walks through someone and they get the giggles and/or dance fever, or it's Thomas and they're suddenly depressed and/or romantic and/or Scottish, or it's Captain and they get butterflies in their stomach/they get all lovesick or their heart starts hammering and/or they're really anxious or get the sudden urge to listen to Kylie Minogue, or it's Humphrey and their neck hurts real bad and the Marseilleise is stuck in their head. Some of those I'm kinda joking but I just think it'd be neat, okay?

Let them have some nifty and/or stupid ghosts powers pls it would be so awesome it would be so cool etc etc

so… in the additional media of stranger things (specifically the comics i’m mentioning), it was initially brenner’s idea/plan to kill off the other test subjects because they weren’t performing as well as eleven was. it was his best solution because that way, all the resources, time, and money could instead be placed only to her. and i just…. sure henry is a fine character and the massacre makes a lot of sense to me, but i think i am once again gonna change up my canon to actually fit this potential narrative instead.

i genuinely think the comic canon of the lab and brenner is far more intriguing than the show. everything with 9/9.5, ricky, and francine. eleven being the only one who grew up completely in the lab. those other kids were either volunteers, well into their teens, or had some semblance of a home life. eleven was the only one practically moulded from the womb. and they all had such a range of interesting powers. i firmly stand with the idea that jane is the only one who can contact the void.

brenner’s entire point of view on the lab subjects changed the second he found out terry was pregnant. he discovered he could steal this baby and make her his own. there would be no convincing the child because it’s all she would have ever known. because of this, i would not put it past a man like brenner to kill the other subjects for the sake of the “greater good” in this case, eleven.

eleven’s gifts just continue thriving beyond his wildest expectations. brenner would never dare assume that having moulded her from the womb, she would still be able to grow into her own person, her own mind, and one day be able to see him for exactly who he was.

back before season four aired, it was obvious there were other test subjects because jane was 011. so there were at least ten kids before her. but i always liked the idea/assumed that she was the last experiment because she was the most successful. that they didn’t need anyone after her because she was fulfilling everything they set out for her to do. with flying colours.

i just think the whole rainbow room idea, pitting the kids against each other thing… been there, done that. boring and predictable. i think at this point my portrayal of her time in hawkins lab really stems from the complete isolation she endured. where having the rainbow room, although eleven was obviously the most isolated out of the kids, brings that sense of community and sister/brotherhood. albeit extremely warped and toxic. knowing that she wasn’t alone in that experience just. doesn’t sit well with me. i think it’s important to note that she was alone, physically and mentally. which is why kali is also so important to her growth. i thought a lot of the flashbacks of her time in the lab during season four was really boring, repetitive, and just very predictable. although peter becoming vecna was a surprise to me, and was a nice little twist, the idea of her having an ally on the inside was really interesting.

maybe they did get as far as they do in canon, peter ballad was telling the truth about everything, about some of the workers there being prisoners like him, and he really wanted to get her out and to safety. but before they can escape through the pipes, they’re caught. peter is shot on the spot, and eleven is put into the isolation room for a few days as punishment. in this timeline, henry would be vecna, but henry would not be peter ballad.

when eleven turned seven, and was already showing extreme promise, where the other children were average at best, brenner had the eight children killed. kali had already escaped. this was the main cause for peter to gain eleven’s trust and try to get her out. because if brenner could murder his “children” in cold blood, there’s no way eleven was safe even in spite of her power.

when eleven is allowed out of the isolation room, her testing becomes more rigorous in attempt to distance and make her forget about what she attempted to do with peter. brenner begins gaslighting her, saying that there was never a peter, that she must have been dreaming. eleven does ask “papa” about “mama”, given peter told her of the day terry broke in the lab, but brenner is convincing enough to make eleven believe it was all in her head. say she is around eight years old, meaning the same timeline of season fours canon flashbacks.

