Tumblr media
I dislike using rigidbodies to move my objects because physics interactions can sometimes go ham and while that can be very amusing, I prefer things to be predictable. So for moving arrows in this game I handled the movement math myself via coroutine. Let's take a look-see, shall we? :3
Tumblr media
The goal of this coroutine is to move its symbol object in an arcing motion from its initial position, moving it upward and to either the right or left. Then it will fall downward. Rather than having each symbol object run this coroutine from an attached script, I am using a central script (my GameManager) to apply this movement to a given object, so the first thing I do is make sure the symbol still exists before proceeding with the coroutine:
Tumblr media
If we find that our symbol has been destroyed, we exit the coroutine with "yield break". You wouldn't need this check if the script is running this movement on its own object, as coroutines are ended upon an object's destruction.
There are a bunch of variables we'll define within our coroutine to calculate our desired motion; we'll start by defining an arcDuration:
Tumblr media
This determines how long the object will take to move in the arc shape. A shorter duration results in faster movement. Using a random amount between a min and max duration creates some variance in how fast different symbol objects will move. I have my minArcDuration set to 1 and maxArcDuration set to 2.5 for quick bouncy movements.
Tumblr media
These variables referencing the outermost bounds of the camera's view will be used to ensure that symbols remain within the visible area of the camera at all times. I'm not using a topBound because I'm fine with symbols possibly going off the top of the screen, but I use a maxArcHeight variable that is set low enough that they never do.
Tumblr media
For even more spawn variability, we add a little randomness to our starting point. My spawnPointVariance is set very low at 0.3; my initial symbol spawn position is low on the screen, and due to how the rest of this coroutine works, it's important that the symbols are never allowed to spawn below the bottomBound or else they will be instantly deleted (and result in a miss!)
Tumblr media
The height here is, of course, how far up the symbol will travel, and the distance refers to how far it will move to the left or right. We calculate the peak of the arc by adding our distance and height to the x and y values of our starting position. Randomizing between negative and positive distance values for our x position adds another layer of variability which includes the possibility of moving either left or right, even though our minArcDistance and maxArcDistance are both set to positive values for clarity (mine are set to 1 and 6).
Tumblr media
This is the part of the code that decides upon our symbol's speed by calculating the distance it has to cover from its start to its peak. By dividing our horizontalDistance by our arcDuration (distance divided by time), we calculate how fast the symbol needs to move to cover the entire distance in the given duration. Mathf.Abs is used to ensure that horizontalDistance is always positive, lest we get a negative value that causes us to move in the opposite of the intended direction.
Tumblr media
We'll also want a speed variable for when the arcing motion ends and the symbol starts falling, that's where downwardSpeed comes in. In earlier versions of this function, I used downwardSpeed alone to transform the object's position, but I've since refined the logic to take the current horizontalSpeed into account for more consistent motion; we'll see that later. (Also you can see I've been tweaking that arbitrary range a bit... the fall speed was brutal during those mass waves ;o;)
Tumblr media
Here we create an elapsedTime variable starting at 0. In our while loop, we will use this variable to count how much time has passed, and if it becomes greater than or equal to arcDuration, we'll change isFalling to true and begin moving down.
We create a Vector3 moveDirection which gives the vector pointing from the startPosition to the peakPosition, and then turn it into Vector3 horizontalDirection, which retains only the X-axis direction. Both values are normalized to ensure consistency. Without normalization, the magnitude (or distance) of the vector would vary depending on the distance between the start and peak positions, which could result in inconsistent speed. Normalization caps the magnitude at 1, meaning the vector represents just the direction, not the distance, allowing for consistent speed calculation later.
Tumblr media
Here's how we start our while loop: as long as our symbol object is not null and the game says we canMove, we say yield return null, which will instruct our loop to occur every frame. If either the symbol becomes null or canMove becomes false, the while loop will end and so will the coroutine - for this reason, I only set canMove false when the game ends and the symbols will never have to resume movement, rather than in cases where I want them to pause movement and resume later, such as when a player pauses the game or during level-up periods. For the latter I use an isLevelingUp bool in my while loop that waits until that bool is false before proceeding (yield return new WaitUntil(() => !isLevelingUp)), and for the former I actually change the game Time.timeScale to 0, which is not typically recommend but fuck it we doin it live, because I don't have a mechanism for resuming this function with appropriate variables if it is stopped. It could surely be done if you just store the local variables somehow.
Tumblr media
This is the first part of our movement logic that we put in the while loop; remember we already set isFalling false, so this part will proceed with the rising motion.
Tumblr media
We count our elapsedTime here by adding Time.deltaTime, a variable which represents the time in seconds that has passed since the last frame, ensuring that time calculation is frame-rate independent. Do NOT use Time.time in cases like this unless you want your users with varying computer specs to all have different experiences with your game for some insane, villainous reason
The variable 't' is looking at the elapsedTime divided by arcDuration, a ratio that tells us how far along we are in the arc movement. If elapsedTime equals arcDuration, this ratio would be 1, meaning the arc is complete. We use Mathf.Clamp01 to clamp this value between 0 and 1, ensuring that it won't ever go higher than 1, so that we can use it to calculate our desired arcPosition and be sure it never exceeds a certain point due to frame lag or some such. If 't' is allowed to exceed 1, the arcPos calculation could possibly go beyond the intended peakPos. We are going for predictable motion, so this is no good
Tumblr media
We define our Vector3 arcPos with Vector3.Lerp, short for "Linear Interpolation", a function for calculating smooth transition between two points overtime. Ours takes our startPos and peakPos and moves our symbol between the two values according to the value of 't' which is incrementing every frame with Time.deltaTime. As 't' progresses from 0 to 1, Vector3.Lerp interpolates linearly between startPos and peakPos, so when 't' is 0, arcPos is exactly at startPos. When 't' is 1, arcPos reaches peakPos. For values of 't' between 0 and 1, arcPos is smoothly positioned between these two points. Very useful function, I be lerping for days
Then we alter the y coordinate of our arcPos by adding a calculation meant to create smooth, curved arc shape on the y axis, giving our object its rounded, bouncy trajectory. Without this calculation, you'll see your symbols rising and falling sharply without any of that rounded motion. This uses some functions I am not as familiar with and an explanation of the math involved is beyond my potato brain, but here's a chatgpt explanation of how it works:
Mathf.Sin(t * Mathf.PI): This calculates a sinusoidal wave based on the value of t. Mathf.PI represents half of a full circle in radians (180 degrees), creating a smooth curve. At t = 0, Mathf.Sin(0 * Mathf.PI) is 0, so there’s no vertical displacement. At t = 0.5, Mathf.Sin(0.5 * Mathf.PI) is 1, reaching the maximum vertical displacement (the peak height of the arc). At t = 1, Mathf.Sin(1 * Mathf.PI) returns to 0, completing the arc with no vertical displacement. This scales the vertical displacement to ensure the arc reaches the desired height. If height is 10, then at the peak, the symbol moves 10 units up.
Tumblr media
With those positions calculated, we can calculate the "newX" variable which represents where we want our symbol to appear along the x axis. It adds the horizontal movement to the current x coordinate, adjusted for the time passed since the last frame.
We use Mathf.Clamp to ensure our newX value doesn't exceed either the left or right bounds of the screen. This function limits the given value to be between min and max value.
Tumblr media
Finally we tell our loop to actually reposition the symbol object by creating a new Vector3 out of newX, arcPos.y, and using our symbol's own z coordinate. That last bit is important to ensure your sprite visibility/hierarchy doesn't go out of whack! If I used arcPos.z there instead, for example, it's likely my sprites would no longer be visible to my camera. The z position the symbol spawned at is the z position I want it to retain. Your needs may vary.
Tumblr media
This part tells us our arcDuration should end, so we set isFalling to true, which will cause the secondary logic in our while loop to trigger:
Tumblr media
Previously, objects retained their x position and only had negative downwardSpeed applied to their y position, but I didn't like that behaviour as it looked a little wonky (symbols would reach their arc peak and then suddenly stop and drop in a straight line downward).
Tumblr media
By creating a new Vector3 fallDirection that retains the horizontalDirection and horizontalSpeed from the arc phase, we're able to apply smooth downward motion to the symbol that continues to the left or right.
Just below that, we once again clamp the symbol's x position to the left and right screen bounds so the symbols can't travel offscreen:
Tumblr media
The loop would continue causing the symbols to fall forever if we didn't have this check:
Tumblr media
which triggers some project specific logic and destroys the symbol, then exits the coroutine with "yield break". Although the coroutine already exits when the symbol becomes null, which it will see is the case in the next frame as we destroyed the symbol here, adding an explicit yield break is an added layer of security to ensure predictability. Once again, not super necessary if you decide to run this code from the moving object itself, but just be sure you move your Destroy() request to the bottom of any logic in that case, as nothing after that point would be able to trigger if you destroy the object which is running the coroutine!
and that's all folks. If this helps you make something, show me!
HEY, did you really make it all the way to the end of this post?! ilu :3 Do let me know if this kind of gratuitous code breakdown interests you and I will summon motivation to make more such posts. I personally like to see how the sausage is made so I hoped someone might find it neat. If ya got any questions I am happy to try and answer, the ol' inbox is always open.

