1956 renovated mid century modern in Calabasas, CA has some cool new features, but if it wasn't in California, I'm sure it would be worth less. 4bds, 3ba, 3,000 sq ft. $4.398m.
Clearly, the house was originally brick inside and out, that they painted over in white.
Cozy living room is smallish for a $4m home, but the fireplace is beautiful. The floors in here are stone.
They've got a closeup of him, but I doubt if he comes with the house.
The kitchen is on the wall behind the fireplace. From the living room, the floors change to cement.
If the cabinets aren't original, they're an excellent match for an MCM home. I like the counters and backsplash they chose.
The primary bedroom has a lovely corner fireplace and sliders to the yard.
Bathroom #1 is tastefully redone.
Bedroom #2 is a good size.
Bedroom #3 is larger, has a skylight, and room for a seating area.
Bath #2 is done with the same material as the other baths.
Patio with a cool mural wall.
Here's a double patio with a seating area around a large block firepit and a dining area with an outdoor kitchen. The building is called "The Cantina."
Guests can relax inside The Cantina as if they're in a living room. I would imagine that the neon stays. You can see that there are also beautiful green gardens and container gardens around the patio.
There's also a very large bar and I would assume that the vintage phone stays.
For a $4m home, the pool is very disappointing. Really, a small corrugated metal trough sunk into the ground? The real estate calls it "charming."
Then, they've got this box that looks like it may have been a truck, or a storage unit. I don't know, is it an office?
It's also a flex space that can be used as a 4th bedroom or guest space.
The home gym is outdoors.
Vintage painted Airstream trailer is very cool.
These 2 structures are supposed to graffitied pieces of the Berlin Wall.
Here's another patio.
This looks like another corrugated pool, aboveground. The property is 4.31 acres.

Day 4 of spnficrecfest - Kinks @spnficrecfest
Ordered in what I assume is ascending order of nastiness/freakiness to the average person:
cold storage - Crowstiel I loooove when Cas has a kink and doesn't know about it <3 this is, broadly speaking, general cum fetish/light degradation. One of my favorite understated kink fics.
All that is solid melts into air - Destiel Soft dick!! We love soft dick here!!
Control - Destiel (4.17 style) Inspired by the secretary. Cas gets spanked <3 among other things
Double duty Destiel daddy kink, from either side because as we all know, they are both Like That :3 filial piety / dying to let you know
When Do You Let the Animals Out? - Dean/Logan (Wolverine) Piss kink and inexplicably an X-men crossover
morning exchange - Destiel The rare emetophilia fic + Cas being a sadist <3
Closer - Destiel Technically not a kink or pornographic fic, however the vivisection is very sexy in my opinion.
sleep like an angel - Destiel, author chose not to use warning Piss, somnophilia. Cas has an accident while sleeping in Dean's bed. The Very Touch of You… - Castiel/Naomi, rape Naomi gets curious - this one does a lot in a short time. Mommy kink, mind control and Cas in the lobotomy chair.
This body, broken for you. - Destiel, major character death, graphic depiction of violence Exploration of my favorite episode of the whole show - My Bloody Valentine. Goes into a place of cannibalis/feederism/vore, rides the edge of nauseating and erotic incredibly well.
soft and squishy - Destiel, graphic depiction of violence Seriously gore-y wound fucking, but so so good.

Quantum behavior at room temperature: When laser light makes materials magnetic
The potential of quantum technology is huge but is today largely limited to the extremely cold environments of laboratories. Now, researchers from Stockholm University, the Nordic Institute for Theoretical Physics and the Ca' Foscari University of Venice have succeeded in demonstrating for the very first time how laser light can induce quantum behavior at room temperature—and make non-magnetic materials magnetic. The breakthrough is expected to pave the way for faster and more energy-efficient computers, information transfer and data storage. Within a few decades, the advancement of quantum technology is expected to revolutionize several of society's most important areas and pave the way for completely new technological possibilities in communication and energy. Of particular interest for researchers in the field are the peculiar and bizarre properties of quantum particles—which deviate completely from the laws of classical physics and can make materials magnetic or superconducting.

Deans POV
I may not make it through this or I am already gone. So here is where I lay my truth bare… As much as I tried to deny it. To fight against my blackened little heart. I went and fell in love with Dean Winchester. Fully aware that he was incapable of loving me back. And that’s okay. I made peace with that a long time ago.