i still do wanna keep the henry creel canon, and keep him as 001. brenner didn’t have him killed alongside the other test subjects, because who knows, one day he could become an even better asset than 011. brenner definitely wants to be able to control henry, but keeps the chip in him because, for the moment, doesn’t know how. killing him would be too big of a loss.

when eleven is ten years old, henry’s concealed powers break free and he manages to get the chip out himself, and unleashes hell onto hawkins lab. he almost kills brenner by snapping his bones, but eleven manages to stop him. her extreme abilities are unleashed, and she sends henry to the upside down. she does fall into a coma due to the extremity of the situation, but she does not forget what happened. brenner believes she’s the perfect weapon as she stepped in to save him without a second thought, was able to defeat henry, and opened a door to something he never thought possible. eleven is rewarded for her efforts. although she remembers the entire battle / confrontation, her memories regarding the portal are very hazy.

brenner decides not to focus on the portal straight away, instead gets her training harder and harder to see what else she can accomplish. also loved the idea of brenner sending her into the void to “look for him” so that will definitely be kept.

by the time she escapes and season one begins, her knowledge of the upside down is basically what we see in canon. because she passed out the moment after she sent henry away, she was once again gaslighted into believing she merely threw him through the glass and killed him. for two years she believed this, until making contact with the demogorgan, and those memories return completely.

due to her saving brenner’s life, (it was pure instinct. she happened to be there. saw her “papa” hurt and knew she had to make him better.) brenner constantly thanks her. but in a very condescending way. tells her: “you saved me so i can continue saving you.” aka, harness your abilities and see what else i can achieve from you. despite the fact that she saved his life, these words and phrases make her feel indebted to him. that she owes him something further.

i don't realistically see her thriving with her speech improvement until she's well into her twenties at least. her slowed development, sensory and social deprivation causes a serious delay in language. surrounded by other children she would have overheard conversations, some would have spoken to her. her conveniently forgetting her upbringing pre the battle with henry just isn't good enough for me anymore. it makes more sense for her to have been raised alone.

it also helps indicate why she gravitated towards the boys when they found her in the woods. they would have been the first people her age she ever remembered seeing. as far as she knew, during the lab there was no one like her. everyone was much older, they were adults-- although she stayed with benny, i'm not sure if she would have stuck around very long. where she followed the boys home without thought.

also it's important to note that after time, jane does understand that peter ballad was a real person, and was truly the first person (aside from terry) who wanted the best for her. when she remembers him, knows that brenner was lying, she deals with immense guilt regarding his death. he was shot right in front of her eyes, because he was trying to help her. this is another catalyst as to why after season two, jane never refers to brenner as papa. she does not give him that sort of credit.

So about the season 4 finale shenanigans, where rg and the cast had no idea it was coming, so the rest of the cast was texting rg like “ARE YOU LEAVING THE SHOW???” and he was going “NO, IDK WHAT’S GOING ON EITHER!!!” and him texting Tim asking if he was being fired. And then we got Tim saying that Eddie was too pretty to die. I just told my homophobic mother all of this. Her response? She asked me if Tim was gay😭😭

re: episode 6 and who Grover is going to say is the traitor

Anyone else have a fear in the back of their mind that they're going to drop the Luke bomb early? Everyone, those who have criticisms with the show and those who love the show are talking about pacing pacing pacing. So would this be part of that pacing we're talking about? Moving up vital parts or wiping them away completely for the sake of pacing?

what that scene at the end of episode 5 has given me is one horrifying thought about what Grover found out, or what he thinks he found out.

I suspect (and hope) that Grover will think that Clarisse is the lightning thief which, okay. that's fine, (actually more than fine, it might be the first change that I really, really like.) It moves up some other conversations/thoughts; pretty sure I remember that Percy suspects that she's the lightning thief after they find out Ares planted the bolt on them in Denver. It definitely plays on the clear rivalry between he and Clarisse that we've established from the start. I'm excited for all the implications it could mean. Does Percy finish his quest angry at her? She hones in on him at camp, messing with him, telling everyone, and trying to show that he's not strong enough; and then frames him to solidify her effort to get rid of him? Does he go back to camp guns blazing at Clarisse, telling everyone she's the traitor?