I don't want to burst any bubbles here, but Unity isn't as popular amongst AAA developers as some might think. A lot of the times, larger studios develop their own proprietary engines that are only used in their own studios - I doubt Nintendo has ever used any other engines, at least for their flagship IPs. Unity is largely used by smaller studios and indie developers, so they're unfortunately suffering the brunt of these shitty, greedy changes. So there might not be as much heat coming down as you might have thought.
BUT
There is still a chance that they'll draw the ire of at least the Pokemon Company since apparently Pokemon GO runs on Unity. And there is also another billion dollar IP that DOES actually use Unity from a large studio that could have the resources to bring down a lawsuit if they so desired:
Hoyoverse's Genshin Impact.
Actually, this Unity mess makes sense when you learn that they've got the guy behind such brilliant ideas as "we should charge players per bullet in fps games" and "all together the Sims 4 expansion packs cost over $800" running the goddamn company.

Caffeine, chemistry and Caleb I
(Law student POV pt. 1)
Synopsis: The café was supposed to be just another coffee shop. For a law student who enjoys her morning coffee and a shy newbie still learning the ropes, it should have been nothing more than part of the daily routine… But then there’s Caleb.
Details: 1500ish words of my barista Caleb AU doodle that’s been sitting in the drafts forever. @drowsyapple asked so nicely for a continuation, so here it is—with added law student chaos. Non MC! Reader law student. Expect flirting, hot af barista Caleb, and banter with the barista newbie. You’re in this caffeine-fueled mess together.
Parts: part 2 (law student), part 3, part 4, part 5, part 6, part 7, part 8
Objection | Pt. 1 (pilot, law student)
Tumblr media
You’re back.
You could lie. Say it’s because the café is closest to your lecture hall. Say the lighting is good for studying. Say the coffee is better here.
You could say any of those things.
But none of them would explain the lip gloss.
Caleb’s already behind the counter, sleeves rolled, forearms on full display like a public health hazard. He’s laughing at something the newbie said, head tilted back, grin sharp and lazy. The newbie glances up and sees you first. Their eyes narrow, just a little.
You give them a smile—the kind you usually save for opposing counsel in mock trials.
They give you one right back. Touché.
Caleb turns then, and his gaze lands on you like it always does—too direct, too calm, like it’s normal to make eye contact with someone and feel it somewhere under your ribs.
“Morning,” he says, all slow warmth and low charm. He leans his weight onto one hip, arms crossed—forearms flexed just slightly—and smiles like he knows he’s pretty.
Which, okay. Maybe he does.
Then: “Golden Girl, right?”
Golden.
Girl.
You open your mouth to correct him. You really do. But he’s already moving, scribbling it onto the cup in his quick, looping scrawl. And the thing is?
You kind of like it.
“Same drink?” he asks, glancing up through his lashes.
You nod. Mutely. Like an idiot.
The newbie is watching the whole thing with barely concealed amusement. You think they might be filing this under Exhibit A: How to Watch a Law Student Mentally Detonate Over a Latte.
Caleb makes your drink himself this time. No tutorials today. Just him, hands confident and sure, moving with that unbothered rhythm that makes everything look effortless. It should not be that compelling to watch someone tamp espresso. And yet.
He does that thing where he wipes his hands on a towel, then tucks it into the waistband of his apron.
You remember reading a case last semester where someone was arrested for intent to cause a disturbance. You’re starting to think that could apply here.
The cup hits the counter with a soft thud. He slides it toward you, fingers brushing the lid, like he’s tucking it in for a nap.
“Here you go,” he says. “Try not to fall in love.”
Your heart trips over itself.
You laugh, but it’s too breathy, too real. “You always this confident?”
He shrugs, smile tilting. “I just know my coffee’s good.”
You take the drink. Your hand brushes his. Barely. Enough.
“Thanks,” you say, trying to sound unaffected. Cool. Collected. The kind of girl who doesn’t lie awake wondering what a man’s voice would sound like against her throat.
As you turn to go, the newbie calls after you.
“See you later, Golden Girl.”
Their tone is knowing. Teasing.
And you don’t correct them either.
——————————————————————————
You’re surrounded by casebooks. Real law, real deadlines, real reasons to not be obsessing over a barista with a smile like a summer storm. You’re supposed to be outlining tort reform, but instead, you’re drafting legal arguments in your head.
Argument A: Caleb probably flirts with everyone.
Argument B: You’re not actually interested. You’re just… amused. Fascinated. Lightly affected.
Argument C: You are in control.
You write the words Golden Girl in the margin of your notes and immediately scratch them out like a crime scene.
By the time your second highlighter dries out and your coffee goes cold, you’ve convinced yourself the obsession is manageable. Contained. You just need one more look. A reminder that it’s not that deep.
So, naturally, you go back.
——————————————————————————
Caleb’s not there.
No crooked grin. No rolled sleeves. No towel tucked at his waist like a weapon. Just soft lighting and the newbie behind the counter, trying to act like they haven’t just caught you scanning the entire café in 0.6 seconds.
You just missed him,” they say, not even trying to hide the smile.
You try not to look disappointed. Fail. “Damn. Thought maybe I’d… grab another coffee.”
“You just got one this morning.”
“And you remembered that?” You raise an eyebrow.
They shrug. “I’m observant. It’s a survival tactic around him. I’m making you tea.”
That earns a smile. You step up, lean on the counter, and grab a glass of water from the little tap tower like you own the place. “Okay. Spill. What’s his deal?”
The newbie flushes. “He’s… nice.”
You wait.
They sigh. “And smart. Studying aviation.”
That catches you off guard. “Wait, really?”
“Yeah. Like, actual planes. Cockpit stuff. Not just ‘I like clouds.’”
You process that for a beat. Aviation. Of course. The steady hands. The calm under pressure. The low, precise way he talks. The whole I will literally rise above you all energy.
Disgusting.
“Figures,” you mutter. “Bet he flies with that same stupid smirk.”
The newbie chuckles. “Probably. And you’re not the only one with that theory, by the way.”
You shoot them a look.
They hold up their hands, sheepish. “I’m just saying… he’s the kind of guy who flirts without knowing he’s doing it. Or maybe he does know. But doesn’t care.”
“I can’t afford to spiral,” you say flatly. “I’m going to be a lawyer. I don’t have time for emotionally unavailable air pilots with coffee-scented wrists.”
The newbie raises an eyebrow. “…That’s oddly specific.”
They nudge the takeaway cup toward you with a slightly awkward motion—like they’re not used to the gesture yet. You accept it with steady hands, calm as ever, like this is just part of the ritual now.
“Just a hypothesis,” you say coolly, then pause. “Okay, maybe it’s a well-supported thesis. But I’m distinguishing the case.”
“The what?”
“In law, it means the precedent doesn’t apply. So yes, he’s hot. Yes, I am apparently immune to better judgment. But I’m not going to be that girl who tanks her grades over a guy who’s literally training to fly away.”
The newbie grins. “Bold of you to assume you’re not already that girl.”
You sip your drink, feeling mildly attacked.
“…Objection,” you say.
They nod. “Sustained.”
You roll your eyes but can’t help the smile. For a moment, the café feels warmer than usual—less like a trap, more like a study break. Maybe this was worth it. Even without Caleb.
You glance down at your cup. Not your usual—green tea this time. A quiet suggestion you didn’t argue with. It’s gone lukewarm while you were busy running legal arguments about a barista through your head.
“I should go,” you murmur, adjusting your bag. “Actual law to study. Not just the hot-barista kind.”
The newbie nods, wiping down the counter. “Good luck distinguishing the case.”
“Thanks. I’ll win on appeal.”
You laugh under your breath and push open the door—right as someone else pulls it from the other side.
You don’t see him until it’s too late.
There’s a tangle of motion, a sharp inhale, and then your green tea jolts sideways—right out of your hand—and then, somehow… doesn’t fall.
Because Caleb is right there.
He moves like a reflex—fast, clean, and absurdly smooth—one hand catching the cup mid-air, the other steadying your wrist. And just like that, the tea is back in your hands, lid intact, barely a drop spilled.
He grins. “Whoa. Careful, Golden Girl.”
Your heart is gone. It left your body. You’re not even mad about it.
“Are you—” Your voice catches. “Are you training to be a pilot or a superhero?”
He shrugs. “I’m well trained.” A pause. His grin deepens. “So… how’d you know I was studying aviation?”
You freeze.
He caught that.
You flick a quick glance toward the newbie behind the counter.
They are suddenly very busy. Wiping down the espresso machine like it holds state secrets. Not looking at you. Not acknowledging anything.
“Lucky guess,” you lie.
His eyes stay on you for a moment too long, like he’s filing that answer away. He lets go, but the contact clings, like your body hasn’t caught up
“Well,” he says, stepping aside to let you pass, “Guess I’ll have to be more careful what I say around lucky girls.”
But this time, you don’t just stand there.
You look him right in the eye, a smile tugging at your lips.
“Maybe you should just be careful around me.”
That gets him.
For a second, something flashes across his face—amused, intrigued, the tiniest bit caught off guard. But then he recovers, of course he does, smile curling wider like you just played your first real move on the board.