He tears up as he reads her words. Scanning them over and over again. Burying the dagger in his heart deeper with each tortured syllable.
He suddenly rises. Chair knocking over behind him as he heads over to the table laden with books and tosses them all to the ground with a guttural growl of pain and anger. He begins to pace the floor like a caged animal.
“How could she ever think she was never good enough for me, Sam. She was too good for me. That’s why I kept her just close enough that I couldn’t damage her with my bullshit. But apparently I went and did it anyway.”
“Dean-”
“She was wrong.”
“What?”
“She was wrong Sam. I did love her. Do, love her. How could I not. I can’t believe she thought she was unlovable. That her trauma somehow ruined her. She was my reason for waking up each morning. Just for the chance to see her smile even at my expense. She can’t die on us Sammy. Not thinking I couldn't and didn't love her. Where the fuck is Cas? It’s been 3 days.”
A flutter of wings sounds to his right.
“I’m here. What’s going on?”
“Took you long enough. We’ve been praying for days. She won’t wake up.”
Cas walks over to your cold prone frame and places his fingers to your forehead. A warm yellow like ignites for a moment as his eyes change to the bright blue of his grace. With a close of his eyes and a removal of his fingers, he steps back.
“So?” Dean grits out. “What’s the verdict?”
“She’s stuck. The spirit that passed through her feeds on emotions and trauma. It’s left a piece of itself inside her and is slowly feeding off the pain he has found.”
“What!?!”
“How do we get it out Cas. Can’t you just beam him out.”
“It’s not that simple Sam. It’s been feeding on her for days and is growing stronger over time. I can’t remove it. Only she can.”
“Like an angel possession?”
“Yes. Very much like that.”
“Then get in there and help her get it out already dammit.”
“Dean. You know I can’t do that. She would have to let me in and she is not conscious.”
“What about getting one of us in her head? She’s in a dream like state right?” Sam inquires.
“Yes but you would need some kind of machine to connect you to her in this state.”
“Right. Good thing the men of letters have a machine that can do just that. I stumbled upon it a couple months ago and did a little research. I think with a combination of African dream root and your grace Cas, we can modify it to what we need.”
“It’s worth a try. Who will be going inside her head?”
“I will.” Dean quickly responds. “Where is the machine Sam?”
“In one of the old storage rooms. It’s large though. I’m going to need help.”
“I’ll move it. Just tell me exactly where it is.” Cas imparts. Sam gives him the details and in the next blink of an eye the large machine is taking up space next to your bed.
Cas touches Sam's head.
“What was that for?”
“I needed the information on how it works. It was contained in your head and I just pulled it out. Your assumption of adding my grace is correct. It will give us the desired effect.”
“I’m not even going to complain about that invasion of privacy right now. I’m going to grab the dream root. Get Dean settled and set up.”
An hour passes in a rush. You are hooked up to wires on your temples that lead to a machine that sits between you and Dean. Your body remains lifeless as it has been.
The last wire is placed on Dean as Sam hands him the brewed African Dream Root.
“As soon as you have ingested the tea, I am going to push my grace into you so that you end up in the same dreamscape she is currently in. Are you sure you want to do this Dean? It’s feeding on her emotions. Not all of them are kind.”
“I don’t care. I am going to get her out even if kills me.”
“Alright.”
With a deep breath and a nod to Sam he downs the tea like a shot. There is a flash of white behind his eyes. As they open, he is no longer in the Bunkers infirmary but in a small home where yelling is taking place.
“Wipe that look off your face girl! You stepped in front of your mother. That hit was intended for her, not you. How can you be so stupid! She doesn’t deserve for you to save her. The worthless slut!”
A smack can be heard. “Daddy! No! Stop! She’s already bleeding! Just let me clean her up and check her hand. Don’t want an ER visit or the neighbors to call the cops again right?”
“Don’t get smart with me.”
“I’m not. I’m not. Why don’t you go sit in your favorite chair and put on some wrestling. I’ll bring you a fresh drink and a new plate of food.”
A grunt is the only response until a man emerges from the kitchen and turns the corner to what must be the living room.
Dean hurries down the hall to the entrance of the kitchen. There you are. Well a younger presumably teenage version of you, is knelt down next to a woman clutching her bleeding hand with a bruise around her wrist.
