i did get an ask about a very similar concept on my nsfw account — which i am still going to answer LOL — but !!

working at a country club during the summer to make some extra cash, and one day you come across this guy hiding in the kitchen, eating the food !!! and he looks ridiculous with all his tattoos and the piercings and his white polo and blue slacks — but you yell at him to get back to work serving mimosas and finger-sandwiches.

and you very quickly learn that this guy — who introduces himself as dabi — is about useless. acts like it's his first day, has no training on what to do at all, ends up following you around like a lost puppy for most of the day. you're constantly fixing his stupid little mistakes and apologizing for his bad attitude.

"how the hell did you get this job, anyway?" you ask him, much later that evening. the sky is dark and clear and the air is still thick with summer and you're sitting out on the golf course, by the pond, sharing a bottle of stolen champagne.

if he wasn't so annoying, it'd almost be romantic.

and dabi grins at you, like he knows how much of a little shit he's been today. "had an in with my family."

you shrug, regardless, and make a face that has him laughing out, loud and amused before taking the bottle from you. "yeah, well," you murmur, "we'll see how long that lasts."

"damn, got that little faith in me, huh?" he grins when you make another face; an exaggerated roll of your eyes. and — maybe he's a little handsome. "don't worry, i'll be here all summer."

his voice dips low at that, dark. behind him, the cicadas scream and the crickets chirp and a breeze pulls over the water, slow.

maybe it is a little romantic.

you reach a hand out for the champagne, taking a big drink before passing it back to him. "cheers to that, then."