He leans in just a little, voice low.
“Oh, don’t worry,” he murmurs. “I’m always careful. Especially with turbulence.”
And then—the audacity—he winks, pivots, and walks away, disappearing behind the counter like he didn’t just drop a full-body shiver down your spine.
You’re left standing in the doorway, blinking, your tea miraculously upright and your sanity… less so.
——————————————————————————
Part 2
——————————————————————————
Writer’s note: I said I’d post old drafts. You thought I was joking. That’s on you. Yeah sooo… I kinda love writing the law student. It’s lowkey personal (mystery author strikes again), so I won’t overshare. The obsession element is very fun to play with. Okey then, thank you for reading 🫶🏻

this may be too much to ask but do you have a tut on how to draw turtles in the mm style?? (or just at all my ass is suffering. i need to draw tmnt but my brain doesnt know how :c)
Tumblr media
Sure ! I’ll try my best to explain (I made one after the first tottmnt trailer came out it’s outdated so I’m remaking it)
If you’re talking abt mm movie style , I don’t think I’m skillful on them enough to make an art tutorial 😭💔they’re hard for me to draw too
Info on keep reading :D !!
Tumblr media
- I take hundreds of screenshots + download promo art and a create collage of it , use it as a ref sheet. I study on the shapes , proportions , and style of each character.
Tumblr media
- Then I pick an image from the pile to see if it’s a good pose (if not, I find poses from other resources to draw) or expression I want to use as reference for my drawing
- then I start sketching , adding the sharp details . Clean up on lineart and color later
Other Notes :
- Tales of the TMNT artstyle uses sharp sketchy lines to give it that sketchbook artstyle
- In some frames from the show, Their eyes are pentagon shaped & pupils are not fully colored in. Mask tails have different styles too
- Each turtle not only have different headshapes , they have different plastron shapes too (these are fugly examples I accidentally deleted the OG layer of this and had to redo it LMAO)
Tumblr media
- Looking at Tales crew art also rlly helps! (There’s a lot of them on the #/talesofthetmnt tag on insta & twitter)
the Tales of the TMNT artstyle is easy to nail imo , it’s like more of a simpler version of the rise of the TMNT artstyle if that make sense ?? That’s how I personally feel lololol
If you never drawn TMNT before , just go slow on your art process , look at references, & take your time . Draw the characters in your own style first if you want :] just to feel more comfortable and less stress trying to replicate the iteration’s style . overall , have fun <3
I usually suckkk at these art tutorial stuff but hope this helps :D !!

Chapter 1: White Noise
"Every frequency of change begins as white noise—unfocused, uncertain, but full of potential."
Choi SeungHyuk a.k.a. VERSACHOI
The low hum of fluorescent lights buzzed overhead, blending seamlessly with the gentle static emanating from the studio monitors. In the hushed expanse of JYPE’s Division 1 Studio C, Aura sat cross-legged on a studio chair, her laptop balanced precariously on her knees. Every flicker on the screen and each subtle change in the soundboard’s readout made her pulse quicken—not from nerves, but from the pure exhilaration of creation. To her, the soundboard wasn’t just a collection of knobs and sliders; it was an extension of her very being. Her fingers moved with practiced precision, adjusting the EQ settings for a demo track as if engaged in a silent, intimate conversation with the music.
In this cocoon of technical wizardry and raw emotion, every detail mattered. The soft glow of the monitors, the tactile feedback of the buttons under her fingertips, and even the distant hum of the building beyond the studio walls created a unique atmosphere—one that Aura had dreamt of since her first encounter with sound engineering. Even as she lost herself in the labyrinth of frequencies and decibels, her mind could not escape the memory of countless hours spent poring over tutorials and experimenting with digital audio workstations. Here, in the heart of JYPE, that passion had found its most vibrant expression.
“Hey, little genius, how’s it coming?” Chan’s voice broke through the steady rhythm of her concentration—a blend of warmth and playful teasing that seemed to fill the space with its own kind of energy. Leaning casually against the doorframe with his arms crossed, Chan’s expression was one of relaxed authority. There was something undeniably comforting about the way he carried himself—a subtle reminder that, despite the pressures of the industry, he’d seen it all and still found room for a smile.
Aura didn’t immediately look up, her eyes locked on the shifting patterns of sound displayed on her screen. “If by ‘little genius,’ you mean ‘overworked intern trying not to mess up her first month,’ then yeah, it’s coming along,” she replied dryly, a small smile tugging at her lips as she continued her adjustments.
Chan chuckled softly, pushing himself off the doorframe and strolling over with an easy confidence. “I wouldn’t have let you near my session if I thought you’d mess up. Besides, you’ve got a good ear.” His tone was half-teasing, half-affirming—a subtle nod to the fact that despite the casual banter, he truly believed in her talent.
Finally, Aura’s gaze flicked upward, her eyes meeting his with a mixture of amusement and exasperation. “You say that like you didn’t make me sit through an entire two-hour lecture about ‘the importance of clean bass lines’ last week.” Her voice carried both a trace of mock indignation and a hint of gratitude, a balancing act she’d mastered in these high-pressure environments.
“Yeah, and you absorbed every word,” Chan shot back with a grin, his eyes crinkling at the corners as he spoke. “That’s why,” he says switching between English and Korean. “I’m trusting you with this.” The unspoken lesson was clear: in this world of razor-sharp technicality and musical innovation, learning came as much from critique as it did from praise.
Aura exhaled slowly, setting her laptop aside for a moment to gather her thoughts. “No pressure or anything,” she murmured, though the tremor in her voice betrayed a hidden mix of excitement and anxiety. Just as she was about to ask him about the reverb settings for the new track, the door to the studio creaked open once more—a sound that carried with it an electric charge of anticipation.
A voice, lower and slightly rougher than she remembered, filled the room. “Are you guys just gonna hoard the studio, or can I actually get to work?” The words hung in the air, charged with both familiarity and a hint of mischief.
Aura froze. Slowly, she turned toward the doorway, her heart pounding a frantic tattoo against her ribs.
There, framed by the soft light of the corridor, stood Seo Changbin. He carried a duffel bag over his shoulder, the casual way he slung it speaking of countless journeys and battles fought both in the studio and beyond. His presence was effortless yet commanding, as if he belonged to every space he entered without question. His hair, shorter than the photos that had circulated online, hinted at a transformation—a broader, stronger version of the man she’d once seen on stage. His sharp jawline and defined features were further sculpted by months, if not years, of relentless discipline, the kind that came with pushing both body and mind past their limits.
The dim glow overhead accentuated the subtle sheen of sweat along his temple, evidence of a day spent immersed in motion—training, recording, perfecting. Dressed in a fitted black hoodie that clung to his frame and joggers that hinted at the strength beneath, he exuded a quiet intensity. But it was his eyes that held Aura in place. Deep brown, unwavering, and edged with something unreadable—something that crackled like static in the air between them.
The gleam in his gaze was the same as the one she’d watched countless times in performance videos: sharp, confident, and undeniably magnetic. But standing here, close enough to hear the quiet breath he exhaled as he took in the room, it felt different. More personal. More real.
He was back.
In that instant, Aura’s carefully constructed world wavered. Here was someone whose return was as unpredictable as it was thrilling—and she was suddenly aware of every detail: the way his eyes scanned the room, the subtle tilt of his head, the hint of a smile playing at the edges of his lips. The studio, once a sanctuary of familiar sounds and rhythms, now pulsed with the promise of something new, something a little dangerous.
Chan broke the tension with a hearty grin as he moved forward, clasping Changbin’s shoulder in a gesture that spoke of deep camaraderie. “About time. I’ve been waiting for you to show up.” His voice, warm and inviting, bridged the gap between past and present, hinting at memories shared and challenges overcome.
Changbin’s laugh was low and knowing, a sound that carried the weight of experiences both harsh and hilarious. “Yeah, yeah. Military service is fun and all, but my home was calling me.” He dramatizes with a playful edge to his tone, yet beneath it lay the undeniable intensity of a man who thrived on every beat of the rhythm and every nuance of a perfect mix.
His gaze, however, wasn’t content to settle on Chan. It swept across the room and landed on Aura, his brows arching in subtle curiosity as if trying to decipher the layers of her presence. “You’re the new sound engineer, right? Aura?” His tone was light, but the question carried an undercurrent of challenge—a silent invitation to prove herself.
Aura blinked, caught off guard by his casually direct approach. She quickly uncrossed her legs, now sitting stiffly. “Uh, yes. I’m the new engineer intern, Aura,” she replied, her voice a mixture of formal caution and guarded pride. The acknowledgment felt both like a small victory and an unspoken test of her mettle.
“You don’t need to speak so formally.” Changbin’s smirk widened, a spark of mischief igniting in his eyes. “Chan’s been bragging about you. Said you’re some kind of prodigy.” There was a teasing lilt to his words, as if he was sizing her up for both her technical abilities and the fire that burned quietly within her.
She shot Chan a glare, and he simply shrugged in response. “I said you had potential,” he repeated, a note of both humor and earnestness in his tone. It wasn’t just idle chatter; it was a passing of the torch—a signal that in this high-pressure, high-stakes environment, talent wasn’t just recognized; it was celebrated.
