Something about the way Ariel’s siren song saved Eric.
Something about the way Eric fell in love with her siren song first.
Something about the way that when Ariel gave up her song, Eric was finally given the chance to love her for her.
(And boy, did he fall hard.)
Something about the way that Eric’s love was finally made whole when Ariel herself became whole.
Something about the way Ariel was able to love him with her whole self after reconciling with her past with her father.

sorry i need to expel the demon that is comicsverse thoughts from my head w a weirdly structured ramble ive been trying to articulate fdsjkfhkjds
-> miguel is initially alienated from his body post transformation - not just due to the nonconsensual nature of being spidered - but because he views the transformation as alienating him from a claim to humanity
-> however, the identity of spiderman and the ideals that represents seems to be in big part the means by which miguel reconciles himself to the nature of his physical body. not only do his abilities become naturalised to his understanding of himself as Miguel (rather than being thought of as alien) but they enable spiderman to be that force for good and change that miguel so desperately wants to see in himself
-> but miguel simultaneously depersonalises himself from his spiderman identity. he thinks of it as the better half of himself, as something almost ephemeral, that he doesn't quite have a claim to or is able to reconcile completely to Miguel The Human Being and all his associated baggage
-> and that's an interesting internal conflict to have when he simultaneously can never escape the lived reality of his own body and where it diverges from those around him, even as that lived reality eventually becomes something he can reconcile himself to far more easily
-> and what overhangs across this entire discussion is context of (and thus how Miguel would be influenced by) Nueva York's hypercapitalist society and thus the understanding and conception of your physical body in that lens. how much or little your body is owed by you yourself. the access you are told must be permitted to it by others/corporations. how the physical body is policed and politicised. the commodification of the body in the most literal sense via Vulture's cannibalism.

Caught up on DW and I will say
1. I am so excited to see Ncuti’s doctor the little we saw was a great taster, theres so much potential for this fresh start.
2. There’s something really wrong with the tension and pacing of these episodes. In this last one there was so much telling, not showing; huge emphasis on the severity of how terrible everything was in that last episode without actually creating any sense of that except the characters proclaiming how bad it all was.
For example: The doctor had that sudden serious rant about how humans are capable of doing terrible things all by themselves, a great point except we had barely seen more than selfishness, rudeness, and arrogance. Hardly a demonstration of human evil. Donna stated that this was the most crazy logic-defying thing she’d ever seen… after some crazy maze funfair corridors (at least put it after the living puppet scene!). The doctor suddenly declaring that he might not be able to save Donna this time before any real evidence that this was the worst situation they’d ever been in - a powerful, moving moment! And then she was never in an unusual amount of danger and he saved them all with a ball game.
I just wish they’d used the opportunity of three episode special to do a 3-parter, and use the time to actually build up the tension that never really materialised.

Henlo! Long time no post TvT!!!
Before all else, I would like to say that NOPE! I haven’t lost interest in bokuaka or haikyuu (your gonna have to pry that series from my hands) and NOPE! I don’t plan on dropping this blog anytime soon so rest assured <33!
Would just like to apologize for my inactivity again :’DD, mainly have been busy with life stuff and constantly getting tired really drains me from writing or posting even though I’d love to.
Aside from that, I’ve been revisiting/getting into new pieces of media like Bungou Stray dogs and my current hyperfixation: Trigun <33
With that would just like to say that I’ll still be posting albeit inconsistently, most likely will be alive again once the haikyu movie drops (or not cause what if no Bokuaka :’DD), but will still post stuff all the same!
Just know that my blog will always be here as a safe place to look at bokuaka fluff content and a serotonin boost when you need it
Hope everyone is doing alright and stay safe!
(oh and also watch Trigun Stampede for the sweetest boi Vash, like look at him:
how can you not love him? anyways thank you <33!)

yesterday i was at a concert and someone puked on my winter parka in the middle of the show. didn't even tell me or anything, just let me find out by putting my hand directly in the puddle that collected in my hood while i was leaving the venue.
now for the fun part of the story: the concert was my city's symphony orchestra. in the middle of the elgar cello concerto someone was wasted enough to puke a hot dog onto the row in front of them.

i didn't watch all of the first season of ossan's love and none of the movie etc but i really enjoy the silliness they managed to keep despite haruta and maki thriving as a couple.
because kiku-sama and izumi are so over the top.
we get izumi wounded, lying on the apartments steps twice and it is treated as making in universe sense that this retired security police officer just goes out on his mission of vengeance. and they are also in a complicated romantic relationship. and tanaka kei gets to play the ex.
normally the over-the-topness in this show is more on the whimsical side, besides kurosawa's health struggle getting treated quite seriously, but with izumi and kiku-sama the drama is so over the top it really gets me every time.