That all said, that's the best case scenario. Grover saying that anyone else is the traitor/lightning thief might be a let down now that I've gotten excited over this. And yes, it's highly doubtful that he's going to say that its Luke, but on the off chance that this happens, can you imagine how it's going to play out the following two episodes? (Like, truly why the f is Hermes at the Lotus Hotel anyways?)

My problem with it is because Annabeth and Luke's relationship is not the same in the show as it is in the book. It doesn't feel as strong or as loyal. Annabeth is so, so adamant that Luke can be saved. It's been a while but I think she stays that way until she's taken in ttc. It's a big point of contention between Annabeth and Percy, I remember there being a point when they refused to talk about Luke together because they breakout into fighting even. And even then she watches him fall from a cliff in ttc she is able to keep hope that he's still alive.

In the show we have yet to see them have an interaction. We know they know each other well, Annabeth tells Percy that he was the one who was friendly with her while they traveled to Camp-- Thalia being more standoffish. And Luke goes far enough to call her his sister! but we never see the proof behind that. There's no scene of them talking, I don't even know if they talk about Capture the Flag on screen. And I know this sounds silly but Annabeth isn't shown to have the same girlhood crush she has on Luke in the book. If it exists, we don't know yet. Silly as the crush is those things make you blind to failures and mistakes. It's one of the main reasons why Percy believes Annabeth keeps a soft spot for Luke.

I have a feeling that if Grover dropped the Luke bomb that his only defender would be Percy. That's the only relationship we've taken with us from Camp. With the differences they've made with Annabeth's character, there's no way she'd defend Luke after hearing that. Her show personality is too honest and distrusting; she'd probably hear that, play it over in her mind and be like, "Okay yeah makes sense." without explaining her reasoning as to why she came to that conclusion. And there's nothing that we have to back up anything different other than Luke's offhanded comment that "Annabeth's my sister." in episode 2.

And there you go, the surprise of who the real traitor is ruined two episodes from the end. I can't even guess how that plays out from there? Do Annabeth and Percy have continual disagreements about it? Are we shown more proof that lends a hand to evidence for or against Luke being a traitor? idk, can't stop thinking about how this is going to play out. They took the time to change where Grover was during the waterpark scene and took away his part in it, they better make it worth it, you know?

as blamore was not quite sure how to take this information, all it did was hum in response to this at first. i mean... it had guessed that something was going on with regulus, as he definitely did not look like he did now when he last saw him; what with regulus's almost centaur-like body with hooves and a tail at the end of his body. but the fact that the other was a shapeshifter was still a bit surprising to blamore, albeit for only a short amount of time. it was a well-known fact that there were aliens on this earth and blamore itself had turned into something other than human after all. he was just kind of intrigued, but also confused, that regulus had been able to manage to replicate the look of a human down to the finest little details.

it would have to ask regulus about how exactly his transformation into a human worked or it would bother it to no end. blamore let go of the wooden structure it had laid it's partially lichen covered hands on, then, as it took a few steps closer to regulus — just barely flicking the very end of his own tail out of curiosity, ❝ mm, i thought that the bone structure of your current face was eerily similar to a human's i met some time ago; one that i had saved. that was you, correct? the man whom i encountered that was injured with the dark hair and dark eyes? ❞ blamore was now just an arm's reach away from regulus, as he now appeared to be sizing regulus up. what was he doing here of all places in his garden?

[Summary: night has finally come, and with it Peni's opportunity]

Peni feels like she’s been waiting an age for night.

Three weeks for the sun to set, and finally the cold dark’s come rushing in like demanding water released from a dam. There’s no time to appreciate the darkness she’s sorely missed, to bask in how her eyes don’t ache for the first time in weeks. Unlike daylight, night will not last, and who knows when the next will come along.