“Mmhm, sure,” Changbin teased further, dropping his bag onto a nearby couch with an air of casual nonchalance. “Guess I’ll have to see for myself.” His eyes twinkled with both challenge and encouragement, hinting at a rivalry that was as inevitable as it was exhilarating.
Aura huffed, crossing her arms as she met his gaze with a mixture of defiance and intrigue. “And I guess I’ll have to see if you live up to the hype, too,” she shot back, her tone as much a declaration as it was a promise. In that moment, the room seemed to hold its breath—a delicate balance of tension and possibility, where every word exchanged was a spark igniting the slow burn of something greater.
Chan groaned softly, shaking his head with a half-amused smile. “Great. Three stubborn perfectionists in the same room. This is gonna be fun.” His words, light and teasing, couldn’t quite mask the undercurrent of excitement that charged the air around them.
Yet, as Aura sat there, the warmth creeping up her neck wasn’t merely a sign of the studio’s ambient heat. It was the unmistakable, thrilling sensation of stepping into a new chapter—a chapter where every interaction, every technical adjustment, and every burst of creativity carried the promise of transformation.
The return of Seo Changbin was more than just a reunion; it was a harbinger of challenges to come, a reminder that even in the safe confines of familiar routines, change was always on the horizon.
In the delicate pause that followed, as the echoes of Changbin’s words faded into the background, Aura’s mind raced. She thought of the countless hours she had dedicated to mastering the art and science of sound engineering, the whispered dreams of a teenager who had once believed that music was the purest form of expression. Now, here she was—a freshly minted intern at one of the most prestigious studios, surrounded by legends and up-and-comers alike. Yet, with every achievement came a new test of her resolve.
In that charged moment, with the legacy of the past and the anticipation of the future coalescing around her, Aura prepared herself. The music, the internship, and even the rivalries were all threads in the intricate tapestry of her journey. And as the door to the next chapter of her life slowly creaked open, she knew that she was exactly where she was meant to be—ready to meet the challenges head-on, to embrace the unpredictable nature of creativity, and to leave an indelible mark on the world of sound.
The present buzz of the studio, the seasoned guidance of Chan, and the unexpected return of Changbin all converged to signal that nothing in this world was ever static. In that interplay of light, sound, and ambition, Aura’s story was just beginning—each keystroke, each whispered note, a promise of what was yet to come.
Aura’s first day at JYPE was a collage of new sounds, new faces, and a heady mix of anticipation and nerves. The morning light barely filtered through the glass façade of the company building as she stepped through the revolving doors, clutching a folder of meticulously organized documents and a head full of dreams. Every step echoed softly on the polished floor, each footfall a quiet affirmation that she was finally here—a place where every whispered note of music had a story, and where she was about to write her own.
As Aura was buzzed into the reception area, she couldn’t help but notice the air of quiet determination that permeated every corner of the building. The lobby was sleek and modern, with hints of artistic flair in every design element—a subtle nod to the company’s commitment to creativity and innovation. To the left of the entrance, a JYPE-specific photo booth immediately caught her eye. Lined with four cut strips featuring snapshots of different company artists and employees, it served as both a playful introduction to the company culture and a visual celebration of the people who had helped shape its legacy. This small yet vibrant detail reminded Aura that every corner of JYPE was infused with a sense of community and creativity—a fitting prelude to the day ahead.
Aura’s heart pounded as she approached the reception desk, where a friendly face greeted her with a warm smile and a quick verification of her appointment. “Welcome to JYPE, Aura,” the receptionist said, her tone both professional and kind. In that moment, Aura felt a spark of confidence mingled with a lingering anxiety; she had prepared for this day for years, and now every dream, every late night spent mixing tracks and poring over production techniques, had culminated in this very instance.
Shortly after her arrival, Aura was greeted by Kim Yuna, one of the senior engineers whose reputation in the industry was matched only by her approachable manner, and Choi SeungHyuk, whose calm, methodical way of explaining even the most complex technical details quickly put Aura at ease. Together, they led her on a comprehensive tour of the studio—a sprawling labyrinth of recording booths, mixing consoles, and creative spaces that buzzed with the promise of future hits.
“Here we are, Studio C,” Kim Yuna announced as they approached a door that led into a room alive with energy. The moment the door swung open, Aura felt as though she had stepped into a different world. Studio C was not merely a room; it was an eclectic canvas where state-of-the-art equipment mingled with the personal imprints of the creative minds who had graced its space. Every surface, every carefully placed gadget, seemed to whisper stories of breakthrough sessions and late-night experiments. The hum of machinery and the gentle beeps of digital displays filled the air—a constant reminder that this was a place where art met technology in perfect harmony.
Choi SeungHyuk added, “This is where we experiment and push the boundaries. Don’t worry if it feels overwhelming at first; every great engineer started right here, learning by doing.” His voice was steady and reassuring, inviting Aura to embrace the learning curve ahead.
Aura’s eyes roamed over the room, taking in every detail: rows of soundproof booths lined one wall, their padded interiors promising pristine recordings free from outside disturbances; a tangle of cables and connectors lay neatly organized on a nearby table, each one waiting to be part of the next great hit; and above it all, soft, warm lights bathed every corner, giving the space a welcoming glow that softened the intimidating presence of advanced technology.
As she stepped further into Studio C, memories of countless videos flashed in her mind. Since she was a teenager, she’d watched recordings of artists she idolized—their sessions filled with raw creativity and meticulous craftsmanship. Studio C, as she now saw it, was the very same room that had played back those seminal sessions, where every playback had dissected the interplay of instruments and voices. Each demonstration of flawless teamwork and technical wizardry had deepened her longing: one day, she too would be there, her own hands orchestrating the symphony of sound that reverberated through the speakers.
The tour continued as Kim Yuna and Choi SeungHyuk led her to other vital areas. They moved from Studio C to the control room—a vast, sleek space that looked more like the nerve center of a high-tech spaceship than a conventional recording studio. The control room offered an expansive view of several recording studios beyond its large, arched windows. Here, every dial, slider, and digital display was a testament to precision and passion. Aura paused for a long moment, captivated by the sight of the central mixing console. It was a labyrinth of controls, each knob a potential gateway to manipulating sound in profoundly creative ways. The intricate design of the room spoke of years of iterative improvements, with modern technology seamlessly integrated with timeless acoustical principles.
Choi SeungHyuk pointed to one of the digital mixers mounted on a sleek panel. “That oscillator you see there is like the heartbeat of our sound,” he explained, his hand sweeping over the interface. “It’s constant, reliable, and if you ever need to tweak the tone, it’s the first stop.” Aura nodded, absorbing each word with a sense of awe and responsibility. Every component in the control room felt alive, as though it were a living part of the studio’s beating heart. The room buzzed with creative potential—here, technical precision met the boundless possibilities of musical expression.
From the control room, the tour veered into the editing suites. These were marvels of modern design, each suite uniquely tailored to accommodate different facets of the production process. One suite was optimized for audio post-production, complete with dual monitors displaying intricate waveforms and a bank of effect pedals waiting to add texture to raw recordings. Another room was set aside for collaborative editing, its layout arranged in a semi-circular fashion to foster discussion and creative exchange among its occupants. The suites were not just functional; they were inviting spaces where ideas could be freely explored and refined. In one corner, a whiteboard was covered in scribbles and diagrams—a visual representation of the brainstorming sessions that had once taken place there. Aura found herself imagining future projects unfolding within these very walls, each new mix a canvas on which she could leave her mark.
During the walkthrough, Kim Yuna paused beside a particularly intricate soundboard positioned at the edge of a bright workstation. “This is where the magic happens,” she declared, her eyes sparkling with pride. “Every track you hear, every mix that makes it to the final cut, has been carefully nurtured right here.” Aura’s hand hesitated only for a second before she reached out, her fingertips brushing over the cool metal surface of the console. In that tactile connection, she felt more than just the materiality of the equipment—she sensed the legacy of every artist and engineer who had ever worked here. It wasn’t merely a machine; it was a conduit for emotion, a bridge between an artist’s inner vision and the vast, receptive world beyond the studio walls.
The significance of that moment deepened as Aura’s thoughts drifted back to the countless recordings she had studied over the years. In her quiet room back home, illuminated only by the glow of her laptop screen, she had rewatched sessions featuring legendary artists. With each viewing, she absorbed the nuances of how sound was sculpted, how voices blended with instruments, and how each layer of sound was meticulously balanced to create something transcendent. Studio C, with its familiar layout and palpable energy, was the stage where these moments had unfolded. Now, standing within it, Aura felt as though the past and present were converging—her long-held dreams were crystallizing into a tangible reality.
As the tour proceeded, technical jargon began to flow with a rhythm of its own. Choi SeungHyuk, ever the patient mentor, had a way of breaking down complex concepts into digestible insights. He pointed to a series of LED indicators on one of the mixing consoles and explained, “Those lights indicate signal strength and frequency balance. Think of them as the pulse of the audio—it’s a visual cue to the dynamics at play.” Aura listened intently, her mind mapping each technical term to the vast tapestry of knowledge she had painstakingly built over the years. Even as unfamiliar acronyms and precise measurements filled the air, his clear and measured explanations transformed potential obstacles into stepping stones toward mastery.