“I’m sorry Mama. I didn't get home fast enough.”
“Oh honey bun. No. This isn’t your fault.”
“Just let me get him sorted and I’ll dress your cut and get you some ice for that wrist.”
With a flurry of movement, she passes right beside me with a highball and a plate full of food. On her way back, I block her path and reach out for her shoulders. The jolt of contact changes her features into the current day woman that I know and love.
“Dean? What are you doing here?”

Hi! Sorry if you've answered something like this before and I missed it. I was entrusted with my family's stamp collection and would like to improve how it is kept. What recommendations do you have for stamp storage that are both convenient to access the stamps and store the stamps safely?
Hello and thanks for the question! I'm going to do a broad kind of all situations answer in hopes that an aspect will cover your situation and the rest will be helpful to other collectors, but feel free to message back if you need more specific advice.
Stamp storage is one of those everybody has a different opinion things in philately - it's mostly about starting with proper paper storage and working from there to figure out what's the best solution for you, your collection, and your space.
Top tip is to make sure your stamps aren't being kept in a humid or overly hot or cold area - damp can bring mold or disturb the gum on the back of the stamp (or even make your stamps stick together), and extreme variations in temperature can compromise the stamp as well. Many a stamp collection has been lost to basement or garage storage - which reminds me, you'll need to be aware of the pest situation wherever you choose to store it, because they do love to nibble on old paper.
If the stamps in your collection are largely loose in boxes, the next step up would be to get one or more stockbooks to store the stamps in. Stockbooks let you organize your stamps and make it easy to see what you have and what you don't, without having to mess around with mounts or hinges (more on that in a second). They also keep your stamps flat and come with leaves of either some kind of plastic or a wax-paper-like material between each page to keep your stamps from interacting with each other chemically. If you have a stamp store in your area, you can almost certainly purchase stockbooks from them, or you can buy directly online from the various brands (just search for stamp stockbooks). You can also often find new or lightly used stockbooks on sites like ebay - just be sure to check the price against going rates for new stockbooks so you're not overpaying.
Stockbooks are my personal favorite option - they're not super fiddly, you can see your collection at a glance, and you can be as organized as you like, plus they have built in stamp protection features. They also store a lot of stamps for their footprint, and most fit comfortably on a standard bookshelf. The major downside in my experience is that depending on the material the little sleeves are made of, your stamps might slip around a bit.
If your stamps are in stockbooks already and you want to kick it up a notch organizationally, you'll want to invest in a stamp album. Albums are typically organized by subject (for example, you might have an album featuring U.S. stamps from 1900 to 1950) and have spaces reserved for each stamp. You can then adhere the stamps using hinges (which are sort of like light strips of waxed paper with an adhesive that's designed to not damage the stamp) or mounts (which are little plastic windows, sort of? I'll put a picture below).

I believe these days most albums are in binder format so you can add additional pages as needed, but sometimes you can get an actual bound book. You can purchase albums from stamp stores/online providers, but some are available for free to download and print out (including a lot from our parent org, the American Philatelic Society). You can also make your own pages to fit your collection, in a word processor or a graphic design program (or with pencils and pens, the old fashioned way!). Just be aware that if you're making them for anyone but yourself, stamp copyright is real and complicated.
Regardless of whether you go with albums or stockbooks, you'll want to keep them either upright and supported (i.e. on a bookshelf) or flat (like in a desk drawer or a bankers box), and again, nowhere damp or with extreme temperatures. That's more about general book care than the stamps themselves, but it also keeps things from being jostled and your book/album from getting damaged.
There are also a variety of short term solutions for a small collections or portions of, including glassines (which are envelopes made out of that waxy paper), regular envelopes (but make sure the paper's acid-free/archival-ish if the stamps will be in there for any length of time, and regardless it wouldn't be my top recommendation), stock pages (which are individual stockbook pages with sleeves that you can put in a binder or use to send stamps through the mail) and a big favorite with philatelists, cigar boxes. I've also seen people use matchboxes, which is very aesthetic but a little fiddly.
Edit: You can also find a much more in-depth look at stamp storage from the APS here.
I hope that (very long) answer helped, and please feel free to reach out with any more questions!

Hi there i was wondering if you could make and angsty one where ghost walks in on y/n with another member of 141
Angst!Ghost x Fem!Reader
Oneshot where Ghost walks in on you banging Soap and you profusely apologize.