Under the guise of a camping trip, they were at least able to get inside the desert’s edges, cutting their travel time down by at least half. Better than it could have been – there were murmurs of even that being banned. As it is, star gazing had remained an allowed activity, and the small flurry of people who’d had the same idea had provided the perfect cover. For the distant guards, nothing should look out of place. A scattering of camps, people out to watch the stars before they disappear to sunlight again. They won’t notice one camp is silent; under the cover of darkness, anyone can be invisible. For a moment; for the whole night.

It's still a bit of a hike to the site. No other will do: it’s not just the night that’s important, it’s the place, one of the last of its kind. A single oasis, barren of the usual requirements but stuffed to the brim with everything else Peni will need.

The air bites at her cheeks. Deserts get awfully cold at night, a fact she’d almost forgotten, and the further she heads in, the colder it’ll get. She grits her teeth, plants her steps firm, curls her fingers around the straps of her pack, and sucks in a deep breath. She’ll complain about the chill afterwards.

It’s in silence that she and the others trek, but when they finally come across the place, their purposefully weak torches shining out across the ground, one of her companions can’t help but let out a soft sound. Amazement, joy, maybe both mixed. Peni checks her watch – they’ve made good time. There’s still half of the time left until the sun’s due to rise.

The others dump their packs at the edges, already clawing for the supplies. They’re careful not to step past the faint silvery line tracing out a circle in the sand, eyes darting down with every step. Peni keeps her pack on, approaches the line. Like a slug’s trail emblazoned in the cold hard sand – are there rocks close to the desert’s surface, pressing up against the soles of her boots? The toes hover a few centimetres from the edge; if there was sunlight, her shadow would be plunged onto the other side. A dark inky abyss, the mirror for the current sky.

There aren’t many stars on show tonight. Peni thinks those who came for genuine star gazing are going to be rather disappointed.

Efficiently, the least amount of time burned, the others finish their set up. The cords wrapping around the edge of the circle, one end plugged into the bulky power-boxes. They’re still not risking brighter lights, so the green on lights of the power-boxes wink out like stars in the darkness. A scattering constellation, only a foot off the ground.

The other ends are thrown into the circle, the metal clips barely catching the torchlight.

It’s time, then. Peni doesn’t hesitate, doesn’t waste a moment of the precious night sky. She takes the step over the silverly boundary, into the place the others won’t touch. Into the circle.

Her boots hit where her shadow would have; her pack slings to the ground so she can pull out the Channel, slipping the heavy thing around her neck. Then it’s just a simple matter of carefully clipping the metal ends to the exposed wiring, completing the circuit.

The Channel lets out a faint high pitched hum, a gentle heat beginning as its battery begins to charge up. Peni takes her place in the centre of the circle; looks around to the others, all ready to hit the switches. A countdown – she leads, voice a bare whisper, still keeping quiet in case of discovery. They’re far enough in that no one should be able to disturb them in the crucial parts. By the time the guards gather themselves and charge in, it’ll be far too late – the only time to stop this would have been back at the camps. Still, she whispers. Maybe to preserve the moment. Maybe because keeping from detection is the only habit she truly knows.

At count five, she glances up at the sky. Five spare seconds, finally something to fill with a moment’s appreciation for the dark. Midnight blue-black, like the darkest bruises, like the prefect blanket. Everything looks different in the dark. Hooded shadows, cool airs. If daylight exposes everything, then it’s under the night sky where secret can be held. Where any thought seems possible – it’d been the only possible time to do this. To dream of a difference.

The Channel’s hum becomes more demanding, higher, ear-splitting. Peni spreads her arms wide, takes a breath. Steading. Infusing oxygen through her veins.

At count one, the last letter leaving her mouth, five switches are flicked on.

And the night sky’s lit with a far different sun.