Between stations, Aura found herself quietly absorbing not just the technical details, but also the ethos of the space. Each room, each piece of equipment, was imbued with a spirit of relentless experimentation and creative freedom. Kim Yuna’s encouragement to ask questions resonated deeply with her. “There are no silly questions here,” she had said with a gentle smile as Aura hesitated before a particularly imposing piece of hardware. “Every query is a step towards mastery.” That sentiment empowered Aura to voice her curiosities—about decibels, the nuances of reverb settings, and the delicate balance required to achieve the perfect mix. With each answer, her initial trepidation melted into a budding confidence, much like bricks being laid down to form the foundation of her future in sound engineering.
Between the technical walkthroughs, there were moments when the tour transformed into something more personal. As they passed a recording booth, Choi SeungHyuk recounted a story from his early days as an engineer. “I remember my first session,” he began, a nostalgic smile softening his features. “I was so nervous I nearly knocked over the mic stand. But every mistake was a lesson, every error a stepping stone. Though you would know that—trained at Kukje and all.” His lighthearted self-deprecation bridged the gap between his years of experience and Aura’s raw enthusiasm. In that brief narrative, Aura recognized her own struggles mirrored in his past, each misstep a necessary part of the journey toward excellence. The shared vulnerability in his tone made the intimidating world of professional audio engineering seem just a bit more accessible.
With each step through the studio, Aura’s internal monologue grew richer with reflections on her own path. She recalled late nights spent in her bedroom studio, headphones on and heart open to the possibility of creating something beautiful. Every chord she experimented with, every beat she layered, had led her to this very moment—standing in the midst of a space where the fusion of technology and artistry was not just an aspiration, but a lived reality. The memories of her formative years, when every new sound felt like an adventure and every mixing session was an act of discovery, swirled around her like a personal anthem of perseverance.
The tour also afforded her glimpses of the company’s storied legacy. In a quiet corridor adorned with framed gold records and photographs of legendary artists, Aura paused to admire the visual testimony of past triumphs. The walls were a mosaic of achievements, each image and trophy a silent witness to the countless hours of sweat, innovation, and passion that had defined JYPE’s journey. In that hallowed space, Aura felt both the weight of history and the promise of her future. Every record and photograph seemed to say, “This is where legends were made. And someday, you could be one of them.”
Her journey through the studio was as much about absorbing the present as it was about connecting with the past. The tactile sensation of the soundboard’s cool metal, the ambient glow of the control room, and even the subtle buzz of conversation in nearby meeting spaces all coalesced into a sensory tapestry that affirmed her decision to be here. The studio was a living, breathing entity—one that had nurtured talent over decades and was ready to pass that torch to the next generation of creative minds.
Throughout the tour, Aura was struck by the precision with which every piece of equipment was integrated into the workflow of the studio. In one editing suite, she observed an engineer meticulously layering vocal tracks, his fingers moving in a practiced rhythm as he adjusted volume levels and applied filters. The quiet intensity of his focus resonated with her own experiences from her previous internships, where every session was a lesson in both technique and tenacity. Here at JYPE, the stakes were higher, but so were the rewards—the ability to create music that transcended the ordinary.
Even as the technical demonstrations and guided explanations filled the space, Aura found herself silently mapping out the studio’s layout in her mind. Each room, from the cozy, collaboration-friendly editing suites to the expansive, echoing control room, represented not just a physical space but a chapter in a larger story—one where every note and nuance had its place, and where the interplay between man and machine brought art to life.
As the tour neared its conclusion, the air was filled with a quiet energy—a collective sense of purpose that reverberated off the walls. Aura’s heart swelled with a mixture of gratitude and determination. Every new piece of information, every personal anecdote shared by Kim Yuna and Choi SeungHyuk, had added layers to her understanding of what it meant to be a sound engineer in this illustrious institution. The technical jargon that had once seemed like an impenetrable code was now transforming into a language she was beginning to speak with confidence.
In that final stretch of the tour, as they passed by yet another recording booth filled with soft, ambient light, Choi SeungHyuk paused once more. “Every project that starts here has its own story,” he remarked quietly, his gaze drifting to the empty booth as if envisioning the myriad possibilities it held. “It’s not just about perfecting sound—it’s about capturing an emotion, a moment in time that resonates with the listener.” His words lingered in the air, a gentle reminder that every technical challenge was ultimately in service of art.
For Aura, that moment was transformative. She felt a surge of inspiration, realizing that the journey she was embarking upon was not solely about mastering equipment or decoding technical manuals—it was about finding her own voice within a symphony of creative expression. The studio, with its meticulously arranged gear and storied past, was both a sanctuary and a launching pad. It was here that dreams were refined into reality, and every challenge was an opportunity to grow.
By the time the tour reached its natural pause, Aura’s mind buzzed with a thousand thoughts—each one a spark of ambition and a quiet promise to herself. The corridors of JYPE were alive with the pulse of music, of hope, and of the relentless drive to innovate. As Kim Yuna and Choi SeungHyuk wrapped up their explanations and began guiding the group back toward the main hallway, Aura lingered a moment longer in Studio C. She traced her fingers lightly over the console, imprinting the memory of that touch—a reminder that one day, the passion that had drawn her here would manifest in tracks that could move hearts and minds.
In those final moments of the tour, as she absorbed every detail and let the reality of the space sink in, Aura’s inner voice whispered that she belonged here. The legacy of past sessions, the tangible energy of the control room, and the nurturing guidance of the engineers had all coalesced into a profound affirmation of her chosen path. With every sound, every carefully engineered note that resonated through the halls, she was beginning to see herself as part of something much larger—a continuum of artists and engineers who dared to dream, innovate, and create.
And so, with the tour drawing to a close and the echo of her footsteps mingling with the soft hum of the studio’s heart, Aura felt a deep and abiding sense of purpose. This was only the beginning of her journey at JYPE, a place where the whispers of music told stories of both the past and the promise of the future. Every corner of the studio had revealed a lesson, every piece of equipment a symbol of the art that lay within. The day had been long and filled with revelations, yet as she stepped away from Studio C, she carried with her the conviction that she was now a part of this dynamic tapestry—a tapestry woven from the threads of sound, passion, and endless possibility.
In that singular moment, as the tour concluded and the group prepared to disperse, Aura’s heart beat in sync with the studio’s pulse. The echoes of technical instructions, the soft murmur of shared memories, and the lingering aura of creative potential had all combined to leave an indelible mark on her. The lessons of the day, the intimate glimpse into the studio’s soul, and the promise of a future where she might contribute her own voice had forever changed her perspective. The journey ahead was daunting, but she was ready—ready to learn, to question, and to transform every note into a part of her unfolding story.
As the guided tour ended, the corridor beckoned with the next chapter of her day. Aura knew that there was still so much to discover, so many more lessons hidden within the walls of JYPE. With a deep breath and a heart full of determination, she walked away from the studio, her mind abuzz with plans and ideas. The rich tapestry of sounds, voices, and shared experiences would continue to guide her steps as she ventured further into the intricate world of sound engineering—an odyssey just beginning, with countless melodies waiting to be discovered.
Not long after the tour, as Aura settled into a temporary workstation near Studio C, she encountered Bangchan—a name that had echoed in her thoughts since the interview.
Bangchan’s influence was apparent from the very first conversation Aura had with him after the tour. In a quiet corner of the studio—away from the constant hum of equipment and the occasional chatter of seasoned engineers—Bangchan beckoned her over with a friendly wave. He had a relaxed smile and an easy confidence that made the intimidating world of professional audio feel a little more like home.
His presence was warm and immediately reassuring, an anchor in the whirlwind of her first days at JYP. Dressed casually in a simple tee and well-worn jeans, he exuded an effortless charm, the kind that made the high-stakes studio environment feel just a little less intimidating. His dark curls, slightly tousled from what she guessed was a long day of work, framed a face that was equal parts welcoming and sharp with quiet intensity. The soft glow of the studio lights caught on the delicate sheen of sweat on his temple, a testament to hours spent in deep focus—perfecting, refining, pushing sound to its limits.
Despite the weight of his responsibilities, there was an ease in the way he carried himself, a quiet self-assurance that made him both a leader and a grounding presence. His eyes, warm brown and alert, flicked to her setup with the practiced efficiency of someone who had spent years immersed in this world. Yet, there was no trace of condescension, only curiosity and a genuine willingness to help.
“Hey there, you must be Aura. You getting settled in alright?” His voice was smooth, tinged with an accent she found oddly comforting—an echo of late-night livestreams and interviews she had watched in the past.
Aura nodded, though her fingers hovered uncertainly over the console. “Trying to, yeah. Still wrapping my head around everything.”
Bangchan’s smile widened slightly, a mix of understanding and encouragement. “It’s a lot at first. Trust me, I’ve been there. But you’re in the right place.” He gestured toward the equipment in front of her. “Need a hand?”