You know its wrong and you know you shouldn't do it. You've gone through it before and you just can't help yourself. You think that Ghost would never find out. How are you so stupid, to think he would never find out. Especially because it was with Soap. His best friend.
Soap pushes you up against the wall and your passionately making out, and the thing is your like a numb shell. You can't help but think of Ghost while your standing here pushed against this Scottish God.
You somehow push things further. His hands slowly sliding down your pants and his hands pushing into your underwear. You feel his already slick fingers go inside you and you rest your head on his shoulder trying not to make a noise. You quietly moan into his shoulder as the pad of his thumb circles your clit.
"Shhh, nobody is allowed to hear you." Soap puts a finger to your lips in a shushing motion and you try to stop making noise but it's really hard when he's just so good with his hands.
You run your hands across the shaved part of his head in ecstacy. "Look it ya, all pretty for me." You moan out. Loud. And you see the door handle of the storage closet your in jiggle and all you can think is how much trouble your going to be in.
You and Soap quickly go hide behind a target that never gets used as the door opens. You notice that your clothes are still on the floor. For whoever it is to see them.
You can peak slightly from behind where you're hiding and you can see the large boots enter the room. The person bends down and their gloved covered hands grab your clothes. Then you see his face.
Ghost
And he knows those are your clothes because well you saw him earlier, and you had lied to him. Told him you were going to go do target practice or something like that.
"Y/N?" Ghosts voice sounds kind of shakey, like he's worried about you. He starts frantically looking around the room. And you see him shoving things over. You and Soap hold your breath hoping he doesn't come over here.
You squeeze your eyes shut just until your hear the object in front of you get pushed out of the way. Soaps arms wrapped around your waist you slowly open your eyes to see the slowly realizing one's of Ghost.
His fragile heart breaks right in front of your eyes. "Y/N..." His voice wavers. He tries to keep his composure but you know it's hard for him.
The thing is the two of you have had many conversations about him. And he had just recently opened up to you about his trust issues in relationships because nobody's every really truly been loyal. He told you that if you were unhappy to tell him. But you didn't. You just couldn't. And sitting here practically in Soaps lap while Ghost stares at the two of you, you feel terrible, awful even.
And now you know he's never going to trust you again. Infact this relationship is over, and you know it. He walks out of the room completely chill as if nothing happened. The only thing you could tell was wrong was the fact that he slammed the door. Hard.
You quickly put on your clothes and run out of the room not saying anything to soap. And you run down the hall towards Ghosts office hoping that maybe you can apologize to him.
You open the door slowly and you see him facing the wall. "Hey." You say quietly. He turns around in his chair. You can tell somethings wrong but he would never intend to show it. "Ghost, I'm sorry." You sound like your begging for his forgiveness and you sort of are.
"Y/N.." His voice is quiet. "We talked about this. I'm sorry but this relationship cannot continue." He sounds so serious. Not like you've ever heard him talk to you.
"If you just let me explain please!" You beg him practically on your knees.
"Fine, but be quick" His gaze is cold and you can tell whatever you're about to say isn't gonna be enough to change what you've done.
"You never touched me. Or gave me any attention what was I supposed to do? And, I'm kind of afraid to talk to you about these things." You shout at him. You don't know what else to do at this point.
"Its my fault you cheated? Okay then. I'm sorry Y/N, please get leave." His cold gaze piercing her soul.
"No! Thats not fair." You start to get louder and all he does is grab his pen and continue to do the paperwork that's stacked onto his desk. "Can't I get a second chance?" You ask calming yourself down but still clearly upset.
He puts the pen down and looks up at you slowly "No you can't, and I'll be transferring you to a different task force." He sort of glares at you and it takes you aback. A different task force? Can he even do that?
"What?" You ask as if you haven't heard him right.
"You heard me, now get out of my office Sergeant." He makes a leave motion with his hand and you leave his office.
I can't belive he did that. I even apologized to him. What a fucking asshole.