There was something about the way he spoke—steady, patient, with just the right balance of guidance and autonomy—that put her at ease. She had admired his leadership from afar, but now, up close, she understood why so many looked up to him. He didn’t just command respect; he cultivated it, making even the most daunting of tasks feel like a challenge worth taking on. They left and headed to one of the smaller studios on the floor. “Listen, when I first started here, I remember being overwhelmed too. But I learned quickly that every mistake is just another lesson. Let me show you something.” With that, he pulled up a chair and motioned for her to join him at a nearby digital audio workstation.
He began to explain the intricacies of layering sounds—a process that combined technical know-how with an almost intuitive sense of timing and emotion. “See this track?” he said, cueing up a demo on the screen. “When you add a subtle reverb or tweak the EQ here, it can completely change the texture of the sound. It’s like painting with audio. Sometimes, you have to trust your instincts, even if it doesn’t look ‘perfect’ on paper.”
As Bangchan adjusted the controls with practiced ease, Aura watched intently. His fingers danced over the knobs, each movement deliberate yet fluid. In that moment, she remembered countless evenings as a teenager, poring over tutorial videos, trying to mimic those precise movements. Now, here was the man she had admired from afar—a mentor who not only understood the technical side of things but also the artistry behind every adjustment.
“Bangchan-ssi,” she ventured after a pause, “how did you find your voice in all of this? I mean, there are so many ways to approach a mix—how did you learn what worked for you?”
He paused, leaning back as he considered her question. “It wasn’t overnight, trust me. It took years of experimenting, making mistakes, and then listening—really listening—to what each track was trying to tell me. Sometimes, you have to step back and ask, ‘What emotion am I trying to evoke?’ Once you have that clarity, the technical choices become a means to an end, not just a checklist of specs.” His tone was conversational yet laced with wisdom earned from years on the job.
Aura nodded, absorbing every word. In her mind, she replayed her own struggles: the endless hours in her bedroom studio, the frustration of not quite capturing that elusive sound, and the quiet determination that had kept her going. I’ve always wanted to be like Bangchan—calm, decisive, and creative under pressure. His words resonated deeply, reinforcing the belief that her diverse background and relentless passion for music had already set her apart. Here, in this high-stakes environment, she wasn’t just a newcomer trying to catch up; she was someone with a unique voice waiting to be honed.
Their conversation shifted to practical tasks as Bangchan handed her a pair of studio headphones. “Now, I want you to try something,” he said, his tone playful yet challenging. “Pick a sample from this library—anything that catches your ear—and see if you can create a small loop. Don’t worry about making it perfect; focus on expressing a mood.”
Aura’s heart raced with anticipation as she sifted through the digital library. The room filled with the soft murmur of traffic outside and the subtle clicks of her selections, punctuated by Bangchan’s occasional encouraging nod. In that moment, every technical rule she’d learned and every creative impulse she’d nurtured since her teenage years converged. With a deep breath, she chose a sample with a haunting melody and a crisp, understated beat.
Working alongside Bangchan, she adjusted the tempo and experimented with layering additional instruments. Bangchan offered gentle corrections, pointing out where the transitions felt too abrupt or where a bit more reverb could smooth the edges. “Remember,” he said, “it’s not about following a strict formula. It’s about making each element breathe together.” His easygoing nature and genuine interest in her progress made the process feel like a collaborative dance rather than an intimidating test.
Throughout the exercise, Bangchan interjected with anecdotes from his early days at JYPE—stories of long nights, last-minute fixes, and breakthroughs that had come from simply trusting the music. “I once spent an entire night redoing a mix because I thought I could find a little more depth in the bass line,” he recalled with a laugh. “It’s those extra moments of tweaking that sometimes lead to something truly special.” His humor and humility lent the moment a warmth that softened the edges of the high-pressure environment.
As the session drew to a close, Aura realized that her loop wasn’t perfect—but it was uniquely hers. She felt a surge of pride and a budding confidence that whispered of future possibilities. “Thanks, Bangchan-ssi,” she said with sincere formality. “I learned so much from just this short exercise.”
He clapped her on the back with a friendly smile. “That’s how it starts, Aura. Every expert was once a beginner. Keep asking questions and trusting your instincts, and soon you’ll be pushing boundaries of your own.”
The day’s lessons with Bangchan left Aura reflecting on the deep impact of mentorship. His guidance wasn’t just about technical mastery—it was a lesson in resilience, creativity, and the art of listening to ones inner voice. It reminded her that while the industry was fast-paced and often unforgiving, there were mentors like him who cared about nurturing raw talent.
Over a steaming cup of coffee in the break room—a small, comfortable space decorated with vintage band posters and the scent of roasted beans—he shared insights from his own early days at JYPE. He talked about the long hours, the moments of doubt, and the exhilarating breakthroughs that made every challenge worthwhile. His anecdotes weren’t just stories; they were lessons in resilience and passion. As Aura listened, she realized that Bangchan wasn’t just a colleague—he was the guiding star who would help her navigate the labyrinth of professional expectations and technical intricacies.
Later that afternoon, during a brief break between tasks, Aura encountered Minhyuk—her friendly rival whose competitive spirit was as sharp as his technical skills. Unlike the supportive tone of Bangchan’s advice, Minhyuk’s approach was tinged with a spirited rivalry that pushed Aura to strive for excellence.
“Hey, Aura,” Minhyuk said with a confident nod as he joined her in one of the smaller editing suites. “I heard you were working on your first loop. Mind if I take a look?”
His tone was friendly yet laced with a competitive challenge. Aura hesitated for a moment, then shared her screen, explaining the steps she’d taken and the creative choices she’d made. Minhyuk’s eyes sparkled with curiosity and a hint of mischief as he scrutinized the details. “Not bad,” he remarked, his voice respectful but teasing. “But I think you could tighten up the timing on the second beat there. It’s all about precision—if your beat is off, even by a fraction, the whole vibe shifts.”
Their exchange soon evolved into a spontaneous challenge. “Let’s see who can come up with a tighter mix,” Minhyuk proposed, half-smiling as he set up his own workstation. “I’ll give you ten minutes.”
The atmosphere grew charged with a friendly tension. As the two of them dived into their respective workstations, Aura’s heart raced not with anxiety but with exhilaration. This wasn’t a battle of egos—it was a contest of skill, a spur for mutual growth. The rapid tapping of keys, the adjustments of sliders, and the intermittent hum of technical discussions filled the space. In this competitive yet collaborative environment, Aura found a renewed sense of purpose. Each tweak was an opportunity to refine her technique, to push her creative boundaries just a little further.
As the clock ticked down, Minhyuk and Aura exchanged glances that conveyed both camaraderie and the thrill of the challenge. When the ten minutes ended, they reviewed their work side by side. Minhyuk’s mix was undeniably polished, every beat crisp and precise, but Aura’s composition possessed a raw, emotive quality that resonated deeply with her own artistic voice.
“Not bad at all,” Minhyuk conceded with a half-grin. “You’ve got something unique, Aura. I can see why you’re making waves here.” His words, though competitive, carried a genuine respect that bolstered her confidence. The friendly rivalry was not about outdoing one another—it was about raising the bar together, pushing each other to excel in ways that were both technical and creative.
In the aftermath of the challenge, Aura took a moment to reflect on her journey so far. She had looked up to figures like Bangchan and VERSACHOI ever since she was a teenager—icons who had turned their passion into an art form. Their influence wasn’t just in the music they helped create; it was in the way they approached challenges with a mix of discipline and creative freedom. I want to be like them, she mused internally. Not just technically proficient, but also fearless in my creativity.
Her thoughts then drifted to the unique advantage her multicultural background afforded her. Fluent in Korean, English, and Spanish, Aura had always seen language as a bridge—a tool that connected diverse ideas and people. During the challenge, she remembered a brief exchange with a colleague from a Latin American production team, where her ability to switch seamlessly between languages had smoothed over a potentially confusing technical discussion. That moment had not only reinforced her technical competence but also highlighted how her cultural fluency could add value to the team. It was this unique edge—a blend of technical skill and multicultural insight—that set her apart from her peers and positioned her as a vital part of the division’s evolving dynamic.
As the day unfolded, Aura was introduced to snippets of the broader JYPE family. In passing conversations, she heard the names of Felix and Leeknow—two figures whose reputation preceded them. Felix, with his easygoing Australian charm, and Leeknow, whose recent return had already sparked curiosity among the interns, were mentioned in a casual yet respectful tone by her mentors. Although these interactions were brief, each mention subtly wove her into the fabric of a larger narrative—a network of creatives bound together by a shared passion for excellence in music.
The work environment buzzed with energy and expectation. Every conversation in the corridors, every discussion in the open-plan workspaces, was laced with the technical language of frequencies, waveforms, and digital editing—a language that Aura was slowly learning to speak fluently. With every passing hour, the overwhelming grandeur of the studio began to feel less intimidating and more like a vast playground where she could test her limits and redefine her boundaries.
Throughout the day, as Aura moved from one session to another, her internal monologue was a constant companion. She recalled the sleepless nights spent mastering new software, the countless hours spent poring over tutorials and online forums, and the solitary moments of doubt when every mix felt imperfect. But now, standing amid the echoes of industry legends, she felt a profound connection to that younger version of herself—a version that had believed in the transformative power of music.
In a quiet corner of the studio, away from the bustling main areas, Aura found a moment of solitude. She sat down on a worn leather couch, the faint hum of nearby equipment providing a soothing background. As she closed her eyes for a brief moment, she allowed herself to savor the enormity of what lay ahead. Here, in the heart of JYPE, her teenage dreams were merging with her professional reality. Each memory of her past struggles, every small victory from her internships, converged into a single, undeniable truth: she belonged here.
Gradually, the initial anxiety gave way to a burgeoning confidence. Positive feedback from Kim Yuna, Choi SeungHyuk, and even Bangchan had reinforced her belief in her own potential. Every technical explanation, every shared anecdote from a seasoned engineer, was a reminder that the path to mastery was paved with curiosity, persistence, and a willingness to embrace one’s vulnerabilities.
As the day drew to a close, Aura gathered her notes and stepped outside into the cool evening air. The day had been a whirlwind of introductions, technical tutorials, and quiet moments of introspection—a tapestry of experiences that made her feel both small in the grand scheme of the industry and yet powerful in her own right. The legacy of JYPE’s One Label loomed large, but so did the promise of her own future—a future she was determined to shape with every track she would engineer, every sound she would mold.
Walking out of the building with her mind buzzing with ideas and memories, Aura couldn’t help but smile. The expectations were high, the stakes were intimidating, and the challenges were real—but in every whispered note of music and every burst of creative inspiration, she felt the thrill of possibility. Each step was a reaffirmation that she was here to learn, to grow, and to contribute something uniquely her own.
That first day, with its blend of overwhelming responsibility and exhilarating opportunity, marked the beginning of Aura’s journey at JYPE. It was a day filled with introductions that would shape her professional relationships—Bangchan’s steady encouragement and advice, Minhyuk’s spirited rivalry, and the occasional passing nods to the renowned figures like Felix and Leeknow. More than anything, it was a day that affirmed her decision to follow her passion, even when the path was steep and uncertain.
As she made her way toward the exit, Aura’s thoughts settled on the silent promise she had made to herself long ago: that no matter how challenging the journey, she would remain true to the music, to the art of sound, and to the unyielding desire to create something that resonated with the soul. In that quiet moment, beneath the glow of streetlights and the fading hum of the studio behind her, she knew that the coming days would be filled with challenges—and triumphs—and that every lesson learned would be a stepping stone toward mastering her craft.
Her first day at JYPE wasn’t just an orientation; it was the prologue to a story that was uniquely hers. And as she looked forward to returning tomorrow, to dive once again into the world of frequencies and harmonics, Aura felt an unspoken gratitude for every moment that had brought her here. In the echoes of the day’s experiences, she recognized the true power of mentorship, the strength found in camaraderie, and the relentless drive that comes from believing in oneself. It was in these moments, as much as in the technical mastery of sound engineering, that Aura would discover the essence of who she was meant to be.
With the city’s nightscape unfolding before her and the promise of a new day glimmering in her thoughts, Aura stepped forward into the future—ready to face every challenge with the same passion and determination that had carried her this far.
Her eyes flickered over the equipment, lingering on the console as if drawing strength from its familiar layout. The studio—an arena of high-tech innovation and timeless artistry—had become a battleground where creativity was honed and perfection relentlessly pursued. At that moment, Aura no longer felt as nervous as she had on her first day; she was now feeling like a part of the team, even if temporary, managing complex tasks with a growing sense of purpose.
"Hey, Aura, you’re really starting to own this space," Chan remarked with a gentle smile as he walked over, pausing beside her at the console. He leaned casually on the desk, his tone both encouraging and teasing. "I remember your first day here—remember how the smallest knob made your heart race?"
Aura chuckled softly. "I do. It felt like every button was a new mystery waiting to be solved." She ran a finger lightly over the cool surface. "Now, it’s like an old friend reminding me of how far I’ve come."
Before Chan could reply, the door to Studio C swung open, and Changbin stepped in with his trademark confident stride. His return always shifted the energy in the room, and today was no exception. "Good afternoon, team," he greeted, his voice casual yet carrying an unmistakable air of command. "I see you’re putting in the work."
Chan shot him a friendly grin. "Changbin, perfect timing. Aura's been killing it on the console today."
Changbin’s eyes briefly met Aura’s, and for a split second, a spark of recognition passed between them. "Really?" he said, arching an eyebrow. "I’d love to hear what you've been working on, then."
Aura’s pulse quickened at his challenge, a mixture of excitement and nerves stirring within her. "Well, I've been refining that mix from yesterday's session," she explained, turning her monitor slightly so they could all see the waveform. "I tried incorporating some of the techniques we discussed—like adjusting the mid frequencies and layering a subtle reverb. I'm still fine-tuning it, but…"
Chan interjected with a light laugh, "She's already more confident than when she started last month. Trust me."
Changbin studied the screen for a moment, his eyes narrowing in concentration. "Not bad, Aura. But you need to be careful—sometimes too much reverb can muddy the clarity. Have you thought about dialing it back just a bit on the vocal track?" His tone was constructive yet direct, his words carrying both authority and a hint of playful challenge.
Aura swallowed, nodding. "I was considering that, actually. I might reduce it by a few decibels. What do you think, Chan?"
Chan chimed in, "I agree. Less is more sometimes. It's all about finding that perfect balance."
As the trio continued to discuss the mix, the conversation flowed effortlessly, punctuated by the steady hum of equipment and the occasional burst of laughter. Yet beneath the surface, Aura couldn’t help but feel the weight of high expectations pressing on her—especially as the only foreign intern. While Chan’s mentorship had been a constant pillar of support, Changbin’s presence brought a different kind of intensity, one that was as inspiring as it was intimidating.
Aura smiled, appreciating his words. "I know, Chan. Sometimes it just feels like I have to work twice as hard to prove that I belong, you know?" She paused, glancing around at the familiar equipment. "But every time I get hands-on like this, I feel a little more sure of myself."
Changbin, who had been listening, added, "That’s the reality of this industry. It's unforgiving, but it also rewards innovation and determination. Just don’t let anyone’s standards, or the pressure to conform, cloud your vision."
His words, though blunt, struck a chord with Aura. She admired Changbin—not just for his technical mastery, but for his unapologetic individuality. Deep down, she had long revered his work, even if she hadn’t yet revealed just how much he influenced her. Now, faced with his direct feedback, she felt both challenged and driven to push herself further.
"Yeah," she replied, her voice steadier than before. "I’m learning that every critique is an opportunity to refine not just the sound, but my own style."
Chan grinned and clapped her on the shoulder. "Exactly. And remember, we're all here to help each other. Even Changbin—though he might be a bit rough around the edges—wants you to succeed."
Changbin smirked and nodded. "Don't get used to my soft side, though. I’m here to shake things up. Sometimes you need a little turbulence to force real growth." He paused, then added, "Besides, what’s the fun in a perfectly smooth ride?"
The banter lightened the mood, and for a moment, the room was filled with easy laughter. Yet as the conversation shifted back to the technical details, a new layer of tension began to build. Aura noticed how Changbin’s unpredictable energy contrasted sharply with the steady support she had come to rely on from Chan. While Chan’s advice was like a warm, guiding hand, Changbin’s critiques were more like sharp gusts of wind—potentially destabilizing, but also capable of propelling her forward if she learned to harness them.
"So, what are your plans for the next session?" Changbin asked, turning his attention back to Aura. "I heard you’re slated to handle a live mixing demo tomorrow."
Aura’s eyes widened slightly. "Yes, that’s right. I’ve been prepping for it all week, but—" she hesitated, then added, "I’m a bit nervous. It’s one thing to mix in a controlled environment, but live sessions are another ball game altogether."
Chan leaned forward, his tone encouraging. "You’ve got this, Aura. You’ve grown so much in just a month. And remember, every expert started somewhere. If you need to run through a few practice sessions, we’re all here to help."
Changbin’s gaze softened just a fraction. "Practice is key. But remember, live sessions are unpredictable. They test your ability to adapt on the fly. Trust your instincts, and don't be afraid to make quick decisions. It's not about perfection—it's about capturing the moment."
Aura absorbed every word. "I appreciate that. I’ve been working on staying flexible during sessions. It’s just… sometimes, I wonder if I’m really cut out for this, being so different from everyone else."
Chan’s expression turned serious as he replied, "Your differences are what make you valuable, Aura. Yes, the standards here are tough, especially for someone like you who comes from a different background. But that’s a challenge, not a drawback. Your ability to bridge cultures with language, your unique perspective—that’s your strength. It’s what sets you apart in this competitive field."
Changbin nodded in agreement. "If you ever feel like the pressure is too much, remember that it’s normal to question yourself in an industry as unforgiving as this. Just don’t let it derail you. You’ve got talent and the drive to match. Prove to them—and to yourself—that you deserve to be here."
The three of them fell into a comfortable pause, the ambient sound of the studio punctuating their words. Aura took a deep breath, feeling the steady rhythm of the equipment echoing in her chest. The memories of her first day—the overwhelming mix of excitement and nerves—had faded into the background, replaced by a more seasoned confidence. Yet, the reminder of the harsh standards she still had to meet lingered like a shadow.