~~~~
I would like to personally apologize for this R.I.P
Gravenstein (Danish: Gråsten, meaning "graystone", after Gråsten Palace[2]) is a triploid apple cultivar that originated in the 17th century or earlier. The fruit has a tart flavor, and it is heavily used as a cooking apple, especially for apple sauce and apple cider. It does not keep well, and it is available only in season. This is in part because neither cold storage, nor regular controlled atmosphere keeps the apples' distinctive aroma, although the Nova Scotia Fruit Growers' Association states that "recently however, low oxygen CA storage has shown promise in retaining this harvest-time quality".[3]
Because I keep terrible in cold storage.
Fast forward 9 years, like a Linklater film. We have moved to Seattle and into our first home, birthed 2 kids, survived a pandemic and a presidency, changed jobs 4 times (3 for me). The next installment begins in medias res: we are now departing Seattle for a sabbatical abroad, said home being renovated, jobs on hold, kids in tow.
Parenting is a prism, one that alters the life passing through it. The before is a blur, the after a rainbow: days stratify into layers of duty and calling, color-coded calendar holds; emotions run a gamut from tenderness to terror.
The act of packing makes this refraction visible. And all too tangible. At no point has any packing I’ve done, ever, assumed such scale and complexity, with so little margin for error. We must move everything out, marshaling the movements of various troops - our movers, our contractors, our tyrannical children and their toys - while staging which possessions will fly with us, move over to the rental house, enter into long-term storage, or leave us for good.
We are penning a multi-act play via the set design. For at such proportions, packing necessarily takes on dramatic and philosophical dimensions on top of the usual logistical ones – we are partitioning not just our things, but also our lives. To get rid of the baby swaddles is to turn the page on certain chapters; to pick out new bathroom tiles is to ground where the future will unfold; what goes into our suitcases is the real answer to the question of what we cannot live without - evidently, for me, that is my electric toothbrush.
Finally, as our belongings diverge, our bodies converge toward our destination: Italy. (In this instant, I feel like a photon, part light part matter, more spectral than corporeal, for sleep has wholly eluded me on this flight.) Hurtling over Greenland, I notice our in-flight map resembles the azimuthal projection in the NATO logo, so chosen to show how close to one another all countries in the northern hemisphere are, from a polar vantage. Leo will sleep only on BJ, and so BJ is spreading too-cold butter on his dinner roll, which is suspended over the tousled hair of a 4-year-old sprawled koala-like on him. Plus ca change.
Kettl, 4677 Hollywood Blvd, Los Angeles (Los Feliz), CA 90027
I thought Kettl was just another matcha shop, but now that I’ve visited, I realize that it’s special. First, the founders purchase the teas directly from the best tea growers in Japan. They use date-stamped oxygen-free packaging and cold storage to ensure the freshness of the product. It’s not just matcha that they sell. They also have hojicha, oolong, buckwheat, and barley. The signs show the flavor profile of each tea, including sweetness, umami, astringency, fragrance, and depth of color. There is also information about the origin, flavor notes, method, preparation, etc.
There are currently three Kettl cafes, two in NY and the newest one in Los Angeles. They have tea flights or you can order a la carte. And there are classes (e.g., how to craft the perfect matcha latte) and events. The menu includes tea lattes and cortados, traditional matcha, iced teas, and brewed teas. If you sit at the tasting counter for the tea omakase, there’s a 20% surcharge. I also saw some Kettl chocolate bars, flavored with tea.
Iced sobacha (roasted buckwheat), $5. Served over ice. Light, toasted, refreshing.
Kettl x August sobacha ice cream bar, $14. Gorgeous packaging for a beautiful bar made with tiger nut milk. The bar was created by Chef Malcolm Livingston, former head pastry chef at noma and wd~50 using Kettl’s tea. His goal was to create a non-dairy, gluten-free, non-nut based ice cream (tiger nut is not a nut, despite the name). Tiger nut milk must be mild. I mostly tasted the coconut cream vs. the tiger nut milk. The bar was beautiful with a bit of crunch from the roasted buckwheat crispies (not sure what they were). The bar exterior had a roasted flavor. The ice cream portion was fairly creamy and mild with a clean aftertaste. Worth $14? I’m not sure but it was clearly high quality. You can only get the bars at Kettl Los Feliz.
The space is understated, elegant, and serene with light wood, white walls, and globe pendant lamps. It looks like a place you’d see in Japan. There is a large communal table upstairs, tasting counter downstairs (reservations required), and a small seating area in the back. Finding parking will be a challenge. There is a rewards program.
4.5 out of 5 stars