Breaking the silence, Chan remarked, "So, tomorrow’s the big day. How about we run a quick simulation? Let’s see how you handle a live mix with some unexpected changes thrown in."
Aura looked from Chan to Changbin, her nerves tinged with anticipation. "That sounds great," she replied, a determined glint in her eyes.
Changbin chuckled. "Be prepared, though.Someone might throw in a curveball or two."
As they gathered around a workstation set up for the simulation, the dialogue resumed with a flurry of technical terms and strategic advice. Chan walked her through the planned sequence, while Changbin interjected with hypothetical scenarios. "Imagine the vocal track suddenly drops an octave," he proposed. "What’s your move?"
Aura hesitated only for a moment before responding, "I’d adjust the EQ on the lead track, maybe boost the higher frequencies to compensate for the loss of warmth."
"Not bad," Changbin commented, his tone both approving and challenging. "Now, what if the background beat unexpectedly speeds up?"
"Then I’d have to synchronize the tempo across all tracks quickly, maybe use a quick-fix on the digital mixer to recalibrate," Aura answered, her voice growing steadier as she immersed herself in the scenario.
Chan clapped softly. "See? You’re getting it. Every unexpected shift is just another chance to learn."
As the simulation wound down, the room filled with the sound of satisfied murmurs and casual banter. Aura felt a surge of pride mingled with the awareness of the immense challenges that still lay ahead. She realized that this moment was just one step in her ongoing journey.
Walking back to the main area, Chan put an arm around her shoulder. "Remember, every mix, every session, is a building block. Some days you'll feel on top of the world, and other days, the standards might seem too harsh. But in every case, you grow."
Changbin added, "Keep your head up, Aura. Don’t let anyone make you feel like you don’t belong here. Your perspective is refreshing, and you’re exactly what this team needs to push the envelope."
Aura smiled, the collective reassurance of her mentors wrapping around her like a protective shield. "Thanks, both of you. I won’t let you down."
As they walked down the corridor, the conversation faded into a comfortable silence filled with mutual understanding. The studio's hum served as a constant reminder that every challenge, every note, was part of a larger story—a story where past dreams converged with present realities, and where tomorrow held the promise of uncharted musical landscapes

Teabag Cookies
Amethyst routinely eats used teabags. This is not good for humans, but if you wanna be like her, how about making your own edible teabags (well, as chocolate-dipped shortbread cookies)? Read on. . . .
See more SU food tutorials!
Ingredients:
1 teaspoon tea, any flavor you like
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
½ cup fine granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
¼ teaspoon salt
6 ounces semi-sweet chocolate pieces (to be melted)
Tumblr media
Directions:
Use a stand mixer or hand mixer to whip the butter on medium speed until it is fluffy; it will take about 3 minutes. You can use a spatula to scrape down the sides of the bowl.
Tumblr media
In a little dish, stir together the tea and sugar. (Variation idea: If you want to make different flavors with different tea, you can half the ingredients and make separate batches.)
Tumblr media
Whip the sugar mixture into the butter mixture, and once it's fully incorporated, add the vanilla extract.
Tumblr media
Then add in the flour and salt. You will want to turn off the mixer, fold it in with the spatula a bit, and then use a low speed to complete mixing it in. Don't overmix; you want this to be evenly mixed together but no more.
Tumblr media
Flatten the dough into a disc. Wrap it up in plastic wrap or a reusable refrigerator wrap, and chill it in the fridge for 1 hour or more.
Tumblr media
Once the chilling is complete, prepare a clean floured surface and roll the dough out with a rolling pin to about half a centimeter/a quarter of an inch. Try to get it into a nice rectangle shape.
Tumblr media
Using a nice sharp knife that makes clean cuts (or a pizza cutter), cut into nice little rectangles.
Tumblr media
Use a spatula to lift the rectangles onto baking sheets lined with baking parchment. Space them with about a centimeter between them.
Tumblr media
Then use the knife to chop two ends off each rectangle so they will be shaped like teabags.
Tumblr media
Use a straw to punch a nice hole in each--not too close to the top. Make sure each hole goes all the way through.
Tumblr media
Chill the cookies in the refrigerator for 15 to 20 minutes. This will help them retain their shape and not let the hole close up too quickly; they will start to harden as they cook in the oven before the butter in them melts if they start cold.
Tumblr media
While waiting for the cookies to chill, you can preheat the oven to 340º F / 170º C. When ready to bake, use the middle rack only (do two baking batches). Bake the cookies for 13 to 15 minutes and do not let them get brown--they should remain tan.
Tumblr media
Cool on wire racks. Once the cookies are totally cooled, you can dip them. Use a double boiler to melt your chocolate pieces, stirring with a spatula to help combine lumps.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dip the cookies halfway in to coat them with chocolate, and then put them back on their parchment to settle. You should chill the cookies again to help the chocolate solidify.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, for the strings (which really make the effect!), if you are already a tea-drinker you can save up tea strings and tags from other teabags you've used. This is especially cool if you are varying the flavors of the tea in the cookies and you can include matching tags. . . .
Tumblr media
But if you don't drink tea, don't want to wait to collect tea strings, or just want to make your own, you can use dental floss for the strings and folded-over address labels as tags.
Tumblr media
If you are serving these at a little tea party or at a gathering, you can always decorate these tags with names, symbols, stickers, or messages!
When you're ready to put it all together, just loop each string through the cookie holes and tie them.
Tumblr media
It's pretty much required that you serve them on adorable dishware with dainty cups, right? They are perfect for dunking in tea!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Or you could just unceremoniously chomp them down, like a certain Gem we know!

Note
hello! im a newby gimaker and i want to follow your tutorial on sharpening but i dont know how you got to the photoshop page you started from where it looks like a video timeline. can you tell me how you got there? <3
Hey!!
Welcome to the wonderful world of gifmaking <3 yes i can lead you through to that point. I have a mac so this might look different for you, but all the steps stay the same - I just shifted from windows to mac so i know this xD
I'm going to show you how to do this on this gif:
Tumblr media
I prefer to use screenshots for my gifs (I also don't know how else to make them), so I use Mplayer for that. I used to use MPV player but that stopped working with my new computer system.
First, you want to make sure that you're using a high-quality file. If 1080p is available to you, use 1080p at the very least. This will make sure your gifs are crisp and sharp.
Open your file with Mplayer. Then find the bit that you want to gif. I sometimes search forward by frame by using the ">" key. Once you're at the start point of your desired gif, pause the video. Then, Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + S to start screenshotting. The video will start to play slowly as the screenshots are captured. (They go to the desktop automatically but you can change that in interface settings).
The rest of the tutorial is under a cut:
Once you get your screenshots, you're going to go Photoshop. File > Scripts > Load Files Into Stack.
Tumblr media
You're going to get a dialogue box. Click Browse and load the screenshots that you want. This is what that looks like when you finish:
Tumblr media
Next, you're going to crop your gif, using the crop tool. You can press C on your keyboard for this or use the tool with this icon in the sidebar.
Tumblr media
For this, I'm using an aspect ratio of 540 x 400:
Tumblr media
Click that checkmark to crop. Once you do, we're going to resize the image. Use the Cmd/Ctrl + I function to bring up this box. For tumblr gifs, you want to change the width. The height doesn't really matter but if the width doesn't match up, Tumblr is going to fix it for you and it'll look funky. Per row:
1 gif , we use 540px
2 gifs, 268px each
3 gifs, 177, 178, 177 px
We're just doing one, so I'm using 540px.
Tumblr media
Now, you want to make sure you can add the timeline. In the top bar, go to Window > Timeline
Tumblr media
This will bring up the timeline.
Tumblr media
From there, click "Create Frame Animation" (you might have to press the arrow in the timeline bar first.)
It's going to look like this:
Tumblr media
We're going to use those three lines in the corner of the picture above. The first option we'll select is "Make Frames From Layers"
Tumblr media
That looks like this:
Tumblr media
Now, when these load in, you may notice that they're all in reverse. To make them go back in order, we're going to go back to that menu and click "Reverse Frames."
Tumblr media
Then, in that same menu, click "Select all Frames." We're going to change the animation speed. You want to make sure you have the first frame selected. We're going to click the arrow next to the "0 sec"
Tumblr media
When you click that, it will give you a menu. Click, "other..." You should get a dialogue box that says "Set Frame Delay", just like the one below.
Tumblr media
You want to use anywhere between 0.05-0.1 seconds. I find that anymore more is just too slow, so I prefer 0.06. This is fully changeable at the end of my sharpening tutorial, and you can use what you want, but that's what I prefer.
When you do that, it'll change the frame speed of all the gifs.
Now, go back into that little menu, and click, "Convert to Video Timeline."
Tumblr media
This is what it'll look like:
Tumblr media
Now we're going to select all the layers in the right-hand pane. Once we do that, right-click and select, "Convert to Smart Object."
Tumblr media
And you're there! Now you can use the sharpening tutorial to your liking.
Pro tip: Make an action with all these steps so you don't have to do them by hand with every single gif you make.
Hope this helps and it wasn't super long winded. Let me know if you have any questions <3 Happy giffing!
